Good use for a wood chipper.
[FoxNews] New York has become the sixth state in the United States to legalize natural organic reduction, popularly known as human composting, as a method of burial.
Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the legislation on Saturday. Washington was the first state to legalize human composting in 2019, followed by Colorado and Oregon in 2021 and Vermont and California in 2022.
"I am committed to having my body composted and my family knows that," Howard Fischer, a 63-year-old investor living north of New York City, told The Associated Press. "Whatever my family chooses to do with the compost after it’s done is up to them."
The alternative, green method of burial aligns with Fischer's philosophical view on life: to live in an environmentally conscious way.
The process involves the body of the deceased being placed into a reusable vessel, along with plant material such as wood chips, alfalfa and straw. The organic mix creates the perfect habitat for naturally occurring microbes to do their work, quickly and efficiently breaking down the body in about a month’s time.
No earthworms? But earthworms make the soil richer. Who cares if being chewed up by worms is really icky — it’s for the earth, and you’ll already be dead anyway.
The end result is a cubic yard stack of nutrient-dense soil amendment, the equivalent of about 36 bags of soil, that can be used to plant trees or enrich conservation land, forests or gardens. For urban areas such as New York City where land is limited, it can be seen as a pretty attractive burial alternative.
Alternatives must be found now that they’re busily outlawing petroleum-based fertilizers.
Even though human composting is now legal in The Empire State, not everyone is on board with the idea.
"A process that is perfectly appropriate for returning vegetable trimmings to the earth is not necessarily appropriate for human bodies," Dennis Poust, executive director of the New York State Catholic Conference, said in a statement. "Human bodies are not household waste, and we do not believe that the process meets the standard of reverent treatment of our earthly remains."
"Cremation uses fossil fuels and burial uses a lot of land and has a carbon footprint," Katrina Spade, the founder of Recompose, a full-service green funeral home in Seattle that offers human composting, said. "For a lot of folks being turned into soil that can be turned to grow into a garden or tree is pretty impactful."

Given all the things that have happened to the West Coast & Northern Calif., What it ends up being (so far) is a flush job, that will need a lot more flushes to finish the job.

Any sort of count on totaled EVs, hybrid vehicles yet due to flooding? Traditional vehicles can tolerate some fresh water intrusion but once the electric bits get wet, that may be lights out.
At least that will relieve some of next summer’s electricity brown outs if more teslas are scrapped.
[Gateway] The Durham Police Department has confirmed that eight sudden deaths were among the 329 reported events they received on Christmas Day in Durham, England.
According to BBC, none of the deaths are believed to be suspicious.
These fatalities are being described as extremely frightening in a video that is currently circulating online, claiming that usually, the average sudden death is less than 1 per week.
"So first of all, tragic news, Christmas day, there were eight sudden deaths in county Durham," a man said in a video. "Eight sudden deaths on Christmas day."
"There are extremely ridiculous amount of people that are just dying suddenly. But somebody’s [requested] a freedom of information request in (FOIA). They want to know how many people. So this is on the government’s website. And they want to know police supply the number of fatalities resulting in sudden deaths during the last five years. So what is how many people normally on an average year die suddenly?"
According to the data from the government website, the total for sudden cardiac deaths for the last five years is as follows: 58 (20216), 43 (2017), 31 (2018), 43 (2019), and 44 (2020).
"So we say that’s about an average. 40 a year, that’s less than one a week. On Christmas day, we have eight," he continued.
"We are seeing celebrities just dropping dead. Radio hosts are dropping dead while doing the radio show. Artists are dying on stage. At the world cup, three presenters died. You must see this yourself now. Another one’s just dropped dead suddenly, another one dies suddenly, and another one unexplained death. At the moment, the UK is seeing 1500 excess deaths a week.
Most of them are coming from heart conditions and they are dying suddenly," he added.

The next step to this will be a rumor that politicians received modified shots or water. I don’t think it will be true, but as people realize that the shots are potentially harmful, society will begin to demand answers and not everyone in society is polite or rational. I don’t think there were modified shots because too many high profile people have bitten it. Also Biden and Fauci have gotten Covid about 8 times each.

If Biden and Tony Science really did have covid, then maybe they really did get the gene therapy vaccine and associated boosters. And I bet they were "grateful" they did. Throw in this bag, too:
[BBC] Described as "almost Shakespearean" by the LA Times, the gentle UK comedy about metal detecting has wowed audiences worldwide. What's the secret of its success, asks Neil Armstrong.
The Danebury Metal Detecting Club is not an exclusive organisation. On the contrary, new members are welcomed with open arms. Yet it remains a small group. There's club president Terry Seymour, probably one of the leading experts on the buttons of North West Essex. There's Louise, who can be pretty loud, and her girlfriend Varde, usually very quiet. There's "young" Hugh (actually in his 30s), sarcastic Russell — and Andy and Lance.
[An Nahar] Kim Jong Un has called for an "exponential" increase in North Korea's nuclear arsenal, including mass producing tactical nuclear weapons and developing new missiles for nuclear counterstrikes, state media said Sunday.
In a report at the end of a key party meeting in Pyongyang, Kim said the country must "overwhelmingly beef up the military muscle" in 2023 in response to what it called US and South Korean hostility, the official KCNA reported.
Claiming that Washington and Seoul were set on "isolating and stifling" the North, Kim said his country would focus on the "mass-producing of tactical nuclear weapons" and develop "another ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) system whose main mission is quick nuclear counterstrike".
Such goals form the "main orientation" of the 2023 nuclear and defence strategy, the report said.
Military tensions on the Korean peninsula rose sharply in 2022 as the North conducted sanctions-busting weapons tests nearly every month, including firing its most advanced ICBM ever.
It capped the record-breaking year of launches by firing three short range ballistic missiles early Saturday, and conducting another rare late-night launch at 2:50 am (1750 GMT Saturday) on Sunday, Seoul's military said.
The official KCNA reported Sunday that the launches had been "a test-fire of the super-large multiple rocket launchers".
In a separate KCNA report, Kim said the weapons put South Korea "as a whole within the range of strike and (were) capable of carrying (a) tactical nuclear warhead".
North Korea was emphasising "the possibility of actual action", said Yang Moo-jin, professor at Seoul's University of North Korean Studies.
"North Korea is signalling a tactical shift of indirectly pressuring the United States by pressuring South Korea and escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula starting this year."
Seoul's defence ministry called North Korea's latest threats "provocative rhetoric that seriously damages the peace and stability on the Korean peninsula" and urged Pyongyang to immediately give up its nuclear programmes.
"We sternly warn that if North Korea attempts to use nuclear weapons, the Kim Jong Un regime will face an end," the ministry added in a statement.
The launches come just days after Seoul scrambled fighter jets as five North Korean drones made an incursion into the South's airspace Monday.

Maybe work on getting lightbulbs first. Infrastructure is a good step towards any exponential increase of a nuclear arsenal. A good next step would be feeding your people. Your next great scientist may never reach his potential if he only eats tree bark.
