Gov. Abbott slams Biden for 'failure' at minors facilities. DHS reportedly considers flying migrants to states near Canadian border.
[BLAZE] The Biden administration is currently considering flying migrants to states near the Canadian border, according to the Washington Post.

Citing two unnamed Department of Homeland Security officials and an email, the report states, "A new spike in the number of families and children crossing the Rio Grande into South Texas over the past several hours is forcing U.S. Customs and Border Protection to request airplanes that will allow the Biden administration to transport migrants to states near the Canadian border for processing."

Friday afternoon's report of relocating migrants from the southern border to the northern border comes at the same time that the Biden administration is being slammed for "unsafe" minor migrant facilities. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott released a scathing statement blasting the Biden administration for its "abject failure" in handling the immigration crisis, especially with migrant children.

"The Biden Administration has been an abject failure when it comes to ensuring the safety of unaccompanied minors who cross our border," Abbott said in Friday's statement. "The conditions unaccompanied minors face in these federally run facilities is unacceptable and inhumane."

Abbott revealed that the water is unsafe at the federally-run unaccompanied minor migrant facility in Midland, Texas. Abbott said, "The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality has notified the Midland facility of their need to address the serious water issues."

Abbott also noted that there has been a COVID-19 outbreak at the Carrizo Springs facility. Abbott deployed the Texas Department of State Health Services resources and personnel to the facility, which houses minors ages 13-17.

"The Biden Administration has no excuse for subjecting these children to these kinds of conditions," Abbott's statement reads. "President Biden's refusal to address the border crisis is not only enabling criminal actors like human traffickers and smugglers, but it is exposing innocent unaccompanied children to illness and potentially unsafe living conditions. The administration must act now to keep these children safe, secure our border, and end this humanitarian crisis."

"The Biden Admin. has turned a humanitarian crisis into a complete disaster," Abbott tweeted. "They were unprepared for open border policies."

During an appearance on Fox News, Abbott said the massive surge of children coming to the U.S. border is a hotbed for human trafficking.

"I made a direct plea to the Biden administration a couple of days ago for Texas and our professionals in this state that deal with human trafficking all the time to have access to these minors who have come across the border to learn more about how they were trafficked here, and then we received word yesterday from the Biden administration that they would allow no such thing because they want to continue the cover-up," Abbott said on Friday. "This is a crisis that is being made worse by the fact that the Biden administration is subjecting even more children to come into Texas or coming across our border who are going to be victimized by these cartels."

Abbott added that the overflow of migrants from Central and South America are bringing variants of COVID-19.

"Now the Biden administration is importing more COVID into the U.S that they could be keeping them out if they were securing the border," the Republican governor of Texas said.

Afghanistan
1399 A Tough Year for Afghan Forces: Miakhil
[ToloNews] The deputy defense minister, Shah Mahmood Miakhil, has said that 1399 (March 21, 2020 to March 21, 2021) was a tough year for Afghan forces as they shouldered the responsibility for over 95% of counterterrorism operations and meanwhile, the fighting did not stop during the winter.

At least 40% of the country’s territories witnessed festivities between government forces and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
over the last few weeks, according to security agencies.

The Ministry of Defense said that the Afghan forces retook control of eight districts from the Taliban in the last year.

Violence was expected to reduce with the signing of the Doha agreement in February, but it gradually increased weeks after the accord was signed. The fighting even reached outskirts of cities that were not supposed to be attacked following the deal. Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Farah, Baghlan, Kunduz and Faryab are the provinces that have witnessed most of the fighting over the last year.

"In fact, there were many hardships because they (Afghan forces) received the responsibilities along with reduction in the number of international forces. It was a new phase, and it was not easy," Deputy Defense Minister Shah Mahmood Miakhil said.

The festivities in various parts of the country displaced thousands of families. The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said this month that more than 70,000 households were displaced this year, most of them due to insecurity.

Kunduz with 10,000 displaced families had the highest number of the internally displaced persons in the solar year 1399.

"Chahab (district in Takhar) is faced with heavy fighting. Our house was damaged. We have come here (in Kunduz) and we are living under a tent," said Naz, member of a displaced family in Kunduz.

The Ministry of Defense said that at least 18,000 Taliban members were killed in conflicts in solar year 1399, but he Taliban has not confirmed the figure and have did not provide information in this respect. The Taliban reiterated that they did not have any spring offensive following the February deal.

"We will witness more incidents and more intense attacks by the Taliban if experienced military officers are not deployed to volatile areas (in Baghlan)," said Atiq Rain, an MP from Baghlan.

