[AlAhram] Egypt’s affiliate of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group has confirmed the death of its chief, which comes two weeks after the military announced the killing during an operation in the North Sinai.
In a statement shared online by accounts affiliated to the group on Thursday, the group said that Abu Doaa Al-Ansari along with other fighters were killed while "countering a military campaign by the apostate army."
On 4 August, the Egyptian army said it had killed Al-Ansari along with his top aides and dozens of others jihadists in a series of Arclight airstrikes. It did not say when the operation took place.
Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis was the original name of the group, which now calls itself Sinai Province. The group, which has claimed most of the deadly violence over the past year, swore allegiance to the Islamic State group in November 2014.
It said in its statement that a new chief, Sheikh Abdullah, has been named, while warning that worse and "more bitter" attacks are yet to come.
The military has carried out several campaigns to crush gunnies and cut off their arms supplies.
The army said it had killed 88 snuffies in the third phase of its 'Right of the Martyr' campaign in May, and that another 22 were killed in a multi-day operation early in June.
[AlArabiya] Al Arabiya News Channel sources have confirmed the Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted former President Ali Abdullah Saleh in Yemen have incurred nearly 1,654 deaths and 2,000 injured over the past week.
The strikes by the Saudi-led coalition forces started on Wednesday and has strategically targeted Houthi military sites in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The strikes have also targeted sites in Saleh-stronghold city of Sanhan and coup-held city of Saada.
The coalition warplanes also recently bombed Houthi fighters from Yemen seeking to infiltrate Saudi Arabia. On Tuesday, a rocket fired by Yemeni rebels killed seven civilians inside Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, the civil defense agency said.
It was the highest reported number of civilian casualties in the kingdom's south since a Saudi-led coalition intervened 17 months ago in Yemen. The lead is flying in Yemen
United Nations Chief Ban Ki-moon repeated his call Wednesday for all sides in the conflict in Yemen to “immediately cease all hostilities,” following a devastating series of raids resulting in numerous civilian deaths and injuries.
In a statement Ban urged “all parties to the conflict to immediately cease all hostilities and for the Yemeni parties to return to direct talks facilitated by his special envoy for Yemen.”
He reminded all parties “of the utmost necessity to protect civilians and to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law.”
He denounced attacks, which appeared to come from Yemen, which have killed at least seven civilians when a workshop was hit Tuesday in Najran, Saudi Arabia.
That blow caused Saudi Arabia’s worst civilian death toll in the kingdom’s south since the Arab coalition intervened in Yemen in March 2015.
Ban expressed alarm at “the escalation of airstrikes and ground fighting in Yemen and along the Saudi Arabia-Yemen border” since the suspension in early August of UN-brokered peace talks in Kuwait.
Yemeni army declared the area beyond the Yemeni border a 'pure military target' by the army and the popular committees.
Army spokesman Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman said the Yemeni soldiers and popular committees fighters have been watching movements of Saudi forces along the border with Yemen, stressing that the allied Yemeni forces will deal with such movements according to rules of engagement with hostile force.Yemeni Army spokesman Brigadier General Sharaf Ghaleb Luqman
Luqman was quoted by Saba news agency as saying that the Saudi regime has been targeting Saudi areas in Jizan, Assir and Najran because the residents of these regions oppose the war on Yemen.
The media policy adopted by the Saudi-led coalition has been exposed since the first day of the aggression, the army spokesman noted adding that this policy was based on fabrications and announcing elusive victories.
"Following the miserable failure of the aggression, it's normal that the Saudi-led coalition will resort to mean propaganda in a bid to tarnish the image of the army and committees heroes.
[Legal Insurrection] A newly leaked German intelligence report dubbed Turkey as a major hub for Jihadi groups operating worldwide. The confidential document belonging to German Interior Ministry published by several German newspapers says that Erdogan-ruled Turkey has "developed into a central platform of activity for Islamist groups in the Middle East." The latest revelations should not come as a surprise to anyone, however the publication of confidential document puts more pressure on German government to take a tougher stand against Erdogan’s Islamist Regime. The BND, nothing escapes them. Nothing!
The internal assessment drawn by Germany’s intelligence service, BND, sees "ideological affinity" between Erdogan Regime and Islamist terror groups. The report specifically focuses on Turkey’s ties to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and Gaza-based Hamas. Erdogan Regime has been one of the strongest backer of Hamas -- ever since the terrorist group took hold of Gaza in 2006.
The revelations in Germany coincide with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s decision to release 38,000 convicted criminals from the country’s prisons to make rooms for tens of thousands of political detainees following the last month’s failed military coup against his government. In a sweeping post-coup clampdown, Turkish government has arrested 35,000 citizens including not just military personnel but also journalists, judges, civil servants and school teachers.
An Islamist by conviction, Erdogan, who’s has been running Turkey since 2003, has made no secret of his disgust for democracy and rule of law. Early in his career, he told his followers that ’democracy was like a train’ he intends to ’get off once he reaches his destination’. With opposition and critics now rounded up and thrown in jails without trial, Erdogan and his Islamist goons have now abandoned that train for good.
"As a result of the increasing Islamization of Ankara’s domestic and foreign policy since 2011, Turkey has become a central platform for action for Islamist groupings," the leaked intelligence document said. Germany’s state-run broadcaster DW News reports:
[Ynet] Italy will set up a shelter to host as many as 300 migrants stranded near the Swiss border, after Switzerland cracked down on crossings, forcing hundreds to sleep on the ground in a city park, officials said Wednesday.
In mid-July, Switzerland began strict controls on migrants arriving by train from Como, an Italian city on Lake Como. Since then, Switzerland has turned away two-thirds of the migrants who tried to enter the country, compared with one in seven through June of this year.
Starting in mid-September, a city-owned parking lot near the local cemetery will host 50 pre-fabricated modules and showers, bathrooms and a small health clinic to accommodate as many as 300 people temporarily, prefect Bruno Corda said in a news conference broadcast on television.
Migrants will be provided with legal aid on Italy's asylum process at the camp, Corda said. Under European Union law, migrants must seek asylum in Italy, where they arrived by boat from North Africa, because it is the first European country they reached.
"I'm confident that the people who cannot go to Switzerland will want return to a system of legality," Corda said.
But many migrants do not want to stay in Italy, often because they have relatives or friends already living in other countries.
The number of migrants reaching the Greek islands from Turkey has hiked since the failed military coup attempt of July 15, pointing to a shortage of controls on the Turkish side.
A total of 2,335 migrants have reached Greece via Turkey since the thwarted coup attempt, while a total of 112 migrants were saved from the sea by Greek and Turkish coast guards on Aug. 17.
The number of migrants reaching Greek islands since the March 18 Ankara-Brussels deal aiming to curb the flow of migrants in the bloc up to June 14 was 8,440. This figure increased to 8,477 by July 14, one day before the failed coup attempt, marking an increase of just 37 people in one month.
However, the number of migrants reaching Greece after taking the perilous journey over the Aegean Sea from Turkey rose to 2,298 in the month after the coup attempt. With the latest surge, the total number of migrants in Greece has increased to 57,679.
As the number of migrants risking their lives in the Aegean for hopes of colonizing better lives in Europe has hiked, the number of migrants being rescued from the sea has also increased.
The Greek Coast Guard rescued 59 migrants from an inflatable dinghy off the island of Kos on Aug. 17, while a second vessel reported to be in trouble was picked up by Turkish authorities, the Associated Press reported.
A total of 147 people arrived on three Greek islands in the 24 hours between the morning of Aug. 16 and morning of Aug. 17, including those rescued in rough weather off Kos. Of the others, 44 reached the small island of Kalymnos and the remaining 44 were picked up by the coast guard from another inflatable dinghy off the island of Lesbos.
Also on Aug. 17, the Turkish Coast Guard rescued passengers on a migrant boat who had called for help citing engine problems, according to the Greek authorities. The boat was found in Turkish waters following an initial search operation on the Greek side between the islands of Samos and Ikaria. The caller said there were about 53 people on board.

