Afghan woman kills 25 Taliban rebels to avenge her son's murder
[KP] An Afghan woman has killed at least 25 Taliban militants to avenge the murder of her son who was a police officer in western Farah province.

According to reports, Reza Gul was forced to pick up arms after her son was shot dead by Taliban militants in front of her eyes.

Her son was leading a small group of police forces in a check post located in a village of Farah province.

She was supported by her daughter and daughter-in-law during the gun battle which lasted for almost 7 hours that left at least 25 Taliban militants dead and five others injured.
Sediq Sediq, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the armed campaign by women against the Taliban militants is a symbol of a major revolution and public uprising against the group.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the incident so far.

Farah is among the volatile provinces in western Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are actively operating in its various districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A horrific video has emerged online which purportedly shows brutal torture of an alleged jacket wallah in southern Afghanistan.

The video immediately went viral on social media on Tuesday, causing uproar among the Afghan people as well as the authorities who are saying the brutal act has been carried out by irresponsible armed individuals.

The video shows a group of heavily gunnies capturing an individual with his hands tied as he is brutally beaten for his crime, allegedly looking to carry out a suicide kaboom.

In other parts of the video, the men are shown tying the alleged suicide bomber behind a vehicle and is dragged on the street.

in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

Najib Danish, deputy front man for the Ministry of Interior (MoI) strongly condemned the brutal act and said a group of irresponsible gunnies are involved, ruling out the involvement of security personnel.

He said the act is against all values of Islam and human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
, insisting that the security personnel are all committed to respect the laws of the country, specifically the war rules.

Danish also added that the police authorities in the relevant province have been instructed to take immediate actions for the detention and trial of those involved in the brutal act.

Top Taliban leaders among 67 reported killed in Herat infighting
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Amid ongoing fierce festivities among Taliban factions in western Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province of Afghanistan, reports have emerged regarding the death of two top leaders of the group.

The two top leaders of the group have been identified as Mullah Malik and Mulalh Wakil who have been killed during ongoing infighting which erupted two days ago.

According to reports, Mullah Malik and Mullah Wakil were Taliban’s big shot and were operating for the group in western Farah province of Afghanistan.

Preliminary reports suggest at last 67 Talibs have been killed and 65 others have been maimed as festivities still continue between the two sides.

Local officials said Tuesday that festivities between the two top Taliban leaders, Mullah Samad and Mullah Nangialai, broke out on Monday afternoon in Shindand district.

The officials further added that the deadly infighting erupted due to differences on group’s leadership.

The latest festivities between the Taliban factions follows almost three months after a similar clash broke out between the rival groups in this province.

The Taliban factions are occasionally engaging in deadly infighting, mainly due to differences over the group’s leadership, which changed following the death of the group’s founder Mullah Mohammad Omar.

Mullah Mansoor assumed charge of the Taliban group in July last year following the announcement of Taliban founder Mullah Mohammad Omar’s death.

His controversial appointment as new Taliban supreme leader led to widening rift among the Taliban leaders who are often entering into deadly clash.

The officials further added that the civilians were travelling in a vehicle when they were stopped and kidnapped by the Lion of Islams.

A member of the provincial council Mohammad Ali Hakimi confirmed the civilians were on their way to quiet provincial capital when their vehicle was stopped.

Sar-e-Pul is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where anti-government armed forces of Evil groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

Heavy festivities were reported in parts of Sar-e-Pul province as the Talibs launched coordinated attacks on Afghan security posts late last year.

The Talibs also took control of Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
at district following an offensive earlier in the month of October last year.

The anti-government armed forces of Evil also kidnapped five civilians from a highway between the northern Jawzjan and Sar-e-Pul province earlier in September last year.

Militants are often stopping the civilians buses and vehicles on main highways in volatile parts of the country and kidnap civilians, accusing them of working for the government or being members of the security forces.

Tunisian Forces Foil overnight Terrorist Attack, Kill 6 Gunmen
[ALMANAR.LB] Tunisian security forces killed six "terrorists" overnight near Ben Guerdane after a deadly terrorist attack on the town near the border with Libya, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.

"Security and army units tonight eliminated five turbans in the Benniri sector" near the frontier, the ministry said late Tuesday.

Early Wednesday it revised the toll, saying that a sixth suspect terrorist had been killed overnight.

Four Kalashnikov assault rifles were recovered, it added.

