[Al Jazeera] At least 20 Afghan civilians, including 12 children, were killed in an air raid targeting a Taliban ...Arabic for students... commander'>Taliban Überstürmbannführer in Afghanistan's eastern province of Kunar, local officials said.
Friday's attack, against a local Taliban Überstürmbannführer named Sharif Mawiya, was the latest in a series of operations targeting senior field commanders.
Several Taliban Überstürmbannführers have been killed since the beginning of December by Afghan forces, backed by US advisers and air power but the tactic has also increased the risk of civilian casualties.
Abdul Latif Fazly, a member of the provincial council, said eight women and 12 children were killed and more than 15 civilians maimed in the incident late on Friday.
Kunar governor Abdul Satar Mirzakwal said an operation by Afghan forces in the Sheltan district killed 38 Taliban and al-Qaeda members, including four foreign nationals, and maimed 12 more.
He said the operation targeted Sharif Mawiya, a commander believed to be a controller with the al-Qaeda group.
He said an unknown number of civilians were hit in the bombing but had no casualty details.
"We know that a number of civilians, including women and kiddies, have been killed but we are sending a fact-finding team," he said.
A spokeswoman for the NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants... -led Resolute Support mission said it had not carried out any air strikes in Kunar at the time of the incident. No comment was immediately available from the defence ministry.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A Taliban ...Arabic for students... myrmidon lost his both legs in a premature kaboom which was triggered by an improvised bomb. Bummer! You only get 36 virgins for that!
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East in a statement said the incident took place in Sarobi district of Kabul province on Friday.
The statement further added that a Taliban group member,Abdul Haq, who was assembling an improvised bomb, lost his both legs when the bomb went off prematurely.
According to 201st Silab Corps, the incident took place in Obzin Dara area of the district.
The Talibs and other murderous Moslems including ISIS often use improvised bomb as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces and government officials.
However, a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package... in majority of such attacks the ordinary civilians are killed while in some cases the Talibs are themselves blown up in premature kabooms.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Sources said that Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... militias have looted equipment, documents and goods owned by traders and investors in the port of Hodeidah ahead of an agreed-upon withdrawal from the city.
Foodstuffs, cars, supplies and other items that were on their way through the port were also stolen by the Houthis, sources confirmed.
Sources said that in the past three weeks, the city of Hodeidah has witnessed systematic plundering of government institutions as militias have replaced their uniforms with military ones, concealed their military vehicles and replaced them with other military colors as camouflage.
The looting comes two days after the signing of an agreement between the legitimate Yemeni government and the Houthis in Sweden, which provides for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of militias from the city and its ports, in addition to allowing access to aid to Taiz, which has been surrounded by Houthi militias for years.

[PULSE.NG] Seven non-combatants were killed as Indian troops fired on protesters Saturday after a shootout left three armed rebels and a soldier dead in the disputed region of Kashmire, police and hospital officials said.
The fighting erupted soon after troops laid siege to a house in the southern Pulwama area in Indian-administered Kashmire where the bully boyz were hiding, a police officer said.
Three separatists -- including a former soldier who had joined the rebels -- were killed in the fighting, which also left a member of the security forces dead, senior police officer Swayam Prakash Pani told AFP.
While the shootout was in progress, hundreds of villagers poured out on to the streets in freezing cold and marched towards the house, shouting slogans in support of the bully boyz and throwing stones at the troops, witnesses said.
"It was mayhem. Six protesters died in the ensuing firing by soldiers," a police officer told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity ... for fear of being murdered... Hospital officials said a seventh man died later of bullet injuries.
Saturday's bloodshed capped the deadliest year in the region since 2009, with nearly 550 killed so far including some 150 civilians, according to a monitoring group.
Security officials say some 230 bully boyz have been killed this year, most of them locals from the Kashmire valley, but rebel groups have recruited new members at a matching pace.
Popular support for the rebels and their cause has increased since the killing of a charismatic holy warrior leader in 2016.
Villagers, sometimes in their thousands, have been swarming sites of shootouts with government forces to help bully boyz escape from military cordons.

