[KRQE] Schools were closed and emergency crews deployed on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini on Monday after a spike in seismic activity raised concerns about a potentially powerful earthquake.
The last time they had something big there, the Minoan bull-leaping civilization died.
Precautions were also ordered on several nearby Aegean Sea islands — all popular summer vacation destinations — after more than 200 undersea earthquakes were recorded in the area over the past three days.
“We have a very intense geological phenomenon to handle,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said from Brussels, where he was attending a European meeting. “I want to ask our islanders first and foremost to remain calm, to listen to the instructions of the Civil Protection (authority).”
[Breitbart] President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... praised Richard Grenell, Trump’s Presidential Envoy for Special Missions, after six Americans being held hostage in Venezuela
...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south... were released.
"Just been informed that we are bringing six hostages home from Venezuela," Trump wrote in a post on X. "Thank you to Ric Grenell and my entire staff. Great job!"
In a post on X, Grenell posted a photo of himself and the six Americans who were released from Venezuela, noting that they had spoken to Trump and "couldn’t stop thanking him."
"We are wheels up and headed home with these 6 American citizens," Grenell wrote. "They just spoke to @realDonaldTrump and they couldn’t stop thanking him."
The release of the six men comes after Grenell met with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro ...Commie el presidente para toda la vida of Venezuela, successor to Hugo Chavez. Nick is his country's attempt at producing a Muammar Qadaffy, except that even though his country's sitting on an enormous puddle of oil, he can't manage to get it out of the ground. Unlike Qadaffy and Hugo Chavez, he's not dead yet... , with the goal of Grenell’s visit being to "secure the release of Americans detained" in Venezuela, according to Rooters.
Officials within the Venezuelan government have reportedly accused Americans being held hostage in the country "of terrorism" and have reportedly described some as being "mercenaries," according to the outlet.
While the names of those who were released were not made available, there are reportedly "as many as 10 Americans" being detained by Venezuela, according to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

A guy I used to work with in labor relations described his negotiation approach as offering a choice "between an ice cream cone and a poke in the eye with a sharp stick".
I'd dearly love to know what the sharp stick was in this case...
[IsraelTimes] Australia says it is imposing sanctions on extreme right-wing online network "Terrorgram" as part of its efforts to combat a rise in antisemitism and online extremism, following similar moves by Britannia and the United States.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong says the government’s action will make it a criminal offense to engage with "Terrorgram" and will help prevent children from becoming caught up in far-right extremism.
"Terrorgram is an online network that promotes white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values... and racially-motivated violence," Wong says in a statement. "It is the first time any Australian Government has imposed counterterrorism financing sanctions on an entity based entirely online."
Offenders will face up to 10 years in jail and heavy fines, she says.
Wong also announces renewed sanctions on four right-wing groups: the National Socialist Order, the Russian Imperial Movement, Sonnenkrieg Division and The Base.
Australian authorities have vowed in recent weeks to tamp down on an escalating series of attacks on synagogues, buildings and cars targeting the country’s Jewish community.

I assume that’s not specific to current events, Grom. The current attacks I assume are a combination of Moslems (“Lebanese”), Antifa, yoots having nasty fun, and random people being paid by Iran, like Israel has been seeing.
Poor sportsmanship, and rude besides. But then Canadians are refusing to understand that the reason President Trump imposed tariffs on their goods is because they refuse to beef up security on their side of the border to prevent drug trafficking and illegal crossing of all sorts — whether migrants/colonists, human trafficking, or terrorists including jihadis. Easy peasy, and the tariffs would go away without regret or anger. But they prefer to loathe President OrangeManBad and those horrid MAGA people who dared defy their globalist elites and vote him into office.
TORONTO (AP) — Fans at a Toronto Raptors game continued an emerging trend Sunday of booing the American national anthem at pro sporting events in Canada.
Fans of the NBA’s lone Canadian franchise booed the anthem after similar reactions broke out Saturday night at NHL games in Ottawa, Ontario, and Calgary, Alberta, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump made his threat of import tariffs on America’s northern neighbor reality.
After initially cheering for the 15-year-old female singer, fans booed throughout “The Star-Spangled Banner” performance. At the end, mixed boos and cheers could be heard before the crowd erupted in applause for the Canadian anthem, “O Canada.”
Fans also booed Sunday night when Agasha Mutesasira began her performance of the American national anthem in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Sunday night when the NHL’s Canucks hosted the Detroit Red Wings.

