Snow expected in northern Saudi Arabia
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Snow is expected to blanket the northern areas in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
over the weekend, Al Arabiya News Channel reported.

The predicted snowstorm, which hails from a northerly direction, is the latest with a cold snap which has already hit Turkey, Jordan, Paleostinian Territories, Israel and Leb on Friday.

In northern Saudi Arabia, regions such Tabouk, al-Jawf, Rafah and Tareef are expected to be blanketed with snow.

This Week In Guns, February 21st, 2015

By Chris Covert
Ranturg.com

The big news this week in the government's drive to turn us all into serfs is the news that M855 and SS109 5.56x45mm rounds have been banned because they are considered armor piercing. We must, so the logic goes, stop any threat to the body armor of cops and soldiers. Someone remarked that not a lot of hue and cry went up when the Russian 5.45x45 7N6 round was banned as armor piercing so, confident, the ATF banned a commonly used round. It is looking a lot like at least one effect may have been a jump in prices in many classes of ammunition, even pistol rounds. Maybe prices were poised to jump anyway, dunno.

One of the possible problems is that the ATF violated the law when the ban was imposed by failing to follow procedures laid out in the 1946 Administrative Procedures Act, especially in the area of proper notification.

And in the comedy category, an anti gun rights lawyer was busted for attempting to carry a gun on board an aircraft at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. My best guess is that David Malik will be prosecuted under the David Gregory protocol. That means not at all.

Dunno which is worse. Violating the law and skipping punishment, or being busted in Cleveland.

Remarks Michael Bloomberg made on using racial profiling as a criteria of banning guns will not be made available. According to the press, "representatives of Michael Bloomberg" stopped release of the remarks. "Representatives" prolly having the face of Benjamin Franklin, in unmarked bills.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Ammunition prices in some classes have jumped, and prices for all classes of rifles have jumped quite a bit week over week. It will be interesting to see by the end of this quarter where prices will be, compared to the previous quarter.

You can see how used gun prices have behaved by looking at the main heading and seeing the average price (how many weeks ago that average was reached) and then prices from the previous week. The report for Q4, 2014 will be out on April 4th.

Prices for rifle ammunition and pistol ammunition were mixed. It should be noted that prices for some classes of pistol ammunition have suddenly shifted upward, some by as much as 25 percent. This after being steady since as far back as Q3, 2014.

Prices for used rifles were higher across the board, while prices for used pistols were mixed.

#1  From the link;

…a video of his speech in which he advocated for cities to bar minority males up to age 25 from having guns…Bloomberg’s racial disarmament proposal a key to distancing supporters.

I feel like a real peckerhead defending Bloomberg but twisting his statement into a racist proposition is not only foolish but counterproductive. First, he correctly identified that the majority of US violent crime is committed by young minorities in larger cities. He followed with an expressed desire to find ways to get guns out of their hands. The real issue here is that none of Bloombergs’ anti-gun proposals would accomplish his stated goal. The overwhelming majority of guns used in those crimes come from the Black market – not legally purchased. A wiser choice to counter the anti-gun folks is to continue to expose their ideas as both anti-constitutional and totally ineffective. But, please leave the Alinsky bullshit for the race-baiting turds.

#2  One of the possible problems is that the ATF violated the law when the ban was imposed

Please, laws do not apply to this Administration.

#3  Thanks DG for being the caricature for 90 percent of gun owners.

You're fine with the RKBA as long as you have your rights, but when someone else's rights are assaulted or violated, they're just wife beaters, or criminals, and so you're fine when those people's rights are violated.

Until the moment your rights are threatened.

It is much the same when I illustrated how the ban on 7N6 ammunition went into effect, with not even a wiff of protest from AR owners. But ban M855 for the AR, then whoa! Holy Hell! Rights are violated! Someone do something!

I would bet that users of the AK-74 are saying, "F*ck you and your AR receiver! Where were you when the 7N6 were banned?"

So, let's play a game I call government statistics. Let us say that even though minorities comprise the grand majority of felons, they are still less than two percent of the population at large and a very small percentage of the total of all minorities.

How will you justify disarming the others, maybe in toto 40 percent of the population at large? Potential criminals? What would be your answer? Would I be "race baiting", when I point out that, like the 7N6 ban, it was just a test to see how far the government could go, when they finally conclude that the grand majority of AR owners should have their rifles taken from them? What do you do now? Do you appeal to the 40 percent of the population whose rights were violated? Or do they do, as you did? Conclude that those complaining are just "race baiting", just "using Alinskiitie tactics"

So, allow me to "'splain something" to you. Rights are for everyone, not just people you like, and if one group's rights are violated by the government, then YOUR rights are violated.

