[National Review] When put under oath, he suddenly becomes much less certain. Fired former FBI director James Comey is at it again.
Last week, Comey testified before members of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. In a single appearance, Comey, on 245 separate occasions, while under oath, stonewalled questions with "I don’t know," "I don’t remember" or "I don’t recall," according to a congressional interrogator, Representative Jim Jordan (R., Ohio).
If any private citizen tried Comey’s gambit with federal IRS auditors or FBI investigators, he would likely be indicted for perjury or obstruction.
Why did Comey, the nation’s former top-ranking federal investigator, avoid telling "the whole truth and nothing but the truth" while under oath?
The answer is, unfortunately, obvious. Comey has been called to testify before members of Congress on numerous occasions. He has written a long book and gone on an extensive book tour, and his paper trail is long.
He tweets almost daily and is often on television, and in those venues, he never seems to admit to any memory lapse. And Comey has been at the center of every major scandal involving the 2016 election.

Actually smart move by Comey. Refusing to answer is contempt, actually answering risks perjury, but there's no way to prove he remembers if he says he does not. Plus, it worked for Hillary.
[TheFederalist] In a recent item for The Federalist, David Harsanyi considered the M16 rifle one of the five most innovative firearms in American firearm development history. Yet something equally significant can be said about the semi-automatic AR-15 derived from the M16. Second to the muskets used in our revolutionary and civil wars, the AR-15 may be the most important firearm in American political history.
All told, more Americans have fired more rounds from more AR-15s for personal defense, defensive firearm training, marksmanship competitions, individual practice, and hunting than from any other rifle. For that reason, the AR-15 is the primary firearm upon which Americans would rely if they had to fight for freedom today.
Here are 10 reasons to own at least one AR-15 and to become skilled in its use.

If you fall into these categories, you should probably own -
10 U.S. Code § 246 - Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and (2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

#1 that's the reason my wife gave some years ago ("Because THEY don't want me to") when all her liberal friends and relatives asked her why in the world she would want a gun. (So sad they got lost in the flood...)

With this many ARs out there the government fears the people, the way the constitution says it should be. Everyone should own one, and a few thousand rounds.....

[AmericanThinker] The Crimea and Eastern Ukrainian conflicts are two of many ethnic conflicts that have become common in the post-Cold War period. In many countries arbitrarily created after the Second World War the unifying principle was the power of the state that forced citizens to tolerate a plethora of incompatibilities. Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and Ukraine are prime products of this geopolitical engineering.
The collapse of the Soviet Union and the subsequent demise of the so-called "socialist camp" resulted in weakening or overthrowing the authoritarian regimes. The absence of enforcement gave rise to nationalistic aspirations that challenge the cohesiveness of the established order, in some instances, to the point of no order at all.
Modern Ukraine is an agglomeration of the territories of the original Ukrainian People's Republic created after the disintegration of the Russian Empire in 1917 and the neighboring countries with some historical and cultural links to Ukraine, and Novo-Russia, or Eastern Ukraine. The most recent addition was Crimea, which Nikita Khrushchev, with proletarian generosity and in violation of the Soviet Constitution, transferred to Ukraine.
After the collapse of the USSR, the Russian population of Crimea and Eastern Ukraine found itself trapped under Ukrainian rule. Pro-Russian sentiments ‐ ranging from the recognition of the official status of the Russian language to outright secession ‐ have always been prevalent in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine and are the roots of the current conflict.
...Usually, in conflicts, each side is pursuing an outcome incompatible with the strategic ambition of its adversary. In this case, however, neither Petro Poroshenko nor Vladimir Putin wants Eastern Ukraine. Putin could occupy Eastern Ukraine within 48 hours and face no resistance. Poroshenko could accept a limited autonomy for the belligerent East, which it demanded from the outset, and avoid a bloody conflict altogether.
But the rulers in Kiev are not motivated by "one country, one destiny"; they are not motivated by concern for the stability and integrity of Ukraine. Rather, they are moved by billions in financial aid. The aspiration of Poroshenko and his cronies is to become in some sense the Palestinians of Europe, victims of Russian aggression, just as the actual Palestinians are perceived as being victims of Israel. Defeated by superior force, they want the E.U. to adopt them and make Ukraine a black hole for billions of dollars and euros, with no end in sight.

And for this reason I refuse to get excited about Putin's annexation of Crimea. Lemme know when he invades Poland.