The unprecedented rise in assassinations that sometimes happened daily for four to five consecutive days was a new trend of violence during the solar year in which civil society activists, political activists, media workers and babus government employees were targeted. Most of these attacks remained unclaimed. Some were claimed by ISIS.

The government blamed the Taliban for these attacks but the group rejected the claim.

...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
commission’s report, 2,909 non-combatants were killed and 5,494 others were maimed in security incidents like bombings, car kabooms and assassinations.

The figures show that of those killed, 543 were children and 323 were women.

The UN sees the Taliban responsible for 46% of civilian casualties, Daesh for 8% and pro-government forces for 24% of the casualties.
"We call on the international community and the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
to use their leverage on both sides to reduce violence and agree on ceasefire," said Zabihullah Farhang, a front man for Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission. "The tactics that have been used such as roadside kaboomings and car kabooms have led to more civilian deaths and there were assassinations, too."

The United Nations has recorded 3,035 deaths and 5,785 maimed during the solar year 1399 (March 2020 to March 2021).

The figures by the two organizations show that most of the deaths are due to assassinations, blasts and attacks.

This comes as the Moscow conference on Afghanistan’s grinding of the peace processor on Thursday, a joint statement was issued in which four primary representatives of countries like Russia, China, the US, and Pakistain stated that they will never support the re-emerge of the Islamic Emirate system in Afghanistan.

The statement also determined the will of the Afghan people for a prolonged peace, the representatives also called for a reduction of violence from all sides, stressed on Taliban not to launch spring offensives, and reiterated the need for a politically negotiated settlement for the Afghan conflict.

"As stated in the UNSC resolution 2513 (2020), we do not support the restoration of the Islamic Emirate and we call on the government of the Islamic and the High Council for National Reconciliation to engage openly with their Taliban counterparts regarding a negotiated settlement," the statement read.

According to the statement involved bodies in intra-Afghan negotiations are required to immediately engage in discussing fundamental issues for finding a solution to end the conflict.

It is iterated in the statement that both the Afghan government and the Taliban should not let the Afghan soil be used as a threat to the security of other nations.

"We call on all parties to the conflict in Afghanistan to reduce the level of violence in the country and on the Taliban to not to pursue a spring offensive, so as to avoid further casualties and to create an environment conducive to reaching a negotiated settlement," the statement indicated.

"We recognize and welcome all international efforts that are underway to facilitate and support a negotiated settlement as soon as possible" the statement read.

'No indications' of withdrawal of Russian mercenaries from Libya, says UN report
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] There have been "no indications" that around 2,000 Russian mercenaries have withdrawn from Libya, despite official calls for them to do so, according to a United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
report.

The new report from UN experts warned that an embargo that had been imposed on Libya since 2011 was "totally ineffective", citing "extensive, blatant" violations by actors, including UN member states.

The six experts, who were charged with monitoring the embargo on the war-torn country, said numerous actors, including private mercenaries and non-state gangs, were guilty of violations.

The report said around 2,000 Russian mercenaries from the private Wagner Group had been deployed in Libya, adding to previous reports which said up to 13,000 Syrian rebels and Chadian or Sudanese fighters were in the country, acting for various sides.

Has Turkey Given its Orders to Syrian Mercenaries in Libya to Return?
[LIBYAREVIEW] Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian fighters in Libya have been informed to pack up and prepare themselves to return to Syria. These orders came from the Ottoman Turkish government, reliable sources told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Friday. This development comes in light of Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. ’s new political stance towards the Arab region through attempts to amend its diplomatic and political relations with Egypt.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
the return of groups of Syrian mercenaries was suspended since mid-November 2020. On February 13th, SOHR sources reported that the return of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian mercenaries was completely suspended. Some of these mercenaries in Libya confirmed that they were not asked to prepare to return.

The SOHR noted that 6,750 Syrian fighters of Ottoman Turkish-backed factions maintained in Libya, and the operations which took place since November were only change of shifts, as some groups returned to Syria while other groups were sent to Libya.

The presence of foreign mercenaries in Libya has continued despite all international demands, the Libyan-Libyan agreement and the passing of the deadline given to foreign mercenaries to leave Libya. According to the Libyan-Libyan agreement, imported muscle (mercenaries) were supposed to withdraw from Libya within three months after the ceasefire came into force on October 23rd, 2020.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of recruits who arrived in Libya approximated 18,000 Syrian mercenaries, including 350 children under the age of 18, of whom 10,750 returned to Syria after completing the duration of their contracts and receiving their financial dues. While the number of jihadists who were transported from Syria to Libya reached 10,000, of whom 2,500 were Tunisians.

