[Times of San Diego] As the USS Bonhomme Richard continued to burn at Naval Base San Diego, the Navy on Wednesday commissioned a new amphibious assault ship that will be based in San Diego.
The USS Tripoli, the second ship in the America-class, is an improvement over the Wasp-class Bonhomme Richard. The new 46,000 ton warship is small aircraft carrier, capable of carrying over 30 aircraft, including helicopters, MV-22 Osprey tiltrotors and the new F-35B vertical-takeoff stealth fighter.
The commissioning at the Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard in Mississippi was virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic, though the Navy plans a future public event.
"Tripoli is an example of the continued investment in our Navy, to increase and maintain our edge on the battlefield," said Rear Adm. Philip E. Sobeck. "Congratulations to Tripoli's crew for all of your hard work, amidst these challenging times, to reach this milestone. We welcome you to the amphibious force, of combat-ready ships and battle-minded crews to go to sea and support sustained combat operations."
Sobeck, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 3, briefed the media in San Diego on Tuesday about progress in fighting the raging fire on the Bonhomme Richard.
The new warship's name commemorates the Marines who captured the city of Derna, Libya, in 1805 to end the First Barbary War. The event was later memorialized in the Marines' Hymn with the line, "to the shores of Tripoli."
The Tripoli is the 10th amphibious assault ship in the Navy's fleet. A third America-class assault ship, the future USS Bougainville, is under construction.

Wondering how the Bonhomme Richard manifest analysis is going...
#2
They have to wait until the fire is completely out and all the toxic fumes is aired out before they can start analyzing the ship.
My guess is that the USS Bonhomme Richard will be declared a total loss as a warship, it might be usable as a civilian support ship, but doubt anyone will want to put money into it when one could buy one of the used LHA in the Naval Reserve and restore them for far less money..

@#2: Understood, but my curiosity is in determining the shipping origins of the refurb materials that, as I've heard, were a major fuel source for the fire.
[ToloNews] The Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... initiated attacks in 20 provinces over the past two weeks, according to local officials in various provinces.
In the latest incidents, the Taliban launched attacks on Afghan cops in Maiwand district of Kandahar and Imam Sahib district of Kunduz, killing at least six members of the Afghan cops. 10 other security personnel were maimed.
"The Taliban launched attacks on Kalbad, Imam Sahib, Chardara and Dasht-e-Archi districts, they have also launched their offensive operations on the center of Kunduz," said Ghulam Rabbani Rabbani, a member of Kunduz's provincial council.
This comes two days after a suicide boom-mobile explosion and ensuing shootout, claimed by the Taliban, occurred on Monday morning in front of the National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS) compound in Aybak city, the center of the northern Afghan province of Samangan, and ended with three attackers and at least 11 other people killed.
Over the past two weeks, the Taliban also staged attacks in various areas of Kunduz province and the suburbs of Pul-e-Khumri, the center of Baghlan province.
Taliban attacks were also reported in Raghistan, Yaftal Bala and Kohistan ...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns.... districts of Badakhshan province.
"Yaftal Bala, which is a major zone in Faizabad, has witnessed some fighting," said Abdullah Naji Nazari, a member of Badakhshan's provincial council.
Attacks were also reported on Sayedabad, Jalrez and Nirkh districts of Maidan Wardak province.
"The Taliban make frequent attacks on checkpoints," said Sharifullah Hotak, a member of Maidan Wardak's provincial council.
Last week the Taliban launched attacks on the suburbs of Trinkot city, the capital of Uruzgan province in the south.
Attacks also were launched on Moqur, Khawja Omari and Deh Yak districts of Ghazni.
Based on the US-Taliban peace agreement signed in late February, the Taliban pledged to avoid launching attacks on the thriving provincial capitals and highways.
"The peace agreement, which was signed between the Taliban and the US, has been violated so far," said Nazeefa Yousuf Bek, a member of the Afghan parliament.
MASSIVE HUMAN CASUALTIES:
The Afghan security agencies data seen by TOLOnews shows that 2,685 non-combatants were killed or maimed in five months--from Jan. 21 to June 20--but the figures do not differentiate between those who bit the dust and those who were maimed.
The data is from one month ahead of the Feb. 28 peace deal between the US and the Taliban and four months afterward. It shows that civilian casualties have increased after the signing of the peace deal compared to one month ahead of the agreement.
The data indicates that 351 non-combatants were killed or maimed between Jan. 21 and Feb. 19, but the casualties increased to 553 between Feb. 20 to March 19.
A report by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) shows that 1,213 non-combatants were killed and 1,740 civilians were maimed in the first six months of this year--an 11% reduction from the same period in 2019.
The reduction comes amid increasing peace efforts by the Afghan government and its allies, but critics say violence is still high--especially by the Taliban--which is a key element of the grinding of the peace processor.

