One of the items I'm teaching the kids how to make, so when they are off on their own and when money gets tight, they at least know how to each out of money food correctly. Cavender's Greek Seasoning for this, if I may suggest.
Restaurant nearby makes their own bologna, then puts it in the smoker. Dude.
[Epoch Times] Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti says newly obtained documents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reveal that the agency abandoned plans to release detained migrants, including those with criminal convictions, into the state after pushback from lawmakers and litigation filed by the state.
The 384 pages of documents, released by the state on Wednesday, show that ICE was in the planning stages of releasing detainees from its Louisiana facilities into Tennessee.
Among the detainees were more than 30 individuals with serious criminal convictions, including crimes ranging from homicide and sexual assault to armed robbery and drug trafficking, according to the press release and documents reviewed by The Epoch Times. Maybe there were other criminals included?
Although the release plan was not followed through, the AG said in an Oct. 23 statement that the records show that over 7,000 detainees—including individuals with violent criminal records—were released directly from nearby Louisiana facilities during that time. After they were checked for disease and given the COVID shot, right?
"The federal government’s single most important job is to keep dangerous people out of our country, and instead, it has let killers and rapists illegally cross our border and walk free on our streets," Skrmetti said in a press release. "While the urgent work to fix our broken immigration system continues in Washington, my Office will keep fighting for transparency and accountability."
According to the documents, ICE had coordinated with local immigration rights groups and officials in Nashville to arrange the release of these detained migrants. Coordinated with local school boards, local governments, and employers, did they?
Specifically, ICE was working with the Tennessee Immigration and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), an immigration advocacy group, to assist with hotel accommodations and onward movement of immigrants.
TIRRC, at the time, responded to reports in a social media post that the Department of Homeland Security had listened to "what local organizations and communities have been demanding."
"DHS took steps to provide more transparency and better coordination to get folks home for the holidays," the organization wrote on Twitter at the time. "We cannot allow for disinformation, fear, and partisanship to dictate how we treat other human beings. Shame on Gov. Bill Lee’s office for not showing Tennessee’s values of family, integrity, and welcoming others." "Home for the holidays"? How thoughtful!
The organization said it, along with other Tennesseans, local organization, and faith communities, was "ready to rise to the opportunity by leading with values and welcoming with dignity" at the time. Why, bless their hearts! Are they paying, too? Providing English lessons to all?

Thousands of construction workers die every year in Saudi Arabia and neighbours— it has to do with working outside all day long in the summer heat and not getting water breaks. The Magic Kingdom considers them disposable instead of as real people with rights.
[FoxNews] 700,000 internally displaced in Haiti in a stark 22% increase in just three months.
The security situation in Haiti has once again degraded despite months of support from United Nations-approved Kenyan-led forces sent in to aid the Haitian police as gang violence escalates.
In a Tuesday address to the Security Council, María Isabel Salvador, special representative of the secretary-general and head of the U.N. Integrated Office in Haiti, told the 15-member body that despite efforts to restore calm to the nation, more than 700,000 Haitians are now internally displaced, and the Multinational Security Support Mission remains under resourced.
"The security situation remains extremely fragile, with renewed peaks of acute violence," Salvador told the U.N. body, adding that since her last briefing in July, "the situation in Haiti has regrettably worsened."
In the last three months, the number of internally displaced people has jumped by 22%, Salvador said.
The U.N. official noted that this increase coincided with the June deployment of Kenyan forces in an attempt to aid Haitian police, which have also since been joined by forces from the Bahamas, Belize and Jamaica.
But despite eventual plans to deploy some 3,000 security officials to counter the gangs, only 430 personnel are currently deployed.
"It is far from enough", Salvador said.
Gang violence, once primarily concentrated in Haiti’s capital city, has now expanded under an alliance of well-armed gangs known as Viv Ansanm beyond the parameters of Port-au-Prince, with "murders, kidnappings and sexual violence of unprecedented brutality" being reported across the country.
Salvador told the Security Council that the Support Mission remains desperately under-resourced, which not only impacts its ability to carry out its coordinated work with the Haitian National Police, but could also impact future deployments.
The U.N. official urged the body to increase their support for the Haitian security apparatus and to better fund the Support Mission.
Funding has lagged and several U.N. representatives pointed to the persistence of arms smuggling schemes, frequently through Florida, that continue to aid the violent gang activity.
Political ineptitude and corruption remain major concerns as the nation looks to propel its new government, formed in June but which is losing public trust as divisions mount between the dual executive, headed by the prime minister and presidential council.
Alongside the extreme violence, an estimated 5 million people in Haiti are estimated to be going hungry, while thousands are facing famine.
We’re going to significantly reduce the number of immigrants coming to Canada for the next two years. This is temporary — to pause our population growth and let our economy catch up.
