[Regnum] A new defendant has appeared in the criminal case of mother of many children Yulia Loginova and her accomplice Natalia Patoka on the trafficking of newborn children — a resident of the Moscow region Victoria Ponomareva. This was reported on August 25 by law enforcement agencies.
It is noted that the suspect has already confessed, TASS reported. Her involvement in the crime has also been confirmed by information from the civil registry office and the findings of molecular genetic forensic examinations.
The court chose a preventive measure in relation to the woman in the form of a ban on certain actions. She is prohibited from leaving Moscow and the Moscow region, communicating with other defendants and witnesses, sending and receiving correspondence, and conducting negotiations using communication devices and the Internet.
“Ponomareva Viktoria has been charged with trafficking in minors as part of an organized group (Part 3 of Article 127.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” a source in law enforcement agencies clarified.
In total, there are 13 defendants in the case.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, the investigation into the main defendant in the case began in October 2023. Loginova came to the attention of law enforcement officers when doctors found a drug contraindicated for his illness in the blood of one of her children. When they found out where the woman had so many children, she said that she gave birth to two herself, three were born to her by a surrogate mother, and the rest were adopted.
DNA testing did not confirm Loginova's relationship with any of the children. According to investigators, Loginova submitted false information about the birth of her children to specialized agencies in 2018–2019, since she could not have given birth to them during this period for medical reasons. Investigators suspect that the woman may have bought the children. In total, the accused is supporting 15 minors.
On October 18, the Preobrazhensky Court of Moscow decided to remand Loginova in custody. The case also involves Natalya Patoka, who is suspected of assisting Loginova, and Farizade Usmanova, who gave her her young daughter and son for adoption using false documents.
Investigative bodies are conducting DNA tests to identify new defendants in a criminal case on the trafficking of newborn children in Moscow. Investigators have managed to identify another suspect. The woman was charged under the article on human trafficking for a transaction made in 2020.
According to the case materials, ten criminal cases on the trade of newborn children in Moscow have been combined into one proceeding. The investigation period for this case has been extended until October 16.
On August 10, it became known that Loginova fully admitted her guilt in the child trafficking case.

[NY Post] The sound of explosions rang out in central Kyiv on Monday morning during rush hour as Ukraine’s military warned of a massive Russian missile and drone attack following waves of drone attacks in the early hours.
The air force told Ukrainians Russia had 11 TU-95 strategic bombers in the air and confirmed the launch of a number of missiles.
Outside the Ukrainian capital, Reuters reporters heard the sound of air defenses engaging targets.
Local authorities reported explosions in the northwestern city of Lutsk and said that an apartment block had been damaged and that they were verifying possible casualties.
The Operational Command of the Polish armed forces said on X that Polish and allied aircraft had been activated after Russia launched the attack which also targeted regions in Ukraine’s west and near the Polish border.
Ukrainians have been expecting a major Russian missile attack for some time.
The US embassy issued a warning last week of an elevated risk of attack around Ukrainian Independence Day, which Ukraine marked on Saturday.
Ukraine has itself stepped up its long-range drone attacks on Russia to try hit back at Moscow, which launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
"The desire to destroy our energy will cost the Russians dearly: their infrastructure," Andriy Yermak, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, said on Telegram, apparently vowing retaliation.
Russia launched two waves of drone attacks earlier on Monday, Ukraine’s military said, with initial information showing no damage or casualties.
Up to 10 drones were destroyed on their approach to the city in the region around Kyiv at about 0230 GMT, Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said on the Telegram messaging app.
There was no immediate comment from Russia.
Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians.
Each says its attacks are aimed at destroying infrastructure key to the other’s war effort.

This was a massive attack striking entire Ukrainian country. During the day. Full view. No defense to speak of. No let up. Russian tempo will only continue and increase.

Two other members of the six-person Reuters crew were hospitalized with injuries.
Local officials said the hotel was struck by an Iskander-M Russian ballistic missile, leaving the reporters with blast injuries, concussions and cuts on the body.
Associated Press reporters at the scene described the hotel as "rubble," with excavators being used to clear debris hours after the attack.
Besides the hotel, a nearby multistory building was also destroyed, said Donetsk regional Gov. Vadym Filashkin.
Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region also came under Russian fire, resulting in multiple civilian injuries, regional Gov. Oleh Syniehubov wrote on the Telegram messaging app Sunday.