EU: We are Ready to Participate in Monitoring Ceasefire in Libya Once Requested
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Saturday, the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, confirmed the EU’s readiness to participate and cooperate in monitoring the ceasefire in Libya, provided there is a request from the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
(UN).Borrel visited Rome where he was asked about possible cooperation between the European operation Irini and the UN concerning the ceasefire. Borrell said that "the role of the EU-led Irini is not to monitor the ceasefire, but to control the arms embargo on Libya. It was launched a year before the ceasefire and has nothing to do with monitoring the ceasefire."

He confirmed that "this does not mean that the EU is not ready to participate and cooperate in monitoring the ceasefire," he added. If the UN asked for support, I am sure that the EU and its member states will be willing to consider this request."

The European official also confirmed that in the coming days he will present his candidate for the post of European Special Envoy to Libya to the European Foreign Ministers. He said that "the problem is that I have many good candidates and I have to choose one of them."

Tuareg Tribal Leaders Affirm their Support of Dbaiba's Government in Libya
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Saturday, the notables and leaders of the Tuareg tribes in Libya held a meeting in Ubari city. During this meeting they agreed to unify the Social and Supreme Councils in a single body, provided that all practical and final arrangements will be made within a maximum period of two months.

In a statement, the tribal Sheikhs affirmed their support for the Government of National Unity (GNU), headed by Abdulamid Dbaiba, in its work to establish the foundations of peace and reconciliation in all parts of Libya.

The Tuareg notables also called on the GNU to urgently fulfil its obligations to alleviate the suffering of all Libyans, especially the southern tribes.

The GNU, selected through a United Nations

#13  The Tuaregs mainly dwelt in the Sahara desert, and had no connection with Spain at all. They controlled trade routes through the central Sahara until the French took over the area. The first hit they received was when the French formed separate countries each of which controlled parts of the Sahara in each of which the Tuaregs were a small minority. The second hit was when those countries gained independence, at which time their central governments mostly were very unfriendly to the Tuaregs. Conflicts between the Tuaregs and those governments, the war in Libya and some natural disasters have left most Tuaregs as paupers in refugee camps.

...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, requires governments to adopt legislation prosecuting domestic violence and similar abuse as well as marital rape and female genital mutilation.

Conservatives had claimed the charter damages family unity, encourages divorce, AFP reported.

The publication of the decree in the official gazette early Saturday sparked anger among rights groups and calls for protests in Istanbul.

Gokce Gokcen, deputy chairperson of the main opposition CHP party said abandoning the treaty meant "keeping women second class citizens and letting them be killed."

"Despite you and your evil, we will stay alive and bring back the convention," she said on Twitter.

Turkey had been debating a possible departure after an official in Erdogan's party raised dropping the treaty last year.

...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
abruptly sacked The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
’s central bank chief on Saturday, two days after a sharp interest rate hike to head off inflation, replacing him with a former ruling party politician and critic of tight monetary policy.

Sahap Kavcioglu, a former member of parliament for Erdogan’s AK Party, replaces Naci Agbal who was appointed less than five months ago. Below are some reactions from analysts:

Selva Demiralp, director of the Koc University-Tusiad Economic Research Forum, in Istanbul:

"This move clarifies what the president meant by ’putting price stability aside’ when he announced the economic reform package last Friday. It is worrisome because I now expect economic policy to literally put price stability aside.

"This implies that the government will once again try to stimulate the economy by low interest rate policies. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
pushing short term stimulus against longer term risks can not be a hand that can be overplayed. I am worried because such a priority has a high potential to backfire by causing extreme pressures on the TL (Ottoman Turkish lira) and contracting the economy even further.

"Agbal was one of the most successful central bank governors appointed by the AK Party. He adopted a long term perspective, a conventional approach with clear communication. He took over an economy at the edge of the cliff and took the right steps to reestablish credibility from zero. Unfortunately, he is not given a chance to finish what he started."

Miami imam slams normalization with ‘descendants of pigs and apes’
MEMRI has stories like this every week. Now that Israel is approaching the end of Covid, and Bibi Netanyahu’s fourth reelection is only days away, The Times of Israel is returning to normal concerns.
[IsraelTimes] Fadi Yusef Kablawi in sermon tells mosque-goers peace with Jews is for ’losers’ and ’criminal’ Jews behind all corruption worldwide.

