[IsraelTimes] Jaime Tran, who pleaded guilty in June to two counts of hate crimes with intent to kill, acquired guns through intermediary after he was prohibited from buying them himself
A man who attempted to murder two Jews leaving synagogue in Los Angeles on consecutive days last year has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Jaime Tran, 30, a former California resident and dental student, pleaded guilty in June to two counts of hate crimes with intent to kill and two counts of “using, carrying and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence,” a statement from the Justice Department said.
He dropped out of dental school — or was expelled, it’s not clear — due to mental health issues that drove him to latch on to increasingly virulent Jew-hate as an explanation for Covid and beyond, until he ended up trying to kill two of them.
According to law enforcement, In February 2023, Tran drove to Pico-Robertson, a heavily Jewish neighborhood in LA, in search of Jewish victims, and shot a man who was leaving a synagogue and wearing a kippah. The next morning, Tran shot another man wearing a kippah and leaving a different synagogue nearby.
Both victims were injured in the attacks and survived. Tran was arrested two days later.
According to the indictment, Tran had a long history of making violent antisemitic comments and threats. In the months leading up to his attacks, Tran repeatedly called and texted a former classmate, sending messages including “Someone is going to kill you, Jew. Someone is going to kill you, Jew. Someone is going to kill you, Jew. Someone is going to kill you, Jew,” and “Burn in an oven chamber you bitch Jew.”
As of 2023, Tran was prohibited from buying firearms due to previous mental health holds, according to a statement from the Justice Department. But the statement said that around mid-February 2023, he acquired at least two guns using an intermediary, and then “used the internet to research locations with a ‘kosher market.’”
[VANGUARDNGR] President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday said that Nigerian security forces have eliminated more than 300 commanders of the Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... terrorist group in the last year.
Also eliminated are many commanders of other banditry groups, especially in the North-West and North-East.
Tinubu gave the security update in his National Broadcast to mark the nation's 64th Independence Anniversary.
''I am happy to announce to you, my compatriots, that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.
''Our target is to eliminate all the threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and the scourge of all forms of violent mostly peaceful extremism.
''Within one year, our government has eliminated Boko Haram and bandit commanders faster than ever.
''As of the last count, over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by our gallant troops in the Northeast, Northwest, and some other parts of the country.
''We have restored peace to hundreds of communities in the North, and thousands of our people have been able to return home.
''It is an unfinished business which our security agencies are committed to ending as quickly as possible.
''As soon as we can restore peace to many communities in the troubled parts of the North, our farmers can return to their farms.
''We expect to see a leap in food production and a downward spiral in food costs. I promise you, we shall not falter on this,'' he said.
[KhaamaPress] After prolonged negotiations between Germany and the Turkish government, Germany has begun the process of deporting hundreds of Turkish refugees back to their home country.
Foreign media, quoting German officials, reported that more than 13,500 Turkish citizens are required to leave Germany and will be deported to their homeland under a bilateral agreement.
The German federal government, after months of negotiations with the government in Ankara, has started the deportation process for a large number of Turkish citizens back to Turkey.
According to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 200 Turks will be sent back to Turkey initially via several regular flights from different German airports.
Nancy Faeser, Germany’s interior minister, stated that this is another step in limiting illegal immigration to Germany.
It is worth mentioning that this agreement apparently took shape during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Berlin last November. At that time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz publicly requested Erdogan to take back Turkish refugees from Germany.
This deportation process signifies Germany’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal immigration, especially as the country faces increasing challenges with asylum seekers.
The agreement between Germany and Turkey may set a precedent for future negotiations with other countries, as European nations continue to address issues related to immigration and refugee crises.
[GEO.TV] Prominent religious scholar Dr Zakir Naik — who is currently on a nearly month-long visit to Pakistan — praised the love and hospitality of the local people, stating that ''the people of Pakistan are very loving and caring''.
Dr Naik made the remarks during a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He emphasised the Muslim countries to shun their differences and unite in the light of the Holy Quran and Sunnah to confront the challenges being faced by the Muslim Ummah.

X - Israel has now its greatest opportunity in 50 years, to change the face of the Middle East.
The leadership of Iran, which used to be good at chess, made a terrible mistake this evening.
We must act *now* to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, its central energy facilities, and to fatally cripple this terrorist regime.
To strike the head of the octopus of terror, that, in its cowardice, sent its tentacles (Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, etc.) to murder us, while the Ayatollahs sat safely in their palaces in Tehran.
The octopus's tentacles are temporarily paralysed - now comes the head.
We must remove this terrible threat to our children's future.
We can grant the Iranian people an opportunity to rise up and shake off the regime that tyrannizes its women and daughters.
We have the justification. We have the tools.
Now that Hezbollah and Hamas are paralyzed, Iran stands exposed.
Over this last terrible year, Iranian tentacles murdered our families.
Raped our daughters.
Kidnapped our children.
Ransacked our towns.
Burned our fields.
Fired on our ships.
Terrorized children in Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Aza, and Sderot.
Emptied out whole regions of our land.
Humiliated us.
Now is the moment.
A Nation of Lions has united and proven its strength over the last year.
It has yearned for a change, for action, for so very long.
There are times when history knocks at our door, and we must open it.
[IsraelTimes] In apparent warming of ties, kingdom to give funds to cash-strapped Ramallah in four monthly payments, in arrangement struck during Abbas visit to Riyadh.
International aid for the PA has dropped off due to concerns that it is corrupt and ineffective, a view shared by many Palestinians themselves.
The PA has been further squeezed by Israel withholding some tax revenues it collects on its behalf, citing concerns the money would go to Palestinian terrorists and their families. As the war in Gaza continues, Israel has placed restrictions on the movement of West Bank Palestinian laborers into Israel, further denting the PA economy.
The Saudi money won’t be enough to float the PA financially, the Times said, but noted it showed an improvement in ties with Palestinian leaders and increased support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Saudi officials had indicated before the Hamas-led October 7 attack on southern Israel and the war it ignited that direct financial support to Ramallah, which dried up in 2016 amid graft allegations, would resume if the PA greenlights the kingdom’s normalization with Israel and increases efforts to curb corruption.
After the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas, Saudi Arabia largely put on ice US-backed plans for the kingdom to normalize ties with Israel, sources familiar with Riyadh’s thinking said earlier this year. Last month Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman again declared that normalization with Israel would not come without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Such a move is considered a key sticking point with the current right-wing Israeli government, which has repeatedly rejected the possibility of a Palestinian state, especially in the wake of the October 7 attack, saying that doing so would be tantamount to rewarding terrorism.
Europeans, Arab, and Muslim nations have also recently launched a new initiative for a Palestinian state, and to prepare for a future after the war in Gaza ends.

