#1  I just saw several videos on the teevee. Nobody got out. They were too low, and the smaller plane cut the bomber in half.

#2  They're going to be looking really hard at the P-63 driver, because it kind of looks like he had no idea where he was.

#3  P-63 Kingcobra pilot must have been a ex-soviet Union pilot, we all know they tend to fly drunk.

The P-63 Kingcobra was never accepted (according to Wikipedia) for American war service, but was widely used by the Soviet Union during WWII.

(Video) Man Orders Popeye's Online, Worker Refuses To Give Him His Food When He Goes To Pick Up, Ends Up Slapping Phone Out Of His Hands

"I went to KFC without incident."

I'm sure there is a back story, but, damn, just give the guy his 3 pieces and call it a day, right?

There's probably some health department regulation about serving food which has gone cold. Anyone want to comment?

Focus on war preparation, Xi Jinping tells China’s army
[OneIndia] China's president Xi Jinping has told the People's Liberation Army to put all its focus and energy on fighting in preparation for war, a Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece said.

Sharing an image of Xi in army uniform during a visit to a command centre, People's Daily reported that Xi Jinping said that the army must comprehensively strengthen military training in preparation for war.

Xi had earlier warned of dangerous storms on the horizon in Communist Party's Congress. "Focus all energy on fighting, work hard on fighting and improve capability to win," Xi said.

He also said that the army must also resolutely defend national illusory sovereignty and national security"as China was in an "unstable and uncertain, Xi was also quoted as saying.

A similar order had been issued by Xi Jinping in 2013. At the Communist Party meeting, he made a veiled attack on the US for increasingly supporting Taiwan.

Twitter in peril as key executives quit, Musk warns workers of financial ruin
[IsraelTimes] US regulators watching platform with ’deep concern’ after resignations follow botched launch of new paid verification service, widespread impersonation of top celebrities

Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter descended ever deeper into chaos on Thursday as key security executives resigned from the platform, drawing a sharp warning from US regulators.

The walkouts came a day after the turbulent launch of new features introduced by Tesla and SpaceX owner Musk following his $44 billion buyout of the influential messaging app.

Musk on Thursday warned employees that the site was burning dangerously through cash, raising the specter of bankruptcy if the situation was not turned around.

"I’ve made the hard decision to leave Twitter," tweeted chief security officer Lea Kissner, who reportedly stepped down with other key privacy or security executives.

In the most extraordinary exit, US media reported that Yoel Roth, the site’s head of trust and safety stepped down just a day after staunchly defending Musk’s content moderation policy to advertisers.

The convulsions followed the unveiling of the site’s long-awaited Twitter Blue subscription service, which allows users to pay $7.99 per month for a coveted blue tick, as well as a separate gray "official" badge for some high-profile accounts.

But the release descended into tumult on Wednesday when Musk scrapped the new gray label almost immediately, overshadowing the launch of the pay service, which is currently only available on the mobile app on iPhones and in the United States.

The launch also saw the emergence of a flurry of fake accounts as users used the opportunity to impersonate celebrities and politicians such as NBA star LeBron James or former British prime minister Tony Blair.

Early media reports also said Robin Wheeler, who held a key role linking Twitter with advertisers and was considered a key Musk ally inside the company, was leaving but late Thursday she tweeted: "I’m still here."

’DEEP CONCERN’
The chaos drew a rare warning from the Federal Trade Commission, the US authority that oversees consumer safety which had put Twitter under watch for past security and privacy breaches.

"We are tracking recent developments at Twitter with deep concern," a spokesperson for the FTC said in a statement.

"No CEO or company is above the law, and companies must follow our consent decrees," the spokesperson added, referring to past commitments by Twitter to obey US privacy rules.

Violating FTC decisions could cost Twitter millions of dollars in fines.

The 51-year-old entrepreneur fired half of the 7,500 employees of the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, company a week ago, 10 days after buying the site and becoming its sole owner.

For the first time since the layoffs, Musk on Thursday addressed his remaining employees and urged them to help the site reach one billion users, according to employee text messages seen by AFP.

Musk also warned that the company was bleeding cash and expressed fear about the effects of the poor economy on his newly bought business.

"You may have noticed I sold a bunch of Tesla stock. The reason I did that is to save Twitter," he is reported to have said.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives meanwhile warned that the Twitter episode could have serious repercussions for electric car manufacturer Tesla.

"Brand destruction is our biggest worry with this Twitter circus show. It’s that simple and I can’t ignore it for Tesla stock," Ives wrote on the site.

Twitter is also crippled by the decision of advertisers to stay away from the platform, concerned about Musk’s plans.

