Africa Horn
[RT] Mass killings reported in conflict-torn African state
[RT] Sudanese paramilitaries have been attacking villages in the El Gezira region since its top commander defected to join the state’s forces, activists claim

At least 124 people have been killed in a massive new wave of attacks in Sudan’s El Gezira state, according to local activists, who have accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing “massacres” against civilians.

The incident is reportedly one of the deadliest to have happened since a brutal civil war broke out in the northeastern African nation between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in mid-April last year.

The Sudan Doctors Network reported on Saturday that dozens of civilians had been injured and hundreds more displaced as a result of deadly assaults on Al-Sariha village by RSF fighters.

The Wad Madani Resistance Committee, a grassroots pro-democracy group, also reported that more than 100 wounded could not be evacuated for treatment due to shelling by militants, who had completely invaded Al-Sariha. The death toll could be higher, the organization said while denouncing the “heinous massacre” as “ethnic cleansing.”

A member of the Resistance Committees told CNN that the militia has detained 150 people, including the elderly. The group shared a video on Facebook showing men in camouflage manhandling an elderly civilian. Another clip shows dozens of local men sitting on the floor, allegedly arrested by the RSF.

Fighting in El Gezira has reportedly escalated since Abu Aqla Muhammad Ahmed Kikil,
…in the Rantburg archives as merely Abuagla Keikal
the RSF commander in the southeastern state, switched sides with several of his troops and joined the national army days ago.

On Sunday, the Wad Madani Resistance Committee reported that more than 50 villages in the region have been under continuous attack for the past six days. The group stated that it is unable to communicate with dozens of other invaded villages due to a curfew imposed by the paramilitary forces, who have seized “all satellite Internet devices.”

Earlier on Friday, the RSF accused the state military of arming civilians in the region and using forces under the command of the defected official Kikil, prompting the attacks, Reuters reported.

According to the UN, Sudan now faces the world’s largest hunger crisis, with tens of thousands of people killed and more than 11 million displaced as a result of the 18-month-old war.

Somalia: Landmine Blast in Mogadishu Kills Three, Wounds Others
[Garowe] landmine explosion in Mogadishu's Karaan district killed three civilians and maimed multiple others on Saturday, local sources told Garowe Online.

The IED blast occurred in the El Ali Gedi area, with the sound reverberating through nearby areas, though the intended target of the attack remains unknown.

Karaan district security personnel investigated the incident but have not detained any suspects. No group has grabbed credit, yet the attack resembles tactics typically used by al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
, a group notorious for similar attacks in Somalia.

Before the incident, Somalia's Internal Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, along with top police and intelligence officials, conducted overnight patrols in Mogadishu to enhance security measures against a backdrop of recurrent violence.

The blast highlights the fragile security situation in Somalia's capital, where civilians are often caught in explosions and gun attacks.

The attack comes hours after the Ottoman Turkish research vessel Oruc Reis arrived at Mogadishu seaport in an attempt to conduct seismic surveys for oil and natural gas off the coast of Somalia.

Turkey arrests over 170 for alleged PKK links
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish security forces on Friday detained over 170 people for alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), two days after an attack on a drone manufacturing facility in the capital Ankara.

"This morning, under the coordination of our General Director of Security... we apprehended 176 PKK-linked suspects in 31 provinces in an early-morning operation," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told journalists in Ankara.

He made the comments after visiting people in hospital with injuries from Wednesday’s attack on a Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI)
…also, for some reason, abbreviated as TUSAS …
facility in Ankara’s northern Kahramankazan district. Five people were killed and 22 others were maimed. Eight people are still in hospital, according to the minister.

The PKK grabbed credit for the attack.

The assault "was carried out by an independent team of the Immortal Battalion. This historic act was carried out with high determination" read a statement from the PKK’s People’s Defense Center (NPG) released on Friday.

The attack came amid a growing expectation that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict, but the PKK statement said the two are unrelated.

