[MAIL] A business studies professor who wrote a 15-page theory on the Zodiac serial killer and posted about 'powerful organizations bent on global domination' shot-and-killed three people at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, police said.
The suspect, Anthony Polito, opened fire on the fourth floor of the Lee Business School at 11:45am, prompting a massive response from law enforcement. Around 20 minutes after their arrival, officers located the gunman, shooting him dead.
Officials say that Polito, 67, was armed with a pistol during the attack which began after his application for a professorship was rejected. Polito was on staff at East Carolina University in North Carolina between 2001 and 2017.
None of those who were killed were students. In addition to the three deceased people, another person was wounded and remains in critical condition.

Most university professors hate students - you try answering the same stupid questions, and listening to the same lame excuses, for years. But, using a gun seems extravagant.

Perhaps the UNLV was one of those organizations and they needed to silence the guy. For a paranoid he was a bit trusting.
Horrifying security camera footage has revealed the moment a man walking a 10-month-old in a stroller is decked by a stranger before the suspect drives away
The incident took place in the 4000 block of Lost Spring Road which is near the homes to stars such as Khloe and Kris Kardashian ...a nice neighbourhood in Los Angeles County, California...
The video was posted on a ring camera app known as 'Neighbors' by the homeowner where the brutal attacker parked before launching at his victim

When I was doing such things, and to an extent even now, when out with the kiddos, you'd think I were a crew member on a WWII bomber looking for Bogeys.
There was an instance at a gas station I was pulling diaper kit out of the trunk and noticed somebody who looking on a 2 day meth binge was on approach, I looked down, and saw I had my tomahawk in my hand and unsheathing. Fortunately he was just picking up some beer; probably to get some sleep.
[FoxNews] Police at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas responded Wednesday to an active shooter.

[Hot Air] Ibram X. Kendi (Ibram Henry Rodgers) has made a good living off of being a nasty racist.
Currently, he is the chief greenback arsonist at the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University and achieved that exalted rank by insulting White people to their great delight. Kendi’s path to wealth and power has been to treat White people as scum, and a certain class of Whites seem to enjoy being humiliated and insulted.
That’s not quite right. These White people enjoy seeing other Whites humiliated and insulted, believing themselves to be uniquely virtuous and above the sins that they see in their fellows. Kendi plays to their sense of superiority, inviting them into his circle with a wink and a nod; provided you praise Kendi as a genius with deep insight into Western culture, he will deign to allow you to flatter yourself.

The entire concept of 'humanity' was created by Western Civilization. Ignores what 'others' believed and acted upon towards those who weren't among their 'tribe' in the rest of the world.

In the Race-Grifting business, you need to sustain the outage and reaction, to get publicity and troll the timorous white people. Kendi is just another con working the angles in a target rich environment!
O God of our Fathers, We guard in our hearts today the sacred memory of those who gave their lives on that day which will live in infamy. Bless us, O Lord, as we humble ourselves in Thy presence to remember our shipmates and friends who served our country so valiantly.
[AFRICANEWS] Uganda staunchly criticized Wednesday (Dec. 06) the United States’ recent expansion of visa restrictions on its officials, interpreting this as an attempt by Washington to enforce an "LGBT agenda" in Africa.
These new sanctions unveiled earlier this week target Ugandan individuals who were not formally identified. According to the U.S., they are responsible for "undermining democracy and suppressing marginalized groups, including the LGBTQ community."
Henry Okello Oryem, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, insisted his country would not backpedal on the adoption of its bill.
He told the AFP that there was no doubt regarding the fact that "some groups in the U.S.A and in the West" seek to bring [Africans and Ugandans] "to accept same sex relations using aid and loans" as leverage.

Now we may begin to appreciate how greatly we benefited from the emanations and penumbras of deterrence and the magnitude of the mistake our leaders made in letting deterrence erode.

Remembering that time Trudeau's Canada went after foreigners for having an opinion on Canada's internal politics; even tried going after bank accounts of those people.
[THEGUARDIAN] Guyana has appealed for help from the United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... and the United States as the Venezuela ...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south... n president, Nicolás Maduro, announced a series of measures intended to advance its annexation of two-thirds of the tiny South American nation’s territory.
A man walks in front of a mural of the Venezuelan map with the Essequibo territory included, in Caracas, Venezuela, Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. Venezuelans will attempt to decide the future of the Essequibo territory, a large swath of land that is administered and controlled by Guyana but claimed by Venezuela, via a referendum that the Venezuelan government put forth in its latest attempt to claim ownership, saying it was stolen when a north-south border was drawn more than a century ago. ’Despotic’ Maduro accused of risking Venezuela-Guyana conflict over oil-rich region

"I have spoken to the secretary general of the United Nations and several leaders, alerting them of these dangerous developments and the desperate actions of President Maduro," Irfaan Ali, president of Guyana, said in a television broadcast late on Tuesday, as he informed the nation of 800,000 of Maduro’s latest steps intended to create a new Venezuelan state in Guyana.
Ali’s comments came after Maduro announced a series of measures to formalise a referendum on Sunday evening in which voters overwhelmingly backed plans to recognise the 160,000km2 oil-rich swath of Guyanese jungle as its own.
The Venezuelan president said he had ordered a law to be drafted recognising a new state — the Guayana-Esequiba — where the English-speaking residents would be given Venezuelan national ID cards. He also ordered national companies to begin mining and oil extraction operations in the resource-rich region, and for a special military unit to be created for the region, alarming observers and causing Brazil to send armoured vehicles to its border.

