Afghanistan
66 Taliban and Daesh Insurgents Killed in Nangarhar Drone Strike
[Tolo News] At least 66 Taliban and Daesh Death Eaters were killed in seven separate drone strikes by foreign forces in eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province on Tuesday, local officials said on Wednesday.

The drone strikes started in Haskamina and Sherzad districts of the province at 4pm local time on Tuesday and continued for almost three hours, a front man for the Provincial Governor Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.

"Forty six Taliban Death Eaters were killed in Haskamina and Sherzad district and 20 Daesh fighters were killed in Haskamina district of the province," he said.

There were no civilians casualties during the operations, he added.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the Taliban and Daesh have not yet commented on the strikes.

Haskamina and Sherzad are both considered insecure districts in the province - in which Death Eaters are active and frequently target local security forces and threaten residents, said officials.

Military Operation Launched to Re-Take Control of Sar-e-Pul's Kohistanat
[Tolo News] A large-scale military operation launched in northern Sar-e-Pul province on Tuesday to re-take control of Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
at district has so far claimed the lives of at least eight Taliban Lion of Islams, said officials.

In addition, two security soldiers were maimed during the operations.

The operation is named Khoursheed 3 and is being jointly conducted by the Afghan National Army (ANA), Afghan National Police (|ANP) and National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS) to clear the district and re-take control of Kohistanat district, a commander of the ANA's 209th Corps, Ghulaam Farooq said.

"The operation still continues in the district slowly because the bully boyz have placed more roadside mines in the area. So far eight bully boyz were killed in festivities with security forces. Insurgents had been found wearing security force uniforms," Farooq said.

He said the police and NDS forces are also participating in the operation and that "we don't need air support now but if we need their support, the air force is ready to help us."
Until now, no civilian casualties have been reported, he said.

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
the Taliban have not yet commented about the operation.

On Tuesday, the First Vice-President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
said the Taliban and other Lion of Islam groups have sold out and are puppets to foreigners. He also reiterated his previous statement that if bully boyz fight security forces they will be eliminated.

Dostum, who is currently visiting battle-weary Faryab province which borders Sar-e-Pul, drove home the fact that unless the Taliban drops their weapons, they will be taken down by the security forces.

In addition he said anti-government armed oppositions were fleeing Faryab.

Dostum however praised the Afghan special forces in Faryab for their commitment to fighting insurgency in a bid to restore peace.

Video: Islamic State Threatens to Kill Croatian in Egypt
[NYTIMES] A purported Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group video released Wednesday threatened to kill a Croatian hostage if Egyptian authorities do not release "Moslem women" held in prison within 48 hours, a day before the country plans to unveil a highly promoted new extension of the Suez Canal.

The video, circulated on social media by Islamic State sympathizers, shows a man wearing a yellow jumpsuit kneeling in the desert before a knife-wielding masked man in military fatigues. An Islamic State flag flutters next to him and the video identifies it as coming from the Islamic State affiliate in Egypt's lawless Sinai Peninsula.

Reading calmly from a note in English, the man identifies himself as Tomislav Salopek, a married, 30-year-old father of two, adding that Islamic State fighters captured him on July 22. If Egyptian authorities do not act, he said, "the soldiers from Wilyat Sina will kill me." Wilyat Sina is the Arabic phrase for the Egyptian group calling itself the Sinai Province of the Islamic State.

Boko Haram kills six, abducts 50 in Cameroon: Soldier
[AlAhram] Suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists have killed at least six people and kidnapped more than 50 in a raid on a village in northern Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
, according to a soldier sent to the scene.

The attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday in the village of Tchakamari in the region known as the Extreme North, which is on the border with Boko Haram's Nigerian strongholds.

A vigilante from a neighbouring village gave a higher toll, saying eight had been killed, 135 kidnapped and many homes burned.

"Boko Haram attacked the village of Tchakamari at around one in the morning Tuesday, killing at least six people," a soldier sent to the site of the attack told AFP.

Cameroon, which is part of a regional force fighting Boko Haram Lions of Islam from neighbouring Nigeria, has been hit by a series of deadly attacks by the Islamists in recent months.
Update from An Nahar at 8:45 a.m. ET, with confirmation of the higher numbers:
Suspected Boko Haram Islamists have kidnapped 135 people in a raid on a village in northern Cameroon which left eight villagers dead, local sources said Wednesday. A police source confirmed the corpse count and the number of people kidnapped.

The attack came as Guinea offered help in the regional fight against Boko Haram whose bloody insurgency in Nigeria has increasingly spread to neighboring states. Guinea's President Alpha Conde said his country was ready to help in the regional fight against the Islamist Lion of Islams.