[NYPOST] Israel has vowed vengeance after Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... launched 200 ballistic missiles at the Jewish state Tuesday night — dozens of which penetrated air defenses and struck Tel Aviv and other population centers.
Despite this attack having more impact than the earlier strike in April — a Jewish school was among the places badly damaged — there were very few casualities. Only two Israelis were maimed and the only death was a Paleostinian man in the West Bank who was cruashed by an intercepted missile fuselage. Crushed or squashed or both
"The attack appears to have been defeated and ineffective," President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant.... said following the barrage where two American destroyers helped intercept the missiles. "Make no mistake the United States is fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel."
Sirens began flaring shortly after 7:30 p.m. local time, with 10 million residents called to take shelter from the assault that left missiles and shrapnel hitting Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other major cities.
Enis, a man who lives just 20 minutes north of Tel Aviv, told The Post the earth-shattering kabooms left his entire apartment building shaking as he and others hid in a shelter.
"The blasts were incredibly loud and intense, shaking the walls and windows," he said. "This was the first time I truly felt afraid, and the booms were unlike anything I had experienced before."
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the attack was in direct response to the recent liquidations of Hezbollah founder His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...> , Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... political leader Ismail Haniyeh ...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank... and an Iranian general.
"If the Zionist regime reacts to the operation, it will face heavy attacks," the IRGC warned.
Colin Clarke, a counter-terrorism expert at the New York-based Soufan Group, said the lack of casualties was calculated by Tehran, which needs to look strong following Israel’s invasion of southern Leb ...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... and its crippling attacks on Hezbollah.
"Iran was caught in a Catch-22, where it needed to respond but make sure it wasn’t big enough that Israel would retaliate," he told The Post.

Listening to NPR a moment ago, the newsies were going on about how Israel's vaunted Iron Dome defense totally failed to shoot down all the Iranian incoming. No mention of the fact that Iron Dome is smart enough to ignore missiles that are not going to hit anything other than the ground.
Doesn't seem like the Persians got much bang for the buck.
[Deutschlandfunk] Foreign Minister Baerbock concludes with a view to a future peace order in the Middle East and a participation of German soldiers in a possible protection group for the Gaza Strip is not excluded.
Peace needs international security guarantees, said the Green politician in the magazine "Stern". Terrorism against Israel will no longer emanate from Gaza, and the Palestinians will be able to safely live in their own state. Baerbock strengthened, Germany should contribute to such security guarantees. She also focused on the role of the Allies in Germany after the Second World War. These would have guaranteed the security of the neighboring countries by their presence, that war would never again come from German soil. This laid the foundation stone for people to live in peace for decades.
Her eminence the minister completely forgot that first Germany formally laid down her arms and surrendered. Only once disarmed did the Allies discontinue their conquest and become governors and protectors instead. Overseeing the complete demobilization of the German forces, trials of military and civilian personnel for crimes against humanity, and a complete reordering of the education of the children, all to ensure something like that would never happen again. How much of that is the German soldier up for in Gaza, Madam Minister?

These people make a lot of money selling influence, so when they say to somebody what's what and are told to piss off, their influence - their currency - is threatened.

The idea of injecting an occupation force of Peace-keepers into the sewer/maelstrom that is Gaza is nuts. Someone needs to send this German the American definition of "tar baby"!
Illustration of the Br'er Rabbit and the Tar-Baby. Wikipedia. "Today, the term "tar baby" is interpreted by many as a racial slur, and politicians have gotten in trouble for using it. But in its original context, it was a metaphor for a sticky situation that got worse the more one tangled with it."
Currently there are 11 peacekeeping missions, some dating back to 1949 and 1964, and costing the U.S. $1.1 billion annually, roughly 28% of the annual cost.
"While the number of active missions has hovered around 20 for the past 25 years, the number of deployed personnel has doubled. At the beginning of 1993, the UN deployed roughly 50,000 personnel, compared to 100,000 active peacekeepers in February 2017."
[Reuters] French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noel Barrot again urged Israel on Monday not to undertake any ground invasion of Lebanon, adding France will step up its support for the Lebanese army.
Bless their loving hearts.
"I (...) urge Israel to refrain from any ground incursion and to cease fire. I call on Hezbollah to do the same and to refrain from any action likely to lead to regional destabilisation," Barrot told reporters while visiting Lebanon.
Israel has hit Lebanon with a two-week wave of attacks, eliminating Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and several commanders but also killing around 1,000 Lebanese and forcing 1 million to flee their homes. Hezbollah has pledged to confront any Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon.

On their plus side, maybe they can get a lot of the muslim 'yoots' that cause trouble for them to volunteer for service there.
It's the kind of thing that Macron would do. Express lanes forming now ...
