20:43 Blinken said that he had discussed permission to use long-range missiles with the Ukrainian leadership and would now report on the results of the talks to Biden. The US President and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will discuss this issue on Friday, September 13. Blinken also said that the US would send additional air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming weeks. In addition, the US Secretary of State said that NATO countries have made it clear that Ukraine's membership in the Alliance is inevitable and the country is on track to join.

20:02 The United States is providing Ukraine with over $700 million to overcome the consequences of Russian aggression, Blinken said. Of this amount, $325 million is allocated for repairing power grids, $290 million for humanitarian aid, and $102 million for demining.

19:16 Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina announced that the new package of military aid to Ukraine will include armored vehicles and drones, as well as the training and equipment of several thousand more Ukrainian troops.

18:55 220 Iranian Fath-360 ballistic missiles have arrived in Russia from Iran via the Caspian Sea, Sky News writes. In turn, The New York Times reports that Russia recently received new supplies of ballistic missiles from North Korea.

18:48 UK Defence Secretary John Healey said Ukraine will receive hundreds of additional air defence missiles, tens of thousands of additional artillery rounds and armoured vehicles by the end of the year.

18:43 The victory plan will be presented at the Second Peace Summit and should force Russia to end the war diplomatically, Zelensky said: "This plan must be presented at the Second Peace Summit to force Russia to end the war diplomatically. If partners support it, it will help Ukraine force Russia to end the war."

18:39 Ukraine received information about Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia from intelligence services of partner countries, Zelensky said. He added that he does not know the exact number of missiles, nor does he have information about their use: "I will be able to confirm this when there is evidence. As was the case with North Korea. We know so far about the use of a large number of Iranian drones. As for the use of Iranian missiles, there are no other details yet."

18:35 The SBU has announced suspicion against Russian Lieutenant General Konstantin Stepanishchev, deputy commander of the 6th Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation, who planned a "blitzkrieg" to capture Kharkov.

18:32 The British government said it would provide £242 million ($315 million) to Ukraine for urgent humanitarian, energy and stabilisation needs, as well as to support reform, recovery and reconstruction. The funds will be provided over 2024-2025.

London will also provide $484 million in loan guarantees through the World Bank by the end of the year. The funds will be used to fund vital public services, including schools and hospitals, civil servants’ salaries and pensions. This is the second part of a total of $3 billion in loan guarantees that the UK pledged at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London last year.

18:14 Zelensky said that he knows nothing about Scholz's "peace plan" and doubts that it even exists: "There can be no plans for us without Ukraine. I'm not even sure that such a plan exists."

17:56 Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, after announcing new Western sanctions against the country for supplying Russia with ballistic missiles, said that no deliveries had allegedly taken place: "Once again, the US and EU are acting on faulty intelligence and flawed logic - Iran did not supply ballistic missiles to Russia. Period. Those who support sanctions should ask themselves: how can Iran produce and allegedly sell sophisticated weapons? Sanctions are not a solution, they are part of the problem."

17:39 Zelensky reported that he held a meeting in Kyiv with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. The key topics of the conversation were humanitarian demining, post-war reconstruction and restoration of energy facilities. Croatia announced the 11th package of military aid to Ukraine today.

15:36 The Wall Street Journal writes that the West demands a "Plan B" from Ukraine with realistic war goals. According to the newspaper, Ukraine has been told that a complete victory over Russia will require hundreds of billions of dollars that the West cannot provide, so partner countries want to see a convincing plan for 2025 that could be presented to their voters tired of the war so that Kiev would continue to receive weapons and aid. The question of what can be considered a victory and what will be needed to achieve it is one of the main topics of the visit to Kiev by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy, the newspaper writes.

14:58 Latvia has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which will include, in particular, armored personnel carriers, Shmyhal said. Latvia will also support Ukraine with energy equipment, provide solar panels to hospitals, and help restore the Chernihiv region.

13:37 Kiev would like India to "moderate" possible talks with Moscow, said Ukrainian Ambassador to New Delhi Oleksandr Polischuk. According to him, India should play a more active role in ending the war in Ukraine if it wants to get a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Overall, Ukraine loses $11.2 billion annually due to mined territories, according to a study by the Tony Blair Institute, conducted jointly with the Ministry of Economy. Chernihiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions have lost more than 20% of their GDP. Local budgets of these regions are losing more than $1.1 billion in taxes due to mined territories.

12:50 Peskov said that the decision to strike deep into Russian territory with ATACMS missiles has probably already been made, and they are trying to formalize it through the media. Russia's response to strikes deep into its territory "will be appropriate," Peskov added. According to the Kremlin spokesman, the involvement of the United States and European countries in the conflict is direct, and "the SVO itself is a response to possible strikes deep into Russia." Peskov also said that Biden's call to Putin could not put an end to the war, but the end could be put by "the United States' abandonment of the policy of using Ukraine as an expendable material in an attempt to suppress Russia."