Otherwise the government moves with absolute impunity, as they are doing now, confident that people such as yourself won't give a flying f*ck about anyone else's rights until their own rights are violated?

You still get to decide.

#4  Switchout racial profile with political profile and see the hook through the lure.

A tyrant who takes away rights from minorities will eventually find a way to make you a minority.

Bloombooger has nobody's interests in mind but his own legacy. Its really an infuriating comment that not all people are equal before the law, prejudicing you on how you were born, not what you have done.

#5  Sorry to be so harsh about all this, but this is the main reason I am even writing this column: Trying to do whatever good I can.

I know how those f*ckers work and if I can get folks to stop them cold, then what I do now will be worth it.

If not, it will still be worth it to let as many people as possible know what's on the menu for an expanding government: you.
Posted by: badanov || 02/21/2015 18:11 Comments || Top||

#6  So, allow me to "'splain something" to you. Rights are for everyone, not just people you like, and if one group's rights are violated by the government, then YOUR rights are violated.

Bad -so let me splain something to you as well. Rights are NOT for everyone. So who doesn’t deserve their rights? Criminals! By simply being criminals they have forfeited their rights. And that doesn’t in any way shape or form violate my or your rights. But you knew that already. Bloomberg doesn’t want to disarm just minorities. He wants to disarm everybody! My guess is the reason he doesn’t want the audio of his statement released is NOT because it’s racist. It’s because it totally refutes his bullshit arguments of expanded background checks and the like.

Robert Morrow: It takes a Clinton to murder a village.
[MOFO] Hillary Clinton-- not Bill, not Janet Reno, not Webb Hubbell, not Vince Foster-- ordered the assault on Waco that killed 76 Branch Davidians, including 21 children, and two pregnant women-- and motivated Timothy McVeigh to participate in the Oklahoma City bombings two years later on April 19, 1995.

In the spring of 1993, Mrs. Clinton had grown increasingly impatient with the Waco standoff, which came to dominate the headlines-- preventing the administration from moving forward on health care reform (Hillarycare).

Clinton pressured Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster and Webb Hubbell to expedite a forceful resolution to the standoff.
Interesting. I can't help but wonder if Vince Foster found it all a bit troubling? But at this point, what difference does it make ?

The Sacred War - Army of Novorossiya (new Russia)
Forwarded by a colleague:

The song is entitled "Sacred War" and it was penned within one week after the Nazi Invasion in June of 1941. The communists quickly realized that very few of the common people were going to fight for Stalin and the Soviets, so they suddenly made appeals to fight for "the motherland." If you know the lyrics in Russian, it is a very powerful song, and given its given its emotional appeal and historical significance it is the exact song I would use if I were a Russian separatist.

Lyrics:

Arise, vast country,
Arise for a fight to the death
Against the dark fascist forces,
Against the cursed hordes.

Chorus: (2x)
Let noble wrath
Boil over like a wave!
This is the peoples' war,
a sacred war!

We shall repulse the oppressors
Of all ardent ideas.
The rapists and the plunderers,
The torturers of people.

Chorus

The black wings shall not dare
Fly over the Motherland,
On her spacious fields
The enemy shall not dare tread!

Chorus

We shall drive a bullet into the forehead
Of the rotten fascist filth,
We shall build a solid coffin
For the scum of humanity!

In Ukraine, tragic but fake death of heroic nurse who was actually a porn star
BERLIN -- The story making the rounds on the Russian version of Facebook (Vkontakte) would be truly horrific, if not for the "truly" bit.

A heroic young ethnic Russian nurse, working the front lines of the war between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russia separatists, was captured by the Ukrainians. After dragging her back to their camp and abusing her (in such a vile manner that the description is no more specific, though it is noted that "they recorded their fun on video"), one of the Ukrainian soldiers grabbed an ax and decapitated her.

The name of the heroic nurse is given on the "Aid for Donbas" page as Sasha Serova, and while they don't give her age, they do run a photo showing a beautiful dark-haired woman, with surprisingly come-hither eyes.

Or not so surprising. The actual surprise was to Sasha Grey (in Russian, that would be Serova), the woman in the photo. Sasha Grey, though, is the adult-film star name for Marina Ann Hantzis. Born in Sacramento, she lives in California, has made at least 171 porn films...
Well, she does have quite a resume.