"This event, which was planned a long time ago and was successfully implemented, has nothing to do with the political agenda of the last month that is being discussed in Turkey," the PKK said.

The aerospace firm designs and builds civilian and military aircraft, including drones. The PKK said that the "weapons manufactured by TUSAS [TAI] have killed thousands of our civilians in Kurdistan, including women and kiddies."

In response to the attack, Turkey launched strikes on alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region and Syria late on Wednesday, hitting 32 targets.

Twelve civilians have been killed as of Thursday, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Strikes have continued on Friday morning and there are reports of more casualties.

The PKK said their forces were unharmed.

Four terrorists eliminated in separate KP operations: ISPR
[GEO.TV] Four faceless myrmidons were bumped off by the security forces in two separate operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Inter-Serivces Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the military's media wing, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in North Wazoo District where, ''after an intense exchange of fire, two khwarij including Kharji Insaf Ullah, were [killed].''

In another operation in Khyber District, the ISPR said, ''own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and resultantly two khwarij were killed, while three got injured.''

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed terrorists, who according to the military's media wing remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) as well as the innocent civilians.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other faceless myrmidons found in the area as ''security forces of Pakistain are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.''

A day earlier, at least six people including four cops were martyred and several others were maimed in a "suicide kaboom" in North Waziristan.

The law enforcers said that the attack targeted a police post in the Eidak area of Mir Ali. Four of the slain individuals were police personnel, they added.

The injured were shifted to hospital after a rescue operation was launched. The area was cordoned off by the security forces

Three killed in suspected Turkish strike on Shingal: Peshmerga
[Rudaw] At least three people were killed and one was injured in Shingal on Friday as a result of suspected Ottoman Turkish Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, according to a Peshmerga commander.

"Three people belonging to the YBS [Shingal Resistance® Units] have been martyred" in an attack on their base near Shingal city center, Haider Shasho, Ezidikhan Protection Forces commander, told Rudaw.

The Ezidikhan Protection Forces are a Yazidi division within the Peshmerga ministry.

"A civilian woman was injured in the attack," Shasho said.

"The bombardments continued every half hour until 3:00 in the morning today," he added.

YBS has remained in control of parts of Shingal since the defeat of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS). The numerous gangs in the area have been identified as one of the sources of continued insecurity that has prevented the return of thousands of Shingal’s residents who fled ISIS in 2014. Baghdad and Erbil signed an agreement in 2020 to normalize the situation in Shingal, but the deal has yet to be implemented.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
considers the YBS an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and has targeted its positions in Shingal numerous times, killing dozens of its members, including top commanders.

This most recent strike was part of a wave of Ottoman Turkish attacks across northeast Syria (Rojava) and northern Iraq following a deadly assault by the PKK on an aerospace firm in Ankara.
PKK claimed Wednesday’s murderous attack on TUSAS, so they can’t be surprised at Turkey’s violent response.
The Ottoman Turkish interior ministry stated that 32 "targets belonging to terrorists" were "neutralized" as a result of their campaign.

In Rojava, 12 civilians have been killed as of Thursday, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Strikes continued on Friday morning and there are reports of more casualties.

A suspected Ottoman Turkish drone also flew around Makhmour camp on Thursday night, but did not conduct any strikes, according to an informed source who spoke to Rudaw on condition of anonymity.

Makhmour camp hosts around 10,000 Kurdish refugees from southeast Turkey, many of whom were displaced by the conflict between Turkey and the PKK. In September, two suspected Ottoman Turkish airstrikes hit the camp in the span of one week, killing two people and injuring four others.

The attack on the aerospace firm came amid a growing expectation that Turkey may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict, but in its statement claiming responsibility the PKK said the two are unrelated.

(ISIS) hideout in Salahaddin province.

Intelligence forces identified an ISIS hideout in the Palakana area of eastern Salahaddin, the Security Media Cell said in a statement.