Well, I think playing the national anthems at North American pro sports events are kind of silly. This isn't 1930 America, this is the 21st century where pro sports, especially baseball, ice hockey, and basketball have many foreign players. Leave the national anthems to international competitions at the country level, not professional sports.

This was in Canada, which I somehow didn’t catch on first reading. The answer is for the American team and their fans to walk out, leaving the game unplayed.
And for Canadian fans who try that at games south of the border: summary eviction with no refund for booing fans, ditto for booing players, and a substantial fine for the team. Fighting may be allowed (is it still? I don’t know these things), but poor sportsmanship must not be.

Screw Castro's illegitimate son and the crap country to our north. Trump should impose the same tariffs on ALL Canadian good as Canada does on our milk and eggs, 250% is the current number...

Trudeau agrees to border controls and Fentanyl interdiction. As with Mexico, tariff will be delayed 30 days:
I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly…
[DM] President Donald Trump threatened to cut all future funding to South Africa in an effort to punish the government for allowing what he called 'human rights violations.'
In the first month of his second presidential term, Trump has set to work imposing tariffs on foreign nations, sparking retaliatory measures in return from both Mexico and Canada.
Undeterred, Trump shared to Truth Social on Sunday that he's now set his sights on South Africa - in an apparent reaction to a new law over land expropriation.
'South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY,' he wrote.
'It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn't want to so much as mention.
'A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see. The United States won't stand for it, we will act.
'Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed!'
It is unclear what led to Trump's post, but his billionaire buddy Elon Musk, who has become a close ally of the President recently, was born in South Africa.
According to a statement from the South African government, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed an expropriation bill into law this month.
‘Local, provincial and national authorities will use this legislation to expropriate land in the public interest for varied reasons that seek, among others, to promote inclusivity and access to natural resources,’ the government said.

White South Africans are in physical danger. SecState Rubio should consider expedited asylum for actual endangered persons there, especially the farmers!

Beso, it's been low intensity armed conflict for decades. I don't see any internal way out for the Afrikaans. I'd put them on preferred immigrant status (but of course that would be RACISSS!!!)

How about we force recolonization and white rule in South Africa. It would be a major humanitarian effort. Because if the Africans succeed, South Africa will be the next Rhodesia. I refuse to refer to it as Zimbabwe.

It is our problem, this is why Trump is acting to cut the supply chain. What China thinks will not happen is when they get outed using their military for the processing and shipping of drug products. Once our stupid press scratch the surface on this fact, china will fold.

