[NY Post] Explosive actor Alec Baldwin had another epic meltdown on the streets of New York this week. Bad things also happen to good people.
A fellow pedestrian at University Place and 11th Street tells us that the "30 Rock" star was seen in a verbal exchange with a presumably reckless motorist that included insults and soft-drink throwing.
"Baldwin called the driver of a big black SUV ’a meatball’ and kept asking him and the passenger to get out," said the witness, who noticed the incident after it had already begun. Perhaps there's an extra cot, wherever Harvey Weinstein is now staying.

He is a nobody. He deserves zero press on this site, or any site. The media on both sides needs to ignore attention whores and leave people like Baldwin to episodes of cops!

[CNN] As allegations of rape, abuse, and other forms of sexual misconduct against him mount, Harvey Weinstein's wife of a decade has announced she's leaving him.
Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman told People magazine in a statement on Tuesday that she was separating from Weinstein with whom she shares two young children.
"My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions," the statement read. "I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time."
Chapman has not responded to CNN requests for comment.
The announcement was made hours after an explosive New Yorker magazine story alleged that Weinstein had raped multiple women. The report also included new allegations of harassment and other improper behavior.
A spokeswoman for Weinstein denied the rape allegations in a statement provided to CNN.
"Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein," the statement read. "Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances."

Weinstein is no longer part of the Hollywood "casting couch" joke circuit. Perhaps he and Woody Allen can compare notes over a scotch in Beaulieu-sur-Mer. I doubt Harvey will be coming back to the U.S. soon.

I heard a lady divorce lawyer comment "Of course she's leaving him. She needs to protect %50 of the money for herself." BTW the lawsuits have already started.
[CBSNews] A maintenance worker ... told hotel dispatchers to call police and report a gunman had opened fire with a rifle inside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino hotel before the shooter began firing from his high-rise suite into a crowd at a nearby musical performance. ...
Worker Stephen Schuck says he was checking out a report of a jammed fire door on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay when he heard gunshots and a hotel security guard, who had been shot in the leg, peeked out from an alcove and told him to take cover.
"As soon as I started to go to a door to my left the rounds started coming down the hallway," Schuck said. "I could feel them pass right behind my head.
"It was kind of relentless so I called over the radio what was going on," he said. "As soon as the shooting stopped we made our way down the hallway and took cover again and then the shooting started again."
[DailyMail] The Las Vegas sheriff leading the investigation into America's worst mass shooting has said 'we may never know' what motivated Stephen Paddock to kill 58 people.
Joe Lombardo said and exam of Paddock's brain has revealed 'no abnormalities' while girlfriend Marilou Danley had 'no concerns' over his mental health.
Detectives have contacted every branch of Paddock's family tree, including both his ex-wives, but have no uncovered anything that would explain his murderous actions.
'All those things that you would expect to find, we have not found,' Lombardo said in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Lombardo was able to shed more light on Paddock's time in Las Vegas before he began his massacre on Sunday, October 1.
Paddock had arrived in the city three days earlier than originally thought, but stayed in a different room that was provided free of charge by the hotel.
When he moved to the corner suite from which he carried out the massacre, the hotel began charging him for the stay.
Police initially only counted charged days, hence the confusion, Lombardo said.
Lombardo said his team had reviewed hours of CCTV footage, and were not aware of any evidence to suggest he went into the desert to practice shooting in the days before the massacre, or that he hired a prostitute, as has been reported.
A bellboy did help Paddock move several bags up to his room, Lombardo revealed, adding that the killer traveled back and forth to his hometown of Mesquite several times before the massacre.

He didn't take the opportunity to escape after shooting the worker and security person.
Still nothing concrete to indicate any others were involved. And if there were, surely they would show up security cameras.

The same issue with SWAT teams as with Columbine.
The SWAT team screwed around with plans and tactics designed to protect the SWAT team instead of saving citizens' lives. The police don't want to admit the response time was complete BS

You are dead on. I bought into the 10 minute response narrative early on in the reporting and I was stunned to learn that it was 70 minutes or longer before they made entry. To be fair maybe he killed himself after 10 minutes and it was all quiet when they finally got up there...who knows...but, it does feel a lot like Columbine.

