Afghanistan
Taliban militants have reportedly captured Wardoj district of Badakhshan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Talibs have reportedly seized control of Wardoj district in the restive northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan.

The district administrative chief Dawlat Mohammad Khawar confirmed that the Afghan cops have retreated from Wardoj following hours of shootout with the Talibs.

He did not confirm if the control of the district was fully seized by the holy warriors and did not comment regarding the casualties as a result of the clash.

The security officials confirmed Wednesday that festivities were underway between the Afghan cops and the Talibs in Wardoj district.

Badakhshan is among the relatively volatile provinces in northeastern Afghanistan where the anti-government armed holy warriors are actively operating in its various districts with Wardoj being one of the most restive districts.

The Talibs have carried out numerous attacks in Wardoj district during the recent months.

One of the deadliest attacks on Afghan cops check posts was carried out earlier in April this year where at least 23 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred.

Fighting Ongoing In Kunduz Despite Recapture of City
[Tolo News] Thousands of reinforcement troops were on Thursday still fighting their way northwards along the Baghlan-Kunduz highway in order to help secure the embattled city of Kunduz where fighting has again broken out -- this time in three separate areas.

In an overnight operation, local security forces and special forces stationed at the city's airport, carried out a counter-offensive to take back the city after it fell to holy warriors on Monday. Officials say that 6,000 security force members in total took part in the operation and were assisted by U.S forces.

Speaking to TOLOnews earlier Thursday Gen. Murad Ali Murad, the deputy chief of staff of the Afghan National Army (ANA), told TOLOnews that security forces - particularly the special forces, with the help of coalition air support - had retaken control of the embattled city after launching an offensive at about 11pm Wednesday night.

According to Murad hundreds of Taliban holy warriors were killed during the offensive.

Murad said ongoing clearance operations are underway in various parts of the city and province and will continue until the holy warriors have been fully suppressed.

Another official said Thursday that security forces have requested government's permission to conduct house-to-house searches in the city for Taliban fighters who are in hiding.

Security force members in the city have however called for backup. But breaching defense lines along the Baghlan-Kunduz highway, which is the primary route leading into the northern provinces, has been a major challenge for hundreds of reinforcement troops who have come under heavy fire from the Taliban.

Key obstacles facing the troops include landmines and checkpoints where the holy warriors lie in wait to ambush the convoy of troop carriers, tanks and armored vehicles.

The immediate area is heavily wooded -- making it easy for the holy warriors to hide. They are reportedly also using heavy artillery against the troops in their bid to keep them from reaching the city.

It is believed the convoy is only about 50kms from the city but currently they are inching forward very slowly.

Meanwhile Parliament's Speaker of the House Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said Thursday morning that a team has been appointed to investigate the collapse of the city to the Taliban.

He said one of the possible reasons for the collapse of the city was that the Kunduz governor Omar Safai was irresponsible and inexperienced and he failed to get people to stand by and support security forces. Another reason, he said was the delay in a planned military operation.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
he said that the Kunduz residents face serious hardships. Many he said had fled the city and some were sleeping out in open fields. "The hospitals are not working and there is no food. The bakeries are closed," he said.

He called on government to meet with aid organizations to assist in assessing the problem and to get help for those affected.

Ibrahimi also said that exact casualty figures were not yet available.

He did however say that local police must not be blamed for the collapse of Kunduz and instead they must be praised for fighting off the Taliban.

Tunisians defuse terrorist 'car bombs' on Tatouine Libya border
[Libya Herald] Tunisian security forces appear to have foiled an attempt to infiltrate boom-mobiles as well as arms and explosives from Libya in an incident about which details remain slight.

Three vehicles without registration plates were yesterday trying to cross the border ditch near Dhehiba in the eastern Tatouine governate. They were intercepted and fired on by members of the Tunisian National Guard. One vehicle was able to flee back across the border into Libya but two others were seized.

At this point details become murky. Tunisian Ministry of Defence front man Belhassen Weslati told local radio that one of the captured vehicles had been booby-trapped with a grenade and an boom belt. This device was successfully defused.

Rooters however has reported that both vehicles were rigged as boom-mobiles and also contained ten Kalashnikovs, RPGs, explosives, Libyan telephone cards and documents with the insignia of Islamic State

.

It is unclear how many, if any, of the occupants of the two vehicles were detained. Tatouine is widely believed to have become a staging post for holy warriors moving between Libya and Tunisia.

A second attack on Turkey's Misrata consulate
[Libya Herald] The Turkish consulate in Misrata is reported to have been attacked for a second time in a week.

Stills from CCTV footage circulating on social media appear to show a battered white pickup without plates, stopping in front of the building. It is being said that the video was taken early this morning. However none of the screen grabs is time-stamped.