"After cross-checking and analyzing information... our brave air force, using F-16 jets, carried out a precise and successful airstrike at 17:50 on Friday. The strike turned the hideout into rubble over the terrorists, killing them," read the statement.

The hideout "contained weapons, ammunition, explosives, and various logistical and technical supplies," it added.

Earlier this week, Iraqi forces conducted a joint operation with the global coalition in the Hamrin Mountains, killing nine senior ISIS officials, including the jihadists’ top leader in Iraq. Two US soldiers were maimed in the operation.

Palestinian driver attempts to ram, stab soldiers in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] In the West Bank on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said a Palestinian motorist who tried to carry out a ramming and stabbing attack against IDF troops near the West Bank town of Hizma was shot dead.

According to the IDF, the assailant accelerated his car toward troops of the Binyamin Regional Brigade’s 43rd Battalion, as they were operating near Hizma.

“The terrorist drew a knife… and tried to carry out a stabbing attack,” the IDF said, adding that the soldiers opened fire at the assailant, killing him.

Hebrew media named the perpetrator as Amudi Sami, an East Jerusalem resident of the Shuafat refugee camp.

There were no other injuries in the incident.

Strip.

Assiduously coordinated operations commenced on Sunday morning with rocket barrages and attack drones aimed at the Bar Lev Industrial Zone east of Acre and the Zvolon Military Industries north of Haifa. Simultaneously, the Islamic Resistance®'s air defense units engaged Israeli warplanes over the western sector with surface-to-air missiles, successfully driving them from Lebanese airspace. They also targeted a Hermes 900 drone in western Bekaa, forcing it to retreat.

The initial statement indicated that at 7:40 AM on Sunday, Hezbollah's Islamic Resistance® fighters conducted an aerial attack using a squadron of attack drones targeting the Yodfat Military Industries Company located in the Bar Lev industrial zone, southeast of Acre (occupied Akka).

The second statement issued on Sunday said that at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted an Israeli infantry unit in the town of Houla with a guided missile, resulting in multiple casualties, including both deaths and injuries.

Hezbollah's third statement stated that the group's fighters targeted a gathering of 'Israeli' enemy soldiers in northern eastern al-Manara settlement with an assault glider at 11:00 am on Sunday, achieving a direct hit, leaving them either killed or maimed.

Simultaneously at 11:00 am, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted a gathering of 'Israeli' enemy soldiers at the northern entrance of the al-Marj site with an assault glider, accurately hitting their targets and leaving them either dead or maimed.

According to the fifth statement, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted at 12:10 pm a gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers at Fatima Gate with a rocket barrage, resulting in confirmed injuries.

Thirty-five minutes later, at 12:45 pm, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted the Zvolon military industries base north of Haifa city with a large rocket barrage.
The Times of Israel reports:
The Iran-backed terror group continued its cross-border attacks on northern Israel on Sunday, injuring at least five people in drone and rocket strikes by the early afternoon.

Three people were maimed in the northern Arab town of Tamra, including one woman at death's door, when Hezbollah fired some 75 rockets at the Galilee from Lebanon, according to the IDF.

Air defenses intercepted several rockets, the army added, and impacts were also identified.

The victims, including a 57-year-old woman hit by shrapnel at death's door, and a 21-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl who were lightly hurt by smoke inhalation, were evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa for medical treatment, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

Earlier in the day, two people were maimed in a drone attack on the Bar Lev industrial zone between Acre and Karmiel. The IDF confirmed that a drone launched from Lebanon struck the industrial zone. Further details were being investigated, as sirens had sounded in the Western Galilee warning of an incoming drone but not in the industrial zone itself. Magen David Adom said medics were treating a 61-year-old man in moderate condition and a 31-year-old man who was lightly hurt by the drone impact.

Footage from the scene showed damage to a factory belonging to the BAZ aviation components firm. The factory manufactures aerospace metal components for both civilian and military clients, according to the company’s LinkedIn page.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the IDF intercepted two drones that crossed from Lebanon into Israel. No injuries were reported. Sirens warning of a suspected drone infiltration sounded in the coastal city of Nahariya and several towns near the Lebanon border amid the incident.

