The Kentucky insurance commissioner recently approved rate increases averaging 25 percent for the Kentucky Health Cooperative in 2016. The co-op said the additional revenue would help reduce its losses.
But private insurance companies are greedy, rapacious, running-dog capitalists if they try to raise rates to reduce losses?
Gee, it's almost like they want the private insurers to fail!

Government is just a word for things we f&*k up together.
[PJ Media] State Department officials told a federal court today that the BlackBerry devices belonging to former Hillary Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin have likely been destroyed or sold off as surplus.
Were they properly sanitized, if that's the correct word, before selling on, or is this another class of people with access to classified emails, beyond the NSA, various nation's spy agencies, and the more sophisticated jihadi organizations' hackers? Also, did this happen suddenly when the things might be subpoenaed, or ages ago in the ordinary course of business?
Judge Emmet Sullivan had ordered the State Department to file a reply to Judicial Watch's August 17, 2015, response no later than 12:00 p.m. Wednesday. I would guess that Blackberry network email traffic is backed up.
Judge Sullivan yesterday issued a court order granting Judicial Watch's request for a hearing this Thursday where State Department officials will have to explain what steps they've taken to track down Mrs. Clinton's emails, and what electronic devices she and two of her closest advisors may have used to send them.

I believe "The Server" was compromised almost immediately after it began whirring. China, Russia and who knows who else, has been reading Ms. Clinton's e-mails for some time, and more than a few of them were derogatory towards Mr. Obama. An official from China, Russia, or who knows who else, let some of the e-mails slip to Mr. Obama, who was not, er, pleased. This would explain the Water Torture that Ms. Clinton now finds herself and the seeming unwillingness for Mr. Obama to stop the investigations. See also the photos showing a tortured William Clinton at the golf course this weekend past.
Also, substitute "Jarret" for "Obama," and the above still works.
mostly sympathetic article but did have some nuggets like
Numerous donors said in interviews that to avoid the potential reputational taint of a much bigger gift to a group like Priorities USA Action, they preferred the longstanding practice of bundling, or gathering wealthy friends to make traditional contributions to Mrs. Clinton's campaign. The 2016 limit is $5,400 for the primary and general elections.
"There are people who don't like giving to super PACs," said Thomas R. Nides, a friend and former aide to Mrs. Clinton at the State Department who is vice chairman at Morgan Stanley. "But be clear ‐ if we have any shot in real campaign finance reform, we need to get her elected."
(One option if Clinton donors continue to refrain from giving to Priorities USA Action would be to establish an affiliated nonprofit group to which contributions could remain anonymous. Doing so, though, would exploit a loophole that is "obviously much worse" than a super PAC, said Lawrence Lessig, a Harvard professor who is exploring a Democratic run for president on a single issue: campaign finance reform. Priorities USA Action already was criticized for accepting $1 million from another liberal group which in turn gets its money from two nonprofits whose sources of funding were not disclosed.)...
To bridge the divide between her campaign message and the need to raise enormous sums, Mrs. Clinton tells donors that the only way to overturn the Citizens United ruling and do away with super PACs is to elect a Democrat. "We can't unilaterally disarm," she often says, sounding a refrain long heard from politicians promising to overhaul the campaign finance system, including Mr. Obama in 2012.

She hasn't accepted PAC money because of deep personal priciples. And she you don't like those principles, she has others she can use.

This was suppose to be a money making tour. I guess her paying audience became 'more selective'.

Another thought: as I recall, last time her campaign owed significant debts, and so the brand new Secretary of State had to do some serious fundraising to cover the shortfall. Given her demonstrated money management skills, what odds she will find herself in a similar situation this time?

Huh? From the woman who approved putting 20% of our Uranium production under the control of the Russians in exchange for a pittance of a donation to her foundation?
[Wash Times] RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - The Riviera Beach City Council will vote Wednesday on a proposed street name change from Old Dixie Highway to Barack Obama Highway.
"Each member will vote Yay or Nay to rid this city of a street name that still invokes memories of racism and slavery in the Old South" says Mayor Thomas Masters.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in City Hall Chambers at 600 W. Blue Heron Boulevard in Riviera Beach.

It will always be the Old Dixie Highway whatever they name it to satisfy today's PC requirements. Leave it as is--changing it will not stand for anything. More lefty feel-good B.S.

...from Old Dixie Highway to Barack Obama Highway.
Seems appropriate. Narrow, shabby, unkempt, bumpy road that might embarrass any but the poorer counties in possession of such a venue. I'm sure it was cutting edge of transportation 80 years ago, but using the term 'Highway' is way beyond its ranking today.

I wonder how long it will be before they try to rename US Route 1 in Virginia. Right now it is Jefferson Davis Highway.
Maybe the SJWS should just expel all the old Confederate states.
By the way, I am a Yankee, born and bred, but I am getting sick and tired of all this PC crap of trying to purge any memory of slavery.

It always causes a lot of confusion and inconvenience when the name of any highway, road, street or any other type of public thoroughfare is changed for whatever reason. Confusion and inconvenience are liable to cause lost revenue. Just plain stupid.
According to Wikipedia the origins of the name Dixie remain obscure. Three possible origins are given and only one of them has any connection to slavery.
[Rooters] Hillary Clinton's lead in the race for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination has narrowed and her overall favorability ratings have fallen to their lowest levels since 2001, CNN reported on Wednesday.
It said 47 percent of Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters surveyed in a poll this month said they supported Clinton for the party's nomination, down 9 points since July and marking "the first time her support has dipped below 50 percent in national CNN/ORC polling on the race."
Backing for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, her closest rival for the Democratic nomination, has risen 10 points since July to 29 percent, CNN said. Vice President Joe Biden, who has yet to announce whether he will run, is third at 14 percent.
[Daily Caller] A group of special operations veterans and intelligence community officials have formally asked Secretary of State John Kerry to strip former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of her security clearance along with three of her top aides, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.
The organization, called the Special Operations Educational Fund, wrote Kerry August 5 asking that he "immediately suspend the security clearances" because of Clinton's use of a private unsecured email server and domain name that contains classified information. SOF is a 501 (c) 4 nonprofit group.
The group also asked Kerry to administratively suspend the security clearances of Clinton and aides Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin and Jake Sullivan.
The SOEF demands could significantly escalate the email crisis that has engulfed Clinton's campaign for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination in recent weeks. The suspension of a access [security clearance] is SOP when someone is involved in an investigation such as this. A failure to suspend access brings into play the question: will anything come of this?