In a distant indistinct shot, an individual who appears to be masked, gets out of the vehicle at about the same time that smoke from a small kaboom seems to be billowing into the street.

The consulate has been shut since an attack three days ago, in which a grenade was thrown at the building. That incident was thought to be related to the new Turkish requirement for Libyans to obtain visas, which has caused considerable ill-feeling, particularly in Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). -controlled areas. The only damage in that attack was to the outer wall of the consulate.

It was not possible to contact anyone from the Turkish embassy to confirm details of this apparent new attack. It is not know if consular staff had actually been withdrawn from Misrata after Monday's attack. The Libya Herald was told at the time that the consulate would reopen as soon as the authorities could assure its security.

New fighting reported in Tripoli
[Libya Herald] Heavy fighting
... as opposed to the more usual name-calling or slapsy...
broke out on several fronts in and around Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
this evening as fighters from what was previously the Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). alliance battled one another.

On the city outskirts, near the Wadi Rabie barracks, east of Tripoli International Airport, a battle was reported to have broken out between Misrata bully boyz and gunnies loyal to Haitham Tajouri, with exchanges of artillery and machine gun fire. Three Misratans from Al-Merdas Brigade were reported to have been killed in the fighting.

One eyewitness reported "houses are on fire, families are fleeing, there are grads (missiles) exploding".

The two militias battled along a series of roads skirting the city, with one militia, or possibly local people, putting containers across streets to stop any advances.

One report said the fighting began after Tajouri's gunnies blocked a road leading to a Misratan base and detained a Misrata militiaman. Fighting was also reported in Suq Al-Juma, with the eastern coastal road closed.

At the western edge of the city, an kaboom, possibly a grad, reportedly damaged the 17-kilometre bridge in Janzour, on the coastal highway, leaving at least seven dead. The bridge is now the frontline between forces loyal to the Libya National Army and House of Representatives and those supporting the Tripoli regime. The former have operated a checkpoint there for the past two days.

Meanwhile festivities with machine gun fire were heard in Shara Omar Mukhtar in downtown Tripoli as well as in Zawiat Al-Dahmani, although both may have been nervous gunnies firing into the air. There was also firing in Algeria Square while a fresh attack on the Ruhaimi prison at Ain Zara was also reported, but unconfirmed.

The centre of the capital was otherwise deserted this evening with people off the streets. Locals told the Libya Herald that gunnies had been firing heavy artillery randomly into air and that people were scared to go out.

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, Buford bit the snake and Eloise began speaking in tongues...
there was gunfire in the Warshefana stronghold of Najila west of Tripoli international airport .

The fighting comes amid uncertainty about peace talks taking place at the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
in New York.

Misratan units last week pulled out of positions west of Tripoli, with pro-HoR forces from Zintan and the Warshefana moving in to take control of Janzour naval base and cut the coastal highway, the last Libya Dawn-secured route to the Tunisian border.

IS attacks Sidra

(IS) forces launched a lightning strike on a checkpoint at Sidra oil terminal late this afternoon. According to Ali Hassi, the official front man the central Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG), one guard was killed and two others maimed. Another report says two guards died in the attack.

It is not known exactly where the IS gunnies came from. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
Sidra is only 50 kilometres east of IS-controlled Nufaliya, and 190 east of Sirte, now the central IS power base in Libya.

Pro-Hadi forces retake Yemen's Bab-el-Mandeb: Army source
[AA.TR] Forces loyal to Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi -- and backed by Saudi-led air power -- have retaken the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait from the Shia Houthi myrmidon group and allied forces loyal to former President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, a senior Yemeni military official has said.

Forces loyal to Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi -- and backed by Saudi-led air power -- have retaken the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait from the Shia Houthi myrmidon group and allied forces loyal to former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh, a senior Yemeni military official has said.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Anadolu Agency that army troops and pro-Hadi "popular resistance" committees had reestablished control over the strategic waterway and the island of Mayoun.

The Bab-el-Mandeb is the narrow strait -- considered highly strategic -- that separates the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa and links the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

The military source provided no further information about the operations that led to the waterway's recapture.

Bahraini King's Son Injured in Operation by Yemeni Military
[ALMANAR.LB] Prince Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the son of Bahrain's king, was injured in a missile attack by the Yemeni army and the Popular Committees on a military base of the Saudi-backed forces in Ma'rib, Yemen, sources in Manama confirmed on Wednesday.

On September 14, several sources revealed on their twitter accounts that Khalid had been either killed or injured in Ma'rib.

According to al-Safir newspaper, Khalid has not appeared in front of the public ever since then and was even absent in the funeral ceremony of Dubai ruler's son and the media have just been informed by his office that he is running affairs and fulfilling his daily duties.

