Resident witnesses in Billings, Montana, saw an 'explosion in the sky' after US officials warned of a Chinese spy balloon flying over the region
Video of the aftermath reveals a trail of smoke in the sky where the balloon was
US officials called the balloon a 'clear violation of sovereignty' while warning that it wouldn't be shot down because it was hovering over 'sensitive sites'

Seems to me, a single cannon round would puncture the balloon causing it to descend to earth where we would surreptitiously examine it and then return the lost property to its Chinese owners. Extra points for catching the descending balloon mid-air.
While en route to and from who knows where,
"[blink] Balloon Disappeared in Midair!"
But returned pretty soon
When it rose on 4 June
Like full moon over Tiananmen Square.

Citizen Free Press has a link to a Forbes article on why its almost impossible to down a high altitude balloon. Any smart guys have a sense of how accurate it is?
I still remain curious about the Canadian sighting observation of a second balloon on the same general track and how it might fit into this report.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] President Joe Biden is planning to shoot down the Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic so that it can be captured and studied, a senior source has revealed.
The aircraft was tracking towards the Carolinas this morning and is due to exit the east coast by noon after passing over a sensitive nuclear missile site in Montana dubbed America's 'Doomsday Base'.
The White House decided against shooting the balloon down over US soil over fears for American lives and sparking an international incident, a senior US official said.
It was not the first time Chinese surveillance balloons have been tracked over US territory, including at least once during former president Donald Trump's administration, officials said.

Xi has instructed Biden to assist in the recovery and return of the balloon and instruments to the Chinese mainland.

Well, by then, it's mission will be over, so, of course. OTOH, I sure hope in the technical offices of the NSA and DoD, where a more apolitical breed of egghead might exist, there's a lot of ELINT collection going on. Signature characterization, types of encryption, etc.

It appears it in on track to pass over the Georgia area of the third silo cluster of ICBMs. Will we monitor if a chinese submarine picks up the parachuted electronics package out in the Atlantic?
Just guessing of course....

This all sounds so stupid that there must be something else going on that is beyond my comprehension.
Yes, I understand it may be difficult for some people to comprehend Joe Biden selling his ass to Xi Jinping.

Wouldn't that be something.

There aren't any ICBM silos in Georgia, but since the damned thing was tracked over Charlotte NC, it had a good look at 9AFHQ at Shaw AFB SC, and the Trident sub base at Kings' Bay, GA.
Which means it pretty much flew over my home.

When I watched an interview yesterday the retired 3 button mentioned Kings Bay in the context of the other ICBM silo clusters, so I just assumed it was also the same. Didn't know Kings Bay as a Trident Base, but the Trifecta of observation he talked about still remains valid. Thanks for the correction!

Biden just said he told the military to shoot it down on Wednesday, and they advised to wait until it was over a safe location to avoid risk to people on the ground. In other words, 2 days after it had entered US airspace and was over Montana. Most significantly, it was after the news reports revealed it was there. A POLITICAL decision, based on adverse news coverage, not national security or national sovereignty. He is too f*cking stupid to realize what he just confirmed in his attemp to seem decisive and tough.

Now, Rubio chimes in with "this isn't the first one (balloon) and they get the same spy data other ways too."
He does not weigh in on whether this is a problem for the US.

US ICBM site being mapped by the balloon will be in the first set of targets China will strike to neutralize US capabilities during a conflict. (Like Japan tried to do at Pearl Harbor WWII). They now have those maps.
[Daily Caller] China’s military received instructions to prepare for an invasion of Taiwan by 2027, CIA Director William Burns revealed Thursday.
"We know as a matter of intelligence he has instructed the People’s Liberation Army to be ready by 2027 to conduct a successful invasion," Burns said in Fox News. The CIA chief made the remark at a Georgetown University event Thursday, where he warned listeners not to "underestimate President Xi’s ambitions with regard to Taiwan." A recent prediction shared by US Air Force General Mike Minihan has the U.S. face-to-face with China in 2025, according to a memo distributed to subordinates on January 27. The four-star general instructed officers to undertake preparations for the likelihood of war with China.