A Miami-based imam criticized those who seek peace and normalization with Jews, whom he referred to as "the offspring of apes and pigs" that are behind all corruption worldwide, in a Friday sermon.

Imam Dr. Fadi Yusef Kablawi’s speech at the North Miami Islamic Center
...not to be confused with Islamic Center of North Miami, Islamic Center of Greater Miami (ISNA — Muslim Brotherhood), or North East Islamic Community Center (for Turkish Americans)...
was posted to the mosque’s Facebook page and translated this week by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"Some people talk about peace and normalization and say that these are good people... Are you crazy? You are fools, that is what you are," Kablawi said, likely referring to the recent signing of diplomatic agreements between Israel and various Arab and Moslem-majority states.

Israel established ties last year with the UAE and Bahrain in a US-brokered deal known as the Abraham Accords. Sudan, Morocco, and Kosovo followed suit shortly after.

"You sold your religion, your people, your creed, your nations, and your nationalism, and you stand for nothing, because you are losers," the imam said, adding that "you have nothing to stand up for, so you seek your honor from others... Who do you go to? The brothers of the apes and pigs. Huh? The offspring of pigs and apes — that’s who you seek you honor from?"

Extremist Islamists have often referred to Jews as pigs and apes, based on their interpretation of certain Koranic verses.

Kablawi’s Friday sermon also blamed Jews for spreading "corruption" upon the land.

"Criminals — [those] people are criminals. There is no corruption in the world that the [Jews] are not behind. [You should] know it for a fact," he said.

According to MEMRI, Kablawi is a dentist and had immigrated to the United States from Jordan.
Fadi Kablawi (Qablawi), head imam of the North Miami Islamic Center (NMIC) and FBI ’person of interest,’ is a radical Moslem’s radical. His targets comprise of Jews, Christians, homosexuals, women, Hindus and Moslems, even his fellow radical Moslems. This past July, he made the claim that Jews are behind all the corruption on Earth. He did so, during one of his Friday khutbas (sermons), in front of his congregation, which includes young and impressionable children. At times, he draws large crowds. Will Kablawi’s dangerous rhetoric drive one or more of his followers to commit acts of violence? Has it already?

Fadi Yusef Kablawi, a.k.a. Abu Ubeidah, was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1978. At the age of 17, he moved to the US with his family. After finishing high school, Kablawi attended Florida International University (FIU) for his undergraduate studies and completed his doctoral degree in dental medicine, at the University of Pennsylvania, in 2005. Working alongside his wife, he had a thriving Miami dentistry, until August 2017, when he was arrested for allegedly using his business to overcharge his patients and commit Medicaid fraud. A video news report depicts a somber Kablawi handcuffed and sporting an orange jumpsuit, standing in front of Bond Court judge, Mindy Glazer, who happens to be Jewish.

Incorporated in September 2010, the North Miami Islamic Center (NMIC), a.k.a. Masjid As Sunnah An Nabawiyyah, is the brainchild of Kablawi. In fact, the mosque’s colorful logo bears the name of Kablawi’s former corporation, al-Tayyib, which is as well the mosque’s website address, altayyib.com. A children’s school, Reviver Academy, shares the identical North Miami location of the mosque. According to Kablawi, he created the school in order to provide a pure and unfiltered form of Islam for the kids. Photos and video footage from the school show the children using the same area of the mosque where Kablawi emits his hate speech.

This past July, hundreds of mosque goers packed Kablawi’s NMIC, as Kablawi stood in front leading prayers. No doubt, his type of no frills Islamic fundamentalism has attracted a significant segment of the Moslem community. One must therefore question how much of Kablawi’s extreme and bigoted rhetoric has his congregants taken to heart, and are they willing to act on it, meaning violent mostly peacefully? One of his followers, Salman Rashid, this past December, was charged with soliciting ISIS to murder the deans of two South Florida colleges.
But Mr. Rashid’s ISIS contacts turned out to be FBI informants, with the usual result.
And according to Kablawi, he himself is considered by the FBI to be a member of ISIS.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan was not created to make Nawaz, Zardari rich
No, but it’s a happy outcome for certain parties nonetheless.
[DAILYTIMES.PK] Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
on Friday once again slammed the opposition for their alleged loot and plunder of the national wealth, saying Pakistain was not created to make PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif
...served two three non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
...former president of Pakistain, husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in...
rich.Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a newly established block at the University of Malakand in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the prime minister said that over the last 30 years, corrupt leaders continued to steal money from the national kitty. "The thieves themselves don’t know how much they have stolen from the country," he said, adding that it is the stolen wealth that has compelled their sons and daughters to lie to the public. "What’s the use of amassing wealth [through unfair means] when you have to either end up in the hospital or in jails," he said.

