[Southeast Missourian] A statement from Kathryn Limbaugh and family said Rush Hudson Limbaugh III was honorably laid to rest Wednesday in St. Louis, with close immediate family in attendance. There will be additional celebrations of Rush's life to come both virtually and in his hometown of Cape Girardeau, the statement said. It was later confirmed that Limbaugh was buried at Bellefontaine Cemetery, a historic cemetery in St. Louis where many other famous Missourians have been laid to rest.

[Fox Business] Costco will raise its minimum wage to $16 an hour starting next week, CEO Craig Jelinek said during a Senate Budget Committee hearing on Thursday.
The $16 an hour boost puts its starting wages above Target's and Amazon's. Target implemented a $15 per hour minimum wage in July, while Amazon raised its minimum wage to $15 in 2018. Walmart's starting wage is $11 per hour.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., chaired the Senate Budget Committee hearing, titled "Should Taxpayers Subsidize Poverty Wages at Large Profitable Corporations?" He said he invited Walmart CEO Doug McMillon to be humiliated testify but he declined.
"Why should working people be subsidizing some of the wealthiest families and largest corporations in America because of the starvation wages they pay their workers in China?" Sanders said, adding praise for Target and Costco for raising their starting wages. "If Walmart thinks they're going to avoid answering that question because they didn't show up today, they're deeply mistaken." How about we let the market decide, Bernie? Why should Walmart answer to you?

"My career has been as fulfilling as I could ever have imagined when I graduated from law school way back in 1975," said U.S. Attorney Durham. "Much of that fulfillment has come from all the people with whom I’ve been blessed to share this workplace, and in our partner law enforcement agencies. My love and respect for this Office and the vitally important work done here have never diminished. It has been a tremendous honor to serve as U.S. Attorney, and as a career prosecutor before that, and I will sorely miss it."
Prior to his appointment as an interim U.S. Attorney in November 2017 and subsequently as the presidentially appointed U.S. Attorney in February 2018, Mr. Durham served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in various positions in the District of Connecticut for 35 years, prosecuting complex organized crime, violent crime, public corruption and financial fraud matters. From 1978 to 1982, he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, and from 1977 to 1978, he served as a Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Leonard C Boyle will serve as Acting U.S. Attorney upon Mr. Durham’s departure.
John H. Durham will continue as special counsel in the investigation of the origins on the Trump-Russia inquiry, but is being asked to resign as U.S. Attorney, as the Biden administration begins replacing top federal prosecutors appointed by President Donald Trump with its own nominees.
Among the federal prosecutors appointed by Trump, only Durham and David C. Weiss, the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, whose office is directing a tax investigation of Biden’s son Hunter Biden, are expected to remain with the justice department after the incoming administration asks for the resignations of the Trump appointees who have not already left.
Durham’s position directing the politically explosive inquiry into the Russia probe — and Weiss’ role in the Hunter Biden investigation — presented a challenge for the Biden administration.

Many (include me) were hopeful that some of the deep state manufactured Russian-hoax would be cleaned up and people would actually be accountable for their criminality. We learned a lot about how deep the swamp is and the two systems of justice. I'm not sure what these realization do for the country. Probably we need to root things out beginning at the local level and move upwards. Maybe a term limits amendment would be a good place to start. People wouldn't be in government for life.
[Townhall] Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando Friday morning, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis explained how his state was able to provide accurate and swift election results during the 2020 presidential cycle.
"Florida has also led and continues to lead on ensuring the integrity of our elections. Now 20 years ago, if you had uttered the word Florida and the word elections in the same sentence, you would have been met with snickers. Well when I came into office, I didn't wait for a crisis I took early action to make sure we would have a smooth election," DeSantis said. "When COVID hit I rejected pressure to make hasty and ill conceived changes to our election administration like mass mailing of unsolicited ballots. And the result? On Election Night by midnight, the state of Florida had counted, tabulated and put out 11 million votes."
DeSantis also detailed ongoing work to bolster election integrity for the future.
"But we're not resting on our laurels. This year, Florida is leading on banning all forms of ballot harvesting and banning third party political groups like those founded by Mark Zuckerberg ...the Peewee Herman clone who owns Facebook. He's got more money than Croesus and thinks he should be regulated by the government because it does such a nifty job with all the other stuff it regulates.... from interfering in the administration of our elections," he continued. "The bottom line is this: In Florida, your vote counts and we will continue to have a process that is transparent and that inspires confidence."

In Georgia, where concerns have been especially pronounced, state lawmakers voted this week to pass a bill implementing tighter security measures on absentee voting.
"NOT ABOUT DISENFRANCHISING VOTERS"
As recent reports explain, the legislation mandates that voters provide either a photocopy of a state-issued identification or its associated number when casting a vote by mail.
The bill passed primarily along party lines by a 35—18 margin, and Georgia Republicans are touting it as a step toward safeguarding the integrity of future elections. Democrats, on the other hand, largely contend that it represents an effort to discourage minorities from voting.
State Sen. Larry Walker, the Republican who sponsored the bill, defended it in a statement declaring that it is "not about disenfranchising voters" or "overly burdening the electorate."
Instead, he argued that the bill was aimed at "efficiency, integrity, allowing the Georgia public to have confidence in the vote."
For his part, Democratic state Sen. David Lucas issued his party’s prevailing view that this and other election-reform bills are actually about turning people away from the polls.
"NO QUESTION ABOUT WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN"
"The election didn’t turn out the way you want and you want to perpetuate the lie that Trump told," Lucas said, adding that Democrats are "going to fight" against the new legislation.
He went on to tell GOP lawmakers that "there’s no question about it what’s going to happen, and you’re going to spend taxpayer money trying to defend it."
State senators also passed a Republican-friendly bill requiring polling officials to count the total number of votes that had been cast, breaking the results down by method before any tallies could be publicly released. That legislation’s sponsor, GOP state Sen. Bill Cowsert, declared: "Give people the totals. Let people have the piece [sic] of mind that nothing’s been done in the dark of night."
Democrats denounced the effort over concerns that delays would undermine public confidence, including Sen. Elena Parent, who predicted that the measure "would just cause more angst."
Another bill passed along more bipartisan lines that would allow the state’s counties to start processing mail-in vote totals more than a week before Election Day.

GA. offers a FREE VOTER ID CARD which is valid for 8 years. Provided the person does not already have a State ID.

Why is it only Voter ID discriminates? While its OK for just about every Government agency to require the person applying to show ID proving who they are.