A short while later, the IDF said it had successfully intercepted a drone making its way "from the east," using terminology usually reserved for UAVs launched from Iraq by Iran-backed militias. That drone did not cross into Israeli territory, the military said.

IDF says around 90 Hezbollah rockets fired at Israel from Lebanon today
[IsraelTimes] Some 90 rockets were launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon at northern Israel today, according to an IDF tally.

One of the rocket attacks left three wounded in Tamra. A separate drone attack wounded two in an industrial zone in the Galilee.

Two more journalists killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza
[GEO.TV] According to Gaza officials, two more journalists have been killed by Israeli attacks, raising the total number of journalists killed since the conflict began to 182.
"Journolists"
Gaza's media office identified the deceased journalists as Nadia Imad Al-Sayed and Abdul Rahman Samir al-Tanani.

Israel has faced international scrutiny over its attacks on journalists in both Gaza and Lebanon, as well as for restricting media access to the occupied West Bank.
Are these journalists also on the Hamas payroll, as so many Gazans killed, maimed, or arrested by the IDF have turned out to be?

"Asmaa School has been targeted by Israeli warplanes. A large number of injured people have been transported to al-Ahli Hospital, but many remain trapped," said Paleostinian medic Hussein al-Halabi. The school had been sheltering displaced residents from Jabalia and western Gaza City.

The siege, now entering its fourth week, has seen a mounting corpse count. Medical sources report that over 1,000 Paleostinians have bit the dust since the siege began, according to Al Jazeera.

The view from Israel:
IDF soldier dies of wounds sustained in north Gaza, raising ground op toll to 362
Also more on this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday a soldier died from wounds sustained during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip earlier this month, raising the death toll of the ground operation to 362. Staff Sgt. Malachi Yehuda Harari, 22, of the Givati Brigade’s Rotem Battalion, from Even Shmuel, was injured during the fighting on October 18.

The military also announced that troops killed some 40 terror operatives during operations in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya over the past day. Several sites belonging to Hamas were destroyed and weapons were seized in the area. The IDF has been conducting a renewed ground offensive in the Jabaliya area over the past several weeks and estimates that some 45,000 Palestinian civilians have evacuated the area. Hundreds of suspected terror operatives have been detained, and hundreds of gunmen have been killed, according to the military.

Meanwhile, in the Netzarim Corridor area of central Gaza, the IDF said troops killed a cell of gunmen in an exchange of fire on Sunday morning.

On Saturday, Israeli forces reportedly withdrew from the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, a day after the IDF said it was operating at the medical center amid “intelligence information on terrorists and terror infrastructure in the area.” An IDF spokesperson declined to comment on the hospital report.

Medics from the Hamas-run health ministry said at least 44 of the facility’s 70-member team at the medical facility had been detained by Israeli forces. They said 14 were later released, including the hospital’s director. The medics also said that at least two children had died inside the intensive care unit after Israeli fire hit the generators and oxygen station in the facility on Friday.

In the weeks before the operation, the IDF said it had enabled the evacuation of patients and staff from the hospital, while also ensuring that the medical center’s emergency systems continued to function. Some medical staffers refused the army’s orders to evacuate the hospital or leave their patients unattended. Before the raid, medics said, at least 600 people remained in the hospital, including patients and their escorts.

“The safety and lives of patients who are left inside Kamal Adwan Hospital without medical staff and much-needed medication are at risk now,” said Marwan Al-Hams of the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.

Kamal Adwan is the last functioning hospital in Gaza’s north. The facility said it has been struggling with shortages since the start of the war, which has been increasingly aggravated by the launch of a new Israeli operation in northern Gaza earlier this month.

