[NYPOST] This TikTok trend could prove extremely sh[itt]y. Who writes this crap?
Castor oil has been hailed as a treatment for complexion problems and hair growth, but experts are warning against an unlikely side effect when ingested. "Unlikely?" As in hanging your tongue out and rubbing it along the concrete of the sidewalk?
On TikTok, creators claim that that the oil can “detox” the body, but buyer beware: consuming castor oil, derived from the castor bean plant, can cause “explosive diarrhea.”

Granted that regular bowel movement is good for you but the detox movement (pun intended) is full of scams and the like.

Plus it tastes awful. My great uncle likened it to motor oil, and I can attest to the similarity.
Not that we're big motor oil drinkers or anything.

IMO Tik Tok by itself (without the castor oil) can cause a shitty experience.

So, the current generation is learning that castor oil gives you diarrhea. Education!
(I've known that for over 60 years, and I don't want to talk about how I found out...)

Ricin also comes from Castor Bean seeds. Brake fluid was once made from castor beans.
Castor oil is a vegetable oil pressed from castor beans. It is a colourless or pale yellow liquid with a distinct taste and odor. Its boiling point is 313 °C (595 °F) and its density is 0.961 g/cm3. It includes a mixture of triglycerides in which about 90% of fatty acids are ricinoleates. Oleic acid and linoleic acid are the other significant components.
Castor oil and its derivatives are used in the manufacturing of soaps, lubricants, hydraulic and brake fluids, paints, dyes, coatings, inks, cold-resistant plastics, waxes and polishes, nylon, and perfumes.
[Al Jazeera] The African National Congress (ANC) party has lost its parliamentary majority in a historic election result that puts South Africa on a new political path for the first time since the end of the apartheid system of white minority rule 30 years ago.
With more than 99 percent of votes counted on Saturday, the once-dominant ANC had received nearly 40 percent in Wednesday’s election, well short of the majority it had held since the famed all-race vote of 1994 that ended apartheid and brought it to power under Nelson Mandela.

