[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] As of Sept. 1 2021, it will be a felony in Texas to pay for sexual services of any sort. Does that include jewelry, movie + dinner?
The bill, titled House Bill 1540, passed unanimously on Thursday and was signed into law by Republican Governor Greg Abbott ... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too... Sandra Guerra Thompson, the director of the Criminal Justice Institute at the University of Houston Law School, summarized the rationale behind the new law.
"This law is a rethinking of the traditional supply side in prosecutions that tended to target the women who were involved in these activities and not the buyers. It's also coming from a growing awareness that oftentimes, those involved are from a vulnerable class," Thompson said, according to The Hill.
The law appears to be modeled on what has previously been dubbed the Nordic model, which was first implemented in Sweden. Under this model, hookersprostitutes sex workers ...the oldest profession was legal (though not always unregulated) for thousands and perhaps even millions of years. That never has made it something most people want their daughters doing... are not criminally liable, but their customers are.
The debate continues to rage worldwide over what the legal status of sex work should be.
Kathleen Kim of Loyola Marymount University Law School strongly disagreed with the new Texas measure, saying, "Putting individual 'johns' in jail will do absolutely nothing for victims of trafficking."
"In fact, it harms them because evidence demonstrates that the more resources that go into law enforcement approach, the more that victims lose because resources that ought to be going towards things like victim benefits, social services support, and legal advocacy, is still unavailable and maybe even diminished because more resources are going toward a dominant criminal enforcement approach."

Sadly, a bridge too far. People have to make a living, even if the Pharisees find it distasteful. Grow up. Exhibit some common sense. Hard as it may be.

Interesting, considering the politicians in Austin are frequent users of contract sexual services.

None of my business, but the Governor might want to focus his attention on the impact whoremongers in Washington are having on Texas, as opposed to the locals.
Clearly an attack on one of the oldest of small businesses.

When all else fails, identify the problem that is least urgent and attack the sh*t out of it.

Devil's Advocate. You have lots of underage illegals flooding the zone. When you have no skills and only your body, guess what happens next? Doesn't take a brain what's unfolding. At worst this will move them along to the northern and western blue cities and not flood Texas.
While I am for Freedom of movement, travel and etc...
We as citizens are also responsible for applying commonsense to protect the general public. If you are sick STAY THE HELL HOME.
To address the ongoing Federal Gov. power grabs. DC needs to be seriously reminded where its temporary authority comes from this 2022 mid-term election.
[PJ] As the U.S.-backed regime in Afghanistan folds with astonishing rapidity before the advancing Taliban, Old Joe Biden’s handlers, ever ready to prove how badly they can foul things up, are appealing to the Taliban to go easy, and dangling before these battle-hardened jihadis the chimerical prospect of acceptance by the bodies of world authority and opinion which those jihadis regard with nothing but contempt. According to the Washington Post, "the U.S. argument to the Taliban is that if it avoids a direct confrontation with the more than 3,000 U.S. troops arriving in Kabul and waits for the completion of the evacuation, that increases the likelihood that both the international community and Afghans will accept the Taliban’s entry into the capital."
Do the foreign policy "experts" in the State Department really think that the Taliban cares in the slightest degree for acceptance by "the international community"? The answer is actually yes, the State wonks do likely think that, and it’s just another illustration of how all their Foreign-Policy-Magazine Rand-Corporation Brookings-Institution doesn’t move them even a millimeter closer to understanding the realities of Afghanistan, which is why we are in the fix now, a fix that has been utterly predictable (and I have predicted it, repeatedly) for the last twenty years.
In reality, the Taliban makes no secret of what it is all about: It is an Islamic group, dedicated to establishing the rule of Islamic law in Afghanistan. The word "Taliban" means "students," i.e., students of the Qur’an and Sunnah. That’s basically all they’re about. The Taliban regards the "international community" as largely made up of jahili regimes, that is, societies of unbelievers that deserve no respect and certainly warrant no accommodation. Whether the "international community" accepts the Taliban or doesn’t, the Taliban will soldier on for Allah. If they attain victory now, they will rule Afghanistan. If they don’t, they will keep fighting against the next crowd of infidels that comes into the country.
I understand but disagree with those who felt we should leave Afghanistan; I cannot understand why it has been done with such tragic human cost; without an effective strategy to defend our partners; and with inestimable shock to our nation’s credibility, reliability, and honor.

Hey Mitt, You are part of the Washington DC problem that has eroded America’s credibility, reliability, and honor. Get on a plane and fly to Kabul yourself and fix this problem.

I don't know why, but even though I read the headline Romney, my brain said John Fing Kerry. Now that I think about it, they are pretty much the same.

/\ The traitorous Kerry will undoubtedly play a role. His political aspirations are still as real as ever. After Plug's departure, I could easily see him rolling in as Kam's VP.

#7 We've also got about 1,000 generals and admirals. So, put together 535 Congresscritters with 1,000 FOGO's, throw in the top leadership of the FBI and CIA, and you've got a 2,000-person relief battalion. And don't worry about an exfil plan -- those folks are so smart they'll figure it out for themselves. Rangers Lead The Way.

Well, I think this at least guarantees we won't be hearing much of the political and military wisdom of Petraeus, McRaven et al. for a while.

