Al-Shabaab briefly Seizes Sabiid Near Mogadishu, 80 Shaboobs toes up in counterattack
[Garowe] A senior Somali Army commander, Mohammed Nur, known as Jareere, and several of his bodyguards were killed in a kaboom by al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
murderous Moslems Thursday morning near No. 50 area in the Lower Shabelle region.

The commander, along with his troops from the SNA's 14th October Division, had been traveling from Awdheegle town to reinforce the troops in Sabiid, about 40 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu after it was attacked by al-Shabaab krazed killers.

Reports indicate that Nur and at least five of his bodyguards were killed when their convoy was struck by an improvised bomb (IED) between Awdheegle and Sabiid. Several others were maimed in the blast.

The situation in Sabiid and the nearby town of Caanoole outside Afgooye district remains tense, with both residents and security forces working to regain control of the area from the krazed killers.

Somali Government forces have launched counter-offensives to secure the area after al-Shabaab withdrew.

Earlier this month, al-Shabaab grabbed credit for an ambush that killed another senior Somali Army officer, Abukar Abdulle "Garmaqate," near the village of Boos Hareeri in the Middle Shabelle region.

Somali Forces Kill Over 80 Al-Shabaab Militants in Airstrikes Near Afgoye

[ShabelleMedia] Somali forces launched a counteroffensive after al-Shabaab militants attacked Sabiid and Anole, two small but strategically important villages near Afgoye, earlier on March 20.

The National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA] reported that more than 80 militants were killed in six airstrikes conducted on Thursday, March 21.

in several districts of the Middle Shabelle region, the military said.

General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, commander of the SNA Ground Forces, who is stationed on the frontlines, confirmed that significant efforts are underway to eliminate al-Shabaab from the region.

He praised the bravery of the SNA and local forces for their recent victories against the terrorist group.

Once dominant in many parts of Somalia, the group appears to retreat, having abandoned several areas it once controlled.

Al-Shabaab has been responsible for numerous attacks in Mogadishu and elsewhere in the country since it started it war against Somali government and AU troops.

Al-Shabaab Attacks Security Base in Waajid, Somali Forces Capture Key Operative
[ShabelleMedia] Al-Shabaab militants launched an attack on a security outpost manned by South West State forces in Waajid, a district in Somalia’s Bakool region, leading to a brief but intense clash, authorities said Friday.

The firefight, which lasted for an extended period, saw both sides exchange heavy gunfire. However, South West State officials reported that their forces successfully repelled the attackers, capturing several militants and confiscating weapons.

In an official statement, South West State authorities confirmed the arrest of a key Al-Shabaab media operative, identified as Abdullahi Ahmed Mohamed (also known as Abdiasis). The suspect, who was reportedly filming the attack, has been detained in Waajid prison, where he is undergoing interrogation. Security forces also seized his recording equipment.

Additionally, local security forces said they had discovered and neutralized multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Al-Shabaab operatives. The explosives were found near Waajid’s airport and along a key road connecting the town to the airstrip.

Authorities in Waajid have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security and preventing further attacks by Al-Shabaab, which has been waging an insurgency in Somalia for years.

on Tuesday.

The missile launch came a day after Houthi rebel media in Yemen accused the US of attacking the airport in the rebel-held port city of Hodeida, the latest such claim since Washington announced heavy strikes against the Iran-backed group a week ago.

Al-Masirah TV, blaming "American aggression," said three attacks had targeted the airport in Hodeida on the Red Sea coast.

Between Wednesday and Friday, the Iran-backed rebels’ television channel made similar accusations, after United States Central Command on Wednesday confirmed "continuous operations" against the Houthis and US President Donald Trump

said they will be "annihilated."

On March 15, the US announced a wave of Arclight airstrike

s that officials said killed senior Houthi leaders, and which the rebels’ health authorities said killed 53 people.

The strikes, the first since Trump resumed office, came after the group threatened to renew attacks on Israeli shipping.

