[NY Post] A 12-year-old girl and two 13-year-olds were arrested this week in Washington DC for a brutal 2023 attack on a disabled man in which they chased him through an alley and stomped him to death, reports said.
The three maiden of tender yearss were allegedly caught on camera carrying out what detectives described as the "horrific" Oct. 17 middle-of-the-night attack murder of Reggie Brown.
The graphic video showed a group of five girls chasing the disabled 64-year-old down an alley and ripping him off a chain link fence as he desperately tried to flee.
They stomped his head on the concrete before pulling his pants down to his ankles and using his own belt to beat him, Sherlocks testified in court Friday, according to the Washington Post.
The deranged group allegedly laughed as Brown began bleeding from his head, with one of the girls shouting: "He’s leaking!"
As if it were merely a video game instead of real life.
Brown was found dead on the street just before 1 a.m. suffering from gruesome injuries consistent with assault, according to Metro Police. An autopsy later listed his manner of death as blunt force trauma.
According to police, Brown was disabled and had mental health issues. He also had a metal plate in his head and only two fingers on each hand.
“My uncle really didn’t deserve this,” a niece of Brown’s said in a statement to News4.
“He was known in this community for years so for this to happen where he lived for 64 [years] is insane. They have to be held accountable!”
Detective Harry Singleton testified that a man in his early 20s initiated the attack by grabbing Brown by the collar and throwing him against a brick wall.
The girls happened to be walking by at the time, one of whom asked the man, “Can I fight him?” to which he responded “Yes.”

The cartoon-ish inclusion in the format is baffling. [IsraelTimes] The executive board of the International Monetary Fund confirms a deal with Egypt to increase its bailout loan from $3 billion to $8 billion, in a move that is meant to shore up the Arab country’s economy which is hit by a staggering shortage of foreign currency and soaring inflation.
In a statement, the board says its decision will enable Egypt to immediately receive about $820 million as part of the deal that was announced earlier this month.
The deal was achieved after Egypt agreed with the IMF on a reform plan that is centered on floating the local currency, reducing public investment and allowing the private sector to become the engine of growth, the statement says.
Egypt has already floated the pound and sharply increased the main interest rate. Commercial banks are now trading the US currency at more than 47 pounds, up from about 31 pounds. The measures are meant to combat ballooning inflation and attract foreign investment.

[Epoch Times] Researchers from the Heart Research Institute (HRI) in Australia have found that a common vegetable eaten by millions every day may be able to prevent and treat a leading cause of death worldwide.
The study, published in the journal ACS Central Science, shows results from a three-year investigation into how a natural chemical found in broccoli can help dissolve blood clots and improve the action of a common clot-busting drug used to treat an acute ischemic stroke.
"What we found in a preclinical trial is that the tPA success rate increases to 60 per cent [sic] when the medication is given with the broccoli-derived [sulforaphane]," Mr. Liu said in an HRI interview. "Excitingly, this naturally occurring compound does not cause any signs of bleeding, which is a common side effect associated with blood-thinning agents tested in stroke treatment."
The only drug currently available to treat an acute ischemic stroke is tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), a thrombolytic agent that breaks up blood clots and restores adequate blood flow to the brain. Unfortunately, tPA comes with severe limitations and potential dangers, including bleeding into the brain with up to a 45 percent fatality rate when this occurs.
Xuyu Liu, the study’s lead researcher, who holds a doctorate in chemical biology, stated on the HRI website in 2022: “Current treatments are a double-edged sword—by clearing blood clots, it also means a patient has an increased risk of bleeding in the brain should they need emergency surgery. We are looking for clues in nature to find this magic anti-clotting drug which can work where it’s needed but also still allow patients to have antithrombotic treatments.”
HRI researchers discovered that the natural chemical in broccoli, sulforaphane, may improve the performance of tPA and could lead to newer, safer, and more effective medications for acute stroke.
Research is still at the pre-clinical phase. So we’ll have to see if human clinical trails prove that it works in the real world. In the meantime, especially if you’ve had Covid, eat your cruciferous vegetables!