Tunisian media reports late Tuesday said security forces had surrounded a house where suspected holy warriors were holed up, but this information has yet to be officially confirmed.

Benniri is a few kilometers (miles) south of Ben Guerdane which is still under curfew after Monday's dawn attack in which 36 assailants, 12 members of the security forces and seven non-combatants were killed.

The authorities said the attack was an unprecedented assault by the so-called 'Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group aimed at setting up a new stronghold in the country across the border from Libya.

Witnesses reported a massive security presence on Wednesday in Ben Guerdane, a town of 60,000 people.

The authorities have warned that mopping up operations after Monday's attack would continue.

Prime Minister Habib Essid said on Tuesday that about 50 Death Eaters were believed to have taken part in the assaults on an army barracks and police and National Guard posts.

Defense ministry front man Belhassen Oueslati said 17 suspects were incarcerated
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
on Tuesday near a military barracks and handed over to the National Guard for questioning.

‘Radicalized’ Frenchman held after flying to Morocco with knives in baggage

in Morocco after arriving on a Ryanair flight with knives and a gas bottle in his luggage, a local government official said on Wednesday .

The 31-year-old man, who had previously been under house arrest in La Belle France, was held upon arrival in Fez on Sunday, where authorities discovered the items, as well as a black balaclava, in his luggage.

He flew there with the low-cost airline from Nantes in western La Belle France, despite heightened security following an Islamic State

group attack on Gay Paree in November that left 130 people dead.

Local government officials identified him as Manuel Broustail, a former soldier who converted to Islam. He was arrested in November after the attacks and sent to his room.

The municipality of the Loire-Atlantique region said Broustail was no longer under house arrest when he checked into the flight, and there was no reason to stop him leaving La Belle France.

According to photos published in Moroccan media, Broustail's luggage appeared to contain at least four kitchen knives, a machete, two pocket knives, a truncheon, a balaclava and gas bottle.

The municipality said La Belle France had signaled the man's presence to the Moroccan authorities and that his arrest in Fez "was not a matter of chance".

The Dublin-based carrier Ryanair told AFP the case was "the responsibility of Nantes airport security officials who are investigating".

The municipality said Broustail's hand luggage had contained nothing out of the ordinary, and his checked baggage had not raised alarm bells when passing through electronic detectors as it did not contain explosives.

A source close to the investigation said Broustail had moved to Morocco with his wife last year and had returned to La Belle France to sell his apartment.

Arabia
Soddys participate in prisoner swap
Saudi Arabia released seven Yemenis in exchange for one of its soldiers, the kingdom's news agency reported Wednesday. It marked the first announced prisoner swap since a Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries went to war against Yemen's rebels nearly a year ago.

The Saudi military and the rebels known as Houthis frequently clash along the kingdom's southern border with Yemen. The statement, carried by the Saudi Press Agency, did not specify if the Houthis had been holding the soldier who was released.

SPA said Yemeni tribal leaders coordinated the prisoner swap that led to the release of Cpl. Jaber Al Kaabi. It also said Yemeni tribal figures helped facilitate the delivery of aid across the border into Yemeni villages.

The statement said the seven Yemenis had been detained in areas of military operations near the border, but did not give details on when the Yemenis and the solider had been detained nor where the exchange took place.

In September, the Houthis released a video purporting to show another Saudi corporal, named Ibrahim Al Hakimi, being held captive.

The Yemeni capital of Sanaa and the northern region of the country where Houthis are in control have reported relative calm in recent days.

Prisoner Swap Takes Place as Yemenis, Saudis Hold Talks in Border Area
[ALMANAR.LB] Yemeni sources denied as not accurate reports which said that Ansarullah delegation went to Riyadh for talks with the Saudi regime over its brutal aggression against the Arab impoverished country.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the sources did not deny that talks had really taken place, noting that they were under the request of Riyadh.

The two sides met in a border area, the sources told al-Manar, noting that Riyadh offered to stop the Arclight airstrikes on Sanaa in exchange for that Yemeni army and the popular committees stop their retaliation attacks in the areas across the border with Saudi.

For its part, the Yemeni side refused the Saudi offer, insisting that the aggression should be halted against all the areas across Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
and not only in Sanaa, the sources added.

