[IsraelTimes] Lars Vilks, 75, who received death threats for drawing the Prophet with a dog’s body, was reported killed when a truck hit the car he was traveling in with 2 police escorts.
The Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who had lived under police protection since his 2007 sketch of the Prophet Muhammad with a dog’s body brought death threats, died from a traffic accident Sunday, Swedish news media reported.
The accident reportedly involved a truck colliding with a civilian police car in which Lars Vilks and his police protection were traveling, news media said.
The Swedish news agency TT said police had confirmed that Vilks, 75, was traveling in the car with two coppers, and the newspaper Dagens Nyheter said the artist’s partner confirmed his death.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
Vilks was largely unknown outside Sweden before his Muhammad drawing. At home, he was best known for building a sculpture made of driftwood in a nature reserve in southern Sweden without permission, triggering a lengthy legal battle. He was fined, but the seaside sculpture — a jumble of wood nailed together in chaotic fashion — draws tens of thousands of visitors a year.
Vilks’ life changed radically 13 years ago after he drew a sketch of Muhammad with a dog’s body. Dogs are considered unclean by conservative Moslems, and Islamic law generally opposes any depiction of the prophet, even favorable, for fear it could lead to idolatry.
Al-Qaeda put a bounty on Vilks’ head. In 2010, two men tried to burn down his house in southern Sweden. Last year, a woman from Pennsylvania pleaded guilty in a plot to try to kill him.

Persson said the police car, which was being driven by one of the bodyguards, had left Stockholm and was heading south when it veered into the path of the truck.
That sounds a might suspicious. Do we know anything about the police driver?
I would wait a bit and see if anyone takes credit for it.

[ToloNews] The Ministry of Information and Culture denied reports of Chinese forces at Bagram base in Parwan.
A member of the cultural commission of the ministry, Omar Mansor, said: "There are no foreign troops currently in Afghanistan, including Chinese." "These are not the droids you're looking for"
Residents in Bagram said that the lights of the base were seen on Saturday night, which is a first since US troops left the base.
Mansor said that the lights were switched on by forces related to the Islamic Emirate.
Shamshad, a resident of Bagram district, said: "The lights were switched on again at Bagram air force base. There were some voices heard at the base. An airplane has also been seen there."
There was speculation about the alleged presence of Chinese troops at Bagram base.
Regarding whether Chinese forces are at Bagram or not, Sayed Ishaq Gailani, leader of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan, said: "I don’t think so, because the Islamic Emirate shouldn’t repeat the mistakes of predecessors ...".
US former president Donald Trump ...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election... said that following the withdrawal of foreign forces China had received access to the US military equipment in Afghanistan.
[KhaamaPress] Officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan say that they have begun the relocation process of thousands of Internally Displaced People from Kabul to their respective provinces on Saturday, October 2.
Over two thousand families were displaced mainly from the Northern provinces of Afghanistan after conflicts intensified between the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... and the security forces of the previous Afghan government.
They were settled in the parks of Kabul along with their children for more than two months.
Head of refugees and returnees of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Abdul Matin Rahimzay said that 1,005 displaces families from Shahr-e-Naw Park in Kabul have been relocated in collaboration with different aid agencies.
Previously, the UNHCR had warned humanitarian crisis if not addressed the problems of IDPs as winter is approaching.
On the other hand, the IEA also distributed humanitarian aid to the people displaced in Kabul.
According to the statistics of UNHCR, around 300,000 people have been forced to displace due to heavy conflicts in 2020.
not very similar; the Genocide in Cambodia was many orders of magnitude greater than what we have seen so far in Afghanistan; in Cambodia in the 70s, about 20-25% of the population was exterminated, about 2 million
it is doubtful whether another moslem nation would want to step into Afghanistan - the USA begged moslem nations like for help back in the early 2000s and got only several hundred, maybe a thousand out of it