Imran Khan said that the PML-N repaid Rs 20,000 billion worth of loans, together with interest, in two-and-a-half years, while the PTI government repaid loans worth Rs 35,000 billion, with interest, within the same timeframe. "Our friends helped us out, so we saved the country from becoming a defaulter," he said, adding that when so much money goes into repayment of loans, nothing is left in the national exchequer to invest in education, hospitals or construction of roads.

The prime minister said the country’s wealth has been stolen for the past 30 years and its plunderers had either taken shelter in hospitals or fled away abroad to escape accountability. Happiness, he remarked, could only be achieved by following the right path and serving people with dedication and commitment. He said there is no shortcut in life for achieving goals and all objectives could be achieved through hard work and professionalism, adding that an aimless life destroys potential of individuals.

Imran Khan said Pakistain possessed all the potential to become a developed country and great responsibility lies on the educational institutions by bringing intellectual revolution among students as per Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal’s vision. He said the government is focusing on mega development projects to generate economic and financial resources. In addition to two mega projects of Bhasha and Mohmand dams to meet energy needs, Ravi and Business Cities are also being established in Lahore with potential to generate Rs 6000 billion revenue and promote economic activities, he said. The priority, he said, is being given to the construction industry keeping in view its enormous potential to generate employment opportunities, besides providing low-cost housing to poor, labourers, farmers and have-nots. Thirty industries will be directly benefited from the promotion of construction industry in Pakistain, he added.

#1  Pakistain is the result of criminal clans and hordes of recidivist offenders of one country demanding their own banana republic, citing religious persecution; and breaking away a chunk of the original country due to the weakness of hindoo hearts.

You can bet it was created for criminals, by criminals and dedicated to criminality. As is evident.

Demographic changes in IIOJK can push region to war: Masood
[DAILYTIMES.PK] The Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
(AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has warned that brazen demographic change by India in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)
Ooooh, he’s upping the ante from the merely bombastic Indian Occupied Kashmir that sufficed until today...
is creating tensions that could push the region to a disastrous war.He came up with the warning while addressing a virtual conference on "BJP’s Demographic Re-branding of IOJK: A critical Review Under Contemporary International Law" which was organized by the Islamabad Institute of Conflict Resolution (IICR) here on Friday.

The conference was also addressed by Security Analyst, Lt General (retd) Amjad Shoaib, Professor Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Professor Department of Law, International Islamic University, Islamabad, Mr Nasir Qadri, Human Rights Lawyer in IIOJK and Ms Sabah Aslam, Executive Director IICR.

In his address, the AJK president said that what India is doing in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is not just rebranding but a complete transformation of the demography and this demographic change is unprecedented in the 21st century.

He maintained that since the New Domicile Rules were adopted in April last year, more than 3.2 million Indian citizens have been issued domicile certificates in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir state, and this has been confirmed by Indian Minister for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy the other day.

"These demographic changes prepare the ground for settlements on the pattern of the Israeli settlements on Paleostine land," he said adding that massive investment is being diverted to entrepreneurs to make them a part of this settlement process. He said special colonies have been established in IOJK for army personnel, pundits and former Indian civil servants.

#1  Not only demographic changes. We aim to open Kashmir up to corporate builders, hotels, resorts, agriculturists, etc from all over India. Earlier only the bastards backed by jama'ats could take up jobs or do business there. Soon, Indians with diverse cultural backgrounds will work, own property and flourish in the new union territory.

US charges 10 Iranians with evading sanctions
[IsraelTimes] Suspects said to have conducted transactions on behalf of Tehran through over 70 front companies in US, Canada, UAE, and Hong Kong.

US authorities on Friday unveiled charges against 10 Iranians for allegedly evading American sanctions on Tehran by concealing more than $300 million in transactions over 20 years through front companies.

The individuals are believed to have conducted transactions on behalf of the Iranian government, including purchasing two $25 million oil tankers, through more than 70 front companies in the United States, Iran, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, the Justice Department said in a statement.

The suspects, who were also slapped with a money-laundering fine of more than $157 million, are believed to be outside the United States.

"Through the use of front companies, money service businesses and exchanges throughout the world, the defendants worked to disguise hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of transactions on behalf of a state sponsor of terrorism," John Demers, assistant attorney general for national security, was quoted as saying.

