🔊 On-air now at https://t.co/Xup8cdtnFB: We're talking with Omaha elder Nathan Phillips, who recounts how he and fellow indigenous marchers tried to defuse tensions between Catholic high school students and Black Hebrew Israelites in D.C., and the confrontation that followed pic.twitter.com/S4dRlKujOt
Wood told LifeSite the recipients of the notices “continues to grow in number” and the team is “in the process of sending formal written retraction demands in conformity with statutes in states in which litigation may be filed.”
According to the news source, the Diocese of Covington continues to investigate Sandmann and his classmates.
“We have no idea why the investigation by the Diocese has not been concluded but we are confident that any objective review of the evidence will conclude that Nick did nothing wrong,” Wood said, when asked about it.
“Nick remained calm and well-mannered despite being confronted by an activist beating a drum within inches of his face while chanting loudly,” the attorney continued. “Nick did not utter one word except to quietly urge a classmate to refrain from making any comments that might aggravate the situation created by Phillips and the Black Hebrew Israelites.”
Just as troubling, Wood said that school officials were preventing Sandmann from attending class until they intervened and “made clear to the school that we would not tolerate Nick being isolated and singled out based on specious claims.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Talks on border security funding collapsed after Democratic and Republican lawmakers clashed over immigrant detention policy as they worked to avert another U.S. government shutdown, a Republican senator said on Sunday.
"The talks are stalled right now," Republican Senator Richard Shelby told "Fox News Sunday." He said the impasse was over Democrats’ desire to cap the number of beds in detention facilities for people who enter the country illegally.
Efforts to resolve the dispute over border security funding extended into the weekend as a special congressional negotiating panel aimed to reach a deal by Monday, lawmakers and aides said.
Democratic Senator Jon Tester played down any breakdown in talks. "It is a negotiation. Negotiations seldom go smooth all the way through," he told the Fox program. Tester, one of 17 negotiators, said he was hopeful a deal could be reached.
But Shelby put the chances of reaching a deal by Monday at 50-50. No further talks were scheduled, a source told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
[FOXNEWS] Embattled Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Coonman Northam Governor of Virginia, another Dem Great White Hope. He won election by calling his Publican opponent Ed Gillespie a racist, but then, don't they all?... on Sunday vowed to remain in office because "there's no better person" to help the state "heal" from the multitude of scandals rocking its leadership than a doctor with his medical school credentials.
In the same interview with "CBS This Morning," Northam, whose medical school yearbook page featured one person in blackface and another in a KKK robe, suggested that Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax should resign if the two sexual-assault allegations leveled against him are proven true.
Northam also intimated that the state's Democratic attorney general, Mark Herring, should consider stepping aside because he admitted to dressing in blackface in college.
"I'm a leader," Northam told host Gayle King. "I've been in some very difficult situations, life-and-death situations, taking care of sick children. Right now, Virginia needs someone that can heal. There's no better person to do that than a doctor."

This clown has the political instincts of Tom Steyer, which is to say, are none. At this very moment both Fairfax and Herring are / ought to be devising multiple avenues in which to fuck Northam over and jack up the pressure to get him out of office. At least that's what I'd do if someone publicly threw me under a dump truck and then hit reverse.

None of this ends until any district that votes for a politician who resigns or is convicted of a crime goes unrepresented until the next election. Might get voter's and media's attention.

[POLITICO] Sen. Amy Klobuchar is pitching herself for the White House as the commonsense Midwestern answer to President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... ‐ while former staffers portray her as a brutal boss who mistreated them.
The run-up to Klobuchar’s expected presidential campaign launch on Sunday was sidetracked by former aides, speaking anonymously for fear of retribution, who described a toxic office environment including demeaning emails, thrown office supplies and requests for staff to perform personal chores for the senator. It’s a sharp departure from the public brand that Klobuchar has built to get to this moment: a pragmatic, aw-shucks Minnesotan who gets things done and wins her state by landslide margins.
Klobuchar defenders, including some former staffers, have gone on the record to push back against the reports, suggesting that the critique is grounded in sexism against a woman who demands excellence from her employees. Klobuchar’s campaign released statements saying she "loves her staff," citing aides who have "been with her for years."
But Klobuchar’s campaign has not denied any of the specific allegations detailed in recent news stories, and Democrats in the first caucus state of Iowa ‐ where Klobuchar hopes to make a splash in a crowded 2020 field ‐ have said the senator’s treatment of staff has the potential to sideswipe her campaign.

[CNSNEWS] Rep. Ilhan Omar Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She is apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw... (D.-Minn.) said in a Thursday morning hearing of the House Education and Labor Committee that the Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s gets paid $21.8 million a year while the median earnings for workers at the restaurant chain "who put in 40 hours a day" is $7000 per year.
The hearing was examining the possibility of lifting the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour.
On Thursday evening, Omar tweeted out a video clip of her talking at the hearing about McDonald's workers who put in "40 hours a day." Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D.-Mich.) then retweeted Omar’s tweet.
Omar made the remark‐which she then Tweeted in the video clip--in an exchange with Terrence Wise, a McDonald's worker from Missouri, who was testifying at the hearing.