Ramadi (IraqiNews.com) Three Iraqi police members were killed on Saturday in a blast that hit their patrol in Iraq’s western province of Ramadi, media quoted security sources as saying.
Alsumaria News quoted the security source saying that an improvised explosive device (IED) hit a road security patrol in the city of Ramadi, killing and officer and two conscripts.
Iraqi police forces continue to hunt for remnant Islamic State extremists in Anbar, especially at the province’s desert areas where they sought shelter after the recapture of cities under their control in 2017.
[MAIL] Israel's army said Sunday it has uncovered another Hezbollah "attack tunnel" leading from Lebanon into its territory, the fourth since it started a search-and-destroy operation this month.
Israel says the Iranian-backed Shiite militant group has dug the infiltration tunnels for use in a future conflict, and the military has been working to eliminate them.
The latest tunnel crossing into northern Israel was exposed at the weekend, the army said in a statement.
As with the other tunnels, soldiers placed explosives in it to keep out militants from the Lebanese side, it said.
The military refused to give the exact location, stressing the tunnel did not "pose an imminent threat".
On December 4, the army announced an operation dubbed "Northern Shield" to destroy tunnels it said have been dug under the border by Hezbollah.
Israel fought a devastating war against Hezbollah in 2006 that was halted by a UN-brokered truce.
Hezbollah is the only group in Lebanon not to have disarmed after the country's 1975-1990 civil war.
"The Lebanese government is held accountable for the attack tunnels dug from Lebanese territory," the Sunday statement said.
"This is another blatant breach of UN Resolution 1701 and of Israeli sovereignty," it added, referring to the resolution ending the 2006 war.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the UN peacekeeping force in south Lebanon, UNIFIL, and international community should do more to curb Hezbollah's "acts of aggression against Israel".
UNIFIL has verified the existence of two of the tunnels Israel has exposed so far.
[Aljazeera] The Israeli army has demolished a residential building owned by a prominent Palestinian activist, whose six sons have been imprisoned by Israel.
The building, owned by Latifa Abu Hmeid, is located in the Amari refugee camp near the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.
According to an Anadolu news agency reporter based in the area, Israeli soldiers raided the camp early Saturday, surrounding the building before bringing it down in a controlled demolition.
Before razing the four-storey structure, the army evicted dozens of journalists and solidarity activists who had been inside the building in a bid to prevent its destruction.
Israel accused one of Abu Hmeid's sons of killing an Israeli soldier in May.
Protesters called the destruction a form of collective punishment.

Why did they empty the building? Raze it with the collaborators inside and they won't make trouble anymore.