COGAT — the Israeli Defense Ministry body that manages civilian affairs in the Palestinian territories — said Friday it had allowed the transfer of 23 patients out of the hospital the previous night by Palestinian ambulances and UN vehicles. COGAT also said it allowed the transfer of one fuel truck, “180 blood units and a truckload of medical equipment” donated by UN agencies to the hospital.

On Saturday, the IDF announced the expansion of the designated “humanitarian zone” in southern Gaza, where the vast majority of the Palestinian population in the Strip currently resides. The zone is where most humanitarian aid is directed, and where several field hospitals have been established. The size of the zone has changed repeatedly amid evolving IDF operations against Hamas. Some 1.9 million Palestinians of the 2.3 million Gazan population are residing in the area, according to IDF assessments from July.

“The expanded Humanitarian Area includes field hospitals that have been established since the start of the war, tent compounds, and shelter equipment, as well as food, water, medicine, and medical equipment that has entered Gaza through coordination between COGAT and the international community,” the IDF said in a statement.

“The IDF will continue to operate to achieve the war objectives, including dismantling Hamas and bringing home all the hostages,” it added.

It is believed that 97 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 — when terrorists streamed across the border into Israel and slaughtered some 1,200 people, sparking the current war — remain in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.

Hamas released 105 civilians during a weeklong truce in late November, and four hostages were released before that. Eight hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 37 hostages have also been recovered, including three mistakenly killed by the Israeli military as they tried to escape their captors.

Hamas is also holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said on Sunday that 42,924 people have been killed and 100,833 injured during Israel’s offensive in Gaza over the past year, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

Israel says it has killed some 17,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7. Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.

Glilot terrorist Rami Nasrallah had criminal record, received lenient sentence - report
Link does not exist. Here’s an earlier report from the Jerusalem Post about the attack:
Glilot truck ramming: One dead, over 30 wounded

Some 33 people were wounded to various degrees, with one succumbing to his wounds after a truck rammed into a bus stop near Glilot in central Israel on Sunday, Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom (MDA) reported on Sunday.

The Sourasky Medical Center said one of the wounded in the attack, whose condition had deteriorated, was subsequently pronounced dead by medical staff.

Earlier, MDA said that paramedics treated six seriously wounded and seven moderately wounded individuals.

Some 20 individuals who sustained light wounds and four people who suffered from anxiety were being treated by medics, MDA also stated, adding that the majority of casualties were adults.

MDA said it was transferring the wounded to the Sourasky Medical Center, the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus, the Meir Medical Center, the Laniado Hospital, the Shamir Medical Center, and the Sheba Medical Center.

Civilians who were on-scene had shot at the truck driver and thwarted him, Israel Police reported.
Good for them. This is the other reason why it’s important to have armed citizens on the streets.
Later on Sunday, Israeli media reports identified the truck driver to be Rami Nasrallah Nator, an Israeli-Arab from Qalansawe who was reportedly known to have a criminal history.
Good to know.
Police noted that according to a preliminary examination, a bus had stopped near a bus stop in the area, after which the truck rammed into the bus and the people who were standing at the bus stop.

PARAMEDICS REPORT FROM THE SCENE
United Hatzalah volunteer paramedics Aharon Yaakobson, who was nearby and arrived first at the scene, paramedics Yaron Schiff, Eliyah Tubul, and Yair Porush reported, "It was a difficult scene with a truck, a bus, and pedestrians. We provided initial treatment at the scene to over 20 people (at this stage) who sustained varying degrees of injuries.

"Some of them were rescued by fire crews in serious condition after being trapped under the truck. Members of United Hatzalah's Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit also provided assistance at the scene to several people who suffered from emotional shock."

Emergency services are currently seeking blood donations to help treat the wounded, according to Channel 12.

An information center for families to locate victims will be opened in the Sourasky Medical Center, which can be contacted by dialing 1255133.