They have since renewed their attacks on Israel and have launched several ballistic missiles since the IDF resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip earlier this week. The missiles have all been intercepted by Israeli air defenses or fallen short of reaching Israel, but have nevertheless sent much of the country scrambling to shelter.

On Saturday, a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, apparently aimed at Israel, was said by a defense source to have fallen short in Saudi Arabia.
*Snicker*
The missile was identified by the military, but sirens were not activated in Israel due to it not posing a threat. It was not immediately clear why the missile had failed to reach Israel or if it was even aimed at Israel.

19 defendants are in custody in connection with the terrorist attack at Crocus
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] At present, 19 defendants in the case of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall are in custody. This was reported on March 22 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

"At the moment, investigative actions have been completed with 19 people accused of committing terrorist crimes, who are in custody and continue to familiarize themselves with the case materials. A number of other defendants have been put on the wanted list," the Investigative Committee's Telegram channel quoted Petrenko as saying.

The investigation concluded that the terrorist attack was organized by six citizens from Central Asia. They were arrested in absentia and put on the wanted list. The representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation emphasized that the attack on Crocus was organized by the special services of an unfriendly state in order to destabilize the situation in Russia.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on the evening of March 22, 2024, terrorists broke into the Crocus City Hall, where the concert was to be held. They opened fire on the guests and employees of the concert hall, then started a fire. As a result of the terrorist attack, 144 people were killed, and another 551 people were injured.

Four direct perpetrators of the crime were detained on March 23. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist Act"). FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov announced the involvement of the Security Service of Ukraine in the terrorist act. He called for the SBU to be recognized as a terrorist organization.

The lawyer of one of the direct perpetrators of the crime in Crocus, Dalerdzhon Mirzoev (included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of terrorists and extremists) Oleg Vlasov said that the terrorists were studying the possibility of carrying out a terrorist attack on Red Square, as well as in a Moscow synagogue.

Investigation restores chronology of actions of accomplices in Crocus terrorist attack
[Regnum] Investigators have reconstructed in detail the chronology of the accomplices' actions in preparation for the terrorist attack committed on March 22, 2024, at the Crocus City Hall concert hall. This was reported on March 22 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

According to the official representative of the Investigative Committee, those who helped the perpetrators of the terrorist attack rent housing, provided them with transport and weapons, and financed the terrorists’ activities were brought to criminal responsibility depending on their role in committing the crimes.

“The investigation has reconstructed in detail the chronology of the accomplices’ actions during the preparation for the crime, at the time of the attack on the concert hall visitors, during the attempt to escape, right up until their detention by law enforcement officers,” the department’s Telegram channel quoted her as saying.

Petrenko added that the collected body of evidence makes it possible to draw a conclusion about the involvement of the defendants in the criminal case in the incriminated crimes.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier on March 22, Petrenko said that the terrorist attack in the Crocus concert hall was organized by the secret services of an unfriendly state. According to her, the organizers recruited members of an international terrorist organization to commit the crime.

On March 22, 2024, armed terrorists stormed the Crocus City Hall concert hall, opened fire from automatic weapons on visitors and employees of the hall and started a fire. As a result of the crime, 144 people were killed, and another 551 people were injured. The Investigative Committee opened several criminal cases on this fact, including under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). Four direct perpetrators were detained by law enforcement officers on March 23.

FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov later stated that the Security Service of Ukraine was involved in the terrorist attack at Crocus. He also called for recognizing this agency as a terrorist organization.

In January 2025, the Investigative Committee reported that 27 people had been charged in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack case. On March 3, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, announced the completion of the investigation, adding that investigators had completed their work in less than a year. The materials were handed over to the accused and their lawyers for review.

More than 1,000 candles lit in Melitopol in memory of those killed in Crocus
[Regnum] Volunteers of the "Young South" movement lit more than a thousand candles in Melitopol in memory of those killed on March 22, 2024, as a result of the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region. This was reported on March 22 by the Ministry of Youth Policy of the Zaporizhia region.

