[KhaamaPress] The Afghan forces carried out operations against Haqqani Network Death Eaters in southeastern Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
province leaving at least 13 dead, the Afghan Military said.

13 Soldiers Killed In Badghis, Clashes Ongoing
[ToloNews] At least 13 members of the Afghan cops were killed and 22 others were maimed in Taliban
...Arabic for students...
attack on security outposts in Bala Murghab district in Badghis province in the northwest of Afghanistan, sources confirmed on Thursday.

The sources said that the festivities started at 11pm on Wednesday night and that five or seven other security force members are missing after the festivities.

Militants' attacks on a military base and police headquarters in Bala Murghab are still ongoing and the security forces are appealing for air support which has not been provided to them yet, soldiers from the frontline said.

Almost 500 troops are fighting an unknown number of Talibs in the district, said Abdul Aziz Beg, Head of Badghis Provincial Council
The police headquarters, the Army base and some other parts the city are vulnerable to threat by the Taliban, he claimed.

In the meantime, officials at the Ministry of Defence have said that the "forces have retreated from a number of the check posts to prevent the civilian’s casualties and festivities still ongoing."

"Air support has been provided to the forces and the Taliban has suffered heavy casualties," the officials said.

Sources said the residents of the district have been left their areas and that the Talibs are hidden in civilian houses.

Taliban in a statement claimed that they have taken the control a number of check posts in the district after Wednesday night’s attack.

Last time, the district came under Taliban attack early in March and was under siege for more than two weeks, leaving more than two dozens of security forces dead and almost 28 of them gone missing.

This comes as the conflicts have intensified in different parts of the country with the arrival of the spring season ‐ which is deemed as a usual fighting season for faceless myrmidons fighting the Afghan government forces.

President Ashraf Ghani

He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
on April 2 approved the annual security plan which encompasses boosting security and fighting murderous Moslems.
Khaama Press adds:
According to a statement released by Ministry of Defense, the Talibs launched indiscriminate attacks on Bala Murghab district at around 12:30am local time on Thursday.

The statement further added that the attacks were mainly focused in residential areas, forcing the armed forces to make tactical retreat in a bid to prevent civilian casualties.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed that heavy festivities are underway in the area and additional forces have been deployed to support the ground forces while the air forces have also carried out Arclight airstrikes to suppress the hard boys.

Unconfirmed reports suggest at least 13 Afghan soldiers have bit the dust during the festivities and more than 20 others have sustained injuries.

In the meantime, the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
group has claimed that five security outposts have been captured, 12 soldiers have been killed, and 21 others have surrendered to Taliban fighters.

group was also among those killed.

The Afghan ground forces and local residents did not suffer casualties in the airstrike, the source added.

Haftar forces advance to within 30km of the Libyan capital of Tripoli
[TWITTER]
Armed groups from Libya's Misrata are moving to defend Tripoli: Residents

[AlAhram] Armed groups from the western Libyan city of Misrata have started moving toward Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
to defend the capital against possible advance by Eastern forces, residents said on Thursday.

Eastern Libyan commander Haftar orders his troops to move on Tripoli in a video online

Eastern Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
ordered his troops on Thursday to march on the capital Tripoli, taking his conflict with the internationally recognised government to a dangerous new level.

Haftar posted his order in a video online, hours after his forces took full control of Gharyan, a town about 100 km (60 miles) south of the capital.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is in Tripoli trying to push an international peace deal, and was due to make a statement. He earlier called for restraint from all sides.

"To our army which is stationed at the outskirts of Tripoli. Today we complete our march ... We are going to start shortly," Haftar said in the video titled ’Operation to liberate Tripoli’.

"Today we will shake the land under the feet of their suppressors," he added.

The capture of Gharyan after skirmishes on Wednesday with forces allied to Tripoli-based Prime Minister Fayez al-Serraj followed a rapid thrust westwards by Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA) from his eastern stronghold of Benghazi.

The developments mark a dramatic escalation of a power tussle that has dragged on in Libya since the overthrow of Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
in 2011.