"Make no mistake, the Department of Justice will continue to deploy all tools necessary to curb the Iranian regime’s ability to use the US financial system to support its malign endeavors," he said.

If convicted of the conspiracy charge, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

aggressively using the measures to punish the Islamic republic. Trump in 2018 pulled the US out of the nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 world powers, signed in 2015 to lift sanctions in exchange for Tehran curbing its nuclear program.

In recent months, Iran has repeatedly taken steps to violate the deal and turn up the heat on the US, including by enriching uranium past the accord’s limits and barring UN inspections of its nuclear facilities.

The Biden administration has repeatedly said the US will return to the JCPOA, as the accord is formally called, if Tehran first returns to compliance. Iran has insisted the US remove sanctions before it returns to the deal’s terms, putting the two sides at a stalemate.

Israeli and US officials agreed to set up a joint team for sharing intelligence about Iran’s nuclear program during recent strategic talks, according to a report this week.

Talks last week were the first held by a bilateral group for cooperating in the effort to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear arms. The meeting was led by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and his Israeli counterpart Meir Ben-Shabbat.

Doctors Flee Crisis-Hit Lebanon
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] US-trained emergency doctor Nour al-Jalbout wanted desperately to serve her fellow Lebanese, but less than two years after returning home she says the country's catastrophes are forcing her to leave.
"I gave everything I had to Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. for these two years, but Lebanon is not giving back," she says, her eyes welling up above three face masks, inside a top Beirut hospital.

"So I applied for immigration to the US," she said, to take up a job offer at Harvard.

As soon as her visa is approved, she will join hundreds of doctors who are fleeing Lebanon's political and economic crises, even during a pandemic.

Doctors warn a country once dubbed "the hospital of the Arab world" is hemorrhaging its best and brightest.

Hair tied back into a floral surgeon's cap, the 32-year-old medic rushes around the bustling emergency department at the American University of Beirut Medical Center.

Her white coat streaked with blood from treating one patient's gunshot wounds, she holds up an X-ray to understand the pain of another visiting from a nearby Arab country.

In the corridor between the emergency and coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
wards under her watch, trainee doctors repeatedly approach her for a second opinion.

The decision to leave, she says, "eats you up every day".

But "you're doing what's best for you and your kids if you want to have a family."

Since starting work in September 2019, she has treated maimed protesters, witnessed economic freefall, fought a pandemic, and helped treat hundreds after a massive explosion in Beirut.

She was at the hospital on August 4 when hundreds of tonnes of fertilizer went kaboom! at the port, killing more than 200 people and sending shockwaves through the capital.

"The ceiling fell on us," she says, pausing between tears.

Up to 500 maimed streamed in, followed by desperate relatives looking for their loves ones.

Hours later, her husband told her their flat had been badly hit.

"Beirut is like opium," says Jalbout, whose anesthetist sister will also emigrate. "It's so good, but it's so bad for you."

Lebanon's worst economic crisis since the 1975-1990 civil war has hit even the top echelons of the population.

Doctors have seen their salaries or fees plummet in value, and their dollar savings trapped in the bank, all the while being overwhelmed by a deadly pandemic. Even basic medication has gone out of stock.

Many say they are far better off than most, but still see no future for their children.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?

Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.

If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!...

a deeply divided political class -- accused by many on the street of being useless and corrupt -- has for seven months been unable to form a government.

The head of the doctor's syndicate, Charaf Abou Charaf, says 1,000 doctors have left since 2019, while a similar number of nurses have departed as well, according to their representative.

Lebanese Mothers March against Ruling Class
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Around one hundred women demonstrated in crisis-hit Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. on Saturday on the eve of Mother's Day in the country, expressing outrage at the ruling class.

The mothers, some with their children, marched from an area once on Beirut's dividing line during the 1975-1990 civil war, to the city's port, which saw a catastrophic explosion last year -- blamed on official negligence -- that killed more than 200 people and injured thousands.

Chanting anti-government slogans, they held signs addressing the ruling class.

"You have stolen our money and our children's futures," several placards read.

"The best gift would be your leaving," read another.

Lebanon is battling its worst economic crisis in decades. The national currency has lost almost 90 percent of its value against the dollar on the black market and consumer prices have soared.

Some 55 percent of Lebanese now live below the poverty line, the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
says, and unemployment stood at 39.5 percent late last year.

The government resigned after the port explosion, but endless haggling between the main ruling parties has delayed the process of forming a new cabinet.