Activists laid out the words “We remember Crocus 03/22/2024” with candles as a symbol of grief and memory of the victims of the terrorist attack.

"Today we have gathered here to light candles of memory in honor of those who fell victim to the tragedy at Crocus City Hall. This action is not just a symbol of grief, it is our response to cruelty, our way of reminding that love and unity are always stronger than any evil," said the head of the youth movement, Yulia Klimenko.

Earlier, on March 22, a memorial to the victims was opened near the Crocus City Hall concert hall. The monument is a black granite stele depicting flying cranes. It is located opposite the concert hall and the second pavilion of Crocus Expo.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on March 22, 2024, terrorists broke into the Crocus City Hall, opened fire on visitors and employees of the concert hall and started a fire. As a result of the terrorist attack, 144 people were killed, and another 551 were injured.

The Investigative Committee opened several criminal cases, including under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist Act"). 12 people were arrested. Currently, 19 defendants are already in custody.

In December 2024, law enforcement officers detained four Batalkhadzhin terrorists (the movement is recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation). It was established that they helped to organize a terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall. During the search, weapons were found on them, and correspondence with the leaders of the organization hiding abroad was found on their mobile phones.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on March 22, the official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko said that the terrorist attack in the Crocus concert hall was organized by the special services of an unfriendly state. According to her, the organizers recruited members of an international terrorist organization to commit the crime in order to destabilize the situation in Russia. The investigation concluded that the terrorist attack was organized by six citizens from Central Asia. They were arrested in absentia and put on the wanted list.

Trump cancels 'parole' program for Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela, tells 532,000 migrants to self-deport
More on this story from yesterday.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] The Trump administration has brought the Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela

...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south...

(CHNV) immigration parole program to an end, ending work permits and legal status that some immigrants colonists have had as they were brought into the US under the Biden administration.

Under the policy, a total of 532,000 immigrants colonists from Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, and Nicaragua were brought into the United States, according to a memo released by the Department of Homeland Security ending the policy as framed by an executive order that President Donald Trump
...Never got invited to a P.Diddy party...
signed on his first day in office.

The Trump administration has also encouraged those now illegally in the US to self-deport after the program's end, with the memo noting, "Parolees without a lawful basis to remain in the United States following this termination of the CHNV parole programs must depart the United States before their parole termination date."

DHS said the agency "is terminating the categorical parole programs for inadmissible aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members" that the DHS "announced in 2022 and 2023" under Biden. All protections for those who were admitted under the program end on April 30. DHS will also seek the arrest and deportation of those who ignore the policy change and do not depart from the United States.

"These programs do not serve a significant public benefit, are not necessary to reduce levels of illegal immigration, did not sufficiently mitigate the domestic effects of illegal immigration, are not serving their intended purposes, and are inconsistent with the Administration's foreign policy goals," the DHS notice added, highlighting that the parole program is typically used for "urgent humanitarian reasons," on a case-by-case basis instead of allowing for mass migration.

Hamas confirms senior political official killed in southern Gaza airstrike overnight
[IsraelTimes] The Hamas terror group confirms earlier reports that an Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed one of its senior political leaders overnight.

Pro-Hamas media had reported that Salah al-Bardawil and his wife were killed in an airstrike on Khan Younis, in the south of the Palestinian enclave.

Bardawil was a well-known member of the terror group’s political wing who gave media interviews over the years.

He is the latest in a string of Hamas political officials to have been killed in renewed Israeli airstrikes after the terror group’s de facto government head Essam Addalees and internal security chief Mahmoud Abu Watfa were killed on Tuesday, along with several other officials.

Hamas-run medical authorities in Gaza say that at least 19 people were killed in strikes overnight, including Bardawil.

The European and Kuwaiti hospitals confirm the toll, which does not differentiate between combatants and civilians, and say that the numbers include several women and children.

and the planned removal of the country’s top gatekeepers drew larger crowds than those amassed at recent weekend rallies.