But sources close to Khalid told the daily on Wednesday that he had been injured in Ma'rib, without disclosing further details.

The report came after informed sources announced on September 21 that son of the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, was also killed in the Yemeni revolutionary forces' attack in Ma'rib province, rejecting claims that Sheikh Rashid has died of heart attack.

"Sheikh Rashid and a number of other UAE forces were killed in a Yemeni forces' Katyusha attack in Ma'rib province and reports on his death as a result of a heart attack are only aimed at deceiving the Emirati people who are demanding withdrawal of the UAE troops from Yemen," the Yemeni Press quoted informed sources as saying.

The UAE news websites had claimed that Sheikh Rashid had died of a heart attack.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan Kills 25 Militants in Northwest
[ALMANAR.LB] Pakistain's military said it had killed 25 Death Eaters in air strikes along its restive border with Afghanistan on Thursday as part of a major offensive to clear Taliban and Al-Qaeda strongholds that began last year.

The strikes were carried out close to the Datta Khel area of the North Wazoo tribal region, the main bastion of the Death Eaters who rose up against the state in 2004.

"Twenty-five bad boyz were potted in precise aerial strikes today," the military said in a brief statement.

The conflict zone is remote and off-limits to journalists, making it difficult to verify the army's claims, including the number and identity of those killed.

Overall levels of militancy-linked violence have dropped dramatically this year, with 2015 on course for the fewest deaths among civilian and security forces since 2007 -- the year the Pak Taliban umbrella group was formed.

Iraq
After major losses in Kirkuk, ISIS releases video of beheading Peshmerga captives

(ISIS) supporters released a video footage Wednesday evening that shows the beheading of several Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers by the group.

The video shows the gruesome beheading of seven Peshmerga soldiers who had been taken captive by the radical group in the last several months.

In the video one Peshmerga is seen reciting verses of the Koran under his breath as another is saying his final prayers of Shahada.

The footage appears in high quality and quiet background, which is likely to have been filmed and produced days before it surfaced on the Internet.

ISIS released the video shortly after it suffered heavy losses Wednesday morning at the hands of the Peshmerga who launched a major offensive west of Kirkuk.

The Kurdish military command said that they captured 140 square kilometeres in the offensive and killed at least 40 ISIS forces of Evil near Mount Batiwa.

Some of the Peshmerga slain by ISIS in the video were captured in January after the group targeted the Kurdish frontlines south of Kirkuk in a predawn attack.

Families of the Peshmerga prisoners said in July that they reached an understanding with local Sunni tribal leaders for a possible prisoner exchange between the Peshmerga ministry and the holy warriors.

ISIS has beheaded other Peshmerga soldiers in the past including the execution of officer Hujam Surchi before a large crowd in djinn-infested Mosul

Palestinians shoot up car in West Bank killing parents in front of their children
[Ynet] Parents murdered while four children physically unhurt after bully boyz in vehicle fire at victims' car on road between Itamar and Elon Moreh.

A husband and wife in thier 30s, Eitam and Na'ama Henkin from the settlment of Neria, were killed in a drive-by shooting attack on the road between Itamar and Elon Moreh in the West Bank on Thursday night. Their four children aged 9, 7, 4 and 4 months were in the car and were said to be physically unharmed but treated for shock.

The IDF confirmed that two Israelis were killed in the shooting attack, and that its forces were conducting sweeps in the area in an attempt to capture the perpetrators.

"It was a very difficult sight," said MDA paramedic Boaz Malka. "We saw a car in the middle of the road with a man in his thirties next to it with wounds to his upper body, and a woman in her thirties inside the car also seriously maimed in her upper body. They were without signs of life, and unfortunately we had to declare them dead at the scene."

Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, front man praised the attack by the "brave resistance," calling the murderous act "heroic," and vowing to continue the struggle against Israel. The organization call for its members to carry out more attacks against Israel.

The Popular Resistance Committees also "blessed" the attack, saying it was a natural reaction to "Israeli crimes."
The Times of Israel adds:
Netanyahu on Thursday blamed Paleostinian incitement for a deadly shooting attack that killed an Israeli couple near Nablus on Thursday night.

The murdered couple, Eitam and Naama Henkin, are survived by six children.

The Israel Defense Forces launched a manhunt for the killers, ordering the deployment of four infantry battalions to aid in the search. The military also began closing off Beit Furik, near the site of the attack, where it is believed the perpetrators are from.