In this context, the sources said that the Saudi offer comes as a result for its failure in the battlefield, in addition to the threat posed by Takfiri

groups in the south.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Cynthia backed into the galley, the barbecue fork held in front of her.
Jack! she called. Where the hell are you?...

another Yemeni source said that a prisoner swap deal took place between the two sides.

The swap included a Saudi colonel and Yemeni fighters, the source said, noting that the Saudi side recovered dozens of bodies of Saudi soldiers and mercenaries fighting alongside the Saudi-led coalition.

Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.
Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to runaway president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
However,

Gulf States Snub Hizbullah-Affiliated Channels
[An Nahar] Information ministers of the Saudi-led Gulf Cooperation Council have taken a series of measures following the GCC's blacklisting of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
last week.

During a meeting they held in Riyadh on Tuesday, the ministers decided to take all legal measures to prevent cooperation with TV channels affiliated to Hizbullah or its leaders.

The statement issued following the meeting said "Hizbullah seeks to stir strife and incite chaos and violence."

The ministers stressed that legal measures apply to production companies, producers, and all that falls under the umbrella of the media as part of measures taken to implement the GCC resolution which considered Hizbullah a terrorist organization.

The move by the Saudi-led bloc of six Gulf nations last Wednesday came less than two weeks after Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
announced it was cutting $4 billion in aid to the Lebanese army and security forces.

There are fears that the Gulf states would pile more pressure on Leb, including deporting Lebanese expats and stopping flights to Leb.

The Saudi Embassy in Beirut denied a report
No, no! Certainly not!
in the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas that Saudi Arabian Airlines has urged travel agencies in Kuwait to stop booking flights to Leb on the kingdom's national carrier.

The airline urged the agencies to allow travelers, who have already booked their flights, to redeem their tickets, al-Qabas said.

Severed Head Found at Amsterdam Hookah Bar
[An Nahar] Dutch authorities closed down a notorious Amsterdam hookah bar Wednesday after a severed human head was discovered at its entrance, a grisly find believed to be linked to a drug war between rival gangs.

A passer-by signaled the gruesome scene to police, who linked it to the discovery of a decapitated body in a burnt-out car elsewhere in the city.

Police said the body belonged to 23-year-old Amsterdam resident Nabil Amzieb, who was known to the authorities.

"A police probe later confirmed the head belonged to the body," they said in a statement.

The hookah bar called the Fayrouz Lounge is a "well-known gathering spot for criminals involved in the so-called "Mocro-war", a power struggle mainly between Moroccan gangs in the city, public broadcaster NOS said.

It most likely represented a "new phase" in the gang war, which has seen several others murdered in the scenic Dutch capital, including one man who was killed after visiting the same bar, Dutch media reports said.

Home Front: WoT
USAF veteran convicted of attempting to join IS
[Reuters] Tairod Pugh, a U.S. Air Force veteran, was found guilty on Wednesday of attempting to join Islamic State, according to his lawyer.

After a week-long trial in Brooklyn federal court, a jury found Pugh, 48, guilty of attempting to provide material support to a designated terrorist organization, and obstruction for destroying four portable electronic storage devices after his detention in Turkey.

Prosecutors said Pugh immersed himself in violent Islamic State propaganda for months before buying a one-way flight from his home in Egypt to Turkey, where he hoped to cross the Syrian border into territory controlled by the extremist group.

He was detained by Turkish authorities at an Istanbul airport and eventually flown to the United States to face terrorism charges.

Pugh's defense lawyers argued that his only offense was to express "repugnant" views about Islamic State in Facebook posts and to watch dozens of the group's slickly produced recruitment videos. They said he traveled to Turkey to find work, not to become a jihadist.

But prosecutors pointed to a letter he drafted to his Egyptian wife, found on his laptop, in which he vowed to fight for Islam and declared he had two options: "Victory or Martyr." The letter was written days before he flew to Turkey, though it was unclear whether he ever sent it.

He also took with him to Istanbul a black facemask, a map depicting Islamic State's strongholds in Syria and a chart of the border crossings between Turkey and Syria.

Pugh served as an avionics specialist in the Air Force from 1986 to 1990 and later worked as an Army contractor in Iraq from 2009 to 2010, prosecutors said.
Rantburg's Tairod Pugh archive can be seen here.