At Tel Aviv’s Habima Square, tens of thousands filled the plaza and spilled out into the surrounding streets for the weekly anti-government demonstration — a marked increase from previous weekends when roughly half of the square remained empty.

The surge in attendance was sparked by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bid to fire Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and assert greater control over the levers of power.

The rally at Habima Square preceded a second demonstration at the nearby Hostages Square — with thousands marching from one protest to the other — where the public answered a call from the Hostages and Missing Families Forum for a "rage rally" after the fragile two-month ceasefire in the Gaza Strip shattered earlier this week when Israel launched a large-scale aerial offensive followed by a renewed ground campaign.

Over 1,500 faculty members at universities across the country have joined a planned academic strike slated to take place on Sunday in what will likely lead to major class disruptions. The faculty members are receiving support from just about all of the country’s main universities.

"If we can organize a tax revolt, we will organize a tax revolt. We will not be accomplices in the destruction of democracy," Lapid said at the Saturday rally.
These people are vile, willing to undermine the safety of the nation in a time of war for their selfish political purposes. Nor do I forgive the Times of Israel, which is choosing to emphasize the anti-Bibiness if it all in their articles on the subject.
His comments echoed sentiments expressed by both the Israel Business Forum and the Histadrut labor union on Friday, which warned that they won’t sit idly by if the government defies the High Court.

RALLIES FOR THE HOSTAGES
As the protest in Habima Square drew to an end, organizers asked participants to join a march to a rally in solidarity with the hostages at the nearby Begin Gate where attendees would merge with those coming from the rally across the street at Hostages Square.

Ahead of the Hostages Square rally, the relatives of several of the Gaza captives delivered a weekly statement to the press, slamming Netanyahu for not prioritizing the return of their loved ones over the effort to dismantle Hamas’s military and governing capabilities.

The protest was the first of the weekly Saturday night demonstrations since Netanyahu ordered the resumption of fighting in Gaza overnight Monday-Tuesday and vowed that future ceasefire negotiations would only take place under fire after Hamas rejected Israel’s proposals to extend phase one of the truce rather than proceed to the second phase.

Addressing the masses at Hostages Square for the first time was also former hostage Doron Steinbrecher, who was one of the first to be released during the recent two-month ceasefire.

She told the crowd that she feels “anger toward those who think it’s okay to go back to fighting” in Gaza rather than stick to the original terms of the ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas.

“How are you not listening to us? How?” she asked of them. “The feeling there, after so much time, is that you’ve been abandoned. And that’s a pain that is impossible to put into words.”

Steinbrecher said that until her release in January, she used to dream about coming to Hostages Square.

“We knew there was a square. We knew there was a place where people came every Saturday and that there was a group of people who knew there were hostages and who didn’t carry on with life as usual,” she said.

“It gives you power, a lot of power,” Steinbrecher continued. “It even makes you forget for a few moments the fear that you’ll be forgotten.”

Demonstrations weren’t limited to Tel Aviv, either, with thousands taking to the streets from the north to the south of the country, including in Haifa — where some 5,000 were said to be in attendance — as well as in Beersheba and Jerusalem.

As the Jerusalem rally drew to a close, a few dozen protesters marched to Netanyahu’s Azza Street residence, clashing with police after breaking through crowd control barriers.

Two demonstrators were arrested and taken to the nearby police station for booking.

Earlier in the night, cops were filmed forcefully shoving marchers as they neared Paris Square, near Netanyahu’s official residence.

A police spokesman said that “some demonstrators violated public order by blocking the intersection, igniting flares, and creating a safety risk for participants and other road users.”

Back in Tel Aviv, at least three protesters were arrested after descending onto the Ayalon Highway and temporarily blocking traffic by lying down on the tarmac. They too were removed and traffic resumed after only a brief delay.