The tycoon announced he was ending work-from-home policies at Twitter, which had been a widespread practice at the the Socialist paradise of San Francisco

-based company.

"If you don’t show up at the office, resignation accepted," he told employees.

#1  I doubt he's going to let his $44 billion go up in a flash. This is about concentrating attention inside the organization.

#2  That's the thing about buying the company and taking it private. Normally a stock sale brings money into a company. Musk's purchase sent money out of the company. The $44B he used to purchase the company left with the previous owners, and is no longer available.

Sam Bankman-Fried's crypto empire ‘was run by a gang of kids in the Bahamas' who all dated each other
[FORTUNE] "Shocking" is a word that aptly describes the rapid fall of Sam Bankman-Fried’s cryptocurrency empire. To a surprising degree, it’s a sentiment that pours out from people who worked for him, people who you’d think would’ve had a clue.

How can that be? It may have something to do with a luxury penthouse in the Bahamas. That’s where 30-year-old Bankman-Fried is roommates with the inner circle who ran his now-struggling crypto exchange FTX and trading giant Alameda Research.

Many are former co-workers from quantitative trading firm Jane Street, others he met at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his alma mater. All 10 are, or used to be, paired up in romantic relationships with each other. That includes Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison, whose firm played a central role in the company’s collapse — and who, at times, has dated Bankman-Fried, according to people familiar with the matter.

CoinDesk spoke to several current and former FTX and Alameda employees who agreed to talk on the condition of anonymity, citing ongoing harassment and death threats due to the exchange’s solvency issues. And they said essentially this: It’s a place full of conflicts of interest, nepotism and lack of oversight.

"The whole operation was run by a gang of kids in the Bahamas," a person familiar with the matter told CoinDesk on the condition of anonymity.

FTX and Alameda employees CoinDesk interviewed say they have been kept in the dark about the events of the past week, adding that only CEO Bankman-Fried’s inner circle may have had knowledge that the exchange, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, siphoned customer funds into corporate sibling Alameda.

"It’s been radio silence from Sam," a second Bankman-Fried employee told CoinDesk on Wednesday. "When we saw the CZ [CEO Changpeng Zhao] tweet saying Binance was going to buy FTX, we honestly thought it was fake. But then Sam’s tweet just confirmed it."

Bankman-Fried finally addressed employees later on Wednesday — a week after a CoinDesk article set the crisis in motion — writing, "I completely understand if you want to step away," per an internal message to employees viewed by CoinDesk.

Among his nine housemates are FTX co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Gary Wang, FTX Director of Engineering Nishad Singh and Ellison of Alameda, Bankman-Fried’s trading business that’s at the center of the current chaos and on which the Wall Street Journal reported got $10 billion of FTX customer money. The remaining six are also FTX employees.

"Gary, Nishad and Sam control the code, the exchange’s matching engine and funds," the first person familiar with the matter said. "If they moved them around or input their own numbers, I’m not sure who would notice."

A third person familiar with how the company operated said: "They’ll do anything for each other."

Bankman-Fried and Ellison did not respond to a request for comment sent directly to them. Wang and Singh could not be reached for comment. A spokesperson for FTX was also asked to pass on CoinDesk’s request for comment to Bankman-Fried, Ellison, Wang and Singh.

Bankman-Fried’s father, Stanford Law professor Joseph Bankman, also plays a role at the company. He appeared on an episode of the "FTX Podcast" in August, describing charity and regulation-related projects in which he was involved.

Wang, Singh and Ellison also comprise the board of Bankman-Fried’s FTX Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the company. Several housemates, including Bankman-Fried and Ellison, are active participants in effective altruism, a movement that "aims to find the best ways to help others," possibly through philanthropy.

In the Bahamas, FTX and Alameda’s offices are also located steps apart in a coworking compound in the Bahamas that also housed Solana developers and other crypto incubation projects.

"All of the stakeholders would have a hard look at FTX governance," tweeted Bankman-Fried on Thursday. "I will not be around if I’m not wanted."

While some FTX employees have voiced approval for Bankman-Fried’s more frequent communication of late, others are not so consoled.

"Some employees kept their life savings on FTX," the second anonymous employee told CoinDesk. "We trusted that everything was fine."

#9  All fiat currency is based on the chimera of trust. Perhaps Yellen should think about that after all the pumping she's done in her life. It is risible to think that going from a risible piece of oblong paper, that is at least literally tangible, to a batch of electrons stored in a server somewhere under the control of someone, somewhere, is confidence building. Crypto-currency is techno-babble version of three-card monte!
