Don’t know if any of you recall ex-lib, but she fought hard on the boards here (especially during the "Antiwar" troll times) — quite the firebrand. The past decade was a trip for us, and then she up and unexpectedly died last year. I wasn't able to pull it together enough to post something last year — I was and still am pretty gutted. Cliche, but she truly was my better half . . .
I know ex-lib would appreciate your remembrances now. This is a bittersweet day for me — what would have been ex-lib's 66th birthday. This also is the jubilee of her accepting my marriage proposal. . . . I miss her terribly.

I miss her. She was very smart, very witty, a very fine lady. We can only mourn with you.

Thanks, Fred. It's been a trip. Didn't have her dying so soon on my life's dance card.
Still, she'd be freaking out about right now, given the world's slow motion train wreck, which she had noticed headed this way long before me . . . They say God sometimes takes people to spare them 🤔
Better me dealing with the temporal parting, rather than her. She paid her dues.
Please know she adored you and this site. I know her posting dried up after the baby came in 2007, but she was ever peeking in as she could.

I’m so sorry, cingold. I adored ex-lib, and always read her comments carefully. Is there somewhere we could donate to in her memory, if anyone is so moved?
#7 Hey .com, does this Islamo-bumble shoot down the "highly educated" theory of AzCat, who dissed my assertion (on Monday) that some of these guys are just uneducated idiots played by the higher-ups? Or is this as good as "highly educated" suicide bombers get? Wonder what you think. BTW, wasn't playing the "pity card" on the Islamofacists, just remembering all the reports of young, uneducated dumb-asses being set up, and of even educated dumb-asses being set up to suicide bomb unknowingly, by their "superiors."

There is lots more, if only I knew how to search comments — when one of our clever programming types tells us what to do, it will be our small gift in return for the reflections you share in your link.
As the Jews say:
May the All-Merciful One shelter ex-lib with the cover of His wings forever, and bind her soul in the bond of life. The Lord is her heritage; may she rest in her resting-place in peace.

Thanks Trailing Wife. She really loved you too, her battle-buddy. I'd love any of her writing on Rantburg you could send my way. I've been scouring her computer to savor her words, and need more of her sharp retorts, LOL.
FYI, she got perma-banned on Twitter (@IngoldIsrael, after which she ran with @OfProtocols). I finally got @IngoldIsrael unbanned posthumously during the "Elon pardons." Post 10-7-2023, it was briefly resuspended (hey, I was just posting what I knew she would have 🤣), but I relented and deleted the tweet . . .
Re donations . . . she loved Rabbi Tuly Weisz, and he seems the mensch (https://www.israel365.com) and does good, practical things.
Thank you for the blessings. I find great solace in the Almighty, Adonai melekh ha'olam of vengeance and mercy. Still, it is so much easier for me to assent to and say "Baruch Dayan ha'emet" than it is to actually live it out and truly mean it. Working on that.
Our tragedies will, I think, only make sense from the vantage point of eternity, when the Almighty wipes the tears off every face, and removes the shame of His people. Yeshayahu 25:8. His ways and thoughts are beyond our present comprehension. Yeshayahu 55:8-9.

Amen, Besoeker. Thanks for the reminder. Truly.

But, I'm a pig 🐷 . . . I had forty years of her sweet company, and that was (for me) just an appetizer. No one could humble (or exalt) me like she could, and I'm pretty lost without her. Good thing she watches over and prays for me . . . as I need her help more than ever . . .
I warned her that if she ever died before me, I'd haunt her the rest of MY life. Keepin' my word, LOL

So many good posters are gone here. Thoughts are with you!

Hi Frank. Thanks.
Dotcom, Zenster, etc., all missed.
Glad to see Ex-Lib remembered. I wish I had a fraction of her ability to write.
She once almost caused a riot at CSU with a short letter to the editor (writing under pseudonym, since he'd banned her, LOL). It took someone from the English Department to tamp things down by pointing out the "Modest Proposal" (Jonathan Swift) type rhetoric employed.
As king David once said, "They ain't coming back at this point, but we're gonna join them soon enough." 2 Samuel 12:23 (the really bad paraphrase version).

Cingold, I have missed her's and your comments. You have my sympathies. I, too know the pain of losing a spouse. May God comfort you.

