The following was seen in the Augusta Chronicle, a local newspaper now owned by the USA-Today group.
Jerry W. - For over 70 years I have thought of myself as a good American citizen. I have no bias or malice toward anyone. I've worked all my life, served my country, community and church. Somehow I awoke this morning to find out I am a racist, bigot, homophobic, insurrectionist, terrorist, white-supremacist. I have never owned a slave or knew anyone who did. I've never known anyone who was a slave. I've worked with people of all creeds, religions, races, and political affiliations. I always thought we got along well. My neighbors are from all different backgrounds. It's only since last November that I have come to be known by all these other traits. How on earth did I not know this about myself for all those years?
Sarcasm is a skill that takes years to hone to a fine, cutting edge.

In the photos found in Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail, there is a picture of Hubert Humphrey with the caption "I was once a Jew myself."

Whites = the New Jews
Is it 1933? Or more like 1938?
Get busy
[theconservativetreehouse] Let me be clear.... I fully expect to see the standing U.S. military deployed against any state who stands up against unconstitutional federal demands. I have made this assertion since the jaw-dropping revelations about the Pentagon during the first impeachment effort in August 2019 and the lack of leadership from the military in removing Lt. Col Alexander Vindman from his compromised position.
♦ WHAT: As I look forward the likely origination point for military deployment will be federal COVID mandates, though it could also be state election issues.
♦ HOW: The hardline leftists are weaponizing the military for political benefit.
♦ WHEN: As a result of severe federal government intrusion it is only a matter of time before states start to rebel against federal COVID demands. That, in my opinion, will be the inflection point and posse comitatus will be suspended.
The majority of the U.S. military rank and file are patriots; America-first nationalists with a patriotic outlook toward the United States as a constitutional republic. The majority of the military also come from red states. This is an identified risk to the Obama objective of fundamental change. Additionally, thanks in large part to a purge during the Obama era, the majority of the flag officers are not in alignment with the rank and file. This sets the stage for a problem....
WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday ordered new steps to tackle the threat posed by extremism in the ranks of the military, including updated screening questionnaires for recruits, a review of the department’s definition of extremism and efforts to prevent veterans from being drawn into violent movements.
The move follows a 60-day stand-down across the armed services that Austin ordered to allow commanders and troops in every unit to discuss how to confront the problem of white supremacist or other extremist ideology within the military. The Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump thrust the issue into the spotlight, as some of the mob were former or current members of the military with links to ultra-rightwing groups.
In a memo Friday to top officials and commanders, Austin said the department was still reviewing the results of the stand-down but he had decided to move ahead with "several immediate steps."
Under Austin’s instruction, the Pentagon’s top lawyer and other officials will review and update the department’s definition of "prohibited extremist activities" for all service members. Critics have said the Pentagon needs to take into account how extremism has evolved in the digital era, and how some adherents engage in more loosely formed networks.
The secretary also called for updated screening questionnaires for potential recruits to gather information about current or previous extremist behavior "to ensure that only the best qualified recruits are selected for the services," according to the memo. (read more)
It is well known and accepted that most of the rank and file military come from Red States, and/or the Southern U.S. region. This has been a reality in the military for as long as I can remember. Again, this is a problem if the government is going to weaponize the military against the citizens. Hence, they need to quantify the issue in advance.
[HISTORIC NOTE: This is not the first time the Pentagon has undertaken such an assessment. In the aftermath of the Chinese regular army refusing to turn their fire on the protesting students at Tienanmen Square (remember, the Mongolian divisions were called in); the world noticed. The U.S. Pentagon did a similar internal assessment.]

