I can't post any more unless I pull out my Internet Explorer browser. It has to do with Chrome-based browsers refusing to accept POST requests for security reasons. Is Rantburg going to upgrade to fix the problem? Details at the link.
Comment 6 by dc3de...@gmail.com, Aug 10
This happens when you post to a forum system (e.g., vBulletin) and within your post, you refer to another post. This common practice has been made super-cumbersome. For example, ..." yes we were discussion this very thing last month in {hyperlink and title of another forum post} ..."
This needs to be dialed back. It obviously didn't get subjected to enough field testing ha ha.
Trying to duplicate this now... Hasn't worked so far...
I haven't been able to duplicate it. The explanation I've seen on a Google forum doesn't make my Chrome barf, maybe because I use Linux. I've never gotten that error in thousands of posts. The "workaround" fix involves leaving the Burg vulnerable to cross-server pollination (XSS), which I don't want to do.
Until recently, Chrome was my browser of choice. I've switched to Opera lately and I like it. We had parted ways ten years or so ago when a new release broke existing Rantburg code. It's been very well-behaved for me this time.
I started ditching Google when they fired that tech for being politically incorrect. Opera's good, and I've used Brave as well. I use Duck Duck Go in place of Google search. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about mail. Maintaining a mail server's always been a pain in the underwear for me, so I've been relying on Gmail.
I don't know what the alternatives' politix are. I don't want to know. If I've got to recognize seventy two genders and vote Democrat before I'm dead and feel guilty about being a white person I'll switch to something else.

At one time Opera used the Chrome engine.
This sounds like 'too many redirects'.
Some people use their browser in a VM which can create an additional redirection.

A browser is like a pair of shoes...you don't want to be aware of them while you're using them (take it from a guy who has troublesome feet). After a couple of weeks Opera has been pretty good for me.

[RT] Three coppers in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, have been shot, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Three suspects, two women and a man, were detained after a high-speed chase.
One sheriff's deputy and two California Highway Patrol officers were shot, according to the sheriff.
The shooting occurred near Fulton Avenue and Auburn Boulevard in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento, California, KOVR reported.
Sheriff's office front man Tony Turnbull told the local news channel that the sheriff's Auto Theft Task Force witnessed two women in the area get into a stolen vehicle at about 8am. Officers followed that vehicle to Elk Grove and detained the women, while additional officers served a search warrant at the Ramada Inn hotel in the 2600 block of Auburn Boulevard.
A suspect with a high-powered rifle reportedly opened fire on multiple officers from behind a hotel room door. Two CHP officers were shot first, before a sheriff's deputy was hit in the back of the hotel, from a room balcony, according to the sheriff's front man.
The suspected shooter was tossed in the clink Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! after leading Sacramento law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit in a gray Dodge Challenger, which crashed around 1pm near El Camino Avenue and Millrace Road, officials told KCRA.
The suspected shooter was shot by law enforcement at the crash site, the sheriff's front man confirmed.

[FOX] The Pentagon acknowledged Wednesday that there are thousands more American troops deployed in Afghanistan than repeatedly disclosed.
The number of troops deployed to Afghanistan is actually closer to 11,000, Defense Department spokeswoman Dana White said at a news conference. The Pentagon previously said there were 8,400 troops in Afghanistan under the Obama administration's troop cap.
On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis ordered a change to how the Pentagon accounts for the number of troops serving in Afghanistan. A similar review to obtain accurate numbers of troops is pending for Iraq and Syria.
The estimated 11,000 soldiers in Afghanistan would not include future adjustments that Mattis may make to follow President Trump’s new strategy in South Asia, Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, of the Marine Corps, said.
Military officials have long quietly acknowledged there are more troops in Afghanistan than the previous administration’s troop cap permitted. Commanders shuffled troops in and out, but labeled many as “temporary” and used other personnel accounting tactics to keep the public count artificially low.
The Afghanistan troop announcement comes as the Pentagon reportedly prepares to send close to 4,000 more troops to fight in the war-torn country.

[Libya Observer] Security officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that under a deal backed by Italia, Libya’s struggling UN-proposed government in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... has paid militias implicated in trafficking in Sabratha to prevent migrants colonists from crossing the Mediterranean to Europe aka Islam's Lebensraum....
AP added that the move was clear in the fact two months have seen a sharp drop in crossings, a welcome sign for EU leaders desperate to stem the flow of migrants colonists.
"But the drop also appears to be in large part due to the deals struck with the two most powerful militias in the western Libyan city of Sabratha, the biggest launching point for the mainly African migrants colonists making the dangerous voyage across the Mediterranean. The militias, one known as "Al-Ammu" and the other as Brigade 48, are headed by two brothers from the area’s large al-Dabashi family." AP reported.
It added that at least five security officials and activists based in Sabratha said the bully boyz were known to be behind smuggling of migrants colonists.
The policy has raised an outcry among some in the Libyan security forces and activists dealing with migrants colonists, who warn that it enriches militias, enabling them to buy more weapons and become more powerful. In the country’s chaos, the militias can at any time go back to trafficking or turn against the government, they say.
The Washington Post said Italia worked directly with the militias and Italian officials met the leaders of the militias.

