[The Press Interprise] A gunshot from a sheriff's helicopter and a subsequent head-on traffic collision left a home invasion suspect dead and three motorists hospitalized in San Bernardino, where the incident closed a major freeway shortly before the evening commute.
That gunfire made the incident highly unusual. Law enforcement officers rarely open fire from helicopters in the United States, say experts, some of whom can recall it happening only once or twice in more than 30 years.
The drama began when deputies tried to arrest the holdup suspect during the lunch hour Friday in Fontana.
The fleeing suspect sped through Fontana and San Bernardino at speeds topping 100 mph and ended up traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes of I-215, said Deputy Olivia Bozek.

"Hey, kidsh, never drive when you're schnockered!"
I read this story a long time ago. She dove off the pier in one dimension and landed in the water in another one. [LAIST] A naked woman was rescued far out in the water from the Newport Beach coast and officials are still flummoxed over how she got there. "What do you think, Mahoney?"
"I dunno, chief! I'm flummoxed."
"Let's ask Professor Jones!"
"Yeah! He's a famous scientist!"
Around 10 a.m. last Sunday, two kayakers heard a 28-year-old woman calling for help in the water three miles out from the Newport Harbor jetty, reports the L.A. Times. "Help! Help!"
They found the woman--whose identity has not been released--alone without a boat, floatation devices or even a bathing suit. "Lookidat, Kevin! She's nekkid!"
Just to clarify, "she was completely naked," Sgt. D.J. Haldeman of the Orange County Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol told the Times. "She din't have no clothes on!"
The woman managed to stay afloat in the deep waters since the night before, according to the Harbor Patrol. She said she had been swimming near 19th Street on Saturday around 5:30 p.m.--about three miles up the coast from where she was found--when a rip current swept her out to sea. Some time during her roughly 16-hour ordeal, she ditched her swimsuit "so it wouldn't restrict her in her abilities to swim," Haldeman tells the Times. "That wuz when she got nekkid!"
Harbor Patrol deputies fully expected to treat her for hypothermia, but impressively she seemed fine. "Seen her boobies an' ever'thing!"
Besides her lack of swimwear and good condition after a long, cold swim, authorities are also puzzled by how the woman got out there in the first place. "How come none of you guys speak Esperanto? Where are all the flying cars?"
Officials haven't been able to find anyone who saw the woman go into the water Saturday night, including lifeguards stationed near 19th Street. "Nope. Ever'body I saw had her clothes on!"
The woman said that she left her belongings there, but the Fire Department hasn't been able to find any unattended items. If they had been found Saturday night, it would have triggered an investigation into her disappearance. Wait a day or two and the real story will come out. This one smells like a washed-up beluga whale...

This isn't the 19th century. What kind of bathing suit was she wearing? Ah, she must have been Muslim.

I notice it comes in the 100kg size, Sven. Mr. Wife's taxi driver in Cairo would have been pleased, as that in his eyes was the mark of a beautiful wife. He was very polite when Mr. Wife showed him my picture -- in those days I weighed less than half the beautiful amount.

It all sounds pretty sketchy. These are just the kind of excuses you make when you are an indestructible terminator robot from the future and got beamed down in the ocean rather than land like the plan called for.
Short version for TWIG absence was a data breach. Long version is that 90 percent through the base data compiling (which takes about 2.5 hours), I apparently pressed refresh, which destroyed all cached data as well as what I had compiled at that point.
Thanks to swksvolFF for filling in on Sunday.
swksvolFF mentioned he went to the gun range last weekend, which is where I'm headed as well. It will be much cooler and it may even rain (it's an outdoor range), so the shooting conditions will be perfect.
Earlier this week in the Facebook Ace O'Spades Moron Lifestyles page, someone posted a link to a Palmetto State Armory AR-15 kit. The kits had everything except the receiver, a dustcover, a charging handle and a forward assist, all for $299.
The kit had a problem in that the upper assembly had a front sight post, but the rear had nothing but a Picatinny rail. I suggested once assembled, it would probably be a bear to sight in.
Apex Gun Parts in Colorado, interestingly, has a Colt Commando kit for sale, the real thing with an 11.5 inch barrel, but no receiver for about $700. The problem for that rifle was that it requires a short (11.5 inch) barrel, which makes it under NFA rules a pistol. Build that rifle with a shoulder stock, and you are in violation of the NFA, punishable by jail and fines.
Worth noting is the fact that the Colt Commando is the same model used in the big bank heist shootout in the film "Heat". Dunno why the armorer for that film decided to go with a short barreled rifle, though.
SG Ammo, a company based in Oklahoma has IMI manufactured 5.56x45mm M-193 ammunition for sale. You can evaluate the price and the quality, but you will need something like this to feed your AR.
SG Ammo also had a number of other 5.56x45mm ammunition for sale including some 177 grain 5.56mmx45 ammunition. I was told later that a rifle with a 7 twist or less could be required, as well as a bull barrel to fire those rounds.
Prices for pistol ammunition were steady while rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.
Prices for used pistols and prices for used rifles were mixed.
Once again the AR-10 Pattern Rifle for the second consecutive time, has tested a new low average price at $840.