[AlAhram] Pakistain has threatened to ban Wikipedia if it does not remove "blasphemous content" from its website by Friday, the latest censorship warning in the deeply conservative country.
Social media giants Facebook and YouTube have been blocked in the past over content deemed blasphemous, a hugely sensitive issue in Moslem-majority Pakistain.
The Pakistain Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday said the website had until late Friday to heed the warning, without elaborating on the content in question.
In the meantime, Wikipedia would be "degraded", disrupting and slowing access to the free online encyclopedia, which gets billions of views each month.
"Given the intentional failure on part of the platform to comply with the directions of PTA, the services of Wikipedia have been degraded for 48 hours with the direction to block/remove the reported contents," the notice said.
"In case of non-compliance by Wikipedia, the platform will be blocked within Pakistain."
The website has previously faced restrictions on some of its pages.
Freedom of speech advocates has long criticized what they say is creeping government censorship and control of Pakistain's internet and printed and electronic media.
"The ban is disproportionate, unconstitutional, and quite ridiculous," said Osama Khilji, a digital rights activist muppet.
"This will impact students, academia, the healthcare sector, researchers, and downgrade investor confidence in Pakistain due to the uncertainty and arbitrariness of censorship," he added.
Wikipedia did not immediately respond to a request for comment from AFP.
Pakistain blocked YouTube from 2012 to 2016 after it carried a film about the Prophet Mohammed that led to violent mostly peaceful protests across the Moslem world.
In recent years, the country has also blocked the wildly popular video-sharing app TikTok several times over "indecent" and "immoral" content.

[PJMedia] Whether or not to take a COVID vaccine and multiple boosters is a decision best left to individuals, who can assess their own risks and potential benefits better than any hamfisted government or corporate mandate ever could.
But a new study published last month by the National Institutes for Health suggests "a protective role" for a tiny yellow pill that costs almost nothing.
Before we go on, understand that I’m one of those crazy million-supplements-a-day people. We’ll get to that in a second, but first, let’s look at the science behind vitamin D and COVID.
You can buy a year’s worth of vitamin D supplements for about $12 on Amazon. January’s NIH meta-analysis shows that taking it "results in a decreased risk of death and ICU admission."
It would be fair to note that a lot of people (including Yours Truly and actual doctors and scientists) have touted the benefits of vitamin D for a long time. But this is the first time I’m aware of that the NIH has published a study of this size regarding COVID and vitamin D’s "beneficial effect in preventing acute respiratory infections and reducing their complications."
"Regarding ICU admission," the study continues, "Figure 2 shows a strong association between vitamin D interventions and protective effect on ICU admission."
In addition, "Figure 3 shows a significant protective effect of vitamin D administration on mortality."

[Breitbart] At the World Economic Forum, the annual gathering of globalist elites in Davos, Switzerland, a presentation hyped brain wave monitoring technology to allow employers to detect how hard their employees are working, whether they get distracted, and even if they have "amorous feelings" for coworkers.
"You can not only tell whether a person is paying attention or their mind is wandering, but you can discriminate between the kinds of things they are paying attention to," gushed the presenter. "Whether they’re doing something like central tasks, like programming, peripheral tasks like writing documentation, or unrelated tasks like surfing social media or online browsing.
"When you combine brain-wave activity together with other forms of software and surveillance technology, the power becomes quite precise."
At the Davos event titled "Are you ready for brain transparency?" The WEF speaker explained how brain-wave data collected by your ear pods will be used by your boss to make you "more productive" and help government authorities "fight crime" (link embedded) h/t @peopleconspire pic.twitter.com/7eJkjY8fBQ
— Jeremy Loffredo (@loffredojeremy) January 29, 2023
A short video imagined a workplace of the future, in which an employee worries about her employer detecting "amorous feelings" for a coworker by reading her brain-wave data, but is pleasantly surprised when she gets a performance bonus for good "brain metrics" showing her productivity.
In the next scene, the government subpoenas employees’ brainwave data to find co-conspirators in a wire fraud scheme in the office.
"You discover they are looking for synchronized brain activity between your coworker and the people he has been working with. While you know you’re innocent of any crime, you’ve been secretly working with him on a new start-up venture. Shaking, you remove your earbuds."
Say Clarence, would you be interested in participating in a classified off-shore 'job site' DARPA experiment? A non-disclosure statement will obviously be required. A generous financial stipend is also anticipated. Get back to me sometime next week please.

It is useless technology. You could discipline or fire a worker based on brain waves. Try overcoming that on your Indeed comments. Might be useful to determine when Jim might need a cup of coffee or when it would be good to keep all women away from Dave. Not stuff that will justify the purchase.

Identical size and weight boxes...:Pfui!: In the Real World they would have been palletized. Also in the Real World parcels come in multiple sizes and weights ...Pro-Tip: do not stack the heavy machine part box that is the size of a bread loaf on the large box of foam flowers (it will hammer its way through the other box in transit!).

Having to deal with UPS and Fed Ex parcel trucks at Amazon I wouldn't mind this at all. You don't know how much fun it is when management says we're going 100% parcel to bring up the receivers rates!!
Anyway yes I want to see a REAL parcel trailer unloaded by this thing. As was said you xhoukdn't put heavy things on top but there always is. I think the person loading the trailer does it on purpose. To many axes, sledge hammers, brake rotors have I almost been hit by while moving a box from the top of the wall/
Just wondering if they can make it shake its little head and make sad robot noises when the the door to the trailer opens.