"UNAMID is deeply concerned about the violent mostly peaceful incidents that erupted in Kutum town on 12 July and the attack by unidentified gunnies on the Fata Borno IDP (internally displaced people) camp on the morning of 13 July 2020 which left 9 IDPs dead and 20 injured," the peacekeeping mission said in a statement."It is regrettable that these incidents have taken place while the transitional government of Sudan and the armed movements are close to concluding negotiations expected to bring peace and stability... to the Darfur region and the whole of Sudan," it added.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Tunisian media sources reported that Prime Minister Elias El-Fakhfakh officially submitted his resignation on Wednesday to Tunisian President Qais Said, after the latter asked him to resign.According to Tunisian "Mosaique FM" radio, Prime Minister Elias El-Fakhfakh submitted his resignation to Tunisian President Qais Said, after the meeting held today at the Carthage Palace in the Tunisian capital.
The radio had reported earlier today that the Tunisian President had met with Tunisian Prime Minister Elias Fakhfakh, Tunisian Parliament Speaker Rashid Ghannouchi, as well as the Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labor Union, Noureddine Taboubi.
The radio quoted sources that it considered "trustworthy" that Tunisian President Qais Said formally requested the Prime Minister, Elias El-Fakhfakh, to present his resignation in front of those present.
According to the website, the request to resign comes after the events and developments in the file "suspicion of conflict of interest for traps around deals related to companies he owns or owns shares in its capital."
A number of Tunisian representatives and parliamentary blocs submitted today a list signed of 105 Tunisian representatives to the office of the People’s Assembly, which they demanded to withdraw confidence from the traps.
The signed list represented the blocks of "Ennahda Movement", "Heart of Tunisia", "Al-Karama Coalition" and a number of independent representatives.
In turn, Imad al-Khumairi, a leader in the "Islamic Renaissance" party , confirmed today, the party’s "Shura Council", the option of withdrawing confidence from the prime minister, and instructing the party’s leader, Rashid al-Ghannushi, to follow up on the implementation of this option.

[ALMASDARNEWS] British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the UK should take lessons from other countries, referring to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... , which asserted that its drones had changed the "rules of the game" in the region.
According to the Ministry’s official site, Wallace’s statements came during a conference for the air and space forces, in which he said that Turkey’s use of domestically-made drones in Libya and Syria were effective.
"Look at how Turkey used its domestic aircraft, the Bayrakdar TP-2, in Libya since mid-2019."
He said: "These drones collected information intelligence, performed surveillance missions, and targeted front lines, logistics and logistical bases."
Wallace claimed that Turkey had inflicted heavy losses on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), thanks to its drones, smart systems on its tanks, and armored vehicles.
He pointed out that if the numbers of the real Syrian Army losses are half of the declared figures, then they will change the rules of the game.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... ’s Ansarallah Movement announced on Wednesday that it will unveil a new domestically-manufactured ballistic missile after it hit targets inside neighboring Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... .The announcement, which was made by the Ansarallah-affiliated Brigadier General ’Abdullah bin Amer, said that last week’s missile attack struck a number of sites deep inside of Saudi territory.
Among the targets for the Ansarallah missiles was the King Khaled Airport, which is located in the city of Khamis Mushayt.
Furthermore, Ansarallah missiles and drones also struck important oil facilities and military sites inside the bordering provinces of Jizan, Najran a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. It is the capital of the province of the same name, a favored target of Houthi rocket forces because they can see it, so there's no math involved.... , and Asir.
Unlike previous operations that involved the use of only one ballistic missile, the recent strike was conducted using a combination of missiles and drones, bin Amer said.
He also explained that the latest attack came in response to the Saudi Arabia’s ongoing strikes on Yemen, which have become more prevalent over the last few weeks.
"The enemy has tightened its blockade of Yemen and thus the armed forces have a duty to break the siege through military operations," bin Amer added.

