[NYPOST] A federal judge has thrown out major felony charges against two former Louisville officers accused of falsifying a warrant that led police to Breonna Taylor's door before they fatally shot her.
U.S. District Judge Charles Simpson's ruling declared that the actions of Taylor's boyfriend, who fired a shot at police the night of the raid, were the legal cause of her death, not a bad warrant.
Federal charges against former Louisville Police Detective Joshua Jaynes and former Sgt. Kyle Meany were announced by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022 during a high-profile visit to Louisville.
Garland accused Jaynes and Meany, who were not present at the raid, of knowing they had falsified part of the warrant and put Taylor in a dangerous situation by sending armed officers to her apartment.

Update at 11:55 a.m ET: Here’s the best summary I can find: the Louisville police raided her apartment back in March 2020 because she was holding the profits of her old boyfriend, a drug dealer, while living with her new boyfriend, another drug dealer. The new boyfriend shot at the police while hiding behind her, allowing her body to absorb the bullets aimed back at him. The police claim they knocked; someone in the Louisville PD leaked information that the address was raided because the old boyfriend was using her rental car, which had a bill with her address and phone number on it.

[NYPOST] The principal of a Brooklyn high school plagued by a gang of Hitler-loving youths and acts of antisemitism is being removed and replaced with a Muslim educator, The Post has learned.
Dara Kammerman's departure as interim principal of Origins High School comes six months after The Post exposed complaints that she had failed to stem outbursts against Jewish and LBGTQ students and teachers.
Kammerman sent an email to the school community on Monday saying she will be ''stepping down'' after working 11 years at the Sheepshead Bay school. She made no mention of the turmoil, calling Origins ''beautifully diverse'' and saying ''I am proud of what the school has become over the years.'' "Diversity is our strength, y'know."
The change also comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed against the city Department of Education by Jewish teacher Danielle Kaminsky and campus manager Michael Beaudry, who allege they were removed from the school in retaliation for blowing the whistle on anti-Jewish and anti-gay hate.
Kaminsky, 34, was terrorized by teens who called her ''a dirty Jew,'' scrawled swastikas in the classroom, gave the Nazi salute and told her ''I wish you were killed'' in the Holocaust, she said. Students tore down an Israeli flag in her classroom, and wrote ''DIE'' on the door.
The misconduct continued because Kammerman did not adequately discipline the students — once insisting that teens taunting the teacher about liking Hitler ''were trying to have an academic conversation,'' records show.
In a separate email, Superintendent Michael Prayor said Kammerman ''will continue to be a valuable member of my team.'' He did not elaborate on her new role. She made $170,508 last year.
Prayor replaced her with Ahmed Elmaliki, a former English teacher with less than two years' experience as an assistant principal at Boerum Hill School for International Studies.
In his own email, Elmaliki described himself as ''the child of hard-working immigrants from Yemen.''
[IsraelTimes] Event for Joshua Leifer’s ‘Tablets Shattered’ back on as owner of bookstore blames rogue employee for ‘hideous’ incident, fires her.
An event at a Brooklyn bookstore that was canceled because an employee objected to its "Zionist" moderator, causing widespread backlash, has been rescheduled for a different location next week.
The event for "Tablets Shattered," a new book on American Jewish life by journalist Joshua Leifer, will take place on Monday evening at the Center for New Jewish Culture in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights.
Monday’s discussion will be moderated by Rabbi Andy Bachman, who was supposed to host the initial event at Powerhouse Arena, an independent bookstore in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn. Leifer is a Jewish journalist who has written for a range of left-wing publications including Jewish Currents and +972, and Bachman, who previously led Park Slope’s Congregation Beth Elohim and identifies as a Zionist, is a progressive and a critic of the Israeli government.
The Powerhouse Arena event was initially set to take place this past Tuesday. But shortly before the start time, Leifer said he learned the event had been canceled because Bachman is a Zionist.
The bookstore "told me they were unwilling to host the conversation with Andy because they would not permit a Zionist on the premises," Leifer wrote on X.
The owner of the bookstore, Daniel Power, told the New York Jewish Week that a rogue employee had canceled the event and would be fired over the incident. "It’s hideous, it’s uncalled for, and it was completely unauthorized," he said.
On Thursday, the bookstore released a public statement condemning the employee’s decision to cancel the event, confirming she had been fired, and acknowledging "anti-Semetic [sic] hostility."
"Bookstores especially cannot fulfill their basic raison d’être without an unflinching commitment to the free and open exchange of ideas," the statement said.
The cancellation drew harsh criticism from Jewish leaders and public officials, including New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander (who also self-identified as a Zionist) and New York Reps. Dan Goldman and Ritchie Torres.
"We know and respect both Josh and Rabbi Bachman quite a lot and so it feels like a no-brainer from us, from a community perspective," said Rabbi Matt Green, co-founder of the Center for New Jewish Culture, about why the venue decided to host the event.
"The Center for New Jewish Culture is founded on the idea that we need to have difficult conversations, and I would say we need to have conversations that really impact the Jewish people right now, and this obviously is one," he added.
The term "Zionist" has become pejorative in parts of the American left, with progressive groups, business owners and college students actively seeking to exclude "Zionists" from public spaces. Surveys show that most Jews in the United States feel an attachment to Israel.