[Hurriyet] Turkish PM Binali Yildirim has pledged a fierce response to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has accelerated attacks on both security forces and civilians, killing at least 12 people and injuring hundreds of others in three separate attacks in less than 24 hours.
"Terror will not take over The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... ," said Yildirim, who secured full support from the country’s main opposition party.
"This nation will never surrender to any terrorist organization," he said.
"The terrorist organization has lost its chain of command. It is staging suicide kabooms wherever it can," Yildirim said in the eastern province of Elazig, where he was accompanied by Interior Minister Efkan Ala, Defense Minister Fikri Isik, Health Minister Recep Akdag and Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar.
"Elazig won’t collapse with this attack. The terrorist organization won’t find the right to live anywhere. We have raised the alarm level," he added.
President Recep Tayyip Edogan also said in Ankara that "no one needed to be an oracle to see that FETÖ is behind the recent PKK attacks in terms of intelligence sharing and promotion," referring to the followers of Fethullah Gulen.
President Recep Tayyip Edogan also said in Ankara that "no one needed to be an oracle to see that FETÖ is behind the recent PKK attacks in terms of intelligence sharing and promotion," referring to the followers of Fethullah Gulen ... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world... , the U.S.-based preacher and main suspect behind the July 15 coup attempt.
"This nation cannot be defeated. This nation cannot be demolished," said Erdogan.
Three officers were killed and 217 people, including 85 coppers and 60 civilians, were maimed in a PKK attack in Elazig early on Aug. 18. Some 72 of those maimed have been discharged from hospitals while 14 remained in a critical condition. Two of them are coppers.
Initial footage showed severe damage to the building. The blast also created a hole in the scene. A bomb-laden car coming from the west exploded while in transit in front of the building, CNN Turk has reported.
Meanwhile, ...back at the palazzo, Count Guido stepped from behind the suit of armor, rapier in hand. Ciccolini snarled and reached for his own weapon... one police officer and two non-combatants were killed, while 73 more were maimed, in a car kaboom in the Ipekyolu district of the eastern province of Van