[FREEBEACON] When President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity.... defended his decision to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by a September 11 deadline, the president told news hounds in July that it remained "highly unlikely" the Taliban ...Arabic for students... would take control of the country.
"The likelihood there's going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely," Biden said. "The Afghan government and leadership has to come together. They clearly have the capacity to sustain the government in place ... there's not a conclusion that, in fact, they cannot defeat the Taliban."
Biden's forecast for the future of Afghanistan, however, has proven completely false. The Taliban has captured several of Afghanistan's largest cities, and experts now believe the terrorist group will target the Afghan capital of Kabul in the coming weeks. The Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft ...knaves, footpads, and adjusters employed by the Biden Crime Family. They leave a trail of havoc everywhere they turn their attention, be it the nation's borders, the Keystone XL Pipeline, or epidemics, sometimes on purpose, most times through sheer arrogant ineptitude. They learnt this stuff in college, you know... scrambled to call in another 8,000 troops to the region in an effort to rescue both U.S. troops and civilians remaining in the country.

I'm not going to believe one word this man has to say for the rest of his administration.
He has proven to me, he has little to nothing in the way of strategic thinking left in his head.

I'm thinking of all of our guys who fought these last 21 years and how they will be feeling soon after the news of the Afghanistan Crash & Burn Today... They might need a couple of 'old timer's ears' in the weeks and months ahead -- listen & be available, if & when they ask... Stay Strong !
Shiva Protector of the Hohlraum wrote yesterday after he learned of the fall of Afghanistan
KIND OF LIKE Hue. Despicable animals, then and now. Pure political murders. I would kill them as I did the NVA/and so-called grassroots uprising of the Viet Kong. Jeez I hated those VC bastards. Murderers and terrorists.
To that I wrote:
Ilost 9 of my friends to Nam, their names are on the wall in Washington, DC and I had another bunch of guys loose parts, some of them their souls (PTSD)
and then the piece you read as my headlines to this comment;
If you talk with our Vets about this event - The Fall of Afghanistan - many of our Allied and US Vets will likely appreciate you Listening & Talking about their experiences in the Middle East War Theater, be there for them and yourselves - Shared Experiences Build a Country - Do Your Part - The Spirit of the Greatest Generation will Support You !

Some difficulty was encountered with gaining the assistance of Zonians and others in 1989, prior to the US invasion of Panama and toppling of Noriega. Some of those were reluctant Americans (yes Americans) who had served in Vietnam and watched events unfold following the US withdrawal and fall of Saigon.

There's going to be a concerted campaign by the corporate media and the political establishment (uniparty) to make the average American feel shame over a failure that was actually largely concocted by unelected elites. It's a failure of many parts and many players, but not a reflection on the average American in any way.

Extra order order of Depends requested at the WH.
[Hot Air] It’s still going to be another ten days before New York’s soon-to-be ex-Governor officially steps down and is replaced by Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul. In the meantime, the state Assembly has formed a committee to review all of the available testimony and information, including the State Attorney General’s damning report, and consider impeachment proceedings. Or at least that was the plan until Friday. Speaker Carl Heastie, a longtime Cuomo ally, seemed to take everyone by surprise yesterday (including his own Democratic Party) by announcing that the impeachment probe was on hold and would be suspended after the Governor steps down. The only reasons he managed to come up with for this action are dubious in the extreme and the assembly members who have already been digging into the case are almost universally flummoxed over how this state of affairs came to pass. More than a few are now asking if there was some sort of secret deal in place. (NY Post)
[FOXNEWS] A federal judge on Friday ordered the Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft ...knaves, footpads, and adjusters employed by the Biden Crime Family. They leave a trail of havoc everywhere they turn their attention, be it the nation's borders, the Keystone XL Pipeline, or epidemics, sometimes on purpose, most times through sheer arrogant ineptitude. They learnt this stuff in college, you know... to "enforce and implement" the Trump-era Remain-in-Mexico policy in response to a lawsuit from Texas and Missouri, which claimed that the administration’s attempt to terminate the policy was illegal and harmful.
The two Republican states had sought a preliminary injunction against the administration’s June 1 memo formally ending the policy -- officially called the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). They argued that the ending of the policy was in breach of the Administrative Procedures Act (APA).
The ruling by Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, orders the Biden administration "to enforce and implement MPP in good faith" until it has been "lawfully rescinded" in compliance with the APA, and until the federal government has enough detention capacity to detail all migrants colonists subject to mandatory detention.
However, there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly... it notes the injunction is narrow and also states: "Nothing in this injunction requires DHS to take any immigration or removal action nor withhold its statutory discretion towards any individual thatit would not otherwise take."
However, there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly... the court has stayed the applicability of the opinion and order for 7 days to allow the government to appeal it.
"My office has been leading the way nationally in fighting human trafficking, and the Biden Administration’s lax border policies increase the risk for human trafficking at the border and, in turn, in Missouri," Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said in a statement. "Today’s massive win was crucial — re-implementing the Migrant Protection Protocols will help secure the border and fight the scourge of human trafficking."
"Together we sued, and just handed Biden yet another major loss!" Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's office tweeted.