12:46 Zelensky took part in the opening ceremony of the national memorial dedicated to the tragedy of the Crimean Tatar people, and expressed confidence that "certainly" a similar memorial will appear in Crimea. She said that Trump "would have given up in 24 hours" and "Putin would be sitting in Kiev" and looking further towards Europe. "We need to understand the importance of NATO and what we are doing to support Ukraine. Otherwise, Putin would already be sitting in Kiev thinking about how to attack Poland. You think you are friends with a dictator, but he would eat you for lunch," Harris said.

Trump, in turn, avoided answering the question of whether he wants Ukraine to win: "I want the war to end. I want to save lives because people are dying in the millions. Billions of money are being spent on this war by America. They are not asking Europe for money in this amount." He also once again emphasized that he "knows well" both Zelensky and Putin. "And if I win the election, I will talk to one president, I will talk to the other, and the war will end," Trump assured.

01:14 The White House is "right now" working on lifting US restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons in the war against Russia, Biden said in response to a question from journalists. The Times writes that part of the US administration already supports such a decision.

– The enemy is consolidating its positions in the plantings and surrounding areas of the Yuzhnodonbasskaya mine No. 3, preparing it for defense. According to some reports, Russian troops have also taken control of the industrial zone of the Stroydetal plant and the adjacent dachas.

To seize the Russian drilling rig, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine sent a naval landing force of fourteen American Willard "Sea Force" boats with servicemen of the special operations forces of the Ukrainian Navy.

During the battle, the Black Sea Fleet and Russian servicemen carrying out the task of guarding and defending the drilling rig sank eight naval boats and destroyed up to eighty Ukrainian special operations forces servicemen.

Six more Ukrainian boats retreated without even attempting to pick up the wounded Ukrainian servicemen remaining in the water.

The latest “media operation” of the Kyiv regime in the Black Sea, timed to coincide with the arrival of high-ranking representatives of the United States and European countries in Ukraine on September 11, was drowned in blood and took the lives of many dozens of Ukrainian servicemen.

#7  US/NATO pontoon bridges are almost identical.

Form follows function. It is true in war as well as biology.

Looks like they have a handle on the bridge thing.
I wonder how they are with piers.

#8  The Russians used to be experts at crossing rivers. Their skill has atrophied since WWII and the fall of the Soviet Union, but they still have damn good equipment. And in all honesty I would be suspect of the US's ability to ford a river under fire. It just isn't a skill that has been needed since 1990.

After lots of pontoon losses, the Russians will learn and then they will put them up faster then they can be destroyed. I think Ukraine missed the window to bag the units trapped behind the river. Been too long.

Britain Allows Ukraine to Fire Storm Shadow Missiles at Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The UK authorities have approved Ukraine's strikes deep into Russia with long-range Storm Shadow missiles. The Guardian newspaper wrote about this on September 11.

“Sources in the British government said that a decision had already been made to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles against targets in Russia,” the article stated.

It is claimed that there will be no public announcement about this at the meeting between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden in Washington on Friday, September 12.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, permission for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use long-range Storm Shadow missiles to strike deep into Russia would involve the US and Great Britain in a full-scale war, said British politician and Heritage Party leader David Kurten. He called for preventing such a development.

Former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter believes that Ukraine could cease to exist if the Kiev regime attempts to strike at Moscow or St. Petersburg.

Ukrainian militants are using weapons supplied by their allies to strike Russia even without official permission from the West. At the end of August, the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the Crimes of the Kiev Regime Rodion Miroshnik stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repeatedly used American ATACMS missiles and French-British Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strike Russia. This cannot be done without Western satellites and guidance systems, Miroshnik specified.

In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that it is impossible to strike Russian territory with long-range precision weapons without space reconnaissance assets. Representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance countries, speaking about such a possibility, must be aware of what they are dealing with, the head of state emphasized.

Zakharova: New arms deliveries to Ukraine are fraught with uncontrolled escalation

New deliveries of Western weapons to Ukraine are fraught with uncontrolled escalation, the West does not yet understand this, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing on September 11.

"The West apparently doesn't care anymore what will happen to Ukraine and Ukrainians. But it probably hasn't dawned on them yet that this is fraught with an uncontrollable escalation," she said.

On September 10, at another meeting in the Ramstein format in Germany, the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, called on NATO countries to increase supplies of air defense systems and long-range missiles. He added that there are enough air defense systems in the world, and Western allies need to be more active with Ukraine in this area.