Police stated that large forces were being deployed to the area and asked that drivers divert their routes from the area.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir attended the scene of the attack, according to Israeli media, and was quoted as saying, "This incident is investigated as a terror attack, and that is how it should be investigated. I give full support to the police, to the citizens who neutralized that person who is a terrorist."
The Times of Israel adds:
Hebrew media outlets named the perpetrator Rami Nasrallah, an Arab Israeli driver from Qalansawe in central Israel. His body was sent to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for an autopsy to check if he suffered a medical condition that caused the accident, the reports said.

Many of the injured were senior citizens who had disembarked from the bus ahead of a day trip to a nearby museum to mark the national memorial day for those killed in the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre and subsequent war.

Hamas put out a statement a short while after the incident, praising the “heroic ramming attack” that was carried out near “Mossad headquarters.”

The Glilot area near Herzliya is home to the Mossad headquarters, along with several IDF intelligence units, including the high-profile signals intelligence Unit 8200.

Without taking responsibility for the apparent attack, the terror group said that it was “a natural response to the crimes of the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, and its ongoing brutal massacres, especially in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Police were probing further details, including the motive of the attack.

The owner of the truck company where the driver worked told the Kan public broadcaster that he deviated from his set route and drove towards the area where the attack took place: “He shouldn’t have been there.”

But Nasrallah’s brother Muhammad told the Ynet news site that he believed the attack was “not terrorism,” claiming his brother suffered from an unspecified illness, and that the family was not linked “to these things.”
Mental illness? Long Covid? Curious minds want to know.
Islam
“This was a regular accident. He never did anything bad to anyone in his life,” he said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Five IDF reservists killed, 14 wounded in battle with Hezbollah in south Lebanon, 21 Lebanese airstruck
[IsraelTimes] Military investigating exchange of fire that also left 3 terror operatives dead; at least 5 hurt in drone, rocket strikes; IAF hits Hezbollah weapons sites in Beirut overnight

The Israel Defense Forces on Sunday announced that five Israeli reserve soldiers were killed and 14 maimed in a battle with Hezbollah operatives in a southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
village on Saturday evening.

Bringing IDF’s toll in the ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and during operations to 34, the slain troops were named as:

  • Cpt. (res.) Rabbi Avraham Yosef Goldberg, 43, from Jerusalem

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Gilad Elmaliach, 30, from Jerusalem.

  • Cpt. (res.) Amit Chayut, 29, from Haifa.

  • Maj. (res.) Eliav Amram Abitbol, 36, from Eitan.

  • Sgt. Maj. (res.) Shaul Moyal, 47, from Karnei Shomron

The troops all served with the Alon Brigade’s 8207th Battalion. Goldberg was the battalion’s rabbi, Chayut was a platoon commander, and Abitbol was a deputy company commander. Among the 14 maimed soldiers, five were listed at death's door.

Three Hezbollah operatives were killed in the exchange of fire.

Further details of the battle were still under investigation, as the IDF pressed its campaign to push Hezbollah forces away from the border, in order to make it safe for tens of thousands of Israelis displaced from northern communities to return to their homes.

Also Sunday, the IDF released footage of a Hezbollah weapons bunker located by troops of the Golani Brigade in southern Lebanon. The military said the underground facility, hidden in a forested area, was used to store anti-tank missiles, machine guns, assault rifles, and mortars. The footage was released as the IDF said that fighter jets targeted several Hezbollah weapon manufacturing and maintenance sites in Beirut overnight, along with an arms depot.

The IDF issued evacuation orders for three buildings in two neighborhoods in the southern suburb of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh, ahead of the strikes. Lebanese state media reported an Israeli raid in Dahiyeh’s Burj al-Barajneh and Hadath neighborhoods shortly after the warnings were published.

Elsewhere in Lebanon, the military said on Sunday morning that the Israeli Air Force had killed some 70 Hezbollah operatives and hit around 120 sites belonging to the terror group over the past day in Lebanon. Among the targets was a site used by Hezbollah’s drone unit, and a cell of operatives from the unit, the IDF added.