LeT comdr, Udhampur attack mastermind among 2 killed
[Daily Excelsior] In a major success against the Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT), security forces today bumped off its top commander and criminal mastermind behind last year’s attack in Udhampur on a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy, Abu Ukasha, and his associate while LeT divisional commander, Abu Dujana, along with 9 other LeT snuffies managed to escape from the cordon.

After a specific input received by the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmire Police, Srinagar, about presence of 11 snuffies including top leadership of LeT, security forces this afternoon launched searches at Chandipora, Goripora and Wadhakpora villages in South Kashmire’s Pulwama district.

A top police officer said that they had information about the presence of 11 snuffies of LeT who had a meeting in the area. As they were holding the meeting in the Agriculture farm in Wadhakpora in Awantipora area of South Kashmire’s Pulwama district, security forces laid the cordon and conducted searches during which shootout broke out that lasted for several hours.

Security forces cordoned off vast area and had a fierce shootout with the LeT snuffies at Wadhakpora in Awantipora area in which two snuffies were killed. They have been identified as Abu Ukasha and Abu Hafiz. They also recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines and two pouches from their possession.

Large number of security forces took part in the operation as the area is vast and has bushes as well. Besides SOG Srinagar, those who were part of the operation include 10 Para, 50, 42 and 55 Rashtirya Rifles of Army, 185, 110 and 18th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), SOG Awantipora and Pulwama.

Abu Ukasha was one of the most wanted snuffies in Kashmire and National Investigating Agency (NIA) had announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head for his involvement in Udhampur attack. He was part of the three snuffies who carried out the attack in Udhampur on BSF convoy last year. One of his associates, Mohammad Noaman was killed and Mohammad Naveed was jugged
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
in Udhampur but Abu Ukasha managed to return to his base in South Kashmire.

As the security forces were engaged in the shootout with the two LeT hard boys, 9 other LeT snuffies including divisional commander of the LeT, Abu Dujana managed to slip out of the cordon, taking advantage of dense vegetation and bushes in the area.

Meanwhile,
...back at the hoedown, the fiddler suddenly struck a sour note. The dancing stopped abruptly. Everyone looked at Bob...
SOG Srinagar and Army today cordoned off Wanihama village of Ganderbal district in the outskirts of Srinagar. SOG Srinagar received a tip off about the presence of two snuffies of Hizbul Mujahideen in Wanihama and cordoned off the area.

As the searches were underway, snuffies opened firing on police leading to a brief shootout. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
snuffies managed to escape from the spot leaving behind one AK 47 rifle and few rounds.

Terrorists carry out two shooting attacks in Jerusalem; One critically wounded
[Jpost] Violence rattled the capital for a second day Wednesday, when two Paleostinian bandidos turbans responsible for separate drive-by shootings were killed by police during a shoot-out near the Old City following a citywide manhunt.

An Arab-Israeli man in his late 50s was critically maimed after being shot twice by the suspects during the shootout, which took place on a major thoroughfare between the New Gate and light-rail tracks.

At approximately 8 a.m., police first received reports about two suspicious Arab men driving a blue vehicle on Golda Meir Boulevard in the capital’s Ramot neighborhood.

Moments later, shots were fired from the car in the direction of an Egged bus, police said.

Before officers arrived at the scene, an armed Israeli man who witnessed the shooting exited his car and fired a single shot at the terrorists’ vehicle before they fled the area.

"We know that shots were fired in the direction of the bus by two Arab suspects armed with automatic weapons, but no bullet holes were found on the bus itself," said Police front man Micky Rosenfeld, who added that no casualties were reported.

"Police units immediately set up road blocks and launched a search for the vehicle driven by the terrorists, which we knew was still in Jerusalem and was spotted by special patrol units between the Old City’s Damascus Gate and New Gate one hour later."

Rosenfeld said that when police approached the car, shots were fired at them before the officers returned fire and killed both suspects.

None of the officers were maimed, but a 57-year-old Arab-Israeli bystander walking in the area was struck in the head and chest by two bullets fired by the suspects.

Magen David Adom paramedics at the scene treated the east Jerusalem resident, who was rushed to Hadassah- University Medical Center on Jerusalem’s Mount Scopus at death's door.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Kurds, rebels cut ISIS supply line in Hasakah
HASAKAH – Backed by the U.S.-led coalition’s warplanes, Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) expelled Wednesday militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) from a key town in northeastern Syria.

Subsequent to clashes with ISIS militants, the SDF has recaptured the Umm Madfah town in Hasakah province, on the Syrian-Iraqi border.