When I served during Intifada I, I often fantasized about killing western journalists.
A precise missile strike in Kramatorsk destroyed a hotel where Ukrainian Armed Forces militants and mercenaries were staying
The Russian Armed Forces launched a missile strike on a hotel in Kramatorsk (northern DPR), where Ukrainian Armed Forces militants and mercenaries were accommodated.
The enemy publishes footage of the aftermath of the strike.
The region's occupation authorities claim that foreign journalists were living there, two of whom were wounded.
When I was in we had a saying that if you saw a soldier with an RPG pointed at you and a cameraman with a camera pointed at you, shoot the cameraman as their weapon does more damage.
Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.
[Korrespondent] 22:12 The Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced in the Kursk region from one to three kilometers and taken control of two more settlements, Zelensky said following a conversation with Syrsky. "Active actions continue in relation to another settlement. There is a replenishment of the exchange fund... We also discussed our Donbas separately - our defensive actions. The most attention is on Novogrodovka, Vodyanoye. The most assaults," the president noted in an evening video address.
20:45 The Foreign Ministry stated that Belarus, under the guise of exercises, is concentrating a significant number of personnel and military equipment in the Gomel region near the northern borders of Ukraine. The presence of mercenaries from the former Wagner PMC has also been recorded. "Conducting exercises in the border zone and in close proximity to a nuclear power facility, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, creates threats to the national security of Ukraine and global security in general. We call on officials of the Republic of Belarus not to make tragic mistakes for their own country under pressure from Moscow, and its armed forces to stop unfriendly actions and withdraw troops from the state border of Ukraine," the statement said.
The agency also emphasizes that Ukraine "has never taken and is not going to take any unfriendly actions against the Belarusian people," and in the event of a violation of the state border, "it will take all necessary measures in order to implement the right to self-defense guaranteed by the UN Charter." At the same time, all troop concentrations, military facilities and supply routes to the territory of Belarus will be legitimate targets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

18:13 Pope Francis is concerned about the decision to ban the Russian church in Ukraine: "Let no Christian church be abolished, directly or indirectly: churches should not be touched." The Pontiff called for allowing people to pray "in the church they consider their own."
17:45 Zelensky said in an interview with Indian media that he is in favor of holding the second Peace Summit in one of the countries of the Global South, possibly in India: "I really believe that the second Peace Summit should be in one of the countries, preferably in the Global South. And we are very open. There are countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, like Turkey... But I want to be frank. This applies not only to India, but to any state that would be positive about hosting the summit - we will not be able to hold the Peace Summit in a country that has not yet joined the summit's communiqué. No one is pressuring anyone, but this is logical."
14:12 Zelensky said in an interview with Indian media that the Kursk operation is part of a "large military-political, military-diplomatic operation. Everything we do is only to force Russia to be ready for a just peace."
10:19 The Russian army struck a residential building in the Dniprovsky district of Kherson, one person was killed, reported the head of the OVA Oleksandr Prokudin. Over the past day, as a result of Russian shelling in the region, two people were killed, nine more were injured, including one child.
10:08 The Prosecutor General's Office clarified that Russian troops struck Kramatorsk on the evening of August 24, probably with an Iskander-M ballistic missile. Two foreign media journalists were injured on the territory of the destroyed hotel, and another colleague is probably under the rubble.
09:37 At night, Russians attacked Chuguev in the Kharkiv region - five people were injured, including two children aged four and 14, said OVA head Oleg Sinegubov. Also at night, Russian troops attacked the Slobodsky district of Kharkiv - eight people were injured.

Also in Balakleya, while extinguishing a fire, a rescue vehicle was blown up, two of them were injured.
09:26 Zelensky showed the Ukrainian drone missile Palyanitsa for the first time. According to the president, the missile's development lasted a year and a half, it is cheaper than its analogues. On August 24, seven people were killed in Russian shelling in the region: five in Konstantinovka, one each in Toretsk and Kotlino. Another 15 people in the region were injured in the past 24 hours.
08:23 At night, Russia launched a missile strike on the frontline regions of Ukraine with various types, the Air Force reported. The Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions were attacked. The enemy used ground-based missiles: the Iskander-K cruise missile, the Iskander-M ballistic missile and six Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missiles. 02:20 Ukraine is seeking permission from the West to use long-range Storm Shadow missiles for a "demonstration attack" on Russia, The Guardian reports, citing sources. This, according to Kiev, could force Moscow to negotiate a cessation of hostilities. According to one of the publication's sources, the idea is that Russia will only consider negotiations when it believes that Ukraine is capable of "threatening Moscow and St Petersburg." However, this strategy is associated with high risks and does not yet enjoy the support of the United States.

21:50 The US and UK provided Ukraine with satellite images and reconnaissance of the Kursk region after the Ukrainian Armed Forces began their offensive, The New York Times reports, citing US officials. The information helped Ukrainian troops track the movement of Russian reinforcements that could attack the Ukrainian Armed Forces or cut off their possible retreat routes to Ukraine.
Some sources reported that with the strengthening of the Defense Forces' control over the western part of the Russian Federation, the risk of overloading the logistics chains and air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces increases. The transfer of additional forces to the Kursk region could threaten to weaken Kyiv's position along the front lines in eastern Ukraine.
At the same time, Washington is not sure that Ukraine will hold the captured territories in the long term. At the same time, a Pentagon representative in a commentary to the NYT noted that Kyiv may be planning to strengthen its positions on Russian territory in order to expand the buffer zone. Officials also emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive was indeed carefully planned, but the success exceeded expectations. "Ukraine took advantage of Moscow's slow reaction and is now acting more flexibly," the sources note.