These efforts to prevent Venezuela from properly incorporating "Guyana" reeks of Trumpian state department colonial mentalities, such as they are. Also, Venezuelan food does exist, and tastes much better than America's attempted cuisine Taco Bell. You MAGidiots are smoking the wrong stuff when you claim grilled cheese nacho fries are authentic to Caracas.
[ZERO] Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says the United States would be "responsible for Ukraine's defeat" if Congress fails to approve the Biden administration's $106 billion request to fund the wars in Ukraine and Israel, among other security issues.
Yellen made the remarks Tuesday to reporters while on a trip to Mexico City, calling the funding "utterly essential" and as a pre-condition for the International Monetary Fund to keep funds flowing uninterrupted into Ukraine, according to Reuters.
"I've talked to members of Congress, my colleagues have. I think they understand this, that this is a dire situation and we can hold ourselves responsible for Ukraine's defeat if we don't manage to get this funding to Ukraine that's needed, and I'm including direct budget support here because that's utterly essential," Yellen said.
She issued the rebuke the same day that President Zelensky's chief of staff said something very similar before a security conference in D.C.
Ukraine aid will stop flowing in a matter of three weeks. Zelensky's chief of staff Andriy Yermak said the following words Tuesday:
[Washington Examiner] The number of job openings in the United States decreased to 8.7 million in October, the lowest that number has been in more than two years.
The new numbers, which include openings across all sectors for that month, were released as part of the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, which was updated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday. The decrease is notable and marks the lowest level of job openings since March 2021.
The monthly decline was much sharper than most economists had anticipated and could be a sign that the labor market is starting to soften a bit under the weight of the Federal Reserve’s high interest rate target. Still, there were some notable positives in the report, according to Nick Bunker, Indeed Hiring Lab’s director of economic research.
"While the number of job openings declined, hiring remained largely unchanged, a sign that the labor market isn’t falling off a cliff," he said. "A decline in openings without a spike in layoffs represents a relatively painless rebalancing between labor supply and labor demand. Yet hiring demand remains robust even with the large decline in October, and openings are up 22% from pre-pandemic levels."
"It is no longer a moderating labor market: It is a market that has moderated," Bunker added.
[NPR] WASHINGTON — The military announced late Wednesday it was grounding all of its Osprey V-22 helicopters, one week after eight Air Force Special Operations Command service members died in a crash off the coast of Japan.
The Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps took the extraordinary step of grounding hundreds of aircraft after a preliminary investigation of last week's crash indicated that a materiel failure — that something went wrong with the aircraft — and not a mistake by the crew led to the deaths.
The crash raised new questions about the safety of the Osprey, which has been involved in multiple fatal accidents over its relatively short time in service. Japan grounded its fleet of 14 Ospreys after the crash.
Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind, head of Air Force Special Operations Command, directed the standdown "to mitigate risk while the investigation continues," the command said in a statement. "Preliminary investigation information indicates a potential materiel failure caused the mishap, but the underlying cause of the failure is unknown at this time."
In a separate notice, Naval Air Systems Command said it was grounding all Ospreys. The command is responsible for the Marine Corps and Navy variants of the aircraft.
The Air Force said it was unknown how long the aircraft would be grounded. It said the standdown was expected to remain in place until the investigation determined the cause of the Japan crash and made recommendations to allow the fleet to return to operations.
In Japan, where U.S. military Ospreys had a non-fatal crash once and a number of incidents, the latest accident has rekindled safety concerns just as the Japanese government builds a new base for its fleet of Ospreys.

Back in the 90s GI Joe had an osprey that had jet engines. See the jet engines wouldn't strike the ground the way those long rotors tend to. Can any engineers out there tell me why jet engines wouldn't work on an Osprey? Is it fuel usage? Not enough thrust?
[WashingtonExaminer] Children who grow up in politically liberal households are more likely to suffer mental health problems than their conservative peers, according to a new study.
An Institute for Family Studies-Gallup report found that "political ideology is one of the strongest predictors" of which caregiving styles a parent adopts, and conservative parents are associated with the best mental health outcomes for their children. Living a lie is stressful?

^ Nope. That has a 100+ mile run from nowhere to nowhere with no real ridership, courtesy of the Dem lies to get it on the ballot. The Vegas train stops at Victorville under current plans.

Haven't seen a proposed route map, but that would be tricky at best.

a major difficulty is to get from LA to central San Bernadino county requires using a relatively low capacity commuter rail
the capacity of the proposed service from Victorville to Vegas is about 50 times the capacity of the commuter rail

So if you assume time for the drive to Union Station in L.A., parking, checking in your luggage, and boarding, and getting your baggage and rental car in Las Vegas, Jojo is spending 3-6 BILLION tax dollars for people who make the trip to save an hour of travel time.