On the same day, Pentagon Press Secretary Patrick Ryder said that the priority of US military support will remain providing Ukraine with air defense systems for a long time. He emphasized that the United States is aimed at satisfying not only Kiev's immediate needs, but also its long-term ones.

Russia has repeatedly called on Western countries to refrain from providing military aid to the Kiev regime. As President Vladimir Putin emphasized in March, no weapons can change the course of the special operation.

Boris Rozhin: On the supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin;

[ColonelCassad] Expert of the Center for Military-Political Journalism, author of the Telegram channel @boris_rozhin Boris Rozhin

While the United States has either allowed, or has not allowed, or is about to allow the use of long-range missiles on Russian territory, it is high time to speculate on what options there may be. From my point of view, this is a strategic inevitability caused by the West's desire to turn the tide of the war in Ukraine, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces are inexorably losing territory, personnel, and equipment. Having consistently gone through all the stages of the escalation track, the United States and NATO have come close to the next step, namely, strikes deep into Russia from Ukrainian territory.

Since 2022, I have been confident that everything below the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons can and will be used in Ukraine. The West considers the sovereign policy of the Russian Federation an existential threat to the late Washington world order, and it will try to eliminate this threat by any means necessary. Therefore, the approach to the brink of a nuclear war with direct strikes against Russia fits perfectly into this paradigm. It is important to understand that the enemy is not thinking about how to end the war through negotiations, but about how to win it by military and other means. Not to understand this means being a prisoner of illusions about the enemy's intentions.

The US is confident that Moscow will not use nuclear weapons in this case either, and if so, then there is no reason not to shell Russian territory from Ukrainian territory, causing Russia various damage. Therefore, the question of transferring such missiles (and it is quite possible that they have already been delivered and are awaiting political approval, as was the case with the deliveries of missiles for HIMARS, ATACMS, Storm Shadow) is most likely not worth it, since the missiles are probably already on Ukrainian territory.

Of course, a significant portion of long-range missiles (https://russian.rt.com/ussr/news/1367301-ukraina-atacms-rashod) will be shot down, as HIMARS, ATACMS, Storm Shadow, SCALP-EG missiles and so on are shot down. But some percentage may reach their targets, and we must be prepared for this.

We must prepare for these attacks in advance by implementing measures to disperse aircraft, disaggregate ammunition depots, and ensure the security of headquarters and command posts, as was done in the case of the threat from other long-range enemy weapons. Of course, it is necessary to continue to build up the capabilities of operational-tactical and object air defense, including in the context of combating long-range missiles of Western manufacture.

Will these missiles change the overall dynamics of hostilities in Ukraine? No, they will not. Just as the deliveries of the same ATACMS or the deliveries of F-16 aircraft did not change it. Of course, despite any damage that the enemy will try to inflict, the Russian Armed Forces will continue offensive operations in Ukraine, and targets on its territory will be subjected to increasingly powerful fire damage.

Autumn will be hot.

The Grand Turk
Türkiye accuses Siemens of ‘political' nuclear plant decision
[RT] Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has accused German industrial giant Siemens of intentionally delaying the delivery of equipment for the construction of the country's $24 billion Akkuyu nuclear power plant. The facility is set to be the first of its kind in Türkiye, and is being built by Russia’s Rosatom nuclear energy agency.

Speaking to the Anadolu news agency, Bayraktar said Türkiye’s first nuclear power reactor is already more than 90% complete. However, a delay in delivering equipment by Siemens has pushed back the project by several months. The minister claimed that the German company’s decision was taken “with a political attitude on an issue that has no legal basis and is not subject to any international sanctions.”

If Siemens aims to “impose sanctions on Russia, then Türkiye is also seriously affected by this,” Bayraktar added. Ankara has already filed a complaint about the situation “at the highest level,” he stated, insisting that the company should “pay a price” for its behavior.

Bayraktar noted that Siemens is “one of the companies we have been working with for many years,” but that it has “now put us in a difficult situation where we have to seriously question their existence.” In light of the situation, Rosatom has started looking for alternative suppliers and has already placed an order for the necessary equipment in China, the minister added.
"Good Luck"
Ankara had previously projected the launch date of the Akkuyu nuclear facility for October 29 to coincide with Türkiye’s Republic Day celebrations. However, the authorities have since warned that this date is likely to change due to the delay in equipment deliveries from Germany.

The Akkuyu NPP is the first nuclear power plant in Türkiye and is set to include four power units with Russian-designed reactors, each capable of producing 1,200 megawatts.

#1  There's still a huge backlog for large electrical distribution equipment, so I'm not sure that Siemens is trying to pull something political.