6 rockets fired from Lebanon at Metula; IDF airstrikes hit dozens of Hezbollah launchers
[IsraelTimes] 3 rockets intercepted, 3 fall short in Lebanon; Hezbollah denies it fired; some Metula residents leave town; two said killed in Israeli strikes; IDF: It’s Lebanon’s job to uphold ceasefire

Six rockets were fired from Leb

s on dozens of Hezbollah rocket launchers and a command center used by the terror group in south Lebanon.

The IDF said air defenses intercepted three projectiles that crossed the border, while the other three rockets apparently fell short in Lebanon.

There were no reports of injuries or damage in the rocket attack.

Metula Mayor David Azoulai said some of the eight percent of the town’s residents who have returned since the November ceasefire left after the attack. "The return of residents to Metula under the current conditions is unreasonable. Metula residents won’t be held hostage to a security compromise," he said.

A number of hours later, the Hezbollah terror group denied being responsible for the rocket fire on northern Israel. In a statement, Hezbollah said it "reiterates its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and stands behind the Lebanese state in addressing this dangerous Zionist escalation against Lebanon."

The IDF initially responded to the attack with artillery fire against targets in south Lebanon.

The official National News Agency in Lebanon said Israeli planes were seen over eastern areas of southern Lebanon and that ground troops fired at the Hamames hills. It also reported Israeli artillery fire on the Nabatieh district in the south and the town of Khiam, which was hit by "three shells [fired by] Merkava tanks." Troops also fired automatic weapons at the border villages of Hula, Markaba and Kfar Kila, the news agency said.

The IDF later launched a wave of airstrikes on dozens of Hezbollah rocket launchers and a command center used by the terror group in Lebanon. It was unclear why Israel knew the location of the rocket launchers but had not previously targeted them.

The rocket attack "is a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and a direct threat to Israeli citizens," the military said, adding that "the State of Lebanon bears responsibility for upholding the agreement."

The IDF said that Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a situation assessment and that Home Front Command directives were unchanged.

Lebanese media reported that two people, including a girl, were killed in a strike on the town of Touline. Eight others were said to be injured.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said he instructed the IDF to respond to the rocket attack and also issued an apparent threat to strike Beirut.

"We will not allow a reality of fire from Lebanon on the Galilee communities. We have promised security to the Galilee communities, and that is exactly what will happen," he said in a statement.

Katz said that "the fate of Metula is the same as Beirut," in an apparent threat to the Lebanese capital.

"The Lebanese government bears responsibility for any fire from its territory. I have instructed the IDF to respond accordingly," he added.

A number of hours after the attack, Lebanese army said it located three makeshift rocket launchers between the south Lebanon towns of Kfar Tebnit and Arnoun, which were used to fire the rockets at Metula. In a statement, the Lebanese Armed Forces said it dismantled the launchers.

"Military units continue to take the necessary measures to control the situation in the south," the LAF added.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned his country was at risk of being drawn into a "new war."

"All security and military measures must be taken to show that Lebanon decides on matters of war and peace," Salam said.

"Salam warned of renewed military operations on the southern border, because of the risks they carry dragging the country into a new war, which will bring woes to Lebanon and the Lebanese people," a statement read.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
mayors of northern towns expressed their anger at the situation.

Metula’s Azoulay accused the government and the IDF Northern Command of trying "to normalize" a situation of occasional rocket fire from the north.

"We won’t allow them to normalize this. I call on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and of course IDF Northern Command head Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin to act offensively and make it so that not one bullet is fired ever again at northern communities," he told the Ynet news site.

"This is a failure, this is exactly the policy of containment of [before] October 7," he said. "Instead of dealing with nonsense, start providing security to the country’s residents."

Azoulay has in the past described his town as "the most bombarded" along Israel’s border with Lebanon. According to assessments, some 60 percent of homes and other municipal buildings in the town have been totally destroyed by Hezbollah attacks.

Kiryat Shmona mayor Avichai Stern issued a statement, asking the military’s Northern Command chief if he still believed it was safe for people to return to their homes near the border.

"I have just one question for the head of the IDF’s Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, who said that nothing is preventing a return to the north. Do you still think that?" Stern said in a statement cited by Hebrew media outlets.