Umm Madfah was a main supply route for ISIS jihadis between their de facto capital of Raqqa and the southern countryside of Hasakah province, northeastern Syria.

The town had also served as a meeting point for ISIS jihadis during their movements between Syria and Iraq.

“By retaking Umm Madfah, our fighters were able to block the ISIS supply line between Raqqa and Hasakah,” SDF official spokesman Talal Silo told ARA News. “Also, the movement of the terrorists was paralyzed after this victory by our forces in northern Syria.”

ISIS Under SDF Fire

The SDF, which includes Kurdish, Arab and Christian units, had earlier liberated more than 240 towns and villages from ISIS militants on the border with Iraq, the last of which was Shaddadi–main ISIS bastion in Hasakah province.

Two weeks ago, the SDF alliance had seized control of a key gas facility and main financial resource for the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah province. The western-backed forces regained control of the Jibisa gas facility, located about 12km east of Shaddadi city in southern Hasakah.

The facility had been used by ISIS for nearly two years as a source to fund its operations. Informed sources told ARA News that ISIS used to produce 5,000 gas cylinders a day in Jibisa to be sold at the black-market. Local sources reported that ISIS has been coordinating with the Syrian regime to sell the gas it used to extract from Jibisa fields, and that the regime’s employees have been working in the facility even during ISIS control.

Jibisa gas facility is considered one of the main gas facilities in northern Syria for its huge production that has been feeding power stations in central Syria. The facility was run by some 500 workers, including specialized engineers, technicians and workers.

Iran Defies US Warnings, Tests more Ballistic Missiles in Second Day of Drills
[ALMANAR.LB] Iran said its armed forces had fired two more ballistic missiles on Wednesday as it continued tests in defiance of US warnings.

"Long-range Qadr-H and Qadr-F precision missiles were fired today... which destroyed targets" some 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) away, official media quoted the deputy head of the Revolutionary Guards, General Hussein Salami, as saying.

State television broadcast video of two missiles being fired from a site in the Alborz mountain range in northern Iran.

The Islamic Theocratic Republic also carried out multiple ballistic missile tests on Tuesday.

The missile sanctions were imposed a day after nuclear-related sanctions on Iran were lifted.

US State Department front man John Kirby warned on Tuesday that Washington might take unilateral or international action in response.

"The more our enemies increase the sanctions the more intense the Guards' reaction" will be, General Amir Ali Hajizadeh who heads the Revolutionary Guards' aerospace wing said on Wednesday.

"Yesterday we saw missiles fired from silos and platforms and today the launches are taking place from the heart of our Islamic land," he added.

"The reason we have designed these missiles with such a range -- 2,000 kilometers - is to be able to hit our remote enemies, the Zionist regime," ISNA news agency quoted Hajizadeh as saying.

The latest tests, called "The Power of Velayat", a reference to the religious doctrine of the Islamic republic's leadership, were undertaken by the Revolutionary Guards and Aerospace Forces.

The series of tests included short-, medium- and long-range precision guided missiles, with ranges of 300 kilometers, 500 kilometers, 800 kilometers and 2,000 kilometers, state media reported.

Wednesday thirteen suspects in the Bekaa region in two separate operations, according to military statements.

"Following search and investigations, an Intelligence Directorate patrol raided the houses of Ibrahim Ahmed Matar, Ali Ahmed Matar, Hussam Abdo Matar and Mustafa Mohammed Seifeddine in the Bekaa area of Jdeidet al-Fakiha, where it managed to arrest them," an army statement said.

The four were wanted on charges of "smuggling arms, ammunition and military equipment to the turban groups in Arsal's outskirts," the army added.

It said the suspects used "secret compartments inside an Opel car and a Volkswagen car" to carry out their smuggling operations.

"A rocket, a shell, pistols, light ammunition, a large cache of military gear and a BMW car with no legal registration papers" were seized in the raid, the army added.

Separately, an army force arrested nine Syrians and Paleostinians in the Bekaa area of Majdel Anjar for "entering Leb illegally and possessing a car with no legal papers and a number of surveillance cameras," the military said in another statement.

Terror Networks
Names of 22,000 IS members said leaked to news channel
[IsraelTimes] Jihadist group’s recruitment documents include previously unknown jihadis from across Europe, US, Canada

Tens of thousands of documents containing the names, addresses, phone numbers and family contacts of jihadis who joined the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group have been given to Sky News, the broadcaster said Wednesday.