We have to get the system working right for all Canadians.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday that he will lead his Liberal Party into the next election, dismissing a request by some party members to not run for a fourth term.
Trudeau met with his Liberal members of Parliament for three hours Wednesday, where he learned that more than 20 lawmakers from his party signed a letter asking him to step down before the next election.
Trudeau said there were “robust conversations” ongoing about the best way forward, but "that will happen as me as leader going into the next election.”
No Canadian prime minister in more than a century has won four straight terms.
Trudeau's Cabinet ministers have said he has the support of the vast majority of the 153 Liberal Party members of the House of Commons.
[Politico] Rogan has more than 14 million followers on Spotify.
Former President Donald Trump is expected to record an interview with podcasting behemoth Joe Rogan on Friday.
The interview will take place at Rogan’s studio in Austin, Texas, according to a person familiar with the plans who was granted anonymity to discuss the matter.
Rogan has long occupied the top positions in national podcast ratings, and Trump’s appearance on his show continues the campaign’s push to win young male voters. In recent weeks, Trump has appeared on such male-friendly podcasts as “This Week w/ Theo Vaughn” and “Full Send,” a show hosted by the pro-Trump Nelk Boys.
Trump has never appeared on Rogan’s podcast and the two have had a complicated relationship. In August, Trump called out Rogan after the podcaster claimed that politicians on both sides are manipulative except for Robert Kennedy Jr., who at the time was running for president.
"It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024" Trump posted of Rogan, who is a UFC commentator.
Rogan himself has been critical of Trump in the past. In July 2022, he called the former president an “existential threat to democracy.” Yet Rogan has more recently been complimentary of Trump, saying last month that the economy under Trump “did really well and he really did try to cut some of the bullshit down that's going on in this country."
Trump and Rogan have also had friendly moments in recent months, such as when they have greeted each other at UFC events. The two also have mutual allies — a group that includes RFK, who endorsed Trump after dropping his presidential bid, and tech billionaire Elon Musk.
Vice President Kamala Harris has also reportedly been in talks to go on Rogan’s podcast. A Harris spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on her plans.
[AyPee] Russian President Vladimir Putin closed a summit of the BRICS bloc of developing economies on Thursday, praising its role as a counterbalance to what he called the West’s “perverse methods.”
The three-day summit in the city of Kazan was attended by leaders or representatives of 36 countries, highlighting the failure of United States-led efforts to isolate Russia over its actions in Ukraine.
The conflict came up repeatedly at the meeting, which saw the first visit to Russia from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in more than two years and drew an angry reaction from Kyiv. Guterres called for “a just peace” in Ukraine, in line with the U.N. Charter, international law and General Assembly resolutions. He also urged an immediate end to the fighting in Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan.
At a news conference Thursday night, Putin was asked about former U.S. President Donald Trump’s promise to end the fighting in Ukraine.
“What Mr. Trump said recently, what I heard, (is) he spoke about the desire to do everything to end the conflict in Ukraine,” Putin said. “It seems to me that he said it sincerely. We certainly welcome statements of this kind, no matter who makes them.”
Putin hosts a summit to show the West it can’t keep Russia off the global stage
Putin also was asked about whether any North Korean troops were in Russia, which he neither confirmed nor denied. The U.S. said Wednesday that 3,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to Russia and are training at several locations.
“Images are a serious thing, if there are images, then they reflect something,” he said when asked about satellite photos of troops.
Putin noted that lawmakers in Moscow earlier in the day ratified a pact with North Korea on mutual military assistance as part of a “strategic partnership” with Pyongyang.
“We have never doubted that the North Korean leadership takes our agreements seriously. What and how we will do within the framework of this article (of the agreement) is our business,” he said.
The summit covered the deepening of financial cooperation, including the development of alternatives to Western-dominated payment systems, efforts to settle regional conflicts and expansion of the BRICS group of nations.
The alliance that initially included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa when it was founded in 2009 has expanded to embrace Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Turkey, Azerbaijan and Malaysia have formally applied to become members, and several other countries have expressed interest in joining.
The Kremlin touted the summit as “the largest foreign policy event ever held” by Russia.
Speaking at what was dubbed the “BRICS Plus” session, which included countries that are considering joining the bloc, Putin accused the West of trying to stem the growing power of the Global South with “illegal unilateral sanctions, blatant protectionism, manipulation of currency and stock markets, and relentless foreign influence ostensibly promoting democracy, human rights, and the climate change agenda.”
“Such perverse methods and approaches — to put it bluntly — lead to the emergence of new conflicts and the aggravation of old disagreements,” Putin said. “One example of this is Ukraine, which is being used to create critical threats to Russia’s security, while ignoring our vital interests, our just concerns, and the infringement of the rights of Russian-speaking people.”