Minor festivities between Israelis and Paleostinians followed the terror attack. An Israeli woman was injured in a rock throwing incident near the Hawara checkpoint close to Nablus. She was taken to Beilison Hospital in Petah Tikva for treatment. A Paleostinian woman and her three children were said to be lightly injured in a rock throwing attack by settlers in the Paleostinian village of Burin, west of Beit Furik.

Israeli Spy Device Found in South, 12 Suspected Terrorists Arrested in Tripoli
[AnNahar] An Israeli spy device was discovered Wednesday in the outskirts of the southern town of Bani Hayyan in the Marjeyoun district, media reports said.

Hizbullah

's al-Manar television said the device was found in the town's al-Arid area.

It said it consisted of "a camera fixed inside an artificial rock and wired to a number of batteries."

Later in the day, state-run National News Agency said the device was found during excavation works, adding that it was dismantled by the army after a security cordon was imposed in the area.

NNA noted that the site had been an Israeli military post prior to Israel's withdrawal in the year 2000.

Several similar devices were discovered in the South in recent years, some of them booby-trapped, still others continue to send GPS signals.

In September 2014, Hizbullah military expert Hussein Haidar was killed as an Israeli drone remotely detonated a spy device he was dismantling in the southern coastal town of Adloun.

Russia Launches New Airstrikes against Terrorists in Homs, Hama, Idleb
[ALMANAR.LB] The Russian Air Force carried out more air strikes on 12 ISIL positions in Homs, Hama and Idleb as part of the agreement between Syria and Russia to eliminate the terrorists' presence in Syria.

Russia Today website quoted Russian Defense Ministry front man Gen. Maj. Igor Konashenkov as saying in a statement that "a terrorist HQ and an ammunition depot were destroyed near Idleb, as were a fortified three-level command center near Hama."

"A direct bomb hit also completely destroyed a workshop north of Homs that produced explosives and ammunition," he added, saying that at this workshop faceless myrmidons were stuffing vehicles with explosives, which were then used to carry out terrorist attacks.

20 air strikes targeted 8 ISIL positions in Syria on Wednesday, according to the Ministry. Those included ammunition warehouses and command and control centers.

ISIL faceless myrmidons in Syria as successful.

Eight positions of the terrorist group were targeted successfully during the raids, Russian Defense Ministry front man Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday following the Arclight airstrikes.

"Ammunition depots, weapons, fuel and lubricants, accumulation of military equipment have been struck as a result of the Arclight airstrikes," Konashenkov added.

He also said the command and control posts of Daesh in the area had been "completely destroyed," emphasizing, however, that "the civilian infrastructure and the nearby territory was not stricken."

In a relevant context, the Ministry announced that the Russian landing ships in the Mediterranean and Russia's Black Sea Fleet forces will take part in the Russian air operation against terrorist organizations in Syria to protect the Russian military facilities in Tartous and Lattakia.

In the meantime, commander of a CIA-trained group told Rooters that two Russian air strikes in Syria Thursday hit a training camp operated by holy warrior groups that received military training organized by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Qatar

Hassan Haj Ali, head of the Liwa Suqour al-Jabal terrorist group, said the camp in Idleb province was struck by around 20 missiles in two separate sorties.

As the Syrian Army prepares an offensive near Homs and Hama, Russian and NATO aircraft struck Islamic State in Syria (ISIS) targets Wednesday according to both English and Russian language news reports and news releases.

According to a news account in regnum.ru, Russian bombers struck an ISIS training center and ammunition depot near Maaret En Nuuman in Homs province. According to Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman General Major Igor Konashenkov, a direct hit on ISIS ammunition supplies detonated ammunition, which in turn destroyed ISIS vehicles and buildings.

According to a report in ria.ru, Russian aircraft totaling 50 aircraft struck 12 ISIS targets including an ISIS command post in El Latamna and an ammunition ammunition depot near Tel-Bissau. North of Homs, Russian warbirds hit an ammunition factory at Al-Rastan.

According to a report by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin, many of the vehicles are painted in desert camouflage scheme, and presumably will be turned over to Syrian government forces. The vehicle group was seen traveling from Krasnodar in southern Russia to Novorossiysk.

Upcoming Syrian Offensive

A Syrian Army offensive is to be launched soon between the towns on Homs and Hama, according to a separate news account in regnum.ru.

Quoting a Syrian armor formation commander identified as Bassam Ahmad Mayrub, the new offensive is set to eliminate ISIS and Dzhebhat al-Nusra isolated armed groups between the two towns. Although the Syrian Army claims to control the roads, according to Bassam Ahmad Mayrub, sufficient numbers of rebel units operate in the area to warrant the new offensive.

According to the same report, a Syrian Army operation that took place in the last day or so on the border between Idlib and Homs eliminated three top Dzhebhat al-Nusra commanders and 107 others.