Perfectly understandable, if your goal is Allah and illiteracy, both of which go hand in hand.
[REGNUM] At least 95 percent of bookstores, publishing houses and libraries have closed in the past two months in Kabul. This was reported on October 3 by the TOLOnews TV channel.
The reason for the closure was the difficult economic situation in Afghanistan. According to the organizers of book fairs, the number of buyers decreased by 90 percent in the capital, in the regions this figure may be even higher.
"People who simply do not have the means to buy bread and clothes have no time for books now," said Said Ahmad Said, president of the Association of Afghan Publishers .
Afghan poet and writer Javid Farhad described the current situation as a huge catastrophe for the country's development.
Before the radical Taliban movement (an organization banned in the Russian Federation) came to power in the country, 90 publishing houses and 280 bookstores operated in Kabul alone. In total, there were 180 publishing houses and 525 bookstores in the country.
Earlier, IA REGNUM reported that the Taliban called on Turkey to take part in projects for the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan.
[KhaamaPress] National Association of Journalists in Kabul said that due to financial problems, 70 percent of media outlets stopped working in Afghanistan since the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... took over the country.
The national association of journalists in a presser in Kabul on Sunday, October 03 said that they found the statistics after conducting an online survey in 28 provinces of Afghanistan.
They said that 1,500 Afghan journalists had taken part in the survey.
As per the statistics of the organization, 67% of the Afghan journalists have lost their jobs and 33% of them are busy working under acute pressure and in tough situations.
The Head of the national association of journalists said Masroor Lutfi said that most of the Afghan media that are active are confronting dire economic and financial situations.
"40% of the Afghan journalists are worried about their safety in Afghanistan and rest of them living a difficult life as they have lost their jobs." Said Lutfi.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Libyan Foreign Minister Najla al-Mangoush on Sunday announced a "very modest start" to the withdrawal of imported muscle from the war-torn North African country.
Oil-rich Libya is seeking to emerge from a decade of chaos since the 2011 fall of Muammar Qadaffy ...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland... ’s regime, a period marked by bloody violence involving militias, imported muscle and Death Eater groups.
The United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... estimates 20,000 mercenaries and imported muscle are deployed in the country, including Russians from the private security company Wagner, Chadians, Sudanese and Syrians.
"The news is true... It’s a very modest start," Mangoush told a news conference in Kuwait City in response to a question on the pullout of foreign forces.
Libyan authorities are "aiming for the departure of a larger number," she said, and to implement "a larger, more comprehensive" departure strategy.
"That is what we will try to achieve during the conference on Libyan stability at the end of this month," she added, referring to a meeting announced by Libya’s presidential council chief Mohammed al-Manfi.
Mangoush did not specify the number of imported muscle that had already left the country.
The UN, Libya and several other countries have repeatedly called for the departure of foreign forces from Libyan soil.
Following a 2020 ceasefire deal, a unified Libyan transitional government was formed earlier this year under UN auspices, with the aim of leading the country to elections scheduled for December 24.
But thorny negotiations over electoral laws have placed growing doubts over the process.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... will hold joint military drills with Azerbaijan this week in a region bordering Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... after Baku’s government criticized Tehran for staging army exercises near its border.
"The Steadfast Brotherhood-2021 drill will take place with the participation of Turkey and Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan between 5-8 October," a spokeswoman for Turkey’s Ministry of Defense said on Sunday.
Iran’s army began on Friday military exercises near its border with Azerbaijan amid Tehran’s skepticism of Baku’s ties with the West in general and Israel specifically. Artillery, drones and helicopters participated in Iran’s drills.
"We do not tolerate the presence and activity against our national security of... Israel, next to our borders. And we will carry out any necessary action in this regard." Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said.
Azerbaijan and Israel have strengthened their military alliance in recent months, with Israeli-supplied high-tech drones helping Azerbaijan in its conflict with Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region last year.
Iran alleged that during the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict last year, ISIS snuffies were brought into the region.
"The overt and covert presence of [Israel's] proxies and the possibility of a significant number of ISIS bully boyz in regional countries add to the importance of this exercise," Iranian Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari said.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... warned Greece that acts of "provocation" in the Aegean Sea between the two nations won’t go unanswered.
Speaking to a group of news hounds on Sunday, Defense Ministry spokeswoman Pinar Kara accused Greece of "unlawful, provocative and aggressive action" in the Aegean.
Military drills around Greece’s Chios Island in the North Aegean, which at its closest point is only about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the Ottoman Turkish coast, and a scientific research vessel that entered contested waters are the most recent provocations, she said.
Turkey and Greece, both NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... members, have been at odds for decades over contested territorial waters in the Aegean Sea. Athens and Ankara are also in conflict over the future of divided Cyprus.
Turkey "continues to defend its rights and interest over our seas with determination," Kara said. "Our navy, armed forces and air forces have orders in this respect," she said, without specifying what the orders were.
In response to Greece, Turkey has announced live-fire drills in the Aegean Sea for Oct. 5 and naval drills in the Mediterranean through Oct. 5.

