[FoxNews] The Biden administration claimed the rule wouldn't permit biological men to compete in women's sports, but many experts disagreed.
The Supreme Court voted 5-4 Friday to reject a Biden administration emergency request to enforce portions of a new rule that includes protections from discrimination for transgender students under Title IX.
The request would have permitted biological men in women’s bathrooms, locker rooms and dorms in 10 states where there are state-level and local-level rules in place to prevent it.
The sweeping rule was issued in April and clarified that Title IX’s ban on "sex" discrimination in schools covers discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation and "pregnancy or related conditions."
The rule took effect Aug. 1, and, for the first time, the law stated that discrimination based on sex includes conduct related to a person’s gender identity.
Conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch, dissented, agreeing with the three liberal justices and the Biden administration that the lower court rulings were "overbroad."
Earlier this week, a group of 102 female athletes and 26 states petitioned the Supreme Court to take up a challenge over state laws that ban transgender women from competing against biological female athletes, according to a filing obtained by The Washington Times.
The petitioners argued that physical fitness tests demonstrate that there is a difference between men and women at every age.
"A growing number of women and girls have been facing the humiliating and damaging experience of being forced to compete against males who identify as transgender in the women’s sports category," the athletes’ filing states.
"It is hard to express the pain, humiliation, frustration and shame women experience when they are forced to compete against males in sport. It is public shaming and suffering, an exclusion from women’s own category."

[JustTheNews] Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen instructed county Boards of Registrars to remove 3,251 people from active voter rolls and to set their registrations as inactive over their citizenship status.
The individuals facing removal were found to have been issued non-citizen identification numbers by the Department of Homeland Security, Allen indicated in the announcement.
“I have been clear that I will not tolerate the participation of noncitizens in our elections,” Allen said. “I have even gone so far as to testify before a United States Senate Committee regarding the importance of this issue. We have examined the current voter file in an attempt to identify anyone who appears on that list that has been issued a noncitizen identification number.”
The federal government has declined Allen's requests to provide a list of non-citizens who reside in Alabama. Also, because some individuals who received non-citizen identification numbers may have since become naturalized citizens, the Secretary of State’s Office will allow them to update their voter registration information and vote following their verification.
Registered voters identified as having non-citizen identification numbers have also been referred to the Alabama Attorney General's Office for investigation.
“This is not a one-time review of our voter file. We will continue to conduct such reviews to do everything possible to make sure that everyone on our file is an eligible voter,” Allen said. “I am hopeful that in the near future the federal government will change course and be helpful to states as we work to protect our elections.”
[Breitbart] Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced he would write to U.S. President Joe Biden to complain about his administration financing non-governmental organizations that have been critical of his government.
Ooooohhhh…. a stiff diplomatic note — we haven’t had one of those in ages!
The politician made the announcement during one of his morning news conferences. He pointed out that his Foreign Relations Ministry had just sent a diplomatic notice about the issue and added he was personally drafting a letter for Biden about it.
The diplomatic note is the second one Mexico’s diplomats have sent on the same issue. During the news conference, officials said the first diplomatic note had been sent in 2021. The message went unanswered.
Lopez Obrador complained that the Department of State has helped finance the group Mexicanos Contra La Corrupcion y La Impunidad (Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity) through USAID programs.
The NGO gained much notoriety in recent years for compiling reports and statistics about crime and corruption in the country. According to MCCI, when Lopez Obrador was trying to win the presidency, he would quote their reports. However, now that his party is in office, he considers the NGO part of the opposition for questioning high-level corruption, contract rigging, and other alleged improprieties reported by them.
Earlier in the week, Mexico’s Financial Crimes Unit (UIF) released information that the U.S. government has reportedly sent more than 97 million pesos (approximately $5 million USD) to MCCI since 2018. Officials also singled out several U.S. private donors, including funds from the Rockefeller and Ford foundations.
Lopez Obrador claimed he considers the U.S. government’s support for MCCI a violation of his nation’s sovereignty and possible election interference.

I don't understand why we finance any NGOs. But then, I don't understand why we send foreign aid money to Mexico either. I certainly wouldn't send them another penny until they stop polluting Imperial Beach with sewage from Tijuana.