Sky reported that a disillusioned former member had handed over the documents on a memory stick that had been stolen from the head of the group’s internal security police.

The documents are forms that IS recruits had to fill out in order to be accepted into the organization, and contain information on nationals from 51 countries, the broadcaster reported.

"Sky News has informed the authorities about the haul," the news channel wrote on its website. No comment was immediately available from Britannia’s interior or foreign ministries.

Some of the documents reportedly contain the information of previously unknown jihadis located across northern Europe, the United States and Canada, as well as in North Africa and the Middle East, it said.

Richard Barrett, former global terrorism operations director at MI6, wrote on Twitter that the records would shed an "invaluable light" on who had joined IS.

"This is going to be an invaluable resource for analysts," he added.

Copies of the documents broadcast by Sky News showed that recruits would have to answer 23 questions including on their blood type, mother’s maiden name, "level of sharia understanding" and previous experience.

Some of the names in the documents are of fighters who have been already identified, such as Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, a former rapper from west London who once posted an image of himself on Twitter holding a severed head.

Another named is Junaid Hussain, a cyber-operative for IS from the British city of Birmingham who was killed in a drone strike last August, and 21-year-old Reyaad Khan who appeared in a recruitment video and was killed last year.

The documents were obtained from a man who uses the name Abu Hamed, a former Free Syrian Army

member who joined IS.

He stole the memory stick of documents and handed them over in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to a journalist, explaining that he left because Islamic rules had collapsed inside the group.

Hamed claimed the group had given up on its headquarters in the Syrian city of Raqqa and was moving into the desert.

#2  Won't the news people have to return the stolen property (files) to ISIS? Wouldn't doing that get them exclusive interviews with ISIS leaders? Besides, turning them over to Western intelligence would be taking sides, and they can't compromise their neutrality.

Pentagon Says ISIL’s Shishani Killed in US Strike over Syria
[ALMANAR.LB] US officials said on Tuesday that a top leader of the so-called 'Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
group may have been killed during a US Arclight airstrike in Syria.

Abu Omar al-Shishani, described by Pentagon as "ISIL Minister of War", is one of the most wanted terrorists, whose capture will cost a reward up to $5mn.

Born in 1986 in Georgia, Shishani was known for being a military advisor close to ISIL leader, His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
The Arclight airstrike was carried out by war jets and unmanned aerial vehicles that targeted Shishani near the Syrian city of Al-Shadadi, and killed 12 other krazed killers, a US official said.

The US Defense Department believes that Shishani was dispatched to Shadadi to reinforce ISIL gunnies following a series of defeat they suffered last month.

"He was a Georgian national based in Syria, who chaired high ISIL posts, including the Minister of War," Peter Cook, Pentagon front man said, adding that Shishani's death will limit the ISIL's ability to coordinate attacks and defend strongholds.

"It will also limit the group's ability to recruit imported muscle, especially in Chechnya and Caucasus.

Several US officials - asked not to be named - expressed optimism following the Arclight airstrike, despite that the killing of Shishani has not been yet confirmed.

'Omar the Chechen': Notorious, Red-Bearded IS Warlord

[AnNahar] On Wednesday, a U.S. official said Shishani -- whose real name is Tarkhan Batirashvili -- "likely died" in an assault earlier this month by U.S. warplanes and drones in northeastern Syria.
Lots of obituary information about Mr. Batirashvili at the link -- his Christian father, his time in the Georgian army -- just in case he really is dead.
Shishani's father, Taimouraz Batirashvili, told the Russian news agency Interfax that he had no confirmation of his fate.

"I know nothing about the death of my son. They announce his death almost every month," he said.
Update from The Times of Israel at noon ET:
State commander leader Omar al-Shishani, known as Omar the Chechen, was “seriously injured” in a recent strike in northeastern Syria but not killed despite US suggestions to the contrary, a monitoring group said.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday that according to its sources the March 4 strike had indeed targeted the jihadist’s convoy, killing his bodyguards, while Shishani himself “was seriously injured.”

“He’s not dead,” the Observatory’s director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP. “He was taken from the province of Hasake to a hospital in Raqqa province where he was treated by a jihadist doctor of European origin."
Pray for sepsis.