[Rudaw] Iraq’s electoral commission on Friday cancelled its endorsement of a prominent Sunni candidate accused of "praising" the normalization of ties with Israel. The decision was made a week after a US organization hosted a conference in Erbil to discuss opening ties with Israel.
The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) excluded Haidar al-Mulla from the October 10 election after he used "obscene expressions" and "praised" the normalization of ties with Israel in a leaked audio recording, read a statement from the commission. Votes cast for Mulla will not be counted.
Mulla has been "attacking the political system in Iraq since 2003," the commission added.
Mulla is a well-known figure from the Taqadum Alliance, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi. The complaint against him originated from Taqadum’s main rival, the Azm Alliance. They are both looking to dominate the Sunni areas of Iraq. Taqadum has a total of 150 candidates while Azm has 124 across the country.
Mulla has three days to appeal to the decision, according to IHEC.
The spokesperson for Taqadum said the complaint against Mulla was politically motivated and his exclusion from the election is "targeting the influential figures and candidates of Taqadum Alliance who we think will win," Saud Mashhadani told Rudaw.
Mulla is a lawyer and served in the Iraqi parliament between 2010 and 2014.
"The decision is subject to appeal," he said in a Facebook video shared late Friday night.
Iraqis will go to the polls on October 10.
Support for opening up ties with Israel is a contentious topic in Iraq, after a conference last week put on by the New York-based Center for Peace and Communication in Erbil about normalizing ties with Israel. It was attended by about 300 Sunnis and Shiites. The meeting and its call for diplomatic relations with Israel was slammed by the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Iraqi government and several Shiite figures. Warrants have been issued for attendees. A key speaker at the conference has said he was tricked and recanted the statement he made at the forum. Iraq does not recognize Israel and supports Paleostinian statehood aspirations.
Several candidates have been barred from the election for violating codes of conduct.
Shaalan Abdul-Jabbar Ali, who is also a member of Taqadum Alliance, was excluded on Monday after he claimed that he spent his own money to pave the streets. "The candidate’s election campaign includes state-owned mechanisms that carry-out street paving process," state media reported IHEC as saying.
He appealed the decision and the suspension of his candidacy was lifted.
The commission canceled the endorsement of the candidacy of Ashwaq Fahed Aboud al-Ghurairi because there is a criminal case against her on charges of buying votes.
There are more than 3,200 candidates competing for 329 seats in the parliament. Nine seats are reserved by minorities and there are 67 candidates vying for these spots. At least 25 million Iraqis are eligible to vote, but polls predict a record low turnout.

[IsraelTimes] Law enforcement take action against depiction in Arab town of button men who carried out 2017 Temple Mount attack, killing two coppers.
Police reportedly covered up overnight Saturday-Sunday a mural in the city of Umm al-Fahm
...home base of the Islamic Movement — Northern Branch, the militant branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Israel. They’re fond of rioting on the Temple Mount and harassing the Jews who come to see it, among other “activist” behaviours...
that honored residents of the town who carried out a deadly shooting attack in Jerusalem’s Old City in 2017 that killed two coppers.
The move came after the Arab Israeli town’s mayor, Samir Mahamid, told police the wall on which the mural was painted was privately owned and therefore municipal authorities could not take action against it, according to the Haaretz newspaper.
"I received legal advice that said it is a private wall," Mahamid told Haaretz. "Therefore I explained to the police that I don’t have the authority to act, and asked them to decide what to do."
According to the report, police asked the owners of the wall to clean up the mural, and they refused.
The mural was painted in May amid deadly violence between the Arab and Jewish communities that accompanied fighting between Israel and terror groups in the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip, Haaretz said.
It memorializes three Arab Israeli men — Mohammed Ahmed Mafdal Jabrin, Mohammed Hamed Abed Eltif Jabrin and Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Jabrin — who on July 14, 2017, shot upcoppers Haiel Sitawe, 30, and Kamil Shnaan, 22, at an entrances to the Temple Mount, killing them. Other officers at the scene returned fire, killing the three attackers.
The mural depicts the perpetrators of the attack along with two other men, one of whom was identified as Ahmed Muhammad Mahameed, who attempted to stab a policeman in Jerusalem in 2018 and was rubbed out. According to Haaretz, the other is Muhammad Mahameed Kiwan, 17, who was killed by police during the May violence.
Under the men’s faces, the artist wrote, "Tomorrow’s smile will be wider," a quote from a Facebook post published by two of the Temple Mount attackers hours before the killings.