[FoxNews] Turkey’s parliament descended into chaos Friday after a member of an opposition party called President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s party a "terrorist organization."
A member of Erdoğan’s party approached Ahmet Sik, who is in the same Workers’ Party of Turkey as a delegate believed to have been jailed for political reasons, and attacked him after Sik made the "terrorist" claim.
"We're not surprised that you call Can Atalay a terrorist, just as you do everyone who does not side with you," Sik said in his speech. "But the biggest terrorists are the ones sitting in these seats."
Soon, dozens of lawmakers had joined the skirmish, with some throwing punches and papers and others trying to stop the fighting.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly had been debating Can Atalay, who was elected as a parliamentary deputy in May 2023 while imprisoned for his role in 2013 anti-government protests.
Atalay, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2022 over the protests that challenged Erdoğan’s rule, wants to serve his term in parliament, saying he would return to prison afterward.
[NYPOST] The Illinois state comptroller took the extraordinary step of withholding some funds from the troubled village of Dolton on Thursday, blaming scandal-scarred Tiffany Henyard for the first-of-its-kind action — as the self-proclaimed ''Super Mayor'' told cops to follow orders from her disgraced department ally who was placed on leave before being indicted.
State Comptroller Susana Mendoza said she would immediately suspend all ''offset'' monies typically doled out to municipalities because Dolton leader Henyard ''refuses'' to turn over financial reports to the state.
The village was on track to gain $135,000 this year — but instead could start facing fines if the problems drag on. If the issues are fixed, the comptroller will restart the payments.
Mendoza said while her office tries to assist municipalities that struggle to file required annual reports, ''Dolton is different.''
''The Mayor's office has refused to communicate with us or address the problem,'' she said in a statement. ''If Mayor Henyard refuses to follow state law, my office will use the tools at our disposal to safeguard the interests of Dolton's citizens.''
The village did not send reports to the comptroller's office in 2022 and 2023, the comptroller said.
The state collects the ''offset'' funds when it withholds part of a resident's income tax return or lotto winnings if they don't pay a parking or speeding ticket at the local level, according to a comptroller spokesperson.
Those funds are then distributed back to the municipality, according to the office.
The state agency made clear it would not give Dolton — which is already facing financial hardship — the money until it gets into compliance with its financial records.
But the village could face fines totaling $78,600 over the delinquent paperwork if municipal officials don't release the records, the comptroller's office said.
Henyard, who was elected in 2021, has faced mounting allegations of maleficence in office, including misuse of taxpayer funds. Federal Sherlocks reportedly subpoenaed financial information and documents tied to her and the village earlier this year as part of a probe.
Henyard's ally in the police department, Deputy Chief Lewis Lacey, was federally indicted on bankruptcy fraud and other charges Monday, though the criminal case is not connected to the village.
He was placed on administrative leave last week by trustees opposed to Henyard before the indictment, but a lawyer for the trustees reportedly said he's still going to work.
The confusion over his job status persisted into this week.
Henyard ordered coppers to continue following orders from Lacey on Thursday, according to video obtained by WGN.
''Stop playing these silly games,'' Henyard is heard saying.
Lacey also issued a warning that cops had better fall in line, according to the station.
''Do what you want, but anything after this is insubordination,'' he said.
But Village Administrator Keith Freeman told officers in an email that Lacey was no longer employed by the village.
''Mr. Lacey is not allowed in any spaces reserved for employees with an escort,'' he said, according to WGN.

[NYPost] Congressman blasts FBI for releasing Thomas Crooks' body for cremation days after Trump shooting -- calling it "disturbing" that the agency would impede further investigation.
Louisiana Rep. Clay Higgins has blasted the FBI for releasing attempted Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks’ body to his family for cremation days after the shooting — calling it “disturbing” that the agency would impede further investigation.
The Republican congressman said he discovered that Crooks’ body was handed over to his family when he requested to examine it during his visit to the Butler, Pennsylvania rally site to investigate the shooting.
"My effort to examine Crooks’ body on Monday, August 5, caused quite a stir and revealed a disturbing fact... the FBI released the body for cremation 10 days after (July 13)," Higgins wrote in the report to the July 13 Task Force, a bipartisan committee organized to investigate the security failures around the shooting. At least the FBI had the decency to wait until after the autopsy to cremate the evidence.
#4
/\ “Why, then, by what measure, would the FBI release his body to the family for cremation?” Higgins asked. “This pattern of investigative scorched earth by the FBI is quite troubling.”
“This action by the FBI can only be described by any reasonable man as an obstruction to any following investigative effort,” the congressman said.

On 13 July I foresaw a rapid and secret cremation of the perp's remains. The most we will know from now on are the story told by the records. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that no DNA tests were done on the remains to prove it was Thomas Crooks.
According to this story the rifle used was damaged by the shot fired by the first sniper, and that from then on the rifle was inoperable. I wonder what the rifle photos will reflect that (if we ever get to see them).
The autopsy results remain a state secret, as does the make/model of the perp's rifle. AFAICT the FBI has only had a single press conference. AFAICT as of 9 August the Butler incidence LEO team has not been debriefed.

It is said to say, but the evidence keeps piling up that the DC Swamp had a hand in this and has something to hide.
Now add to this.

Now suddenly, to explain the audio.
Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) said a Butler SWAT Operator stepped forward and claimed that he fired the 1st shot TMC ‘From the Ground’ Before Secret Service Delivered the Fatal Shot.
Why did he wait so long to claim it?
Also, if he fired at TC from the ground, how did he hit the rifle's stock near TC's neck, as claimed?