Thanks Deacon Blues. From 2007 to now has been chock full of crazy; so, posting turned to peeking . . . But, peek we would, and you and the others we peeked in on let us know that at least part of the world was still sane 😀 You kept us grounded.
My most somber and sincere condolences on your loss. I had no idea the heart could break so deeply as when "flesh of my flesh" is torn asunder. If I hadn't found Lewis' "A Grief Observed," I don't think I'd have made it this far. I'm much less than half the man I used to be.
There have been numerous stories of people who support Palestine ripping down the posters of people who were taken by Hamas
Fox News host and commentator, Watters stopped the show cold as they discussed another instance of tearing down posters Wednesday
'We've had it. We've had it with them,' Watters declared, calling the Middle East 'that stupid desert' that presidents dating back to Biden have tried to 'get out of'

[REGNUM] Events surrounding the Ukrainian and Palestinian-Israeli conflicts are closely intertwined and reveal the latest stage of erosion of the rules-based world order. What did this mean?
[Bee] If you listen closely, they will tell you the truth
GAZA — Members of the media remain unsure of the motivation behind Hamas' violent attacks against Israel, with a reporter on the scene left speculating while Hamas terrorists held up a banner behind her with "EXTERMINATE THE JEWS FROM EXISTENCE" written boldly in all-caps.
"Their motives and goals remain a mystery," the reporter stated as the Hamas terrorist waved the banner in the background. "Are they seeking full Palestinian statehood and sovereignty? Are they hoping to improve the lives of the civilians under their charge? Do they want Taylor Swift tickets? Sadly, we may, in fact, never know what it is they truly want."
As hostilities continue to intensify between Israel and Hamas, along with threats from surrounding Arab countries, the mainstream media has been on a never-ending quest to discover what it is Hamas is after. "We want Israel destroyed and all Jews dead," said one terrorist matter-of-factly. "We are hell-bent on doing whatever we have to do for however long we have to do it to completely eradicate all Jewish people and their memory from the face of the earth."
"Stop being so coy and tell the public what it is you're after," the reporter pressed. "The world deserves to have you be forthright and honest about your motivations here. As an investigative journalist, I'm going to get to the bottom of this."
At publishing time, the reporter was wondering if perhaps there was anything besides the Hamas charter and thousands of public statements by Hamas that could help illuminate their true goals.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets
Russian bloggers are sure acting like idiots when it comes to Israeli's right to self defense.
You know it isn’t fair for the Juices to defend themselves. Mark Twain observed it when he visited the Ottoman Sultanate over a century ago. One doesn’t expect Christian Russians to follow the lead of Moslems, but The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was published at about the same time.
Should American press secretaries begin their press conferences by reviewing the news for their press secretaries so that they do not lack information?
It seems to me that the sign language interpreter answered everything honestly, with facial expressions and gestures, to the Pentagon representative’s comment about Israel’s attack on the Jebali Palestinian refugee camp:
Earlier, IDF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht confirmed that Israel struck the Palestinian camp to allegedly destroy one of the commanders of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas.
As Al Hadath TV channel reported, the number of dead and wounded due to a series of Israeli Air Force strikes on Jebaliya exceeded 400. That's all. And no problems. 400 civilian refugees against 1 commander. If he was even there. And no sanctions, trials or exclusion from the Olympics. A wonderful world "based on rules."
This is classic chutzpah. That is, super-arrogance, super-obsession, which is beyond the understanding of normal people who don’t understand how one can lie so openly and brazenly. In face. Not at all embarrassed. When just in a similar situation you said exactly the opposite.
If, in front of this press secretary, a representative of an “exceptional” and “God’s chosen” nation kills a child, then this press secretary will still talk about the “lack of” information. However, as we notice, everything related to Russia, Iran, North Korea, China and a number of others does not require any additional information. The verdict will be instant - “Guilty”! Even if it is later confirmed one hundred percent that the accusation is wrong.
How is this useful to us? Because there is nothing to listen to their babble at all. You can't trust a word about anything. They will only perceive the language of force when they perceive a real threat to themselves. We need to mind our own business, and perceive these people as incompetent and insane. Not a single document signed with them is worth anything.
P.S.
The girl who asked the question should have chosen the wording differently, asked: “Are deliberate and targeted attacks on refugees in military conflicts a war crime?” If the defender places non combatants in a zone knowing it will be attacked by their enemy certainly is a war crime, by the defenders. Them's the rules.
The Russian ministry of defense well knows theses rules when it comes to their own actions..