[JPost] Over 500 Israelis were exposed in the massive "Pandora Papers" exposé revealing offshore dealings of hundreds of officials and businessmen.
Holding a trust or company in a tax haven is not a violation of Israeli law, and the Israelis mentioned in the leaked documents may not have committed any crime.
Former Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat and Jordanian King Abdullah II were among the hundreds of politicians, billionaires, celebrities, drug dealers, royal family members, and religious leaders exposed by the "Pandora Papers" — a 2.94 terabyte database exposing offshore dealings published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) on Sunday.
The Pandora Papers is the world’s largest-ever journalistic collaboration, with over 600 journalists from 117 countries analyzing over 11.9 million documents, according to the ICIJ. The documents expose over 330 politicians from over 90 countries.

Khamenei didn’t specifically name a specific country but said: "The issues concerning Iran's northwestern neighbors should be resolved wisely by relying on nations, through the cooperation of the armies of neighboring countries and by avoiding the presence of any foreign military forces."
He added: "In issues concerning the northwest of Iran, the Iranian Armed Forces act with authority and wisdom. It's good for others to act wisely too and not permit the region to face problems."
He also said the presence of foreign forces in the Middle East were a "source of destruction" and urged neighboring countries to "stay independent" and "join forces."

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb ...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers, a practice dating back to the heady days of human sacrifice to Baal Moloch... ’s top Christian holy man said on Sunday the government should put an end to any meddling in the judiciary after the probe into last year’s vast Beirut port blast was halted by the latest of a series of complaints against the lead investigator. The investigation was frozen on Monday when a former minister wanted for questioning as a suspect filed a case questioning the judge’s impartiality.
The move followed a smear campaign by Lebanon’s political class against Judge Tarek Bitar and a warning by a bigwig of the powerful heavily armed Iran-backed Hezbollah group to Bitar that he would be removed.
Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai, who has been sharply critical of Hezbollah, said in a Sunday sermon that political pressure on Bitar weakened the authority of the judiciary and could put international aid for Lebanon at risk.
"We cannot insist on the investigation in the port crime and not support the investigating judge and the judiciary," al Rai said.
"It’s true that the government should not interfere in the judiciary but it is it’s duty to intervene to stop any meddling in the affairs of the judiciary," he added.
The Aug. 4 2020 Beirut port blast, caused by a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored unsafely for years, killed over 200 people but more than a year on no one has been held accountable.
Bitar is the second judge whose investigation has been stymied by powerful factions in Lebanon, where a lack of high-level accountability are blamed for systemic corruption, governing gridlock and economic meltdown.
Judge Fadi Sawan, the first to lead the probe, was removed in February on the back of a legal complaint that questioned his neutrality, similar to the one that has now frozen the investigation.
Hezbollah leader Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb... last month accused Bitar of bias and "playing politics" but said he was not calling for his immediate removal. A bigwig from the group was later reported to have threatened to get Bitar fired.
A judicial source said the judiciary were following up on the threat. Hezbollah officials and the justice minister could not be reached for comment.
Prime Minister Najib Mikati said he hoped Bitar would stay in his job and announced that security precautions had been taken as a result of threats but said the decision to freeze the probe was a judicial matter.