Russia has specifically pushed for the creation of a new payment system that would offer an alternative to the global bank messaging network SWIFT and allow Moscow to dodge Western sanctions and trade with partners.
In a joint declaration Wednesday, participants voiced concern about “the disruptive effect of unlawful unilateral coercive measures, including illegal sanctions” and reiterated their commitment to enhancing financial cooperation within BRICS. They noted the benefits of “faster, low-cost, more efficient, transparent, safe and inclusive cross-border payment instruments built upon the principle of minimizing trade barriers and non-discriminatory access.”
China’s President Xi Jinping has emphasized the bloc’s role in ensuring global security. Xi noted that China and Brazil have put forward a peace plan for Ukraine and sought to rally broader international support for it. Ukraine has rejected the proposal.
“We should promote the de-escalation of the situation as soon as possible and pave the way for a political settlement,” Xi said.
Putin and Xi had announced a “no-limits” partnership weeks before Russia sent troops into Ukraine in 2022. They already met twice earlier this year, in Beijing in May and at a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kazakhstan in July.
Russia’s cooperation with India also has flourished as New Delhi sees Moscow as a time-tested partner since the Cold War despite Russia’s close ties with India’s rival, China. While Western allies want New Delhi to be more active in persuading Moscow to end the fighting in Ukraine, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has avoided condemning Russia while emphasizing a peaceful settlement.
Addressing the BRICS Plus session, Guterres urged an immediate end to the fighting in Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine and Sudan. “We need peace in Ukraine, a just peace in line with the U.N. Charter, international law and General Assembly resolutions,” he said.
Russia’s Kremlin-controlled media touted the summit as a massive policy coup that left the West fearing the loss of its global clout. State TV shows and news bulletins underscored that BRICS countries account for about half the world’s population comprising the “global majority” and challenging Western “hegemony.”
TV hosts elaborately quoted Western media reports saying that the summit highlighted the failure to isolate Moscow. “The West, the U.S., Washington, Brussels, London ended up isolating themselves,” said Yevgeny Popov, host of a popular political talk show on state channel Rossiya 1.u

The west is in the slow process of atrophy. Join with Brics and grow with trade, stronger economies and jobs. Find a way to engage with Brics. Otherwise isolation and decline will follow. 1700's the great power failed for Spain. That is the nature of the inevitable decline will follow for the west.

Article cleaned up and moved to the International section onPage 3: Non-War on Terror. It could have been on Page 5: Russia, etc, but this late in the day I thought it would confuse the issue.
I also added the first article I found when searching to find out what Dale’s photo is about. :-)
[Epoch Times] A groundbreaking study led by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) revealed a potentially massive lithium reserve beneath southwestern Arkansas, which researchers say far exceeds the current worldwide demand.
According to the study published in Science Advances, researchers estimate between 5 and 19 million tons of lithium reserves are present in the region. If commercially recoverable, the supply could potentially meet the projected 2030 world demand for lithium in car batteries nine times over, according to a press release Monday by the U.S. agency.
The research, which combined efforts between the USGS and the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment’s Office of the State Geologist, employed a methodology using water testing and machine learning to estimate how much lithium is present in brines within what’s known as the Smackover Formation.
Researchers utilized machine learning—a form of artificial intelligence—to create predictive maps of lithium concentrations throughout the Smackover Formation. Samples from Arkansas were analyzed at the USGS Brine Research Instrumentation and Experimental lab in Reston, Virginia, and compared with historical data from the USGS Produced Waters Database, according to the press release.

[Regnum] A flare of the highest X class was registered on the Sun for the first time since October 9, the press service of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG) reports.
“On October 24 at 06:57 Moscow time, an X3.3 flare lasting 44 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 3869 (S16E76),” the report says.
After the flare, according to IPG monitoring, the level of influence of solar X-ray bursts on the Earth's ionosphere reached the R3 level - "strong". The highest level on this scale is R5, "extreme".
The flare was observed on the eastern edge of the Sun, and at 06:57 Moscow time it reached its maximum power, the press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences clarified.
"Based on measurements of X-ray fluxes, the event's magnitude is X3.3. This is the 11th most powerful event since the beginning of the 25th cycle, that is, since about 2018," the report says.
Experts noted that the explosion indicates the return from the far side of the Sun of the sunspot group 3842, which last time, passing across the disk, caused the largest flare of the current cycle at the X9.0 level. This occurred on October 3.
The large mass ejection that accompanied the flare will not affect Earth. The center of the flare will move into the zone of influence on the planet next weekend. By that time, it will be possible to assess the risks associated with the event, the scientists explained.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on October 9, a powerful X1.9 flare was recorded on the Sun, after which a G4 magnetic storm was observed on Earth.