Last Saturday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union Party voted down a motion to freeze funding for the Palestinian Authority until it stops its "pay to slay" imbursements to terrorists and their families. The motion stated that "with the payments, the PA knowingly and willingly supports terror against Israel and makes this a worthy financial business." But Merkel’s party wasn’t moved.
One day later, a Palestinian terror attack seriously wounded a pregnant woman. The baby, who was delivered in an emergency procedure, held out for a few days and died on Wednesday.
[Townhall] You should not for a moment fail to appreciate the risk posed to your freedom by left-wing It-Fascists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Beto O’Rourke. There’s an undeniable appeal of this kind of Potemkin Politician for the kind of morons that the Democrats count on at the ballot box. Sure, the Nitwit Naïf is ridiculously ignorant and dumb ‐ she knows nothing and demonstrates no capacity to learn anything. Sure, Tex Kennedy is a meat puppet dancing on the strings held by his masters. But this is the same country where the voters elected Barack Obama, twice.
...Remember that a plurality of the voters voted for Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit; the Electoral College is not going to save our freedom forever. We need to get woke to the threat and act accordingly.
...The point is not to draw some false equivalence between these two media darlings and the president, because they represent very different situations.
...AOC and Beto are something entirely different. They will be protected by the media, and actively covered for. That’s because they are elite catspaws disguised as radical disrupters. Though they attempt to speak the language of outsiders, every single thing they propose is exactly in line with the desires of the elite establishment.

Beto is as crooked as they come. The press buried his drunk driving, evading, IRS money laundering by him in his mom's business, selling out the barrio to profit his father in law the richest man in elpaseo, and voting like Nancy Pelosi's personal butt boy.
Put an (R) by that name and the press would have a lynch mob.
SATIRE ALERT
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐Talks between President Trump and Democratic leaders Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi took a rocky turn this week. Trump had watched the Christopher Nolan movie Interstellar the previous night, which led to a heated argument in which Trump finally threatened a government shutdown if the Democrats did not give him a satisfactory explanation of the movie’s ending.
"And where were the space aliens that were guiding Matthew McConaughey the whole time?" Trump demanded.
"It was McConaughey guiding himself the whole time," Schumer explained.
"McConaughey was an alien the whole time?"
"There were no aliens!"
"I’m serious! I will gladly shut this government down if you don’t show me the aliens from Interstellar!" Trump finally threatened.
Pelosi tried to explain to Trump that a closed time loop was a common science fiction trope. Pelosi furthermore tried to argue the theme of the movie really was love, but Trump was having none of that and just wanted to know how that tesseract thing was made in the black hole.
Occasionally, Vice President Mike Pence would comment that he hadn’t seen the movie and wanted to avoid spoilers, but he was ignored.
One particular point of contention was Trump’s assertion that the planet that Matt Damon’s character was rescued from was Mars, as Trump insisted he distinctly remembered that’s where Damon had been stranded. The Democrats were eventually able to convince Trump that he was conflating two different movies. The government still seems headed for a shutdown, though, as no one was able to give Trump a satisfactory answer of why, instead of going into space, people didn’t just farm blight-free food "in a biosphere or something."

[American Thinker] President Trump clearly shocked House speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer yesterday with his televising of the Oval Office sit-down over his demand for $5 billion in funding for border security, including funding of critical mileage for his border wall. Knowing well that Pelosi had already vowed publicly that "transparency and openness" would characterize the Democrat-run House starting next month, her plaintive request to speak in private scored points for Trump and revealed her hypocrisy before any substance at all was considered.
The remarkable body language during the meeting tells the story of Trump's dominance. Here is the full video of the press gaggle, via Grabien:
[Hot Air] This is a subject which popped up on Twitter this morning and even though it deals with a story that more than a year old it’s worth a quick look. The subject at hand deals with an article in Vox (I know... I know...) from last October which cites a report from Statnews that same year. It deals with a pharmacist in the Washington area who is quoted as revealing some health information about members of Congress without naming any names. He sees some of the members regularly, filling prescriptions for them, and allegedly some of those medications are for Alzheimer’s Disease.

...If they do, 1)they sure as hell won't admit it, 2)it's Trump's fault, and 3)if you think the Kavanaugh hearings brought out the worst in the Democratic Party, wait till you see them try to defend/cover/take advantage of a senior member who's losing it due to Alzheimer's.