Should have been at the range again today; had to fix a gate.
Had one malfunction the other week, round 248, a misfeed easily corrected, and first anything - interesting to know what the firearm is like when things do not go right.
Stronger person than I, a computer fugg like that would have given me a new range target.
Just gonna throw this out there for all y'all with safes which rely on batteries for primary opening - just take a few minutes after the game and put in fresh batteries. Especially if you do not know when you changed them last - or have never changed them.
[CNN] Elements of Burkina Faso ...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other... 's military declared they were in control of the nation after presidential guards stormed a Cabinet meeting and seized the President and the Prime Minister -- days before the general elections.
Guards detained interim President Michel Kafando and other government ministers during the raid in the capital Wednesday, the United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... said.
It's unclear where the guards took the President, Prime Minister Isaac Zida and the other officials.
Hours after their detention, an unidentified military official took to the airwaves Thursday and said the group, now calling itself the National Council for Democracy, "decided to put an end to the deviant transitional regime."
The official announced that the country's new leader would be a former general, Gilbert Diendere. He was an adviser to former President Blaise Compaore, who stepped down under pressure by protesters in 2014 after ruling for 27 years.
The interim government failed to establish a "democracy based on consensus," the military official said on national television.
The official highlighted a series of steps the military is undertaking that include removing the transitional president from office, dissolving the government and forming a broad coalition that will focus on policies that will lead to inclusive elections.

A group of Russian hackers linked to Moscow's government have for seven years been targeting intelligence information from governments and organizations in the United States, Europe, and Asia, according to a new report from researchers at F-Secure.
The hacking group, named "The Dukes," employed nine "unique malware toolsets" to hack computer networks and steal data, two of which are new variants that allowed researchers to connect the group to the Russian government.
"The research details the connections between the malware and tactics used in these attacks to what we understand to be Russian resources and interests," said head researcher for the investigation Artturi LehtiĂś. "These connections provide evidence that helps establish where the attacks originated from, what they were after, how they were executed, and what the objectives were. And all the signs point back to Russian state-sponsorship."
The group has been using hacking techniques to bolster Russian intelligence for at least seven years. The report specified targets including the former Georgian Information Center on NATO, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, and the ministries of foreign affairs in Turkey and Uganda.
The Russian hackers also targeted western political think tanks and government organizations.
Researcher Patrik Maldre described the report as shedding "new light on how heavily Russia has invested in offensive cyber capabilities, and demonstrate that those capabilities have become an important component in advancing its strategic interests."
"The report confirms the need for current and prospective NATO members to strengthen collective security by increasing cyber cooperation in order to avoid becoming victims of Russian information warfare, espionage, and subterfuge," Maldre said.
The report comes just a month after the Pentagon confirmed that Russia launched a "sophisticated cyber attack" on an unclassified email system used by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The attack affected about 4,000 military and civilian employees of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, including Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey. I forget...what happened in the U.S. about, oh, 7 years ago?
[BusinessInsider] Japan's parliament voted into law Saturday a defense policy shift that could let troops fight overseas for the first time since 1945, a milestone in Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's push to loosen the limits of the pacifist constitution on the military.
Abe says the shift, the biggest change in Japan's defense policy since the creation of its post-war military in 1954, is vital to meet new challenges such as from a rising China.
Again, CHINA + JAPAN = RUSSIA + GERMANY [China?] = CHINA IDEALLY WOULD LIKE NIPPON TO ABANDON THE US-WEST + BE IN ITS CAMP AGZ SAME - Ditto s per getting the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. ASEAN to switch to China agz the US-West, BUT ESPEC JAPAN + IN LESSOR THE PHILIPPINES.
I have argued or inferred that the best way or one way for China to achieve this is for the US = Anti-US US OWG Globalist POTUS Obama or his POTUS Successor to NOT live up to the US' various Mutual Defense-Security Treaties wid its East Asia Allies. THE LATTER WILL BECOME ANGRY AT THE US DUE TO THEIR NATION-SPECIFIC, SEEMING LOSS OF INTEGRATED OR CLAIMED TERRITORIES, TRADE, ETC. TO CHINA DUE TO US ACTIONS = FAILURES.

