As predicted. [JustTheNews] The Twin City buses were supposed to go 150 miles on a single charge, but the actual range was closer to 75 miles.
Minnesota cities worked to shift toward clean energy in public transit, but complications from acquired electric vehicles have prompted significant overhauls and additional expenditures to keep the buses operational.
In Duluth, Minn., technicians installed diesel-powered heaters on electric buses as the city's electric fleet struggled to perform. In 2015, the city received a $6.3 million federal grant, according to MinnPost, for seven battery-electric buses from Proterra, which were delivered in 2018.
Proterra, which went bankrupt in August, sold 550 buses. The company enjoyed outspoken support from the Biden administration, but the buses have given transit districts across the country extensive problems. Many of the buses, which were purchased with sizable federal grants, have broken down, and repairs have been slow going as a result of a lack of parts.
The Proterra buses in Duluth struggled to make it up steep hills and to keep riders warm in winter. Proterra technicians installed diesel-powered heaters on the buses and increased the battery capacity so they could handle steep hills and subzero temperatures, which degrade the performance of electric vehicles.
In the Twin Cities, meanwhile, the transit department received another $1.7 million federal grant for eight more electric buses from Canada-based New Flyer. The Twin City buses were supposed to go 150 miles on a single charge, but the actual range was closer to 75 miles. The buses further failed to meet 20% of their scheduled operating miles because of needed battery replacements. In 2021, the buses were out of service for most of the year because of charging station issues at the garage.
I am not happy that my tax money is being wasted on green fantasies in a very liberal state. If Minnesotans want to throw money away, I'd rather it be their own money.

[Breitbart] No, they'll be driving "New" ICE cars, cuz the current regime's gonna fail on their EV Mandates
On last Monday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s "Varney & Co.," Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said that he doubts "that Americans in 2050 are still going to be driving that old technology, that combustion technology that we inherited from the 20th century."
Buttigieg said, "[T]he share of EVs has been dramatically increasing every single year, and that’s continuing. Now, our goal is, by the end of this decade, to be about half-and-half. We think that that can and will happen. But what isn’t guaranteed is, first of all, is that EV revolution going to continue to be made in America? During the Trump administration, China really built a major advantage on EVs. But as somebody who comes from the industrial Midwest, sees how the auto industry creates so much by way of livelihoods where I come from and really around the country, I’m much more excited about the jobs being created on U.S. soil, and that doesn’t just happen. We’ve got to make sure that the U.S. leads the way as this technology changes. I don’t know a lot of people who think that Americans in 2050 are still going to be driving that old technology, that combustion technology that we inherited from the 20th century."
Host David Asman cut in to say, "Americans like it."
Buttigieg responded, "Well, no, you’re not going to meet a lot of people who ever go back after they’ve got electric, and I think that really tells you something. That shows you that the lower maintenance, the fact that it costs less to maintain, the fact that they break down [with] less frequency, and the cost savings that you get by not having to buy gas or diesel are I think why you almost never meet somebody who has an EV who says, I want to back to the old technology."

Just another typical Liberal 10 to 30 year out prediction, for a Headline and some $$$$$ for SIG cause.
My Prediction:
By 2050 they'll have passed a "The Useless Carbon Person Control Act".
That initially calls for the comfortable Gov. camp housing of seniors, to allow for their safety and better carbon & resource controls by seniors members of society.
Like all Federal Laws, it will be a toe in the door, to include other groups over the years.
Side Note: ☺ In 2050 Pete Buttigieg will be bumping 71 y/old. ☺
See the movie "Wild In The Streets" and remember the DC Liberals love to mimic Hollywood Movie themes.

With any luck, the gummint that pays Buttgig's pension won't exist either.

I was interested to note all gas stoves and gas-powered clothes dryers for sale just before Christmas. Clearly consumer resistance to Green marketing remains strong.
[Breitbart] State-Run Media kneels in obedience, gaslighting us all
Trying to gaslight us, anyway. It doesn’t sound like many are being fooled.
There was no Christmas cheer from President Joe Biden on Saturday as he demanded media outlets begin reporting on the economy "the right way" as he headed for his holiday break.
In passing remarks delivered before boarding the presidential helicopter, Biden backed the economy and ripped naysayers for the way it has been portrayed as something less than stellar on his watch.
"All good. Take a look. Start reporting it the right way," Biden said when asked about his economic outlook for 2024, according to a transcript released Sunday by the White House.
Biden’s standing with voters has struggled through 2023 with the economy under his leadership being a prime point of concern.
Critics argue wages haven’t kept up with inflation and that gas and grocery prices have a huge impact on how people feel.
As Breitbart News reported, a majority of voters disapprove of Biden’s sluggish economy based on some of those metrics, the top issue heading into the 2024 presidential election, a Quinnipiac University poll found last month.