Ginsburg is in better mental shape than a whole lot of Congress critters. And to her credit, she has always been consistent and reasoned, even though I usually disagree with her. Can't say that for Roberts, for instance.
[Ynet] It is bewildering that some believe Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, can be appeased despite Hezbollah proving that Jihad forces need no excuse for their propagation of destruction; Hezbollah is also world's largest crime organization but Obama chose a conciliatory policy ignoring their drug smuggling, money laundering.
If Israel only eliminated the blockade of the Gazoo Strip, there will be neither rockets nor tunnels. The Strip will flourish. There will be no confrontations. This argument, which is prevalent in certain circles, in the world and in Israel, should be examined against the backdrop of Operation Northern Shield.
Well, Israel is not imposing any blockade on Leb, which is controlled by Hezbollah. There is no historical conflict with the Lebanese people. Leb has even been the focal point of tourism in the Arab world for many years; great beaches, restaurants, and a dazzling nightlife ‐ a paradise.
But Leb has an Iranian element: Hezbollah. And they are building a network of missiles and tunnels, just like in the south, in the context of their profound hatred for the West, including Israel and the Jews.
Turning to Hamas for a moment, we must ask: Will the Gazoo Strip begin to flourish once the blockade is lifted? Will Hamas change its skin?
Hezbollah provides us with the answer. It is not about the blockade or a particular conflict, nor is it a border dispute. It is the abhorrent hatred that permeates the Jihad organizations, Sunni and Shiite alike.
Additional Videos
After all, this happens wherever Jihad advocates gain power or take over, even in countries, and in fact, especially in countries where there is no significant presence of Americans, Jews, or Europeans. After all, Hezbollah can allow Leb to thrive and prosper. But it prefers to invest all its resources in the death industry.
The confrontation will come. And even assuming that Israel will be hit and suffer, and it will be hit, Leb will return to the Middle Ages. And despite the obvious outcome, Hezbollah continues.
It is not clear why anyone thinks that Hamas is any different from Hezbollah. That does not mean that Hamas should not be offered a generous deal on the basis of "rehabilitation in return for demilitarization." But all we have to do is look at Hezbollah, in order to know that Hamas' response is obvious.
NARCOSRALLA
Hezbollah is not only an international terrorist organization, it is also an international criminal organization. Much of the organization's income comes from cocaine trade. President Obama, upon his election, adopted a conciliatory policy and declared intention to engage in dialogue and integrate Hezbollah into Lebanese politics.
In 2008, five years before he was appointed head of the CIA, John Brennan wrote a position paper that outlines the new appeasement policy toward Iran and Hezbollah. "The president must implement a policy of integration that encourages the moderates," he wrote.
It is possible that appeasement can work. But as far as Iran and Hezbollah are concerned, their appetite is only growing. Instead of restraint, Iran stuck its long arms throughout the Middle East, to Yemen, Syria, and total control over Leb through Hezbollah.
And furthermore, the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) exposed the huge drug trafficking and money laundering network of Hezbollah as part of Operation Cassandra. Hezbollah, in conjunction with Latin American narco mobs, committed crimes on American soil. But the US administration decided that appeasement is more important than combating crime and terrorism, and instructed its agencies to turn a blind eye so as not to irritate the monster and not distract from signing the nuclear agreement with Iran.
John Kelly, the man who headed the Cassandra operation, claims that "Hezbollah is one of the largest transnational crime organizations in the world." But gradually it became clear to him and the FBI agents dealing with issues related to Iran that their work was for naught. The matter was revealed last year in a detailed, worldwide report by Politico magazine, which apparently gave immunity to the monster. The Obama doctrine apparently gave immunity to the monster.

"It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead."
Pretty much covers it, I think.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The drums of war are beating between Hezbollah and Israel. All of a sudden, Israel has announced military operations on its northern borders. The operation called ’Northern Shield’ has led to escalation on both sides amidst anticipation of new surprises in the coming weeks.
The imminent end of the Syrian conflict has placed Israel in a difficult situation as Iranian forces and Hezbollah are now deployed in provinces close to Israeli borders. When Operation Northern Shield started on 6th of December 2018 to destroy Hezbollah’s underground tunnels, the decision to kick off such an operation was deemed hazardous by some experts.
Such an operation will not stop over the issue of underground tunnels as Israel would seek to destroy the military infrastructure of Hezbollah to prevent its members from targeting Israel. All political and military indicators confirm that what is happening near the Lebanese-Israeli border is only a prelude to a fierce war.