late on Aug. 17. PKK murderous Moslems attacked the April 2 Police Center and Lodgings in Ipekyolu with a bomb-laden car which they parked near the building before detonating it remotely. A sum of 73 people, 20 of whom are coppers, were also maimed in the kaboom.
Five soldiers and one village guard were killed and six soldiers were maimed on Aug. 18 in a PKK attack in the Hizan district of the eastern province of Bitlis, Dogan News Agency reported. PKK murderous Moslems detonated a hand-made explosive placed on a road near the Gayda village during the passing of a military vehicle at around 1 p.m, killing five soldiers and wounding five others.
Village guard Muslum Yaldiz was killed and one soldier was maimed during festivities with PKK murderous Moslems in the rural areas of Nazar village.
The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) also sent a three-person delegation to Elazig.
"I make an open call to the government," said CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu. "We are ready to give you whatever you expect from the government to bring an end to terror. I have given whatever you asked for until today. But we have just one expectation from the government: Please solve this terror issue."
"Turkey is rapidly being dragged into ambiguity," the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) said in a statement, calling for a return to talks between the state and the PKK.
"What we are going through every day makes us long for yesterday. We are deeply concerned and saddened by recent incidents happened today in Elazig, a few days ago in Van and Diyarbakir," it said.
"Today, the expansion of democratic political channels is an urgent need. We, as the Peoples’ Democratic Party, are determined to do our part to stop recent incidents before they create more social unrest. The resolution to the long-standing Kurdish question must not be delayed any longer," it said.

The Washington Post's intelligence reporter Greg Miller reported on July 28 that a senior intelligence official told Miller privately that he would refuse to brief Trump because of concerns about Trump's alleged admiration of Russian president Putin and because "he's been so uninterested in the truth and so reckless with it when he sees it." Reuters ran a similar story on June 2, reporting that eight senior security officials said they had concerns about briefing Trump; Reuters did not indicate how many of the officials cited were intelligence officials or Obama appointees.
These calls to deny intelligence briefings to a presidential candidate are unprecedented, but they also reflect a serious problem within the U.S. intelligence community that awaits a possible Trump administration: the politicization of American intelligence by the Left.
I saw this constantly during my 19 years as a CIA analyst. CIA officers frequently tried to undermine CIA directors Casey and Gates because they disagreed with President Reagan's policy goal of defeating the Soviet Union. Several testified against Gates's nomination to be CIA director in 1991 by lodging false claims that he and Casey had politicized intelligence. Former senator Warren Rudman, a moderate Republican who headed President Clinton's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, described these attacks by CIA analysts as "an attempted assassination, an assassination of [Gates's] character . . . McCarthyism, pure and simple."
No briefing? No problem. Obviously you can't be fired, but your annual bonus is now ZERO! Have a nice day. Next briefer please.
Always okay to politicize briefings, actions and the whole agency. It just always has to favor the Democrats...

You just go visit the actual analysts in their offices. Management by walking around. I recall a visiting IG pulling some troops aside and taking them to the day room for a 'private' talk. Amazing how rattled that made some people. Do that one or two times and the word gets out.

Find a warehouse, fill it with desks and chairs. No phone, no internet. That becomes their duty station.
They report everyday, and they sit. No talking, no cell phones and no distractions. Yank their clearances.
Make them an offer, sit here day in day out until retirement. Or, resign with some severance or other financial inducement. Rinse and repeat as often as required. Across all Federal Agencies.

CIA needs a Northern Alaska field office and staffing should begin early next year.
If a senior intelligence official really told Miller privately that he would refuse to brief Trump because of concerns about Trump's alleged admiration of Russian president Putin than the guy was pulling Miller's leg or the guy needs to be in prison.