The country has been divided between the Western-backed government in Tripoli and a parallel administration allied to Haftar since Qadaffy’s downfall.

German police arrest teen who says he planned shooting
[DAWN] German police have tossed in the slammer
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
an 18-year-old suspect who tried to buy a gun to carry out a shooting.

Authorities said on Thursday the teenage male was arrested by a tactical weapons unit April 2 in Wiesbaden after officers lured him with a fake firearm.

The arrest followed a tip from "foreign law enforcement agencies" who warned German police that the teen wanted to buy a gun on the darknet websites that are hidden from public view.

Police said there was evidence the suspect, a German-Iranian citizen, harboured "right-wing ideas" and may be suffering from mental illness. He told police he planned to kill people who were "mobbing" him.

In 2016, an 18-year-old of Iranian origin killed nine people and then himself in Munich using a gun bought on the darknet.

Syrian national apprehended trying to enter US illegally hiding in a train from Mexico
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A 46-year-old Syrian man has been detained for attempting to enter the United States from Mexico illegally by hiding in a train, border protection agents say.

Customs and Border Protection officials report agents apprehended the man last weekend, after a train from Mexico passed through an imaging system at the downtown Calexico port screening center in southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. "CPB officers noticed an anomaly on the lower side of the commercial railcar," leading to the compartment on the outside of the train where the man was hiding.

The man was taken to a secure location, where officials confirmed, partly through fingerprinting, that he is a Syrian national without documentation authorizing his entry into the United States.

"This apprehension highlights the fact that none of our inspections are routine, especially when people purposely attempt to avoid the process," port director David Salazar said in a statement Wednesday. "CBP puts a lot of effort in identifying, vetting and prosecuting people who just don’t want to abide by the legal process of entering our country."

Rojava rights groups condemn arrests of Kurdish politicians in Afrin
[Rudaw] Amid global silence about abuses committed against the Kurdish population in Afrin, Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian militias have stepped up a campaign of arrests and kidnapping for ransom, according to a conflict monitor. Several politicians are among those incarcerated

intervene.

Hussein Ibish, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria (KDP-S) in Afrin and also head of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) in the Kurdish enclave in northwestern Syria, was arrested by Ottoman Turkish-backed forces on Sunday.

He was picked up "amid popular dissatisfaction with the arrests and hundreds of previous kidnappings and detentions," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Thursday.

Ibish’s party, ENKS, is in opposition to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Rojava ‐ the Kurdish autonomous region of northern Syria. Turkey considers the PYD and the armed People’s Protection Units (YPG) branches of the PKK and framed their early 2018 military incursion into Afrin as a counter-terror operation.

ENKS condemned Turkey’s offensive and has called for Ottoman Turkish forces and their Syrian proxies to be expulsed from Afrin.

The reason for Ibish’s arrest is not clear.

A day earlier, an ENKS colleague of Ibish, Mohammed Ali Reza was arrested and then released only to be re-arrested on Wednesday, according to the Observatory.

A group of civil and rights organizations including women’s groups, culture centres, and health care workers in Rojava issued a statement condemning the "arbitrary arrests."

ENKS on Tuesday called on the Ottoman Turkish government to put "pressure on the militias to end its violations and abuses against people and their property and immediately release our friend Hussein Ibish."

Turkey has come under fire for abuses committed by Syrian militias under its watch.

"Makeshift justice mechanisms of gangs and terrorist organizations also unlawfully detained or kidnapped civilians in Idlib and Afrin for expressing political dissent or for ransom," head of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria Paulo Sergio Pinheiro told the UN Human Rights Council on March 12.

His Commission documented "pervasive" lawlessness in Afrin since the Kurdish forces were ousted in March 2018.

The Observatory reported that "barely a day passes without violations" by the Syrian militias ‐ including "seizing property, arbitrary arrests, kidnapping, theft and torture."

The Syria factions have carried out kidnappings for ransom "after international silence that has given power to Turkey in Afrin," the Observatory stated.

(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) to cross the Euphrates River and enter their territory in southeastern Deir Ezzor.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army spotted a group of Islamic State gunnies trying to cross the Euphrates River near the key city of Albukamal this morning.