"We are ready to provide any assistance asked of us... in the fight against Boko Haram," Conde said on a visit to Niger's capital Niamey.

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight...
Nigerian authorities said Wednesday that more than 1,000 nationals had returned home after being deported from northern Cameroon. Last week, local sources in Cameroon said Yaounde had deported more than 2,000 Nigerians living illegally in the north of the country. But Nigerian officials put the number far higher, saying that around 12,000 people had already been expelled, with the number expected to rise to 17,000.

holy warriors rubbed out nine fishermen in a village near the shores of Lake Chad in northeastern Nigeria, a leading fisherman and a survivor said on Wednesday.

The men were heading towards the fishing town of Baga on Tuesday when they were stopped by the krazed killers, dragged out of their van and bumped off, said Abubakar Gamandi, head of the fishermen's union in Borno State.

"From the information I got from survivors of the attack, nine of my members were killed by Boko Haram gunnies on their way to Baga from Monguno.

They were ambushed at Maduwari village," he told AFP.

"Soldiers engaged the attackers in a shootout and killed 13. They also recovered an all-terrain vehicle from the gunnies as well as the vehicle of the victims."

Two vans were taking a group of 17 fishermen to Baga when the convoy spotted the murderous Moslems blocking the way ahead, said Grema Ari, who was in the second vehicle and survived the ambush.

"They dashed into the road when they heard us approaching. Our driver managed to turn back and headed to Monguno," he told AFP.

The vehicle in front was forced to stop however and its passengers were brought out and rubbed out, Ari and Gamandi said.

"Later soldiers brought the bodies of our nine colleagues bearing bullet wounds to Monguno," Ari told AFP.

"They also brought the vehicle that was conveying our colleagues and another one belonging to the gunnies."

Britain
UK charges radical preacher Choudary with inviting support for IS
[CBSNEWS] Authorities in Britannia have charged radical preacher Anjem Choudary
...Self-proclaimed holy man who used to work for Omar Mohammed Bakdri as spokesman for al-Muhajiroun. Anjem is a loathesome little attention prostitute who is to be heard cheering for the home team anytime anybody with a turban manages to slaughter a group of unarmed infidels. Anjem was born in the UK in 1967 and is, as you would expect, of Pakistaini descent. The Ghost of Dante is of the opinion that when he goes to hell his knees will be broken once a month...
and another man with inviting support for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Wednesday that Choudary, 48, and Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, 32, have been charged with supporting ISIS, which is a banned
...the word banned seems to have a different meaning in Pakistain than it does in most other places. Or maybe it simply lacks any meaning at all...
organization
. The service said the offenses occurred from June 29, 2014, until March 6 of this year.

"We have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest to prosecute Anjem Choudary and Mohammed Rahman for inviting support for ISIL, a proscribed terrorist organization," said Sue Hemming, head of special crime and counter-terrorism at the CPS, in a statement.

"It is alleged that Anjem Choudary and Mohammed Rahman invited support for ISIS in individual lectures which were subsequently published online," she said.

Each man is charged with one offence under Britannia's Terrorism Act 2000. They were set to appear on Wednesday at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Choudary is the former leader of a banned radical group called al-Muhajiroun
...formerly Omar Bakri Muhammad's spin off group from Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain, where the detestable lunatic Anjem Chaudry got his start. More recently the name adopted by al-Qaeda in East Africa for operations in Kenya and Tanzania. It is subordinate to al-Shabaab but will probably be strong enough to fly on its own, given an uninterrupted flow of petrodollars, should the Shaboobs collapse....
. A British-born lawyer turned Islamic preacher, he has for years been asserting his democratic right to call for an end to democracy.

"You cannot have man legislating and playing God in Parliament, and at the same time believe that Allah is the only politician," Choudary told CBS News correspondent Clarissa Ward in a June 2014 interview.

India-Pakistan
'Pakistani militant' captured after attack on military convoy
[NATION.PK] Srinagar: Indian forces captured a Pak holy warrior today after a deadly attack on a military convoy in the disputed Kashmire region, Indian officials said.

The accusation could further raise tension between the nuclear-armed neighbours following a recent attack on an Indian cop shoppe in which seven people were killed and intermittent festivities on their disputed border in Kashmire.

A group of murderous Moslems attacked an Indian army convoy in the south of Jammu and Kashmire state earlier on Wednesday, killing two soldiers and wounding eight.

The murderous Moslems fled into forest, taking three passersby hostage. Soldiers later stormed a hilltop school where they were holed up, killing two of them and capturing one, officials said.