[Breitbart] Two men from New York have been charged over their alleged plans to support and fight for the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... , authorities say.
Parveg Ahmed,
...a naturalized American citizen who was originally from Bangladesh, according to mugshots.com, which has a fuzzy photo of the miscreant...
was placed in durance vile Book 'im, Mahmoud! by authorities whilst trying to enter Syria, having flown to Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... with a friend to celebrate Ramadan, The New York Times ...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... reported.
After returning to Brooklyn, New York, authorities obtained a warrant for his laptop and found recordings of sermons by Anwar al-Awlaki ... Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, zapped in Yemen, al-Awlaki was a dual citizen of the U.S. and Yemen. He was an Islamic holy man who was a trainer for al-Qaeda and its franchises. His sermons were attended by three of the 9/11 hijackers, by Fort Hood murderer Nidal Malik Hussein, and Undieboomer Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. He was the first U.S. citizen ever placed on a CIA target list... , a prominent American-born Islamic holy man who was assassinated in 2011, as well as a lecture by Abdullah el-Faisal, a Jamaican-born Islamic radical.
Court documents also reveal that back in October 2014, Ahmed wrote on one of his social media accounts that "jihadis" are "Moslems who fight to establish the Sharia IN THEIR OWN LANDS," and that Americans remains "the real terrorists."
A few months later, he posted a message on Twitter saying that "the war on the Islamic State is a war of the ideologies" and sent a private message to a friend declaring that the only country sufficiently "honoring the Almighty is the Islamic State."
Ahmed has yet to enter a plea.
Meanwhile, ...back at the alley, Slats Chumbaloni was staring into a hole that was just .45 inch in diameter and was less than three feet from his face ... 22-year-old Abror Habibo, an Uzbeki-American living in Queens, New York, has pleaded guilty to charges of agreeing to fund terrorist activity, after he bought another man, Akhror Saidakhmetov, a ticket to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... to carry on to Syria and join the Islamic State.
Habibo, who ran a chain of mall kiosks along the east coast, also told Saidakhmetov he would buy him a firearm.
"While doing these things, I knew it was illegal," Habibov said.
Both men now face up to 35 years in prison.
However, by candlelight every wench is handsome... Habivov’s lawyer, Anna Sideris, said she hoped "personal history and circumstances" could encourage leniency from the judge.
The two men are just some of dozens of American Moslems to be charged with supporting ISIS, with the caliphate previously claiming they have over 70 fighters across 15 separate states, including Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, and Michigan.

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Seven Islamic State militants were killed while trying to escape from northwestern Mosul, a security source said.
Speaking to Baghdad Today, the source said, “seven Arab IS gunmen, attempted escaping through al-Yaarabiya region, northwest of Mosul.”
“All of them were killed by the Iraqi border guards,” he added.
In Late June, Iraqi troops took over the Old City’s Nuri al-Kabir Mosque, where IS supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi first declared the proclaimed caliphate covering parts of Iraq and Syria. Later on July 10, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over IS militants who had held the second largest Iraqi city since 2014. More than 25000 militants were killed throughout the campaign, which started in October.
Since the city was declared free, security troops continue to comb western Mosul areas for hidden IS cells.
Tal Afar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi troops killed twenty-nine militants in a military operation to support the army and Federal Police troops advancing in northwest of Tal Afar, the last Islamic State’s enclave in Nineveh, Ikhnews reported.
In press remarks made on Tuesday, Maj.General Imad al-Silawi, a commander in Iraqi army, said troops liberated tens of villages in the mountain areas in west and north of Aiyadhiya region, located 11 kilometers away from Tal Afar.
Earlier on the day, Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah, commander of Tal Afar Operations, announced liberation of Qulabash village, indicating ongoing advance in Aiyadhiya, which was invaded on Tuesday, after field commanders said they had taken full control over Tal Afar’s districts.
The War Media Cell announced, earlier on Wednesday, preparations to declare the end of operations in Tal Afar and the approach of the launch of offensives for Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk.
The United Nations says more than 30.000 were displaced as operations launched for the enclave.

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi army warplanes killed 94 Islamic State militants in Anbar on Wednesday, including a senior leader close to the group’s supreme commander, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, military media reported. But not too close, right?
The War Media Cell said that the air force, using intelligence services information, bombarded six IS locations in the town of Qaim. Several group entrenchments were destroyed in the strike, leaving 94 members dead.
Those killed included Zafer (Abu Ayman) al-Rawi, a senior security commander, and Millat Hashem Farahat, a former commander in Tal Afar and a close aide to Baghdadi.
Islamic State militants are still holding the towns of Qaim, Rawa and Anna, in western Anbar, since 2014, when they occupied a third of Iraq to proclaim their self-styled “caliphate”.