#2  You mean the Russians are making shit up to stir their people to exterminate the Ukrainians?

Gosh. Who would have guessed?

Here's how batshit the Russians are: There's an online game where you get into goofy fights with WWII-era tanks and aircraft. For most of the game's life, you could put flags on your tank; lots of people put their home country's flags on tanks, or a joke flag (like North Korea).

Well, the company running the game now says they have to make it harder to put flags on tanks, because people were plastering Ukrainian flags all over their tanks and playing on the Russian servers. The Russian players would get their teeny weenies in a knot and attack Ukrainian-flagged tanks ON THEIR OWN SIDE.

Most people would say "ban the idiots", but the company is based in Russia, so that's the last thing they could do...

Europe
Eurozone Agrees Greece Loan Extension
[An Nahar] Greece will prioritize EU-acceptable reforms, a government source said Friday after eurozone finance ministers granted Athens a four-month loan extension.
And then it will start all over again.
"The new Greek government will present its batch of reforms for the next intermediate phase, giving priority to those that constitute common ground such as combating tax evasion, corruption, restructuring public administration and dealing with the humanitarian crisis," the source said.

"The Greek government will calmly proceed with its government work, with Greek society on its side, and will continue negotiations until the final deal in the summer," it said.

The Grand Turk
Turkey investigates allegations of plot against Erdogan's daughter
[The Peninsula] Turkish prosecutors on Friday launched an investigation into claims by pro-government media that the top foe of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
had ordered the liquidation of his daughter.

Pro-government dailies Star, Aksam and Gunes alleged on their front pages on Friday that the plot to assassinate 29-year-old Sumeyye Erdogan had been ordered by US-based preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the president accuses of seeking to overthrow him.

Gulen's lawyer as well as an opposition politician accused in the plot strongly denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
and called them a smear campaign.

The allegations were based on alleged Twitter messages between Umut Oran, a politician from the main opposition Republican People's Party, and Fuat Avni, a mysterious government whistleblower.

The chief prosecutor's office in Ankara deemed the reports as a "tip-off" and launched an investigation.

So he sends a list of his desires to the House, I mean the Republican-controlled House. And they write a bill that doesn't give him that, which they and the Republican-controlled Senate pass. Then President Obama vetoes the bill that doesn't give him what he wants, which means... he gets nothing at all. An interesting conundrum.

Peshawar hires 'rat killer' to tackle rodent problem
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A government agency in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
has hired a man who claims to have killed 100,000 rats in a bid to rid the northwestern Pak city of the rodents that plague its streets.
"Paging Mr. Whittington! Pick up the white courtesy phone!"
Nasser Ahmad, who has been assigned the straightforward job title of "Rat Killer", will receive a monthly salary of 15,000 rupees ($147), as well as a 2,000-rupee bonus per mission.

Ahmad says he has already killed more than 100,000 rats in the past 19 months, inspired to take action after seeing the wife of a friend hospitalized after being bitten by one of the rodents.

"We have been receiving complaints about the growing number of rodents in the city, which were causing damage to the fabric of houses and shops, and contaminating food," Nasir Ghafoor, the general manager of Water Supply and Sanitation Peshawar, told AFP.

"I called Ahmad and gave him a job in the firm, creating for the first time in the history of the city the post of rat killer."

Ahmad, who has thus far done the job with just a hoe, a wheelbarrow and plastic gloves, has been assigned a staff of five, and plans to train others in a bid to tackle Peshawar's rat problem.

Marie Harf Honors Thesis: How Conservative Support for IS Complicates US Foreign Policy
[Daily Caller] State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf wrote her college honors thesis on "how conservative evangelical support for Israel complicates U.S. foreign policy," according to Indiana University records.
Hmmm, let me think. Yes, Christians and Jews, both problematic actually. You must have read my honors thesis ?
Harf's thesis further illustrates the collegiate thinking in an Obama administration that has alienated a key American ally in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Harf, 33, previously worked on Obama's 2012 campaign.

Harf's Indiana University honors political science professor said that Harf did not plan to pursue political science like her professor father Jim, but that she ended up becoming "pretty good" at it.
Provocative thesis clipped to her CV. Bring her in for an interview, and call the director's secretary. He may wish to sit in.

#1  The sooner this riff-raff is swept out of Washington D.C. the better. Watching this administration over the past 6+ years has been to experience the devolution of governance by adults to the equivalent of governance by high school sophomores.