The military also announced on Sunday that it killed the commander of Hezbollah’s Bint Jbeil region and his replacement within 24 hours. On Friday, the Hezbollah commander in charge of the Lebanese border village of Bint Jbeil, Ahmad Jaafar Matouq, was killed in a strike carried out by fighter jets, according to the IDF. A day later, the IDF says Matouq’s replacement, along with the commander of Hezbollah’s artillery forces in the area, were killed in a separate Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
The strikes came after Hezbollah fired some 200 rockets and launched four drones at northern Israel on Saturday. The hostile aircraft triggered air raid sirens in the Upper and Western Galilee as well as the northern border cities and towns of Kiryat Shmona, Metula and Tel Hai, but no injuries were reported as the IDF intercepted all four drones.

In a statement, Hezbollah claimed it launched a drone attack against the Tel Nof air force base, south of Tel Aviv.

In one of the rocket barrages, 15 rockets were launched from Lebanon at the Western Galilee, with some intercepted while the rest hit open areas, the IDF said. There were no reports of injuries from the rocket fire, which sparked blazes at several locations in the north.

Death toll from Israeli strike on Lebanon's Sidon rises to five
[GEO.TV] At least five people were killed and 13 wounded on Sunday in an Israeli strike on Sidon (Saida) in southern Lebanon, the country's health ministry said in an updated toll.

Rojava says 250,000 people without electricity after 685 Turkish strikes
Punishment for the PKK attack on TUSAS.
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish strikes on vital infrastructure in northeast Syria (Rojava) this week have left hundreds of thousands of people without water or electricity, the local administration said on Friday.

"In the areas of Kobani, Tirbespi, and Amuda, the attacks destroyed the electricity sector, leaving more than 250,000 families without power... In al-Darbasiyah, with a population of over 50,000, residents suffer from water shortages and livelihood challenges due to the aggression," read a statement from the department of foreign relations of the Kurdish-led Democratic Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (DAANES).

Ottoman Turkish strikes also targeted the Shahba and Afrin region in northwest Syria, coupled with ground attacks by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
-backed militia groups, the statement added. Oil facilities and refineries have also been attacked.

The DAANES statement labeled the Ottoman Turkish attacks "genocide" and criticized the international community for not speaking out.

Kurdish security forces (Asayish) in Rojava said on Friday that over the past few days, Ankara attacked 685 times with drones, warplanes, and artillery, killing 17 people - three soldiers, and 14 civilians.
"We condemn the international silence, which stands as a disgrace as we strive for stability and democratic solutions within the unity of Syria and its people," the statement read.

Locations in northern Iraq have also been hit.

The strikes were in retaliation for Wednesday’s attack on Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) facilities in northern Ankara that killed five people and injured 22 others. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) grabbed credit for the attack.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry said that in its strikes, 32 "targets belonging to murderous Moslems were neutralized" and that measures were undertaken to ensure civilians and the environment were not harmed. Turkey uses the term "neutralized" to denote adversaries captured, maimed, or killed.

Kurdish security forces (Asayish) in Rojava said on Friday that over the past few days, Ankara attacked 685 times with drones, warplanes, and artillery, killing 17 people - three soldiers, and 14 civilians. Another 48 people have been injured, including 39 civilians.

Turkey alleges that gangs in Rojava are a front for the PKK and have carried out several cross-border air and ground operations.

This surge of attacks came as there is growing expectation that Turkey may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict.

On Tuesday, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli proposed allowing the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been imprisoned since 1999, to address the Ottoman Turkish parliament and declare that the PKK has been dissolved.

Bahceli, whose ultranationalist party is an ally of Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), said that Ocalan should benefit from the "right to hope" principle that provides for the possibility of conditional release for prisoners, taking their behavior into account.

On Friday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey would continue to fight terrorism.

"Terrorists are puppets. Our goal is a Turkey without terrorism... We will not compromise on this," he told news hounds on board his flight returning from the BRICS summit in Russia, Anadolu Agency reported.