Immolated; as in napalm. Or Willie Peter.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning. The smell, you know that gasoline smell... Smelled like victory.
[RT] The Iraqi military is engaged in fierce fighting against Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... Death Eaters in the Tal Afar district, where bully boyz have fled from the city itself and remain holed up in the town of al-Ayadiya. As the operation enters its final stage, RT looks at what is making it so difficult.
"The gates of hell" is what Iraqi Colonel Kareem al-Lami calls the battle now facing Iraqi troops near Tal Afar, according to Rooters.
US-backed Iraqi troops lauded the almost complete liberation of the strategic town of Tal Afar, held for three years by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIS), on August 27 after a week-long operation. However, some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves... the forces are currently struggling to defeat the bully boyz in the small town of al-Ayadiya a few miles north of Tal Afar, where the remaining Death Eaters continue to resist.
This last step towards the liberation of the district is even tougher than the battle for djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , located some 60km to the east, Colonel al-Lami says. That operation took eight months and was finished in June.
"We thought the battle for Mosul’s Old City was tough, but this one proved to be multiple times worst," al-Lami told Rooters on Wednesday.
Diehard Death Eaters with nothing to lose
Hundreds of Death Eaters are reportedly holding the ground in al-Ayadiya. Their exact numbers remain unclear, and they are apparently some of the toughest fighters that IS has.
"Our intelligence shows that the most diehard ISIS [IS] fighters fled Tal Afar to al-Ayadiya," Lieutenant Colonel Salah Kareem said, as cited by Rooters. "We are facing tough fighters who have nothing to lose and are ready to die."
Those bully boyz who don't stand and fight attempt to flee the battle zone by hiding among displaced civilians on the run. At least 200 Death Eaters were found during security checks of 2,000 refugees, Iraqi news reports, citing the Kurdish Peshmerga, which is also fighting against IS in the area. Kurdish forces also killed 130 more Death Eaters on the way to Syria, Iraqi news reported on Tuesday.
Ruins filled with explosives During their retreat from the city, IS bully boyz left behind deadly traps that have turned Tal Afar "into a sappers’ nightmare" as explosives could be hidden anywhere, RT correspondent Murad Gazdiev reported from the ground.

[IsraelTimes] Israel has tossed in the clink Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! a Paleostinian wedding singer after he performed a song about a terrorist who fatally stabbed three people in the settlement of Halamish, the Paleostinian Prisoners Club says.
The singer was among four Paleostinians arrested early Wednesday, three of whom perform in a band together, a spokeswoman says.
The army confirmed it arrested one person in Beit Rima, one in Kafr Ein and another in Kobar, the hometown of stabber Omar al-Abed.
Paleostinian media says the band, led by singer Mohammed al-Barghouti, had been singing about Abed, who stabbed to death three members of the Solomon family last month.
A video of the band performing the song, which praises Abed, has been posted on social media.
"Hey you, who asks about real men, you will find them in Kobar... Omar al-Abed is an earthquake who took Dire Revenge on behalf of al-Aqsa... he came from above the mountains carrying a knife on his side, and when he announced the clash, he made the Zionists lie on the ground... even if they detain my mother and my father, and demolish our home, we will never wear clothes of disgrace," the lyrics read, according to the Ma’an news agency.
[AnNahr] At least 18,500 Rohingya have crossed into Bangladesh since fighting erupted in Myanmar's neighboring Rakhine state six days ago, the International Organization for Migration said Wednesday.
Plumes of smoke billowed from several burning villages in the worst-hit section of the state, according to an AFP news hound on a government-led trip to the area, as the violence showed little sign of abating despite security sweeps by Myanmar's police and troops.
The streets of Maungdaw -- northern Rakhine's largest town -- were virtually deserted as fires flickered among charred remains of houses and the occasional burst of gunfire echoed in the distance.
The festivities began on Friday after gunnies from Myanmar's Rohingya Moslem minority community staged deadly surprise raids on police posts.
At least 110 people, including 11 state officials, have been confirmed dead and thousands of Rohingya have poured across the border to Bangladesh despite Dhaka's attempts to stop them.
"As of last night, 18,500 people have come across," Chris Lom, the IOM's Asia-Pacific front man, told AFP, adding an unknown number were still stuck on the Myanmar side of the border.
[DAWN] Smoke billowed from at least three burning villages in the remote section of Rakhine state where Myanmar's military is carrying out sweeps for Death Eaters, an AFP news hound saw on Wednesday.
The violence, which erupted six days ago after Rohingya bully boyz staged surprise raids on police posts, has shown little sign of abating, leaving at least 110 confirmed dead and sending thousands fleeing.
The displaced include ethnic Rakhine Buddhists and the persecuted Rohingya Moslem minority, thousands of whom have massed at the "zero line" border with Bangladesh which they are barred from crossing.
The bodies of two Rohingya women and two children washed up on Bangladeshi soil on Wednesday, an official there told AFP, as villagers took to rickety boats or tried to swim across a frontier river.
On Wednesday villagers in Rakhine continued to flee their homes.
A Rohingya villager near the town of Maungdaw, speaking on condition of anonymity ... for fear of being murdered... , said residents fled his hamlet as security forces approached and torched their homes.