[JustTheNews] The anti-crime bill package signed by Newsom, in addition to another bill Newsom says he is going to sign, would also make major changes to criminal prosecution in California.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a 10-bill anti-crime package as Democrats in the state race to address perceptions of rising crime in California as a new anti-crime ballot measure opposed by the governor seems increasingly likely to pass.
“I thank the bipartisan group of lawmakers, our retail partners, and advocates for putting public safety over politics,” said Newsom in a statement. “While some try to take us back to ineffective and costly policies of the past, these new laws present a better way forward — making our communities safer and providing meaningful tools to help law enforcement arrest criminals and hold them accountable.”
Newsom’s reference to Proposition 36, an anti-crime ballot measure that a new Los Angeles Times poll says 56% of voters support and only 23% oppose. Prop. 36 would change Prop. 47, a 2014 measure that turned potential felonies into misdemeanors for many crimes, by allowing for felony charges for serial thieves. It would also create a “treatment-mandated felony” crime class that allows individuals to get treatment for mental health or behavioral issues and receive shelter instead of going to prison.
The anti-crime bill package signed by Newsom, in addition to another bill Newsom says he is going to sign, would also make major changes to criminal prosecution in California.
AB 2943 allows police to arrest people on suspicion of theft, instead of having had to see someone steal something, and allows prosecutors to combine theft incidents by one person to hit the $950 felony theft threshold. SB 905 ended a loophole that previously required prosecutors to prove that an individual broke into a car that was definitely locked to be found guilty of auto burglary. The pending bill Newsom referenced, AB 1960, would add scaled sentencing enhancements for damage or losses caused while attempting or conducting a felony; theft or damage of $50,000 to $200,000 would add one year, $200,000 to $1 million would add two years, $1-3 million would add four years, with each additional $3 million of damage causing another four years to be added to sentencing.
Prop. 36 has divided Democrats, with some prominent Democrats, including San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan banding together to form a “Yes on 36” committee, and focusing on messaging tying crime and homelessness to lack of required drug and mental health treatment.
“You can’t end the era of encampments without launching the era of mass treatment. Proposition 36 gives us that opportunity, said Mahan on X.
“Prop. 47 needs to be reformed because we went from mass incarceration to a massive failure of accountability,” continued Mahan on X. “And what we really need is mass treatment.”

It is easiest to ride a horse in the direction it is going.
Voters are getting annoyed by crime. Passing new laws makes for great campaign literature, but if the local District Attorneys are not charging and prosecuting, nothing changes despite all the happy tough-on-crime talk.

California Demokrats sense a political groundswell and in the case of Prop 47 disaster, field a plan to get ahead of it and salvage its power by clever masking and vague promises. New money is fungible and replaces existing spending reductions/re-directions after the fact once the election cycle has passed, thus producing net zero increases. Contentious anti-crime measures get litigious roadblocks and slow-walked through friendly courts. Prosecutorial discretion guts strict enforcement provisions. Hamstrung police and sheriffs departments with personnel shortages and officer liability fears increasingly adopt an SFPD mindset (showup late, take a report and never do hot-pursuits or escalation-of-force POC arrests.)
The California electorate bites every time, just like asking after 10 years, where are the new dams? Or the bullet train? So... The price of a house will go up another $25,000...
[ABCNEWS.GO] When Vice President Kamala Harris once a marijuana-busting Caliphornia DA unveils her economic policy proposals in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday, it will include a proposal to provide up to $25,000 in down payment support for first-time homebuyers, according to a campaign official.
The campaign is vowing that during its first term, the Harris-Walz administration would provide working families who have paid their rent on time for two years and are buying their first home up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance, with more generous support for first-generation homeowners.
In a preview statement obtained by ABC News, the campaign says, "Many Americans work hard at their jobs, save, and pay their rent on time month after month. But they can’t save enough after paying their rent and other bills to save for a down payment -- denying them a shot at owning a home and building wealth. As the Harris-Walz plan starts to expand the supply of entry-level homes, they will, during their first term, provide working families who have paid their rent on time for two years and are buying their first home up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance, with more generous support for first-generation homeowners."
"The Biden-Harris administration proposed providing $25,000 in downpayment assistance for 400,000 first-generation home buyers -- or homebuyers whose parents don’t own a home -- and a $10,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers. This plan will significantly simplify and expand the reach of down-payment assistance, allowing over 1 million first time-buyers per year — including first-generation home buyers — to get the funds they need to buy a house when they are ready to buy it," the Harris campaign said.

Let’s focus on Invitation Homes, a $21 billion publicly traded company that was spun off from Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity company, in 2017. Invitation Homes operates in 16 cities, with the biggest concentration in Atlanta, where it owns 12,556 houses. (Though that’s not much compared with the 80,000 homes sold in Atlanta each year, Invitation Homes bought 90 percent of the homes for sale in some ZIP codes in Atlanta in the early 2010s.) While normal people typically pay a mortgage interest rate between 2 percent and 4 percent these days, Invitation Homes can borrow money for far less: It’s getting billion-dollar loans at interest rates around 1.4 percent. In practice, this means that Invitation Homes can afford to tack on an extra $5,000 to $20,000 to the purchase price of every home, while getting the house at the same actual cost as a typical homeowner. While Invitation Homes uses a mixture of debt and cash from renters to buy houses, its offers are almost always all cash, which is a big leg up in a competitive market.