[PJMedia] Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino on Sunday, making it clear that the U.S. won’t tolerate China’s growing influence over the Panama Canal.
"Secretary Rubio informed President Mulino and Minister Martínez-Acha that President Trump has made a preliminary determination that the current position of influence and control of the Chinese Communist Party over the Panama Canal area is a threat to the canal and represents a violation of the Treaty Concerning the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal," the State Department said in a statement. "Secretary Rubio made clear that this status quo is unacceptable and that absent immediate changes, it would require the United States to take measures necessary to protect its rights under the Treaty."
The news had barely settled before another bombshell dropped: Panama has backed down.
Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino announced that after his meeting Rubio, his government will not renew its 2017 memorandum with China on the "Belt and Road Initiative." He also stated that Panama will seek to terminate its agreements with the Chinese government ahead of their scheduled end dates in 2027 and 2028.
"One important thing, which is a decision I made and communicated to you, is that the 2017 MoU on the Silk Road, the Bell and Road Initiative, will not be renewed by my government. That is the case," Mulino said according to a translation of his remarks. "We are going to study the possibility of whether it can be finished earlier or not, but I think it is due for renewal in one or two years, because it is every three years. So that initiative that was signed when it was signed, at the time it was signed, will not be renewed by my government. I think "that this visit opens a path to build a new stage of relations."
He continued, "That's how I see it, that's how I felt from Secretary Marco Rubio, and at the same time, we're trying as much as possible to increase U.S. investments in Panama. I explained to him a series of infrastructure projects that the government has in its portfolio, in the hope that they'll be aware of them and that when the time comes, the bidding process that will begin very soon will be done, so that they can get involved."
They’re not just refusing to renew their 2017 deal with China; they’re scrambling to cut ties ahead of schedule. China’s influence over the canal is coming to an end.
And here comes in the question whether it is better to be loved rather than feared, or feared rather than loved. It might perhaps be answered that we should wish to be both; but since love and fear can hardly exist together, if we must choose between them, it is far safer to be feared than loved.

I can’t possibly explain the scale at which the Democrats used our taxpayer dollars to enrich their friends (who then donated to them) but let me highlight 3 USAID expenses:
• $520M was spent on ESG consultants
• $1.2B given to "undisclosed recipients"
• $375M in DEI grants
Do you think there’s even one right wing ESG or DEI firm getting contracts? No. All the agencies in government sent billions to their friends at ESG and DEI firms. These people then turn around and donate to the Democrats who help them get their funding or they fund more extreme left wing activist orgs that Dems don’t want to get caught directly funding.
What would you call this except for money laundering? To me it looks like the largest money laundering scheme in history. Now that it’s being investigated and shut down, they’re literally outside of the buildings protesting Trump and
@elonmusk
saving billions for taxpayers.
Also, they WILL find out who the undisclosed recipients are who got $1.2 Billion. 👀🔥

I don’t think people fully appreciate what a big deal it is to shut down USAID.
Democrats used it as their piggybank to enrich rabid activists who paid themselves enormous sums. Then they donated to Democrats. They also used it to fund fake news too.
[Rudaw] Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani on Saturday revealed government plans to add at least 15,000 megawatts to the country’s national grid, reaching “record” production amid an energy crisis.
Go for it, guys. This is what government is supposed to make possible.
“The government has announced plans to add 15,000 to 20,000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid, reaching record production levels to meet energy demand,” Sudani said at the inauguration of the Baghdad International Fair.
Despite its vast oil and gas reserves, Iraq suffers from chronic electricity shortages. In July, the Iraqi electricity ministry spokesperson told Rudaw that the country’s power system produces 27,450 megawatts of electricity, but the required load is 48,000 megawatts.
Sudani has repeatedly described improving the country’s energy sector as one of the main priorities of his cabinet, stating on multiple occasions that Baghdad seeks to achieve self-sufficiency in gas and end the import of the natural resource within the next few years.
“Renewable and clean energy projects, previously linked to discussions and statements, and now being actively implemented,” he told the fair.
For years, Iraq’s electrical grid has depended on gas imports from Iran to run its power plants. The country lost nearly 5,000 megawatts of power in July 2023 due to Iran completely halting the supply of gas to the southern regions of Iraq, as well as decreasing exports to Baghdad and other central provinces.
On Wednesday, the head of the Iraqi parliament’s electricity and energy committee blamed the electricity ministry as partially responsible for the lack of power in the country, saying that work in the electricity sector is “very slow” and power wastage is high.

Weirder still, there’s a chance you could live life with your own mind intact, but have to accept a new kind of body.
Humankind has been searching for an elixir of life for thousands of years, with tales of the hunt for immortality stretching back farther in time than even the first books of the Bible. And it seems like we’ll accept the secret to living forever in whatever flavor we can get it in.