Assign them to weather stations and/or forest ranger stations out in the boonies. Kind of like the old joke about assigning USAF officers as weather officer in the Aleutians when they annoy higher ranks... Customs officer for a one airplane bush airfield in Montana is also good.
[HomelandSecurityToday] '[Attacks] will continue but will be [in] a creative and new way by men of your own [who] carry your names, speak your language, and did not receive training in Afghanistan, and whose names are not on the CIA and FBI black list - men who might have in the past drunk alcohol, eaten pork, or been soldiers in your army,' Al Qosi, a member of AQAP's Shura council, vowed in an article published by Al Marsa, a weekly newspaper affiliated with AQAP.
He also 'urged the mujahideen in Syria to unite and form a new army whose mission would be to liberate Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem,' according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
Homeland Security Today previously reported that Al Qaeda and its affiliated groups like AQAP were actively recruiting radicalized Westerners unknown to counterterrorism authorities who are able to travel freely throughout the West.

This is typical of their mind game with the west. I remember a lady helping a muslim woman with groceries. Thanking her she then said don't drink Pepsi products. They always have to play mind games.
For many years, Coke did business in Israel but Pepsi did not. Pepsi used this to get a foot in the door all over the Muslim world. Then one day in that Muslim world, the rumor began, that PEPSI stood for Practically Every Penny Supports Israel. Now you can buy Coke in the Muslim world.
Could have been the result of corporate counter intel or just the result of random muslim paranoi

An ISPR statement said the army chief was given detailed briefing by operational commander on progress of operations and gains consolidated so far, against terrorists in Khyber Agency.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of the military operation against terrorists, General Sharif lauded the highest state of morale and professionalism of the security personnel engaged in anti-terrorist offensive.
“We will commit all efforts to clear all remote pockets and sleeper cells of terrorists till their total elimination from anywhere in the country,” said the army chief in his address to the soldiers.

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – The progress of Peshmerga in Nineveh has raised the fears of the Iraqi government and urged Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to call the Peshmerga not to advance towards Mosul.
The government of Kurdistan Region rejected Abadi’s request and continued to advance in Nineveh, refusing to withdraw from the areas it liberated.
The Kurdish decision reinforced the fears that the Kurdistan region is attempting to monopolize more land, under the pretext of defeating ISIS, in order to expand and declare independence later.
The Kurdish refusal was followed by decisions made by the Supreme Commander of the Peshmerga forces Massoud Barzani regarding the work of his troops in their areas of influence, in order to determine how to deal with civilians in these areas and respect human rights principles.
[IsraelTimes] Muhammad Nazami Nasser sorry for ’destruction’ caused to his people by his group, which he indicates he now considers ’the devil’; expresses no regret to Israel
A Paleostinian terrorist who co-founded Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,’s notorious military wing in 1991 and was directly involved in the killing of Israeli soldiers, published a startling Facebook post in which he apologized to fellow Paleostinians for his activities. He also indicated that he now considers the Islamist terror group, which he did not mention by name, to be "the devil," sowing hatred and bringing destruction to the Paleostinian people. He made no apology for terrorism and violence directed against Israel.
Nasser is now part of a political movement called "Wataniyyin" or patriots, comprising former Fatah and PFLP members working for reconciliation among Paleostinian factions.
Muhammad Nazami Nasser was one of the founders of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, which has been responsible for years of terrorism against Israel and is headed by terror chief Mohammed Deif. In 1989, Nasser was one of the Hamas team that kidnapped and murdered Israeli soldiers Avi Sasportas and Ilan Saadon. Those attacks marked the first time Hamas had kidnapped and killed Israeli soldiers.

[IsraelTimes] Latest suspensions raise to 360,000 the total number of accounts sidelined since the middle of 2015
Twitter on Thursday announced that it has cut off 235,000 more accounts for violating its policies regarding promotion of terrorism at the global one-to-many messaging service.
The latest account suspensions raised to 360,000 the total number of accounts sidelined since the middle of 2015 and was helping "drive meaningful results" in curbing the activity, according to the the Socialist paradise of San Francisco ...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964... -based company.
Twitter has been under pressure to balance protecting free speech at the service with not providing a stage for terrorist groups to spread violent messages and enlist people to their causes.
The latest account suspensions came since February, when Twitter announced that it had neutralized 125,000 accounts for violating rules against violent threats and promotion of terrorism.
"Since that announcement, the world has witnessed a further wave of deadly, abhorrent terror attacks across the globe," Twitter said in a blog post.
"We strongly condemn these acts and remain committed to eliminating the promotion of violence or terrorism on our platform."
Daily suspensions of accounts are up more than 80 percent since last year, and spike in the immediate aftermath of terror attacks, according to Twitter.
Twitter said that it is getting quicker at identifying terrorist content and shutting down accounts involved, resulting in dramatic decreases in the number of followers attracted while they are active.
Moves have been made to make it tougher for people behind suspended accounts to immediately return to Twitter, and teams reviewing reports of suspected terror content have been expanded.
A US judge last week tossed out a lawsuit accusing Twitter of abetting terrorism by allowing Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. District Court Judge William Orrick granted a motion by Twitter to dismiss the case, reasoning that providing a platform for speech is within the law and that the company did not create the content.