[GATESTONEINSTITUTE.ORG] An increasingly popular idea is that whenever races clash, only minorities can be victims. The notion is hardly limited to the recent riots in America. Elements of such thinking often appear in other contexts.British women, for instance, including rape victims who drew attention to "Asian" (Pak and South Asian) sex grooming gangs, are also being attacked by the "woke" establishment.
Earlier this month in the UK, Sarah Champion, a Labor politician and MP for Rotherham (the epicenter of sex grooming), was accused of "fanning the flames of racial hatred" and "acting like a neo-fascist ...anybody you disagree with, damn them... murderer." Her crime? She had dared to assert that "Britannia has a problem with British Pak men raping and exploiting white girls."
The same elements accusing Champion of being a "murderer" also characterized the UK's anti-extremism program, Prevent, as being "built upon a foundation of Islamophobia ...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do... and racism."
A few weeks earlier, an article titled, "I was raped by Rotherham grooming gang—now I still face racist abuse online," appeared. In it, a British woman (alias, "Ella") revealed that her Moslem rapists called her "a white whore, a white b***h," during the more than 100 times she was raped in her youth by the Pak grooming gang.
"We need to understand racially and religiously aggravated crime if we are going to prevent it and protect people from it and if we are going to prosecute correctly for it," she said in a recent interview.
"Prevention, protection and prosecution—all of them are being hindered because we are neglecting to properly address the religious and racist aspects of grooming gang crimes.... It's telling them that it's OK to hate white people."
Ella's attempts to highlight the "religious and racist aspects" of her and many other girls' similar abuse led only to "a lot of abuse from far-left krazed killers, and radical feminist academics," she said. Such groups "go online and they try to resist anyone they consider to be a Nazi, racist, fascist or white supremacist".
"They don't care about anti-white racism, because they appear to believe that it doesn't exist. They have tried to floor me and criticise me continually and this has been going on for a couple of months. They tried to shut me down, shut me up ... I've never experienced such hate online in my life. They accuse me of 'advocating for white paedophiles' and being a 'sinister demonic entity.'"
Placing the blame -- or at least responsibility -- on the victim is not limited to the UK. According to an August 9, 2019 report, "in the Swedish city of Uppsala ... four women were raped in as many days." Although police failed to issue descriptions of the rapists -- usually a sure sign of their origins -- they did issue warnings for women to "think how they behave," to "think ahead," and not "go out alone."
Advice against alcohol, drugs, and reckless behavior would be more compelling if it were not made under duress.
After mobs of Moslemmigrants colonists sexually assaulted as many as a thousand women on New Year's Eve 2016 in Cologne ...the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth populated city in Germany.... , Germany, the city's mayor, Henriette Reker, called on women to "be better prepared, especially with the Cologne carnival coming up. For this, we will publish online guidelines that these young women can read through to prepare themselves."
In Austria, after a 20-year-old woman waiting at a bus stop in Vienna was attacked, beaten and robbed by four Moslem men -- including one who "started [by] putting his hands through my hair and made it clear that in his cultural background there were hardly any blonde women" -- police responded by telling the victim to dye her hair.
"At first I was scared, but now I'm more angry than anything. After the attack they told me that women shouldn't be alone on the streets after 8pm. And they also gave me other advice, telling me I should dye my hair dark and also not dress in such a provocative way. Indirectly that means I was partly to blame for what happened to me. That is a massive insult."

Which was never covered by the pro-jihadist liberal media. Making some people think this never, hasn't and still isn't going on. 1,000s of rape victims completely covered up.
Keeping normal humans ignorant to protect Muhammad's Koranic tradition of rape as a reward for his terrorist Islamic hordes.

Kind of strange that 2016 (year of big influx of "immigrants", right?) was the one and only year and one and only New Year's Eve that we've heard about "as many as 1000 women" being assaulted...and only in Cologne, not in other big, German cities. Just sayin'.
Nonetheless, reports of assaults were kaboshed on orders of the politicians there. Disgusting as it is not surprising.

Let us understand US Citizens Constitutional Rights are being violated and the Liberal-Socialist-Democrat Mayors and Governors are sitting with their thumbs (an likely other foreign objects)up their dark place.
They goal is to likely try to goad Trump into something that looks like a Federal Clamp down so they can twist the hell out of it to depict him as a dictator all before Nov. 2020.

I've said repeatedly that the way to stop the rioting is to make those rioting pay a heavy price. A couple of Ma-Deuce, or a couple of Bradleys with their mini-guns, would change the entire equation. These people are making war against the US. They should pay the price for their behavior

My (Home) Winchester Defender has 7 shell capacity, short 18" barrel and pistol grip. I'll live or die by that with .00. Easy reload, so extended action is unlikely. In my rural SD neighborhood, the ethnic neighbors will likely be with me, many are MCAS Miramar Marines. Good Peeps :-)

[Al Ahram] US President Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... warned Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... on Wednesday against executing three people allegedly involved in protests in November 2019.
"Three individuals were sentenced to death in Iran for participating in protests," he tweeted. "The execution is expected momentarily. Executing these three people sends a terrible signal to the world and should not be done!"
Iran's judiciary said Tuesday that a court had upheld the death sentence ...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead... s for criminal actions during protests last November sparked by a hike in petrol prices.
Reformist Shargh newspaper named the three as Amirhossein Moradi, a 26-year-old who worked at a cellphone retailer; Said Tamjidi, a 28-year-old student; and Mohammad Rajabi, also 26.
Iran has blamed last year's violence on "thugs" backed by its foes the United States, Israel and Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... The demonstrations erupted after authorities more than doubled fuel prices overnight, exacerbating economic hardships in the sanctions-hit country.
Petrol pumps were torched, cop shoppes attacked and shops looted, before security forces stepped in amid a near-total internet blackout.
A senior Iranian politician said in June that 230 were killed and thousands injured during the protests.
The United States has claimed that more than 1,000 were killed.