So let's see if we've got this right. Per the DoD's new Political Commissars:
Spencer Rapone, USMA grad and self-proclaimed Communist: not an "extremist"
Supporters of BLM, a self-described Marxist movement that opposes the American "empire" and that has encouraged and supported deadly violence against police in hundreds of US cities white and jewish Americans, and the Secret Service members guarding the White House among other law enforcement officers, are not "extremist."
But...
Service members who supported Donald Trump are "extremists"
Service members who sport a confederate flag anywhere on their person or possessions are "extremists"
Service members who sport a confederate flag anywhere on their person or possessions are "extremists." Ditto for the Revolutionary War "Betsy Ross" flag, the Gadsden flag, and anything bearing the phrase, "Make America Great Again."
Service members who express support for Martin Luther King's maxim that we should judge people "on the content of their character, not the color of their skin" are "extremists"
Service members who do not agree that George Floyd was strangled or asphyxiated but instead died of a drug overdose are "extremists"
Service members who publicly state that there is no empirical support for the claims of "systemic police racism" are "extremists"
Service members who support enforcement of our southern border are "extremists"
Service members who make references to clear, factual irregularities and violations of election laws in the November 2020 elections are "extremists"
Service members who consult news sites, bloggers, podcasts, etc where the lies, hypocrisy and incoherence of left-wing members of Congress are called out are "extremists"
Got it.
Go F--- yourselves, you smelly little totalitarians
I like Aslan’s answer in The Last Battle, myself, though it is considerably less succinct, being aimed at children:
“Then I fell at his feet and thought, Surely this is the hour of death, for the Lion (who is worthy of all honour) will know that I have served Tash all my days and not him. Nevertheless, it is better to see the Lion and die than to be Tisroc of the world and live and not to have seen him. But the Glorious One bent down his golden head and touched my forehead with his tongue and said, Son, thou art welcome. But I said, Alas Lord, I am no son of thine but the servant of Tash. He answered, Child, all the service thou hast done to Tash, I account as service done to me. Then by reasons of my great desire for wisdom and understanding, I overcame my fear and questioned the Glorious One and said, Lord, is it then true, as the Ape said, that thou and Tash are one? The Lion growled so that the earth shook (but his wrath was not against me) and said, It is false. Not because he and I are one, but because we are opposites, I take to me the services which thou hast done to him. For I and he are of such different kinds that no service which is vile can be done to me, and none which is not vile can be done to him. Therefore if any man swear by Tash and keep his oath for the oath’s sake, it is by me that he has truly sworn, though he know it not, and it is I who reward him. And if any man do a cruelty in my name, then, though he says the name Aslan, it is Tash whom he serves and by Tash his deed is accepted. Dost thou understand, Child? I said, Lord, though knowest how much I understand. But I said also (for the truth constrained me), Yet I have been seeking Tash all my days. Beloved, said the Glorious One, unless thy desire had been for me thou wouldst not have sought so long and so truly. For all find what they truly seek.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Last Battle
We must seek truth.
We must seek the old truths, as they were said in the olden times .
We must seek the good, and the beautiful.
We must seek what we know is right and just and holy.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a book recommendation here— I’ve missed having my perspective broadened.
[Amazon] Read this book. Listen to the music. The parent site won't allow copy and paste so just hit the link.
Lots of reasons to like Bulgakov's work, but the thing that really makes this book a big deal to me is Jesus forgiving Pilate at the end. Because that's the ultimate in forgiveness. Also, I'm not usually tolerant of magick in fiction, but Bulgakov pulls it off. Additionally, I have shared household with a number of black cats, so there's a connection there. Subversive literature from the USSR is an interesting area that I have only touched lightly, but hope to look into more when I'm not reading old cop books like John D. MacDonald and Ed McBain.
Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940) was one of the so called Fellow Travelers, apolitical Russian writers and artists who stayed on after the Revolution. Most were driven out of Soviet literature by the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers under Leopold Averbakh in the 1920s. The link is to the Amazon free sample of the first several chapters of the English translation of The Master and Margarita.

TW, I meant to rehabilitate and update this after our discussion, but the week didn't allow. You did an excellent job of fleshing it out, thank you for that.
I'll do better next time...

All those words are yours, M. dear, except for the periwinkle ones. If you have anything you want to add now as a comment, I’m sure we’d enjoy reading it — otherwise we’ll just have to compose ourselves to patience for your fleshed out next essay, now that you know the questions I ask. ;-)
[RedState] So I see the public justification given by Major League Baseball of ridiculous "virtue signaling" of the first order with the move being justified as "demonstrating our values as a sport."
But a more plausible and persuasive explanation for why Major League Baseball did what it did has emerged in the past few days in various places.
It is a virtual certainty that if MLB had not caved in to the pressure at the league level, the left-wing interest groups agitated over the issue would have shifted their efforts towards pressuring individual players who were likely to be voted by fans to play in the game. I am not persuaded; sounds like damage control to me.

...FWIW, I think he's right - seeing as how these overpaid twinkies are already kneeling for the National Anthem, it wouldn't have taken much to get them to boycott the game. Probably just saying 'Boo!' would have done it; and there would have been zero repercussions on the players.

I could never understand your (American) veneration of professional athletes (or actors).
The Aztec God Huitzilopochtli, the deity of war, the Sun and human sacrifice was well pleased with the game of ullamaliztli. The matches were very well attended.
The great Roman coliseums are now tourist attractions and the Aztec have long been assimilated. Game and society over.
Man's debauchery and slaughter appears to run in cycles. You may draw your own conclusions.