"In our preliminary questioning, he has said he is from Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
, Pakistain," Danish Rana, inspector general of police, told news hounds. He identified the holy warrior as Usman, 22.

"We are going to find out what route he has taken, what was the target," he said.

She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. Southeast Asia
NPA gun down three suspected turncoats
[Inquirer] Three alleged New People's Army supporters were killed on August 1 in Davao City on suspicion they helped the military in killing a top militant leader and in the capture of another as part of the continuing purge of possible deep penetration agents within the NPA ranks.

The Philippine army on Wednesday received reports saying the victims, all from the Paquibato district, were killed in "quick succession" in the evening because they were supposedly responsible for the death of Leoncio Pitao, alias Parago, and the capture of Christopher Rollon, alias Joel, by the military.

The first victim, identified as Nelson Anggoy, alias Felimon/Opaw, had a standing arrest together with Pitao. The report said a clash on June 14 this year that left three NPA militants dead was originally an operation to serve that warrant.

The military said that Anggoy was forcibly taken from his residence last Saturday evening by three militants armed with M16s. His body was later found along with several empty bullet shells.

The second victim, Joel Caran, lived just across the river where an clash with Army Task Force Minion led to Pitao's death. Three NPA militants armed with M16s shot him several times while he was sitting in front of his house.

The third man, Henry Delgado, was killed by NPA militants in front of his wife.

Brig. Gen. Benjamin R. Madrigal Jr said the NPA purge was nothing new. He said the NPA has eliminated those they believed to be military assets in the past. He said, "They are now murdering their own in an effort to cleanse their ranks, The NPA has exposed its ugly head. We call on everybody to join hands with us to stop this menace to society."

Fatah Army regains villages from Army near Sahl al-Ghab, fears rise amid supporters
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] In less than one week, key Islamist rebel group, the Fatah Army, was able to regain villages and hills from Syrian regime army in northern province of Idlib, a move has triggered panic amid Bashir al-Assad's supporters in the neighboring Sahl al-Ghab plain and pushed tens of Alawite families to fled their villages.

Last Saturday, the regime army and allied militia NDF had regained control over several northwestern villages from rebels in Sahl al-Ghab which is crucial for defending coastal areas that Assad holds. But very soon its victories returned to humiliating defeats.

On Tuesday, the alliance of Islamist groups took control of Tel Hekmah, Tel A'awar and Marj al-Zuhour near south of Jisr al-Shughour town to the northeast of Sahl al-Ghab, as well rebels have recaptured Zaizoun thermal station in the plain, activists said.

The predominantly Alawite plain is considered as a main manpower supply for Assad army. Activists who praised the advances on social media say rebels' progress can not be stoppable.

The Army of Conquest, or Fatah Army, has made advances against the military in several parts of Syria in recent months, including capturing most of Idlib province.

U.S. drone hits Syria in first lethal strike launched from Turkey

A front man in Washington said the raid by an unmanned drone was launched on Monday from the Incirlik air base near the southern city of Adana in Turkey, a U.S. ally with the second largest armed forces in NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
. Preparations were underway for strikes inside Syria by manned U.S. warplanes.

Until recently, only reconnaissance drones flew missions from Incirlik.

But Turkey formally agreed to open its air bases to U.S. and coalition strike aircraft last month, a major policy change after years of reluctance to take a frontline role against the Islamist fighters pressing on its borders.

Ankara and Washington have been working on plans to provide air cover for a group of U.S.-trained Syrian rebels and jointly sweep Islamic State from a strip of territory stretching about 80 km (50 miles) along the Turkish frontier.

"As part of our agreement with the U.S. we have made progress regarding the opening up of our bases, particularly Incirlik," Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu earlier told state broadcaster TRT, referring to a major air base near the southern city of Adana.

"We're seeing that manned and unmanned American planes are arriving and soon we will launch a comprehensive battle against Islamic State all together," he said during a trip to Malaysia.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem was quoted by state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
on Wednesday as saying Syria supported efforts to combat Islamic State provided they were coordinated with Damascus.

"For us in Syria there is no moderate opposition and immoderate opposition. Whoever carries weapons against the state is a terrorist," he was quoted as saying during a visit to ally Iran, adding Damascus had been informed about the presence of the U.S.-trained rebels.

"The United States contacted us before they sent in this group and said they are fighting against Daesh (Islamic State) and not the Syrian army at all," he said.

"We said we support any effort to combat Daesh in coordination and consultation with the Syrian government, otherwise it will be a breach of Syrian illusory sovereignty.