[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian media says soldiers nab Muhammad Maher Barghouti, whose family member Salih Omar Barghouti was killed Wednesday during an attempt to arrest him.
Israeli undercover soldiers on Saturday night placed in durance vile Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! a Paleostinian with ties to the suspected terrorist in Sunday’s shooting attack outside the Ofra settlement, Paleostinian media reported.
Paleostinian reports said Muhammad Maher Barghouti was arrested in the West Bank village of Kobar, near Ramallah.
Barghouti is a relative of Salih Omar Barghouti, who was shot and killed Wednesday evening after he tried to attack troops while escaping arrest. Salih Barghouti, a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", member, is believed to have been behind a shooting outside Ofra Sunday in which seven people were maimed. That attack led to the death of a baby boy who was delivered prematurely after his mother was critically hurt in the attack.
There was no immediate Israeli confirmation of the arrest.
Barghouti came from a family with extensive terrorist ties, including a father and uncle who were convicted of murdering an Israeli soldier in 1978. The uncle, Nael Barghouti, is one of the longest-serving Paleostinian prisoners in Israel’s history.
On Thursday a senior Israel Defense Forces commander indicated that the same Hamas terror cell carried out the Ofra shooting and a shooting outside the Givat Assaf outpost in which two IDF soldiers were killed and two other people were seriously injured.
Earlier Saturday the IDF demolished the family home of a Paleostinian man charged with killing Israeli soldier Staff Sgt. Ronen Lubarsky earlier this year.
The IDF detonated explosives in the four-story building inhabited by the family of Islam Yusef Abu Hamid in the al-Am’ari refugee camp close to Ramallah.
Mahmoud al-Aloul, deputy chairman of the Fatah party, expressed support for Hamid’s family and said the Paleostinian Authority would pay for the home to be rebuilt, the Walla news site reported.
Hamid killed Staff Sgt. Ronen Lubarsky, a member of the elite Duvdevan unit, by dropping a marble slab on his head from a neighboring home during an IDF raid in May at the al-Am’ari refugee camp in Ramallah, according to the charge sheet.
Israel says the practice of demolishing terrorists’ homes is an effective means of discouraging future attacks, though it has been criticized by human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... groups as a form of collective punishment and by some analysts as an ineffective deterrent measure.
Also Saturday a Paleostinian man who stabbed an Israeli soldier and hit him in the head with a rock Friday at a West Bank military post, seriously injuring him, turned himself in to Israeli security forces, Israel’s Shin Bet security agency said.
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian man who stabbed an Israeli soldier and hit him in the head with a rock Friday at a West Bank military post, seriously injuring him, turned himself in to Israeli security forces Saturday, Israel’s Shin Bet security agency said.
The agency said the man had surrendered thanks to the "continuous and concerted operational efforts" by the IDF and the Shin Bet in the West Bank over the weekend.
The suspect was taken in for questioning.
The attack occurred at a military post outside the Beit El settlement in the central West Bank.
The Israel Defense Forces said a fight broke out between the two after the Paleostinian attacker broke into the military position near Beit El, outside Ramallah, where Israeli forces have been searching for the terrorist who committed a shooting attack on Thursday, killing two soldiers and seriously injuring a third serviceman and a civilian woman.
The assailant stabbed the soldier and struck him with a rock, the army said. He then expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, prompting a manhunt.
The 21-year-old soldier, Naveh Rotem, was taken to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem at death's door, unconscious and hooked up to a ventilator. Doctors said he was in life-threatening condition.
On Saturday doctors said Rotem’s condition had improved and stabilized and he was listed in moderate condition.
The attack took place close to the site of Thursday’s deadly terror shooting at a bus stop near the Givat Assaf outpost.
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli Navy opened fire Saturday at a Paleostinian man who crossed the permitted fishing zone near the shore of the northern Gazoo Strip.
The man was evacuated to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon in mild-to-moderate condition for emergency treatment, the Ynet news site reported.
Israeli security forces detained three additional Paleostinians suspected of deviating from the permitted fishing zone, according to Ynet.
[PhilStar] Philippine authorities yesterday confirmed that the Abu Sayyaf death toll in a recent clash in Patikul, Sulu has increased to seven from three as earlier reported. The encounter on Minis Island on December 13 also left a Marine trooper dead and three others injured.
Ten rebels were captured in a pursuit operation in a mangrove area where the fighting erupted, according to Rear Admiral Rene Medina, commander of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM). He said the Navy’s BRP Juan Magluyan and BRP Waray were deployed to reinforce the pursuing troops and prevent the insurgents from escaping.
Medina attributed the success of the military operation to the cooperation between the military and the local officials as well as the villagers.

(IraqiNews.com) The Syrian Democratic Forces published, on Saturday, a video footage showing members of the Islamic State while fleeing the battle, east of Deir Ezzor, and abandoning their leader.
The page of the Syrian Democratic Forces stated that it got the footage from a “Ku-Pro” Camera, which was fixed on the head of Leader of the ISIS militants, Abu Ayman al-Iraqi, who was killed during the clashes.
Furthermore, it added that the ISIS militants abandoned their leader, who was badly injured, and left him to suffer for hours before dying.
It is noteworthy that large number of the Islamic State leaders were killed, since the SDF announced, three months ago, launching its offensive to retake the last stronghold of the ISIS in the areas of Albagouzm Abulkhater, Abulhassan, Hajin, Sha’fa and Sousa.

The video, which has been filmed with a forehead camera, shows several ISISLions of Islam in an open terrain near the town of Hajin, which lies in the Abu Kamal district of the eastern Syrian province of Dayr al-Zawr, firing indiscriminate shots at the US-backed forces.

Iraqi, in return, refuses and commands ISISLions of Islam to carry on fighting.
The Lions of Islam at last decide to abandon their commander and escape from the area onboard a military vehicle.
Iraqi, who is badly injured in the fierce exchange of gunfire with Kurdish-led forces, died of his gunshot wounds hours later.