19:49 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:
Pokrovsk direction: offensive of the Russian Armed Forces in the area of Novogrodovka and Kalinovo.
– The units of the Russian Armed Forces are developing their success on the southern face of the Pokrovsk direction. Russian troops are pushing through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces both in Novogrodovka itself and from the flanks, trying to take the city in a semi-ring. The Ukrainian formations, deprived of their usual advantage in the form of well-fortified defensive lines, are gradually rolling back on several sections of the front at once.
– The advanced units of the Russian Armed Forces have advanced along the Krutoy Yar – Krasny Yar line, having secured a foothold on the southeastern outskirts of the latter. Russian troops are actively using artillery and UAVs to suppress the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ firing points, which allows attack aircraft to clear enemy positions without significant problems.
– Some sources are already reporting that the Russian Armed Forces have control over both settlements, but it has not yet been possible to confirm this information with objective control personnel.
– The liberation of Krutoy and Krasny Yar will allow the Russian Armed Forces to begin the assault on the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions on the Novogrodovskaya mine waste heap No. 3. This height serves as the “key” for forming the northern face of the Novogrodovka semi-envelopment and the enemy units located in the city.
– In Novogrodovka itself, Russian assault aircraft are rapidly overcoming the enemy’s defensive lines. We can confidently speak about the Russian Armed Forces’ control over Michurin and Turgenev streets, as well as the beginning of battles for Molodezhnaya street. According to some reports, the advanced Russian assault groups have already reached the central part of the city and started fighting there.
– Information is being spread online about Russian troops occupying enemy positions in the area of the crossing on the western outskirts of the city and isolated firefights to the north, in the area of the substation on Nekrasov Street. It is likely that we are talking about Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups disrupting supplies and attacking key defense nodes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and not about line units capable of gaining a foothold in the area.
– Despite the spreading panic in the enemy’s information space, it is premature to talk about the Russian Armed Forces’ control over the city. Most reports of Russian units entering certain areas of the settlement come from disoriented local residents who do not have adequate information about the situation in the city.
- To the south, Russian troops are fighting on the approaches to the Kotlyarevskaya mine, the capture of which will simplify the offensive in this section of the front. The advanced assault detachments have advanced close to the Mikhailovka railway station and physically cut off the M-30 highway, along which the enemy units on the northern flank of the Donetsk direction were supplied.
– On the Karlovka-Memrik line, Russian troops significantly expanded their zone of control, developing an offensive from Ptichye towards Kalinovo, and also significantly advanced south along the Karlovskoye Reservoir after taking Skuchnoye.
– According to some information, Russian troops are actively attacking from the flanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defensive lines in the Kalinovo area, trying to bypass and isolate the enemy’s strongholds. The enemy, in turn, is attempting to prevent the Russian Armed Forces from breaking through to the M-30 highway and advancing on Galitsynovka.

Kursk direction: fighting in the Ol'govka area and attacks on Ukrainian armored vehicles.
– In the Kursk region, Russian troops continue to contain the enemy’s onslaught, inflicting significant losses on Ukrainian formations along the entire length of the contact line.
– In the Korenevsky district, the Russian Armed Forces have regained control over Ol'govka, which was fought over several days ago. Apparently, after losing a large number of armored vehicles and manpower in the village and district, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were forced to retreat.
– Two BMP-1s were hit by FPV drones on the approaches to Korenevo and Zeleny Shlyakh. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are not giving up their attempts to enter Korenevo itself, but all their attacks are successfully repelled.
- In the Sudzhansky district, fighting continues in the area of ??Malaya Loknya. All attempts by the enemy to enter and consolidate the village have been thwarted; it is under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Counter-clashes continue in the area of Martynovka and Russkoye Porechny.
– An increase in the intensity of artillery artillery attack on Russian positions has been observed in this area, which is associated with the transfer of additional weapons by Ukrainian formations from other parts of the front.
– Russian troops continue systematic work to destroy air defense systems and radar stations in the Sumy region. UAV operators hit an ST-68 radar of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a Lancet kamikaze drone near Shevchenkove in the Sumy region. In the morning, a Buk-M1 air defense missile system was hit in Gritsenkove.
17:50 Fighters of the Storm detachment of the 68th Army Corps of the Vostok group advanced in the Konstantinovka area –map.
17:01 RF Armed Forces by midday control more than half of Novogrodovka, advancing to the western and northwestern outskirts of the city. The enemy is currently unable to stop this offensive.
The enemy also claims that the Russian Armed Forces in the Marinovka area have taken the Krasnoarmeysk-Karlovka highway under fire control, which will worsen the situation of the Karlovka group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Kalinovo has not yet been liberated, and fighting for the settlement continues.

Attack aircraft crews on Su-25 aircraft carried out an air strike on a concentration of manpower, armored and automobile military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the border area of the Kursk Region. The strike was carried out with air missiles on reconnoitered targets.
