Historian Victor Davis Hanson chronicles the sad decline of the once great state of California in his book, The Decline and Fall of California: From Decadence to Destruction. Clearly modeled on famous British historian Edward Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Hanson's book makes it clear that the increasingly dystopian California has been the author of its own decline. Haven't read the book but the review jibes with a lot of what I've seen. I can tell you that there are still a lot of days in that narrow coastal enclave that are quite enjoyable even if you have to share the road with liberal bicyclists in their spandex. I've been to flyover country and I know the people there are more reasonable. But the weather and the ocean here make it very difficult for me to contemplate leaving.

The thing is, if you stop and look around the place is still beautiful and full of beautiful people so you don't notice the decline. Assuming you aren't looking for a job and aren't pulling out your hair about the water crisis.

Islands of beauty, La Jolla, Malibu, Newport Beach, Pacific Palisades, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Half Moon Bay, Lake Tahoe, even here in the Sacramento area, Granite Bay and El Dorado Hills, so many are insulated from what has happened, but go to National City, Santa Ana, Boyle Heights, Oakland, most of the Central Valley, and you see the disaster, overwhelming illegal and immigrant demographics, agricultural jobs devastated by the drought and no water catchment infrastructure or dams in decades, water resources diverted to the urban areas, no manufacturing, regressive tax rates, cumbersome regulatory environment for small business, environmental contraints down to individual tree removal permits for selected species, high cost of living and high taxes on everything. AN idiot governor who plans spending massive debt on a silly train that will never be successful, and you see the future of the US. Pure insanity to let progressive/socialists do this through corruption, massive immigration to overwhelm the power of the citizens, schools that literally teach hatred of their own nation....I weep for what was here, and what is coming for the rest of you.

The total number of Turkish troops is 150 military personnel, and they are present in the vicinity of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , which ISIS has been occupying for a year and a half now.
And anyone who thinks the escalating Russian threats against Turkish troops on the borders with north Syria are only against the Turks is also wrong, as this border area is a zone where armies and militias from across the world are competing.
Iran, Iraq and Russia's mounting aggravation against The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... implies this is a plan to curb Turkey and cancel its regional role, so that Tehran can become the decision-maker in Iraq and Syria, thus achieving its project without anyone confronting it in the region. This has been happening in a five-year crisis that has seen the U.S. retreat, and do nothing except issue statements of solidarity.
Mosul troops
The Turkish battalion present outside Mosul arrived there at the invitation of the former governor of Mosul for the purpose of training the city's young men who volunteered to defend their city after Iraqi government forces fled, and Lions of Islam entered the governorate's countryside. Mosul was left to ISIS, and the Popular Mobilization Forces did not choose to liberate it since the latter consists of sectarian Shiite militias and was actually formed by Iran as an alternative to the Iraqi army. It is therefore Iran who actually trains, equips and directs them.

[NATION.PK] Tashfeen Malik, the female shooter in the San Bernardino attack that killed 14 last week, is believed to have links with Abdul Aziz's Lal Masjid ...literally the Red Mosque, located in Islamabad and frequented by all sorts of high govt officials. The proprietors, Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, unleashed their Islamic storm troopers on the city, shutting down whorehouses and beating people up who weren't devout enough. The Musharraf govt put an end to the nonsense by besieging the place. Abdul Aziz Ghazi was nabbed while he was trying to escape dressed up like a girl. BBC reported that the corpse count at 173, but other claims, usually hysterical, say there were up to 1000 titzup. Among their number was Abdul Rashid Ghazi. Everyone then said tut-tut and what a nice guy he had been... . Or at least that's what US officials are being reported to have conveyed to the Pak government representatives in a recent meeting in London. Insiders confirm that evidence was provided to the Pak contingent showcasing Tashfeen's affiliation with Lal Masjid, coupled with the unsaid, and yet deafening, call to 'do more'.
Believing that Tashfeen Malik was sent by Lal Masjid holy man Abdul Aziz on a terror mission to Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, would be generous overestimation of the madrassa's reach, if not aspirations. More crucially though, buying the interior ministry's off the record claims that Aziz is 'no longer a threat' domestically, is underestimation of the same.