Today we hear that security guard Jesus Campos is not a licensed security guard in Nevada. Moreover, the timeline initially reported is in error. Campos was shot 6 minutes before Paddock opened up on the crowd below. "Security Guard"
22,000 people at the concert and more in the immediate surrounding area and a lot of conflicting reports about what happened. It would be interesting to see the forensic evidence that has been collected so far.

Seems like a lot of CYA coming from everyone. I think the hotel blew it, the police blew it and the FBI blew it and everyone knows it and is trying to cover up their incompetence.
#9
CYA is so inculcated in any bureaucracy these days that it is a given.
See the SPoD on the SWAT team response. I think the same thing is a big factor in the highly reported police shooting cases. CYA says it's better to shoot first and ask questions later.

The blocked stairwell door is hugely significant to me, has anyone been able to determine the precise way it was blocked? Either to prevent the anticipated LE response from avoiding the long hallway killzone, or the prevent the pursuit of those that were with him initially. The method and details would answer that question. That the were emphatic that he had an escape plan makes we wonder how he planned to bail. Surely if there were hallway and stairwell cameras we would have seen footage by now, unless the FBI wants to suppress what was captured on tape....

By the time they had arrived, the firing had stopped. They did SOP to wait with no immediate threat. There are other considerations to consider - evac of adjacent rooms, lockdown of the hotel, and collecting information.
Had firing re-started, they would have rushed in.
things sound kind of out of whack. I do have a problem with no being able to get a close to correct timeline 10 days after the fact, but that is one hell of a crime scene to process.
When the FBI and BATF give brief, it will give a better picture.
Take your time but hurry up.
As fires that would prove devastating burned across the North Bay late Sunday, Sonoma County considered sending a mass alert to cell phones in the region to warn of the rapidly spreading flames. But county officials decided against it, worried that doing so might create widespread panic and hinder the ability of first responders to combat the blazes.
For you CA Rantburgers or in the know. I was told a number of the fire areas are popular with squatters and trespass farmers if you will; yes/no?
Please tell me not all the firefighters are fighting in just wild land gear, on foot, with 1 1/4"s and rakes.
I am seeing different relief effort donations, including masks to protect from the smoke. The suggestion I saw were those medical masks. No, just no. Get those shop particle masks with the bendy where the bridge of the nose fits, dual elastic bands.

I have pity on some mothers who have abortions. Often they are under a lot of pressure - from the father, their families, their friends, and others. (No pity for mother's who abort because the child would interfere with their career, or they don't want to look fat on their trip to Cancun. )

