[CNN] An Army veteran says Sen. Al Franken groped her in December 2003, telling CNN that while she was deployed in Kuwait, the Minnesota Democrat cupped her breast during a photo op.
Stephanie Kemplin, 41, of Maineville, Ohio, is the fifth woman in two weeks to accuse Franken of inappropriate touching, and the second person to allege that such behavior took place while Franken was on a USO tour. Three of the five women have been identified by name.
Kemplin said while she was stationed in the Middle East during the Iraq War, she met Franken -- at the time, a comedian and writer -- as he was visiting American troops with the USO. A longtime fan of "Saturday Night Live," Kemplin got in line to take a photo with Franken.
"When he put his arm around me, he groped my right breast. He kept his hand all the way over on my breast," Kemplin said in an interview. "I've never had a man put their arm around me and then cup my breast. So he was holding my breast on the side."
Kemplin repeatedly used the word "embarrassed" to describe her immediate reaction at the time.

Franken used to sit alone and swill Long Island Teas at a friend's country bar outside of Chisago, MN on highway 8. Hazelden treatment center is 10 minutes further down the road towards Taylors Falls on the way to Wisconsin.
I've always wondered what the hell the Frankengropster was doing so far from his Twin Cities's home. The only thing that comes to mind is that he may have been visiting his wife during her alcohol recovery.
Anyways that is a bad stretch of road to drive drunk on. Not to mention the thought process. "Heh honey I'm a supporting ya. Mind if I leave early so I can go get drunk?"
Dirtbag plan and simple. Wonder what would happen if that story became public.
[DAWN] A court in Sweden on Thursday sentenced a Swedish man to 10 years in prison for coercing teenagers in Canada, Britannia and the United States to perform sexual acts in front of webcams by threatening them or their families.
The Uppsala City Court said that Bjorn Samstrom was guilty of online sexual offences against 27 children between 2015 and early 2017.
The 41-year-old had threatened to post photos of his victims on porn sites or kill their relatives unless they performed sexual acts as he watched in Sweden.
It was the first time in Sweden that a person had been convicted of rape when the sexual assaults took place over the internet.
Under Swedish law rape doesn't have to involve intercourse. It can be another act that's considered equally violating.

[DailyMail] The researchers, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, say the number of neurons in an animal's cerebral cortex is a hallmark of intelligence.
The cortex is the largest layer of the brain and is associated with a range of complex behavioural characteristics.
Researchers found that dogs possess around 530 million cortical neurons, while cats only have around 250 million.
By comparison, a human brain houses around 16 billion cortical neurons.
'I believe the absolute number of neurons an animal has, especially in the cerebral cortex, determines the richness of their internal mental state and their ability to predict what is about to happen in their environment based on past experience,' study lead author Dr Herculano-Houzel told Vanderbilt University's news site.
The researchers applied their intelligence theory to several carnivorous species, and found that bigger brains do not necessarily mean more cortical neurons.

It's been my unscientific observation that the only problem with dogs is they do not live long enough, while a nasty cat can apparently live forever.

Cats may appear at times to interact with humans on an emotional level but I wouldn't bet on it. Of course 100% of canines do so instinctively.

Well, it's been known for a long time that dogs have family but cats have staff.
Couple of the truest statements I've come across. Have a cat who is sharper than cheddar, and will coordinate with myself and the dog (aussie shepherd) in checking out noises.
....then there are the other two cats...(shakes head)...dumber than a bag of bowling pins.

Dawgs are only animal that could keep pace with the long sojourns early humans were prone too. House cats arrived having rode along or carried as kittens, possibly on a pillow.

My experience is that cats are not dumb, just insane. I had one that was really nutz - he would crouch on top of the refrigerator and whack people going past. Scared the sh*t out of folks.

I once watched our pet cat tear into a bowl of raw potato peelings. He was really hungry and swallowed several mouthsful before he realized what he had done. When we started laughing at his mistake, he folded his ears back, slunk away & hid his face for quite a while.

That same cat liked to stay away from home for days at a time, or at least, refused to come inside when we called for him before we went to bed. He pulled this one subzero night, and we thought he would freeze to death. Next morning we heard him yowling from the fireplace flue, where the metal damper door was just above the fireplace. He had climbed up on the roof & come down the chimney like Santa Claus. Saved his own life, he did. Took him a few days to get all the soot out of his fur.

That just mean Cats have a wicked sense of fun Spot.
Saw a documentary once about cats and their senses and how they literally perceive things quite differently than we do. From their sense of smell, eyesight, sense of balance, etc... Was interesting.
Dogs have more brain cells to track important things like licking themselves, the butt-smell of all their buddies, etc...

I felt it here, about 60 miles north of the epicenter. Two very loud "THUD"s a few seconds apart with some vertical movement of the floor, but no horizontal shaking.

[GunAmerica] The Honolulu Police Department is demanding that medical marijuana users turn over their firearms.
In a letter dated Nov. 13, Police Chief Susan Ballard drew a line in the sand. It’s either your weed or your guns.
"Your medical marijuana use disqualifies you from ownership of firearms and ammunition," the letter reads.
"If you currently own or have any firearms," it continues, "you have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to voluntary surrender your firearms, permit, and ammunition to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) or otherwise transfer ownership."

Sorry, lost in a surfing accident.
Anyways, rights to firearms is explicate and precedes these commerce controls. Ammunition? Cartridges are inherently safer than scissors other than throwing them into campfires. Your ass is showing, who is the law group here?