In come the robotics. Many have them now. In Maryland it is being done now as the state considers minimum wage going to that magic cure all number $15.00. Walmart, Martins have gone that way currently but the public is not so easily pushed into it. Places like Dollar General are seeing dramatic increases in traffic. Then add price increases and the glow is lost for Walmart especially.Full cart checkouts for self checkouts is not going to happen. Online orders for pick up maybe but are you going to trust order is correct. Then who puts the stuff in the car and how far away do you have to park. Then returns?. New games to be played.Men are bucking this big time.

Re Dale's comments: The problem with self checkout is the work has just been transferred from the checker to the buyer. What's needed is a system where you push the shopping cart up against a TSA like security checkpoint scanner that empties the cart, scans the contents, packages them and sends them to a loading dock upon payment. Customer gets a claim check, walks to their car and drives to loading dock for assisted loading of their merchandise. This also solves the abandoned full cart when the credit card or EBT card doesn't deliver. I've seen that scenario too many times. Someone has to put all that stuff back and often the refrigerated stuff must be trashed. Order online for pickup at the store kills impulse buying and retailers rely on those sales too.

Tell me again about the virtues of Soviet central planning
Well, when I grew up in Soviet Union, my father was one of the two people capable of fixing a supermarket's meat freezer (central planning + nepotism + promoting local cadres) in a city of 1/4 million people - extrapolate.

Tell me again about the virtues of Soviet central planning
Tom Clancy wrote a good description of Soviet retail procedures in, I think, "Red Rabbit".
The inefficiency of the process was decried as something that consumers wouldn't put up with in the US..................my how things change.

$7,000 a year? In what universe? Assuming they make $7.25 an hour, the federal minimum wage (most states/large cities have substantially higher ones now), at 40 hours a week, taxes at 20% would leave you with just over $12,000 if you worked 52 weeks in a year. Which, lets be honest, everybody working for that wage and those hours does. Also, McDonalds in urban areas pays higher than that, and about half of those taxes would come back every year if they file a tax return (what is stolen by the social security tax never comes back).
[WSJ] Cory Spartacus Booker U.S. Senator-for-Life from Noo Joisey, formerly the mayor of Newark. Booker is a candidate for president in 2020, running on a platform of Make America Newark. He once wrote an essay on how to grope babes. He is noted for having an imaginary friend named T-Bone... is betting the path to the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination runs through young people and African-Americans‐the same groups that propelled Barack Obama I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody... ’s campaign.
Mr. Booker’s stump speech recalls "the greatest infrastructure program this country has ever seen, the Underground Railroad" and his family’s history of integrating a New Jersey suburb.
Meanwhile, ...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other shoulder...... the New Jersey senator embraces social media more than any other 2020 candidate. Alaeldin Dafalla, a 19-year-old political science major at University of Northern Iowa, said at Mr. Booker’s Waterloo event that his social media presence makes him more relatable than other politicians.
"I keep up with all his vegan meals," Mr. Dafalla said.
It’s part of Mr. Booker’s effort to place himself as the inheritor of Mr. Obama’s sunny political coalition, which could appeal to moderate suburban Republicans who abandoned their party in last year’s midterm elections that saw the Democrats retake control of the House.
"There’s a tribalism that comes where you don’t even care what comes out of the person’s mouth, if they are of the opposite political party, we start to tear them down," Mr. Booker, 49 years old, said. "It’s not going to work. We’re not going to solve our big political problems unless we find ways to reach out and work together."

[Townhall] Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) are on a roll. Both are far left members of Congress and have stepped in it from the get-go. First, they both support the viciously anti-Israel Boycotts, Disinvestment, Sanctions movement, which has been accused of anti-Semitism. Tlaib declared that House Democrats were going to "impeach the motherf**ker," regarding President Trump. And now Omar posted an anti-Semitic tweet that was so bad that even Chelsea Clinton had to call her out for it. The Washington Post has the backstory:
Republicans are focusing their ire at the two Muslim women in Congress, accusing them of anti-Semitism and pressuring Democratic leaders to rebuke the lawmakers as attitudes in the party toward Israel shift from unquestioned support.
The pressure on Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) is part of a larger GOP effort to drive a partisan wedge into the traditionally nonpartisan relationship between the United States and Israel. Republicans are casting themselves as the more resolute defender of Israel, heightening the party’s appeal to traditionally Democratic Jewish voters.
The Democratic Party’s renewed internal debate over Israel is certain to have repercussions in 2020 for congressional candidates as well as White House hopefuls challenging President Trump, whose unwavering support of Israel and recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital have won plaudits in the Jewish state.
So, how did Omar respond? By tweeting, "it’s all about the Benjamins." Yeah, a rather bigoted tweet, huh? CNN’s Jake Tapper also zeroed in on the anti-Semitic undertones in the tweet.

the Jewish Democrats in Minneapolis are really feeling it these day
the local Jewish weekly media (American Jewish World and TC Jewfolk) have basically covered up Omar's antisemitism as well as her perjury and illegal marriage. So has the Star Tribune, the local daily paper.
But Omar is making it hard for them to avoid this.
