Wonder why Venezuela, which has the world's large oil reserves, needs fuel from Iran?
As I recall, Venezuela does not have an oil refinery. They were accustomed to sending it to the U.S. to be refined, but apparently we don’t do that for them anymore. Iran, on the other hand, does have a refinery. No doubt they take home cocaine for distribution throughout the MidEast — given the current glut, I can’t imagine anyone wants Venezuela’s heavy, sour product (no, I don’t know what that means, except that it’s bad in comparison to light, sweet crude), even if China hadn’t locked it all in some years back at much less than it was worth then — but I’ll bet more than it’s worth now...

Venezuelan crude is refined by its American subsidiary Citgo (yes, the same company that has the sign in Boston's Kenmore Square). Trump imposed sanctions and froze its assets last year. Bgrd here

Valenzuela has more than enough refining capacity (built by Americans, nationalized (stolen) in the 70's). When Chavez took over, he fired the PVDSA workers and replaced them with his supporters. They didn't know squat about oil production, refining or distribution and it has been downhill race between incompetence and corruption ever since.
[Jpost] An attempted stabbing attack was reported at the Qalandiya crossing in northern Jerusalem on Tuesday.
The suspect was shot after jumping out of a truck and trying to carry out a stabbing attack, according to Channel 12. No injuries were reported in the incident otherwise.
According to Israel Police, the suspect approached a security officer at the crossing while holding a sharp object and attempted to stab the officer.
The officer saw the suspect coming and shot him. Video from the scene showed the suspect lying on the ground.
A Magen David Adom team transferred him from the scene at death's door.
[Jpost] Two fishermen from Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... were arrested by the IDF and their boat was confiscated off the coast of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to Paleostinian media. The report claimed that the arrest took place about three nautical miles off the coast.
[IsraelTimes] Army says rioters in al-Fawar hurled a rock at a soldier, lightly injuring him, a day after a serviceman was killed by a brick thrown at his head during an arrest raid in Yabed.
But Yaabed is a known hotbed of militant activity, so it was expected.
A Paleostinian teenager was rubbed out during predawn festivities with Israeli troops in the al-Fawar refugee camp near Hebron on Wednesday, the Paleostinian health ministry said, amid a general uptick in violence in the West Bank in recent days.
The Israel Defense Forces said a riot broke out during an arrest raid, forcing troops to use live fire as well as less lethal riot dispersal weapons.
The military said a soldier was lightly maimed by a rock thrown at him during the festivities.
The festivities came a day after an IDF soldier — Sgt. First Class Amit Ben-Ygal, 21 — was killed when a brick was thrown at his head during an arrest raid in the northern West Bank village of Yabed. On Tuesday, Israeli security forces also thwarted an apparent attempted stabbing attack at the Qalandiya Crossing outside Jerusalem, in which a Paleostinian tried to attack a border guard with a screwdriver, but was shot and injured before he could do so.
A Paleostinian health ministry spokesperson told AFP that Zaid Qaysia
...more formally Zaid Fadel Al-Qaysiah ...
, 15, was killed by a live bullet to the head fired by Israeli troops in the al-Fawar refugee camp near Hebron in the southern West Bank.
Four more Paleostinians were maimed during festivities.
The military said it was aware of "claims of a Paleostinian being killed and a number of Paleostinians being injured," but refused to comment further.
The uptick in violence in the West Bank came ahead of a visit to Israel by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to discuss, among other things, a plan by the Israeli government to annex portions of the West Bank.
In the predawn hours of Tuesday morning, Ben-Ygal’s Golani Reconnaissance Battalion conducted a series of arrests in the village, west of Jenin. As they were making their way out of the town at roughly 4:30 a.m., Ben-Ygal apparently heard a sound coming from one of the rooftops on the outskirts of the village and looked up. As he did, exposing his face, someone on the roof of the three-story building threw a brick at him.
Ben-Ygal, 21, was fatally maimed, received treatment at the scene before being flown by helicopter to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He's dead, Jim! Following the attack, the IDF — together with the Shin Bet security service — launched an investigation to find the perpetrator of the attack.
Throughout the course of Tuesday, Israeli troops arrested 10 residents of the building from which the brick was thrown. They were not necessarily suspected of having perpetrated the attack, but were brought in for questioning, an army spokesperson said.
Paleostinian media reported that the Israel Defense Forces had also sent a number of armored bulldozers and other heavy engineering vehicles into the town, sparking low-level festivities.
[IsraelTimes] The funeral for Paleostinian teen Zaid Fadel al-Qaysiah who was rubbed out by IDF troops during festivities in the Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron has kicked off.
Photos from the funeral show heavily crowded streets in an apparent bucking of social distancing guidelines.
Crowding was also reported at the funeral of IDF soldier Amit Ben Ygal who was struck and killed by a rock hurled during festivities with Paleostinians in Yabad early Tuesday morning. Israeli guidelines currently allow up to 50 people at funerals.