The problem is they will come and take them. Assualt style, and likely kill anyone in the home in the process to avoid having lawsuits and witnesses. These are Democrats we are talking about, they have no hesitation or second thoughts about killing you for your own good and to demonstrate their power. They re convinced they are right and anyone that disagrees with them is wrong, therefore evil, and therefore subject to whatever force they decide to use whether appropriate or not.

This is a fine point -- federal law prohibits you from *buying* a firearm if you are an illegal (under federal law) user of MJ, but does it prevent you from *owning* a firearm? Anyone know?
[ALMASDARNEWS] Two former bosses of the Venezuelan petroleum industry have been tossed in the calaboose Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! by security forces on Thursday, according to official sources.
The two detainees are Nelson Martinez, ex-chief of state oil company PDVSA, and former Minister for Oil Eulogio del Pino. According to Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab, the two high-ranking officials were arrested as part of a security operation in order to "to dismantle the cartel that has been hitting the oil industry."
The attorney further stated that the operation is being carried out by the Military Counterintelligence Unit, and that in total 14 people are being investigated, some of whom are not living in the country at the moment.
"We hope they will be delivered to Venezuelan justice," Saab said.
The arrests come a week after similar sanctions were taken against six executives of Citgo Petroleum Corp, the US-based subsidiary of PDVSA, who were arrested on suspicion of having accepted bribes of over $50 million.
The functions of both Martinez and del Pino are taken over by Manuel Quevedo, a staunch supporter of Maduro. Quevedo has defended the purge of the two former oil bosses, accusing them of planning an economical sabotage of the nation.
"This sabotage plan is aimed at achieving a repeat of 2002-03 when there was an attempted coup against Chavez," Quevedo stated during an OPEC meeting in Vienna.

Japan’s coast guard on Thursday boarded a North Korean fishing boat near a Japanese island where the crew said they had taken shelter from rough seas, the latest in a series of North Korean vessels in distress drifting into Japanese waters.
The wooden boat was towed nearer the northern island of Hokkaido for inspection, a coast guard spokesman said. Authorities had yet to decide what to do with the vessel and the ten fishermen on board.
"At this point, it is still too early to say what we will do," he said.
Experts say food shortages may be driving fishermen to risk taking their small boats to more dangerous waters closer to Japan. The encounters have attracted greater attention amid tension in the region over North Korea’s weapons programs and its latest missile test on Wednesday.
There has been no suggestion that the fishermen may be defectors from the impoverished, tightly controlled country which has fired two missiles over Japan in recent tests and regularly threatens to destroy the United States.
On Monday, eight bodies believed to be of North Koreans, which had been partly reduced to skeletons, were found in a small wooden ship washed up on a beach on Japan’s northwest coast. Two other bodies were found at the weekend on the western shore of the Sea of Japan island of Sado, with life jackets displaying Korean lettering.
Last week, police in northern Japan found eight North Korean men who said they landed after claiming their vessel had lost power and run into trouble.
On Thursday, the coast guard issued an advisory to shipping about a half-sunken wooden boat floating in waters close to Sado.

[DAWN] The United States (US) warned North Korea's leadership will be "utterly destroyed" if war breaks out but its call for nations to cut ties with Pyongyang was rejected by Moscow while Beijing sidestepped talk of an oil embargo.
Washington urged tough action at an emergency meeting of the Security Council held Wednesday to respond to North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
"The dictator of North Korea made a choice yesterday that brings the world closer to war, not farther from it," US Ambassador Nikki Haley ...Trump administration's ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems... told the council. "If war comes, make no mistake: The North Korean regime will be utterly destroyed."
But her call for nations to "cut off all ties with North Korea" was rejected by Moscow, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov saying Russia saw the proposal "negatively".
"We have repeatedly stated that the pressure of sanctions has been exhausted," Lavrov told news hounds in Minsk on Thursday.
US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... derided Kim Jong-Un as a "sick puppy" and threatened "major" new sanctions after Pyongyang tested its third ICBM ─ which it claimed was capable of striking anywhere in the US.

The condition of the defector who successfully escaped to South Korea was an embarrassment to Fat Boy. It also gave the impression that due to the poor health condition of his military personnel as the defector was NORK military, he had to play his strongest card to date, a true ICBM capability.

[Fayetteville Observer] WASHINGTON ‐ The Army’s Special Warfare Center and School has launched an investigation into an anonymous email that accused its leaders of "moral cowardice" for ditching training standards and allowing undeserving soldiers to become members of elite Green Beret teams.
The sharply critical message was sent earlier this week to a wide swath of the Army’s Special Forces community. The nearly 6,300-word message declared that the school’s senior officers and enlisted leaders are primarily interested in advancing their careers by meeting demands for greater numbers of Green Berets and enforcing "political agendas."
Maj. Gen. Kurt Sonntag, commanding general of the school located at Fort Bragg, on Thursday defended the process for selecting Green Berets and rejected a number of the claims in the email. He said he stands firmly behind the "quality of every soldier we are sending to the operational force," in a statement delivered to "men and women" of the Special Warfare Center and School.
Sonntag also said comments in the email "warrant further evaluation" and that is being done through "formal inquiries and a number of existing institutional forums." He wasn’t more specific, however.
The anonymous email said the push to hit unrealistic quotas has led to a "dangerously less capable" force as dozens of flawed Green Beret candidates are nonetheless graduated. The message said instructors who’ve sought to hold students accountable for their academic, physical and character performance have been instead muzzled or punished.

Please tell me the SEALS aren't doing this.
Kinda makes me wonder about all of those SF casualties we've been taking...maybe part of the problem is they are not properly trained and qualified for what they were doing???
