Kenya says 5 police officers killed, 3 injured in explosive device attack
[AlAhram] Five coppers were killed in eastern Kenya on Wednesday when their vehicle hit an improvised bomb suspected to have been planted by Somalia's al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia...
group, an official said.

Al-Shabaab is fighting to topple Somalia's government, establish their own rule based on their strict interpretation of Islamic law and drive out of the country peacekeepers deployed by the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
The murderous Moslems frequently launch attacks in neighbouring Kenya to pressure it to withdraw its troops which form part of the peacekeeping force.

Harun Kamau, Deputy County Commissioner in the region, told Rooters the coppers were in a vehicle conducting patrols in Harar village, in Liboi town near the Kenya-Somalia border, when the vehicle hit the device.

"We suspect the improvised bomb had been planted by al-Shabaab group to target our security team, Kamau said."

The kaboom occurred at around 9 a.m. local Kenyan time and a total of eight coppers were aboard the vehicle.

"It is unfortunate we have lost five coppers while three of their colleagues survived but are critically injured," he said.

The injured officers were airlifted to the Kenyan capital Nairobi for further treatment.

group Death Eaters.

The strike was carried out in coordination with the internationally recognised government in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, a statement from U.S. Africa Command said.

"At this time, we assess no non-combatants were killed in this strike," the statement said. It gave no information on the identity of those targeted.

Photos shared by a local source in Bani Walid showed a white all-terrain vehicle that he said had been hit in the strike. The vehicle was streaked with blood and the roof and one of the sides had been shredded.

One of those killed in the strike was Abd al-Aati Ashtaiwy, a Libyan who had travelled to Syria and had previously been based in Sirte, which Islamic State controlled from 2015-2016, according to the Bani Walid source and local reports.

The United States gave air support to Libyan forces that drove Islamic State from Sirte in 2016, and has continued to launch occasional strikes against suspected gunnies in Libya since the end of that campaign.

Bani Walid is about 150 km (93 miles) south of Tripoli.

130 people killed, wounded as dual bomb attack targets Shiite mosque in Baghdad
Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) ‐ At least 130 people were killed and maimed Wednesday in a deadly kaboom near a Shiite mosque in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a security source was quoted as saying.

"Two bombs went off near an ammunition cache placed in a Shiite mosque in the Shiite bastion of Sadr City in Baghdad, leaving 20 people killed so far," the source told Alghad Press.

"Up to 110 people were also maimed as a result of the kaboom," the source pointed out, adding that security forces rushed to the blast site and opened a probe into the matter.

No group has so far grabbed credit for the attack, but the Islamic State

IDF shot dead Palestinian teen during violent riots in Nabi Saleh
[Jpost] An IDF soldier fatally shot Izz ad-Din Tamimi, 21, during a violent clash in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh on Wednesday.

Soldiers had entered the village to arrest a suspect, according to the IDF. A group of more than 10 Paleostinians threw stones at them and the army responded with riot dispersal methods.

According to the army, Tamimi threw a stone that hit a solider in the head. That soldier responded by firing at Tamimi, who was then treated medically at the scene before being declared dead.

Nabi Saleh is located across the road from the Halamish settlement in the Binyamin region.

Residents often hold protests against Israel that end in violent festivities with the IDF.

The village is also home to many members of the Tamimi clan, the most famous of whom is Ahed Tamimi,
...the blond, blue-eyed maiden who along with siblings and young cousins has made a hobby of being videotaped screaming at Israeli soldiers, no doubt urged on by her papa, Bassem Tamimi, a well-known Fatah activist...
17, who was tossed in the slammer

last year after she slapped a soldier who was standing outside her home and barring people from entering.

A video of her slapping the soldier was one several recordings in which she can be seen accosting soldiers in Nabi Saleh.

Separately in West Bank raids overnight, security forces including the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), the Border Police and the Israel Police arrested seven Paleostinians who are suspected of terrorism.

[IsraelTimes] Firefighters have worked to put out fires in 22 different locations along the Gazoo border that were apparently started by incendiary kites flown from the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run coastal enclave.

Syria opens Homs-Hama highway after near 7-year closure due to war
[AlAhram] The Syrian government re-opened the highway between the cities of Homs and Hama on Wednesday a month after its forces retook a rebel-held pocket that had straddled the road that was closed for almost seven years.

Motorists waved Syrian flags as they drove down the highway whose re-opening marked a victory for Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
, who in recent months has taken control of all rebel-held pockets around the capital Damascus as well as the enclave along the highway which had been under siege for years.

From holding less than a fifth of Syria in 2015, Assad, with Russian and Iranian help, has recovered control of the largest chunk of the country.

Without the highway, traffic had to take an indirect route to travel the 45 km (30 miles) between Syria's third and fourth largest pre-war cities.

Residents from Talbiseh, a town just north of Homs controlled by rebels until early May, said they were relieved to see the highway re-open.

"If we wanted to go to Homs before, we had to go half way round the world," said 42-year-old farmer Hussein al-Muhammad. "Now it will just take us quarter of a hour."

Another Talbiseh farmer, 61-year-old Hamoud Alloush, said he had survived the years of siege by eating what he could grow. He had already been to Homs and back to sell his produce on Wednesday.

"(The journey) used to take more than two hours," he said.

Significant areas of Syria still remain beyond Assad's grasp, including nearly all of the north, much of the east, and a chunk of the southwest, areas where foreign interests will complicate further gains.
