[KhaamaPress] The Afghan forces inflicted casualties on Talibs after responding to an attack in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan, the Afghan military said.
The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said the a convoy of the Afghan forces came under attack as they were patrolling in Sabzikar Village of Chahar Bolak district.
The statement further added that the Afghan forces effectively responded to the attack, killing two Talibs and wounding one more.
The Afghan forces also arrested one of the assailants and confiscated a rocket launcher, an Ak-47 assault rifle and some munitions following the clash, the statement added.
The Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... group has not commented in this regard so far.
This comes as Talibs have been attempting to escalate attacks against the Afghan forces in various provinces during the recent weeks despite ongoing efforts to find a negotiated political settlement to end the conflict in the country.
[PRESSTV] Seven people have bit the dust when protesters, angry over alleged unfair distribution of food aid, clashed with police in Afghanistan’s western province of Ghor, a report says.
At least 14 other people were also injured in the festivities on Saturday, said Gulzaman Nayeb, a politician representing Ghor, adding that the protesting crowd turned angry during bread distribution in the Feroz Koh city, the bustling provincial capital.
He said that growing unhappiness at the distribution, which was allegedly favoring people with political connections, sparked the protest amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Mohammad Arif Aber, a front man for the provincial governor of Ghor, police forces opened fire after some individuals from the around 300 protesters began throwing stones, started firing guns and trying to storm the governor's house. He denied that the aid was being unfairly distributed.
The chairman of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), Shaharzad Akbar, said on Twitter that the group was looking into the "worrying reports of police firing on protesters."
The government in Kabul has recently started distributing bread to poor families through bakeries on a daily basis throughout the war-ravaged country as the restriction imposed by the pandemic have led to many job losses and rising food prices.

An influential French-Jewish intellectual who has criticized Islam was threatened and allegedly spat on by a young Arab man in Gay Paree.
Eric Zemmour was walking with shopping bags in his hands on April 30 when the incident occurred, the Bureau for Vigilance Against Antisemitism, or BNVCA, wrote in a statement Thursday, adding that a man identified as Mehdi Korchi filmed himself accosting Zemmour.
Police identified Korchi and plan to indict him for assault, Le Point reported.
Korchi, who appears to have livestreamed himself screaming at Zemmour "I’ll f*** your mother, son of a whore" while following him for minutes, explained in a later video that he had no interest in debating the right-leaning pundit. A video that seems to show him spitting at Zemmour also surfaced, though Korchi denies doing it.

Sarkozy is married to singer-songwriter Carla Bruni, who has a really nice birthday suit... . Korchi appeared to be smoking marijuana while speaking.

The following day, after the police announced that they had launched a criminal investigation into his actions, Korchi made another video in which he said that he "may have been carried away," adding "I truly regret my actions."

[SYRIAHR] Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that the Ottoman Turkish-backed police arrested a gang of three persons, including a woman, responsible for kidnapping incidents in Afrin. The police also set free a child who was kidnapped earlier by the same gang in Mare’ city, in order to blackmail the child’s family and get ransom in return for releasing him.
On Thursday, SOHR sources said that unknown persons kidnapped a civilian from Salqin city in rural Idlib, demanding his parents pay a large ransom, after sending a video tape, a copy of which was obtained by SOHR, showing the kidnappers cutting off the kidnapped civilian’s finger and brutally torturing him.
On the other hand, a civilian from al-Ya’qubiya village in rural Idlib was kidnapped, while reasons and motives behind kidnapping him remained unknown.