Controversy over the Israel-Hamas war has embroiled other literary spaces since October 7. A viral list targeting "Zionist" authors circulated online, a Jewish sponsor of the National Book Awards withdrew from the ceremony due to an effort to call for a ceasefire, and PEN America canceled an annual festival due to disputes over the war.
Last month, a manager at a reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... bookstore, City Lit, withdrew Gabrielle Zevin’s popular book "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" from consideration for a book club because she claimed that Zevin — who has not spoken publicly about her views on Israel — was a "Zionist." The bookstore later apologized for the decision but did not apologize to Zevin.
An online petition launched earlier this week demanding more Jewish and Zionist representation in independent bookstores, including Powerhouse, has garnered more than 700 signatures.

His death was confirmed by the Eritrean Human Rights Council (HRC), a UK-based organization.
Abrehe was arrested on September 17, 2018, shortly after publishing a book critical of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki titled "Hagerey Eritrea" (My Country, Eritrea). He had been held at Carshelli prison in Asmara's capital, without formal charges or a fair trial.
A former Eritrean Liberation Front (ELF) member and later Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) member, Abrehe played a significant role in the struggle for Eritrea's independence. After independence in 1993, he held several key government positions, including Minister of Finance from 2001 to 2012.
Despite his high-ranking position, Abrehe publicly criticized the government's financial practices and the concentration of power in the hands of President Afwerki. His outspoken views led to his removal from office in 2012 and subsequent arrest in 2018.
Abrehe's health had been deteriorating, particularly after a liver transplant in 2009. His wife, Almaz Habtemariam, who was arrested alongside him in 2018, was released two years later without trial.

A disability rights organization is challenging a suburban New York ban on wearing masks in public except for health and religious reasons, arguing it is unconstitutional and discriminates against people with disabilities.

The federal class action lawsuit, filed by Disability Rights of New York on behalf of individuals with disabilities, seeks a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to immediately stop enforcement of Nassau County’s Mask Transparency Act.
[JustTheNews] The poll found that 54% of respondents said they believe illegal immigrants will vote in November, and 75% of respondents said they do not support allowing illegal immigrants to vote in federal elections.
The majority of respondents in a poll published Friday said they believe a large amount of people who are in the country illegally will actually vote in November's general election.
The poll, conducted by the Napolitan News Service, found that 54% of respondents said they believe illegal immigrants will vote in November, and 75% of respondents said they do not support allowing illegal immigrants to vote in federal elections.
An even larger percentage of the survey takers (87%) support requiring voter ID in order to vote in federal elections, according to the poll.
The poll comes as Republicans in Congress attempt to push through the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which requires voters to prove their citizenship in the United States in order to vote in federal elections. The bill has passed the House, but not the Senate.
And it won’t pass in the Senate so long as the Democrats have a majority.
The survey polled 1,000 Registered Voters on Aug. 20, and 21. It has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Trump had the families of those killed by illegal immigrants colonists in the US speak, talking about the pain and heartbreak they've endured following their loved ones' deaths.
The mother of Rachel Morin, who was allegedly murdered by an undocumented Democrat on a Maryland hiking trail who had reentered the US three times, broke down in tears as she recounted the day authorities told her they found her daughter's body.
"We're 1,800 from the border. And because of this open border, we've had, not just my daughter, we've actually had two in the same county" where illegal immigrants colonists have raped and murdered someone.
"We should be taking care of our country, our people. And the only way I believe that's gonna happen is if President Trump is re-elected as president."
The mother of Jocelyn Nungaray also spoke out, with the 12-year-old being allegedly murdered and raped by two illegal immigrants colonists. She recalled her daughter, saying she "had dreams to be famous," and was "her own personality."

We need to bring back a realistically applied Death Penalty process. The few death row inmate executions that are actually done, usually take about 20 years.

...we lost over 500,000 in a war to stop that in a population 1/10th the size of what it is today. The death penalty for violating the commitment to end that crime is not 'cruel or unusual'. Just release them into the general prison population will solve the 'timeliness' issue.