g'day besoeker, TW -
thanks i read your enlightening comments on yesterday's South Africa story but comments are closed now there.
Yes, through no fault of their own the whites born now in that sad nation are on a one-way trip to genocide.
Your story about the nanny, TW, and your warning on Orania being at the whim of the commies (Bskr) made me think
How nice it would be
If one day I moved to the cheaper west coast of australia, and made a half-way house for young white africaans and english both to find skills and a pathway to migrate out of that future hellhole
they are hardworking and intelligent, they might just need some help
Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts (24 May 1870 - 11 Sept 1950), was a South African statesman, military leader and philosopher. In addition to holding various military and cabinet posts, he served as prime minister of the Union of South Africa from 1919 to 1924 and 1939 to 1948. Smuts was born to Afrikaner parents on the farm Bovenplaats, two km north of Riebeek in the British Cape Colony. His birthplace is now an frequently visited museum.
Smuts was born and raised in a Dutch Reformed (Calvinist) Protestant Christian family. He enjoyed a great friendship with Chaim Weizmann, which lasted from their first meeting in 1917 until Smuts’ death in 1950.
Smuts and Weizmann had much in common, sharing a great interest in science, with Smuts becoming the first president of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1931. Weizmann was a Zionist. Smuts, as a devoted Christian, held a firm belief in the right of the Jewish people to their homeland in Palestine.
Smuts was partial toward the Jews and Jewish problems globally, being sympathetic to Jewish immigration to South Africa as early as 1910. In 1917, as Minister of Defense, in which capacity he would become a member of the Imperial War Cabinet in Britain, he promised the South African Zionist Federation that he would support the movement for a Jewish Homeland in Palestine. Shortly after his appointment to the war cabinet, he met with, and developed his lasting friendship with Weizmann, and lent his not-insignificant support to the Balfour Declaration.
A kibbutz was named after Smuts in the 1930s. He had a special place in his heart for the farmer. He fought alongside them in the Boer War. Smuts frequently spoke out against growing anti-semitism. Smutz lived to see the establishment of the nation of Israel.
[Air University Journal of Indo-Pacific Affairs] Abstract - Lengthy article follows.
Foreign adversaries, particularly China, are exploiting LinkedIn to conduct virtual espionage against current and former US Department of Defense (DOD) members. They create fake profiles and lucrative job solicitations to entice targets into divulging sensitive information or becoming recruited assets. This low-risk, low-cost tactic circumvents robust physical and cybersecurity defenses. Every DOD professional is a potential target, from senior leaders to junior personnel, as adversaries seek insights into future capabilities, vulnerabilities, research, operational concepts, and human intelligence networks. Successful recruitment can devastate national security by enabling technological replication, battlefield strategy countering, and compromising of critical personnel. Consequences for individuals include potential treason charges and ruined careers. To combat this threat, a focused US government counterespionage campaign is recommended, coupled with enhanced training, policies, and legal statutes explicitly addressing virtual espionage. Defensive measures must match the scale and sophistication of the virtual threat.
[ZERO] General Dynamics' new 155-millimeter artillery shell factory in Mesquite, Texas, is set to produce 30,000 shells per month, according to a New York Times report. This will provide crucial support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the first and second lines and bring the US Army closer to its 100,000 shell target goal by 2025. However, this goal remains far behind Russia's current 155mm shell production capacity of 250,000 rounds per month.
On Wednesday, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters the new Mesquite shell factory "will significantly increase our country's ability to manufacture parts that are used to produce artillery ammunition."
Kirby said construction at the Mesquite factory began last year with funds allotted by the $95 billion security supplemental passed by Congress last month "to stand up new production lines as part of a national effort to significantly increase the number of artillery shells that we produce every month."
At full capacity, the factory will produce 30,000 155mm shells a month. The latest data from NATO's secretary-general showed that Ukraine fires between 4,000 and 7,000 shells per day. The West is currently depleting 155mm stockpiles, along with other crucial weapons.
Shell factories in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, currently produce about 36,000 155mm shells per month. Once the Mesquite plant reaches its full capacity of 30,000 shells per month, the US Army will be closer to achieving its goal of 100,000 shells per month by 2025.
Why do I have this nasty suspicion that shortage of artillery shells is due to the fact that margin of profit on shells is much slimmer than on super-advanced planes & UAVs?

^^ That's possible as major Russian manufacturing industries have been repurposed to produce military materiel. Most of the country has been directed to a war footing (which also keeps their GDP reports looking good).

First heard about this a couple of weeks ago.
It's in a stand-up business park near two freeways, no rail access. It is convenient for dining and shopping, though.
It has yet to produce something resembling a product, likely won't for at least 6 months.
The US govt is leasing the site, will own all the capital goods, and is hire/leasing General Dynamics to run it.

[IsrelTimes] Israeli-American casino billionaire to reportedly help fund super PAC that she and her late husband Sheldon Adelson gave $90 million in 2020; Bill Ackman also weighing endorsement.
Even some who strongly dislike The Donald are emptying their wallets because he was screwed. Names reported include:
hotelier Robert Bigelow gave anadditional $5 million
Don Tapia, a former Trump ambassador to Jamaica, formed a network of family and friends who increased their give from $250,000 to $1 million
oil businessman Dan Eberhart
In the last few weeks, Trump has hit the fundraising trail hard, hosting high-end events from Texas to New York. He is due to host three fundraisers in California next month, according to invitations seen by Reuters, including one in left-wing San Francisco hosted by tech venture capitalist.
“Every event that I’m involved with is exceeding budget,” said George Glass, a Trump fundraiser and his former ambassador to Portugal. “Most donors feel like the ‘fix’ is in,” Glass said about legal proceedings against Trump.
[GEO.TV] Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance is projected to win a big majority in the general election that concluded on Saturday, TV exit polls said, suggesting it would do better than expected by most analysts.
Most exit polls projected the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) could win a two-thirds majority in the 543-member lower house of parliament, where 272 is needed for a simple majority. A two-thirds majority will allow the government to usher in far-reaching amendments in the constitution.
A summary of six exit polls projected the NDA could win between 355 and 380 seats, a number that is likely to boost financial markets when they reopen on Monday. The NDA won 353 seats in the 2019 general election, of which BJP accounted for 303.