[FreeBeacon] The Obama (spit) administration has restricted the U.S. Pacific Command from sending ships and aircraft within 12 miles of disputed Chinese-built islands in the South China Sea, bolstering Beijing's illegal claims over the vital seaway, Pentagon leaders revealed to Congress on Thursday.
"The administration has continued to restrict our Navy ships from operating within 12 nautical miles of China's reclaimed islands," Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) said in opening remarks criticizing the failure to guarantee safe passage for international commercial ships in Asia.
"This is a dangerous mistake that grants de facto recognition of China's man-made sovereignty claims," he said.
The South China Sea is a strategic waterway used to transport $5 trillion annually in goods, including $1.2 trillion in trade to the United States. "The Great Retreat" - kind of sucks.

OH YEAH, ANOTHER MIGHTY RIGHTEOUS HOMER SIMPSONIAN "DOH"! IS HEARD AGAIN OVER THE PACIFIC, FROM A MADONNA FAN IN GUAM.

IFF CHINA + PLA CANNOT DETER OR AVOID DIRECT US MILITARY INTERVENTION IN ANY EAST ASIA MIL CONFLICT AGZ US REGIONAL ALLIES - THE SCS [Philippines, Vietnam] + ECS [Japan, Taiwan] + INDIA, IT MUST DETER OR PREVENT ANY USDOD INTERVENING MILFORS FROM GETTING TOO CLOSE TO THE MAIN THEATERS OF COMBAT/BATTLE - CHINA, THEN, NEEDS LUZON BOTH TO SECURE TAIWAN'S FLANK, + IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT ITS LR MISSLE + AIRPOWER FORCES HAVE THE FARTHEST OR GREATEST EFFEC RANGE THEY CAN GET TO ATTACK ANY US INTERVENING MILFORS IFF NEED BE STILL IN-COMING FROM WESTPAC OR CENTPAC.
AFAIC the Bammer has just laid the foundation for the presently facadial or nominally

What God, Madonna, + my Ancestors foresaw many decades ago hasn't wholly happened yet, BUT THE US-WORLD = JUDEOCHRISTIAN/NON-MUSLIM WORLD HAS PUT ITSELF ON THE PATH + ITS NOT CLEAR IFF THEY CAN GET OFF EVEN IFF THEY TRIED TO.

In what may seem like a Hollywood blockbuster, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has developed an implant that goes directly onto the human brain.
The agency wrote in a statement their device is showing promise with improving patient's memory tests scores. It is "raising hope that such approaches may someday help individuals suffering from memory deficits as a result of traumatic brain injury or other pathologies." Will I be able to 'mind link' directly to my HP printer or will I need a USB cable ?
DARPA's Restoring Active Memory (RAM) program presented their preliminary findings at the 'Wait, What? A Future Technology Forum,' which is also hosted by the agency at St. Louis. At present, educational/academic systems are dominated by people who have good memory & good communication skills---but not paricularly bright or creative otherwise

Cyborgs do not eat normal food; rather, they eat special processed protein bars which provide nutrients for their remaining organic parts. This "food" does not taste good to those who still have organic taste buds due to an inability to manipulate taste input cybernetically.
[CSM] In a vote that settled almost neatly along party lines (241-187), the House passed legislation that will block federal funds to the heath care provider for a year. The bill, which has little chance of being enacted as Democrats hold enough votes in the Senate to block it, is aimed at appeasing GOP outrage over abortion before it spirals into a government shut down that could harm party appeal.
The GOP outrage is sparked by secretly recorded videos showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing how to take tissue from aborted fetuses for medical research. While Planned Parenthood say they have acted legally and the tapes were edited, the videos have launched abortion into a prominent issue for the coming presidential election. After what has been revealed about 'Planned Parenthood' I cannot fathom anyone voting in favor of continued funding, but they are dems, so that in itself may explain it.

A lie from th Ass[ociated] Press.
The outrage is about PP selling baby parts for profit. And developing procedures to maximize their profits.
At least Ghouls wait until you are dead first. Usually...

If it can't be stopped, REGULATE it like everything else. Demand that each aborted baby be photographed, registered, and named (identified) before payment is made. The Nazis kept very accurate records. It's the least we could do.

After what happened in the Soviet Union, China and Cambodia, etc. under the Coms, I can't believe anyone can still be a "socialist".

Actually, you can regulate it to death--or something close. Our Governor in South Carolina just ordered 2 of our 3 abortion facilities to close because they violated numerous state laws.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
