The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) today designated dual Iranian and Iraqi national Amir Dianat, a longtime associate of senior officials of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF). Dianat, who is also known as Ameer Abdulazeez Jaafar Almthaje, is involved in IRGC-QF efforts to generate revenue and smuggle weapons abroad. OFAC is also designating Taif Mining Services LLC, a company owned, controlled, or directed by Dianat. Concurrent with OFAC’s action, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia filed criminal charges against Dianat and one of his business associates for violations of sanctions and money laundering laws, and filed a related civil forfeiture action alleging that approximately $12 million is subject to forfeiture as funds involved in these crimes and as assets of a foreign terrorist organization.
Dianat, an associate of IRGC-QF officials Behnam Shahriyari and Rostam Ghasemi, has supported IRGC-QF smuggling operations for several years, including efforts aimed at the shipment of weapons including missiles. The IRGC-QF has relied on Dianat to secure entry for vessels carrying IRGC-QF shipments and has used his business connections to facilitate logistics requirements. Dianat has been directly involved in IRGC-QF efforts to smuggle shipments from Iran to Yemen.

[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish police announced Friday that they have arrested a man in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir for his alleged involvement in a 2011 explosion in the capital city of Ankara. He is believed to be affiliated to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The suspect, who was only identified by police with the initials I.A., was arrested at his father’s house in the Kurdish-stonghold of Diyarbakir (Amed), reported Ottoman Turkish state-owned Anadolu Agency (AA).
The suspect is accused of orchestrating a boom-mobileing that took place in Ankara on September 20, 2011. The attack killed at least three people and injured many others.
After the incident, Ottoman Turkish officials stated that it was ""highly likely to be a terrorist attack," which is language commonly used by the government to refer to the activities of the PKK or Islamist hard boys. The former has clarified in the past that it only targets security forces in their military activities, sparing civilians.
[Institute for The Study of War] Key Takeaway: The government of Iraq remains beset by competing domestic and international forces, a political conflict that threatens to further destabilize the Iraqi state. Iraq’s highest Shi’a religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani likely worked with caretaker Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mehdi to remove key militias loyal to Sistani from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). The order places these militias under the direct command of the Office of the Prime Minister, a move which will be viewed by Iraqis as a vote of no confidence by Sistani in the remaining Iran-backed PMF factions and leadership. Simultaneously, Iraq’s Shi’a political blocs, led by the Iran-backed Conquest Alliance, are frustrating Prime Minister-designate Mustafa al-Kadhimi’s attempts to form a cabinet, calling into question whether Kadhimi will be able to overcome the partisan and ethno-sectarian deadlock to form a government. Additionally, Iran-backed parties are taking steps to weaken opposing ethno-sectarian groups by claiming some cabinet positions for Shi’a blocs rather than for their usual Kurdish occupants.

Coalition Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s on caves in the Hamrin Mountains of Saladin province on Wednesday have killed at least 5 to 10 alleged ISIS fighters, according to a statement by the Combined Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR)
"The Hamrin Mountains are a known ISIS safe haven with intricate tunnel and cave systems used to smuggle weapons, facilitate big shot movements and plot terrorist attacks in the region," reads a statement by the US-led coalition, using the arabic acronym for ISIS.
Carried out in tandem with the Government of Iraq, the blurb reveals the 14th Iraqi Army Division and security forces discovered ISIS "documents, electronic devices, and fragments of weapons and other equipment."
The coalition claims that the mountains have been used by senior ISIS leaders, as one of the group’s last operating posts in Iraq.

"The presence of ISIS in Iraq continues to diminish, thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of our Iraqi partner forces," Maj Gen. Eric Hill, commanding general, Special Operations Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve, .
"Strikes like these help our Iraqi partners maintain relentless pressure on the ISIS scourge, no matter where these hard boyz hide," he added

[IsraelTimes] Damascus denies blast caused by Israel, says it was ’human error’; Syrian war monitor says strike targeted Hezbollah weapons warehouse, in 2nd alleged IDF attack in under 12 hours
Israel bombed a munitions warehouse in central Syria on Friday morning in a rare daylight strike which sparked a massive explosion, according to reports from Syria.
The attack appeared to be the fifth strike attributed to Israel against Iran-linked forces in Syria in the past two weeks, coming less than 12 hours after Israeli attack helicopters reportedly bombed Iran-backed forces in the Syrian Golan Heights late Thursday night.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said the arms cache that was bombed on Friday morning by Israel was located outside Homs and contained missiles and ammunition belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group.
Damascus officially denied that Israel was responsible for the earth-shattering kaboom, saying it was the result of "human error" while transporting munitions, Syrian state media outlet SANA reported. This was widely seen by defense analysts as an attempt to cover-up yet another Israeli strike on Syrian soil.
According to Syrian media, the attack triggered huge secondary explosions, apparently as the munitions inside the warehouse detonated. SANA reported that at least 10 people were maimed in the blasts.
Photographs and videos from the scene showed massive damage to the surrounding area as shells and other munitions inside the warehouse were set off by the earth-shattering kaboom.
The Friday morning attack, which would be a highly irregular though not unprecedented daytime strike, came less than a day after a reported attack by Israel against pro-Iranian forces in southern Syria.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, Syria accused Israeli helicopters of firing at least five missiles at targets on the Syrian Golan Heights, just across the border from Israel.
"From the occupied Golan airspace, enemy Israeli helicopters attacked positions in the southern region with several missiles," Syrian state news agency SANA said.
SANA said the missile strike in the area of Quneitra caused "only material damage." It did not report any casualties or specify what was targeted.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported on the strikes, saying they targeted military positions of Iranian forces and pro-Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... militias.
The attack follows a series of strikes on Iran-linked forces in Syria in recent weeks.
[SYRIAHR] Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that US-led International Coalition carried out an airdrop in a neighbourhood in Hajin town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. U.S. troops raided a house in the neighbourhood arresting a person and his brothers for "belonging to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... ".
Yesterday, Syrian Observatory sources monitored an attack by four members of ISIS cell on an SDF military vehicle near the gas plant in Jadidat Akidat town in eastern countryside of Deir ezzor. The attack left three SDF fighters injured.
The attackers took advantage of the maintenance work by municipality, hiding behind soil piles. A military vehicle belonging to SDF chased them on the road to al-Izba near Koniko gas field, opening fire on their car in which they injured two ISIS members and capture two others. Meanwhile, ...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him.... the International Coalition forces have fired light bombs at the conflict zone near Koniko field.
