Sources privy of the development within the Taliban leadership have said that the Afghan officials have held talks with the Taliban group representatives regarding the security of upcoming elections.
"They requested us to help them conduct peaceful elections," one of the Taliban leaders has told Rooters.
The Taliban leader further added that "The Afghan delegation has agreed with us on the release of prisoners."
He has also added that some prisoners facing minor charges had already been released and officials had divided up others into three categories, depending on their importance, for future release.
The Afghan government officials have not commented regarding the report so far.

[RADIOSHABELLE] Kenyan government on Thursday extended amnesty to Kenyans who have joined al-Shabaab ... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... Regional commissioner Mohammed Birik said the government was profiling Kenyans who may have been recruited into the militia.
He said that the government would offer amnesty to local al-Shabaab members if they came forward.
Mr. Birik said asked the recruits to denounce the group and even seek the government’s help.
"I want to assure those who will surrender within the three months period will be pardoned. This message should reach everybody. We will also ensure their safety," Birik said.
Birik noted that although the government has put measures to restore and sustain security in the region, the residents have even a bigger role to play.
"Criminals live within communities and it is necessary that residents volunteer relevant information to security officers," he said.
The administrator directed chiefs and their assistants operating from urban centers to immediately go back to their duty stations, saying their absence was partly to blame for insecurity in parts of the region.

Amounting to a total of €100 million to be disbursed from the fourth quarter of 2018 until 2021, this budget support will be channeled through the Federal Government using country systems.
Implementation will start in October following an agreement on safeguard measures, which will enable greater capacity support to the Federal Government and Federal Member States, better risk mitigation, verification and audit, as well as on performance indicators to incentivise reforms in the areas of public financial management, rule of law, fisheries, education among others.
With this budget support operation (also called State Building and Resilience Contract in Somalia), the European Union aims to support federalism in Somalia through increased and improved inter-governmental fiscal transfers from the Federal Government to its the Federal Member States.
It will also reinforce the social contract between the Federal Government and the Somali population by gradually increasing the role of the Somali authorities in the provision of basic services.

[DAWN] Two polio ...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set... workers were manhandled in Khuda Ki Basti area in Kotri on Wednesday over administration of polio drops to a child.
The family members snatched their boxes and misbehaved with lady health workers (LHWs) Sultana and Fatima. LHWs visited the house of one Majeed Bozdar in Khuda Ki Basti, but his family did not let them administer polio drops to the child on the ground that he was suffering from fever.
LHWs’ insistence on inoculating the child against polio led to an unpleasant situation and women members of the family snatched their boxes. Health officials were called by LHWs and later Kotri police were informed about it.
Police have picked up Majeed Bozdar.
Kotri ASP Suhaee Talpur said health officials avoided registration of FIR and said the family should apologise to them. She said the Bozdar family claimed that their child was already having a polio-like illness that was why they refused.
All Sindh LHW Employees Union condemned the incident, saying that if LHWs were provided security, the incident would not have occurred.
They were being forced to boycott the anti-polio campaign, but they would continue it. If a similar incident was repeated, they would resort to protest, they said.

Some of the bikers participating in a cycling event in Tel Aviv on Friday were forced to stop for a short while as they were blocked by residents of south Tel Aviv protesting the government's failure to deal with the phenomenon of the proliferation of Africa migrants colonists in their neighborhoods.
The activists from the "Front for the Liberation of South Tel Aviv" led by Shefi Paz blocked the path of cyclists taking part in the Cycle Tel Aviv event.
The activists held signs reading "Danger, hostile Eritrean territory" and "no entry to Jews" and called out to the riders: "Good morning, dear riders, welcome to South Tel Aviv. For those who don’t know, it is dangerous here. Pray that you can leave safely.
"You ride in safety and we live in fear, you ride a bike and we have been living for ten years in madness and inside a ghetto, and the State of Israel does nothing," was the message they told the bikers.
The activists clashed with some of the riders, who were forced to slow down because of the protest, some shouting at the demonstrators "Come on, this is neither the time nor the place."
Police removed the demonstrators from the road. According to them, before the race, the activists were warned to avoid disrupting the cycling route.
"The police in the area removed the rioters from the road and allowed the safe passage of the riders to continue," read a statement issued by the police after the demonstration. "The Israel Police will continue to secure the cycling routes throughout Tel Aviv and allow the tens of thousands of participants to have a safe and enjoyable ride."
The bicycle event, which is taking place in Tel Aviv for the tenth year, has about 30,000 participants. Hundreds of coppers were placed along the main traffic arteries, but could not prevent the activists running on to the road. As part of the event, many roads were blocked, including large sections of the Ayalon South route.
At around 12:00, the police announced that all the closed roads had been reopened.