As soon as the terrorist combatants were spotted, the Syrian Arab Army opened fire on the Islamic State fighters in order to prevent their escape from the Baghouz area of southeastern Deir Ezzor.

The source said that the Islamic State group consisted of more than 15 fighter; they were either eliminated during the attempted escape or retreated back towards the Baghouz area.

The Islamic State has been trying to break out of the Baghouz Mountains for nearly a week now; however, intense pressure from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and U.S. Coalition has ultimately forced them to make desperate attempts to escape across the Euphrates.

Syrian Army launches heavy attack on jihadist stronghold in northeastern Latakia
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a heavy attack on the jihadist positions in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate on Wednesday.

Using surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division repeatedly struck Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
’s positions inside the key town of Kabbani in the Jabal al-Akrad region of Latakia.

According to a military source in Latakia city, the Syrian Army pounded Kabbani and its surrounding hilltops for over an hour; this resulted in heavy damage to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s defenses.

Wednesday’s attack by the Syrian Arab Army on Latakia marked the first time this month that they have targeted the jihadist groups inside this governorate in northwestern Syria.

The Syrian Arab Army’s attack on northeast Latakia comes just days after the jihadist rebels attacked to bomb the government’s positions with their assault drones.

The Syrian Army was able to shoot down the jihadist drone over the northwestern countryside of Hama before it could bomb their positions.

Russian Air Force completely obliterates jihadist command center in Idlib, Syrian shells kill 22 innocents
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Air Force carried out a strategic attack over the western countryside of the Idlib Governorate on Wednesday morning.

According to sources in Damascus, the Russian Air Force’s attack on Wednesday targeted several sites in the Jabal al-Zawiya region of Idlib.

Among the targets for the Russian Air Force were a command-and-control center and communications base in the rural Idlib town of Tal al-Nabi.

Army shelling kills 22 civilians in Syria's Idlib: Monitor

[AlAhram] Heavy bombardment by the Syrian army of the jihadist-controlled Idlib region has killed 22 civilians, a monitor said Thursday, the latest violence to theaten a seven-month-old truce.

The ceasefire was brokered by the main foreign backers of the warring parties in September to head off a government offensive that prompted UN warnings of humanitarian disaster for the region's three million residents.

But since the region was overrun by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
alliance led by former al-Qaeda gunnies in January, the fragile truce has come under mounting assault.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem accused The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
, which signed the September deal on behalf of the rebels, of failing to honour its commitments and warned that his government's patience was running out.

The UN humanitarian affairs office said the escalating violence threatened aid deliveries to some 2.7 million people in need.

In the latest flare-up, army artillery and rocket fire on the Idlib towns of Kafrnabel and Maaret al-Noman killed 13 people on Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

It came after shelling of adjacent jihadist-held areas of Hama and Aleppo provinces killed nine people late on Wednesday, the Britannia-based watchdog said.

The UN humanitarian office said that the ecalating violence had already killed 90 civilians in the Idlib region in March, nearly half of them children.

More than 86,500 people fled their homes in February and March as a result of the escalation, it added.

The UN expressed concern over "increased shelling along front lines, an intensification of air strikes and a growing number of attacks involving improvised bombs in urban areas."

The Syrian foreign minister said his government was growing impatient to recapture Idlib, the last region outside its control apart from the Kurdish-held north and northeast where Washington retains a troop presence.

Muallem said Turkey had failed to ensure the withdrawal of jihadist forces from a planned buffer zone along the front line as stipulated by the truce agreed in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi.

"It is known that Turkey is responsible for a delay in implementing" the deal, he said at a joint presser with his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza.

"Honestly, we are still waiting for the Sochi deal to be implemented but our patience has its limits and we must liberate this land.

"We are losing patience," he warned.

More than half of the population of the Idlib region have already fled government offensives on other rebel-held regions of Syria.

Many live in tent cities where they are dependent on humanitarian aid and deeply vulnerable to a resurgence of all-out conflict.