[Al Jazeera] Across Liberia votes are being counted to determine the country's next president and legislators.
Polls closed at 6pm local time (18:00 GMT) on Tuesday and a provincial declaration is expected within the next 24 hours.
However, the electoral body has until October 25 to declare a winner or announce a runoff for the presidency.
A runoff seems likely as unofficial reports from the Liberia Broadcasting System suggest ex-footballer George Weah and current Vice President Joseph Boakai are leading.
A candidate must get at least 50 percent of the vote to be declared the winner. The peaceful vote will see the west African country's first democratic transition of power in more than 70 years.
Should there be a runoff, the winner is slated to be announced on November 8.
Al Jazeera's Ahmed Idris, reporting from the capital Monrovia, said Liberians were "enthusiastic and passionate" about the elections.
"They want to see a new government that can address the critical issues in their lives: funding infrastructure, like roads, health care, education, and building upon the relative peace in Liberia over the last 12 years."
Twenty candidates are running to replace incumbent president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who was held the role for 12 years, the maximum amount of time allowed by the country's constitution.
Johnson Sirleaf was the first elected head of state in Africa. A nonsense statement. Liberia's first elected president was Joseph Jenkins Roberts, in January 1848. President Johnson Sirleaf was the first president elected after the civil war set off by the the military coup of Sgt. Samuel Doe that resulted in the death of elected president William R. Tolbert. Doe was tortured to death by Prince Johnson, who then had to fight over the spoils with Chuck Taylor. Perhaps the writer meant that Sirleaf was the first female elected head of state in Africa. I can't think of another one, but that might only be because I'm too lazy to look it up.
In 2011, she was a joint recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for her "non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peacebuilding work," following Liberia's bloody 14-year civil war, which came to an end in 2003.
Speaking on Monday, she urged Liberians to "vote for the person and persons you believe will make Liberia a better place. The world will be watching. Let's make them proud."
About 2.2 million Liberians registered to vote, slightly less than half of the country's population.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Footage of the North Korean leader’s half-brother being wheeled out of a Malaysian airport on a stretcher after being poisoned was shown at the trial of his alleged killers on Wednesday.
Video from airport security cameras also showed Kim Jong-Nam having difficulty walking after the attack, and footage of two women who allegedly murdered him fleeing the scene.
Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong and Indonesian Siti Aisyah are accused of murdering Kim on February 13 by rubbing the nerve agent VX on his face in a Cold War-style hit that stunned the world.
Police told the court he had been carrying the equivalent of about $100,000 at the time.
The women, who were nabbed Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! a few days afterwards and face death by hanging if convicted, have pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." to killing the estranged half-brother of Kim Jong-Un at the airport near the capital Kuala Lumpur.
The defendants say they were duped into believing they were taking part in a prank for a reality TV show, and their lawyers blame North Korean agents for the liquidation.
On Wednesday the Shah Alam High Court outside the capital was shown footage of Kim being accompanied by airport staff to an on-site medical clinic after the attack.
At first he looked fine and was walking normally but later footage showed him taking small steps and staggering.
He was then shown lying on a wheeled stretcher, with some sort of breathing equipment attached to his face and surrounded by paramedics.
The paramedics are seen treating him in a corridor before he is wheeled into an elevator.
Earlier, the court saw CCTV footage of Kim arriving at the departure hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s budget terminal and heading towards a check-in counter.
Another video showed Aisyah, 25, running out of the departure hall and later leaving a toilet.
Huong, 29, was shown in footage entering a toilet. The pair are later shown in the taxi pick-up area of the airport and Aisyah is seen getting into a taxi.
Police officer Wan Azirul Nizam Che Wan Aziz testified Tuesday that Huong had attacked Kim in a "quite aggressive" fashion and had carried out an apparent practice run at the airport two days earlier.
Wan Azirul also said Wednesday that money equivalent to about $100,000 was found in Kim’s bag. He said it was being kept by the Malaysian police.

[NY Post] There is a serious morale problem on one of the US Navy’s missile cruisers charged with keeping North Korea at bay, according to a new report.
Crew aboard the USS Shiloh told an anonymous Navy survey the boat is a "floating prison" and said that they "hate" their job and ship, according to a Navy Times report detailing the shocking responses.
"I just pray we never have to shoot down a missile from North Korea, because then our ineffectiveness will really show," one dejected sailor wrote.
Crew lodged the hair-raising complaints in three surveys conducted between June 2015 and August of this year ‐ when the ship was commanded by Capt. Adam M. Aycock. He was not fired, the Navy Times reported.
Another stationed on the vessel said that depressed and suicidal crewmembers were afraid to report the life-threatening conditions because those who did were prevented from leaving the ship.

...This was also the ship where a crewman was thought to have gone overboard, and instead was found hiding in one of the engineering spaces...for a few days.
Something is well and truly wrong on that ship.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] India’s top court on Wednesday ruled that a man is committing rape if he engages in sexual intercourse with his wife who is aged between 15 and 18, a landmark decision that will affect millions of child brides.
The legal age of consent is 18 years. The law regards even consensual sex with a woman under 16 as rape, but an exception had been made for intercourse between a man and his wife who is between 15 and 18.
Marital rape is not a crime in India, where the government has said criminalizing marital rape could destabilize marriages and make men vulnerable to harassment by their wives.
The Supreme Court ruled the age of consent was 18 for "all purposes" after hearing a petition by Independent Thought, a non-profit group that sought to criminalize sex with underage wives.
"Sexual intercourse by a married man with their minor wife below 18 years is rape," the court said in its judgment, which was welcomed by women’s rights campaigners.

What if a Muslim marries a 7 or 8 year old like the Prophet Muhammad did with Aisha? Is the Supreme Court of India going to tell him he can't consummate the marriage for 10 or 11 years? Muhammad only waited 2 years, and he was the "perfect man".

My guess is the IS intelligence reporting while gratuitous, was a bit redundant. Something akin to a coy pond feeding report.
