While US officials declined to confirm it, Afghan authorities said an American Arclight airstrike Friday killed Islamic State affiliate leader Hafeez Sayeed and more than 30 other murderous Moslems. That comes after Afghan officials earlier said another US Arclight airstrike killed the affiliate's second-highest official, Gul Zaman, and six others, including a former Pak Taliban front man named Shahidullah Shahid who earlier had joined the group.

[IsraelTimes] Flight from Beirut with some 50 families lands in Warsaw while government weighs absorbing 2,000 refugees from Africa, Middle East
Some 50 Christian families fleeing war in Syria have arrived in Poland to begin new lives.
A chartered plane from Beirut carrying about 150 refugees landed in Warsaw late Friday. The Syrians are being taken to a hotel, and within days they will begin the process of requesting asylum and being placed in housing.
A few spoke to news hounds, but they refused to be photographed or filmed, fearful of putting loved ones back home at more risk.
Poland's decision to take in the refugees, who hail mostly from Damascus and other cities, is a humanitarian gesture by predominantly Catholic Poland in the face of a massive humanitarian crisis in Syria.
However, death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... the decision to accept only Christians for now has faced some criticism as being discriminatory against Moslems.
Separately, Poland is also considering accepting 2,000 refugees from Africa and the Middle East as part of a larger European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... resettlement plan.

"the decision to accept only Christians for now has faced some criticism as being discriminatory against Moslems." Plenty of developed Muslim countries the other religion can go to. Note the absence of criticism why this hasn't happened.

[RUDAW.NET] Baghdad celebrated Quds Day with hundreds of people coming out to the streets holding photos of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and of deceased Iranian Islamic Theocratic Republic founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
"The photos of Khomeini and Khamenei that were raised during the Al-Quds Day parade on Friday are used for religious purposes, because those two people are considered religious people and not politicians," Hassan Khallati, the spokesperson of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council Led by Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI, formerly the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, or SCIRII, pronounced Scarey)) is not nearly as supreme as it makes out to be. The al-Hakim family business is merely another one of political parties, this one Shiite and with its power base in the south of the country. The Iranian government sponsored the party's creation in 1982 during the Iran-Iraq war after the leading Iraqi Islamist group was weakened by a government crackdown. Designed as an umbrella organization to unite Iraqi Shi'a groups, the party supports Islamic government controlled by holy men. In post-Saddam Iraq ISCI has worked closely with other Shi'a organizations to provide social services and humanitarian aid. Though accused of receiving money and weapons from Iran, ISCI leaders maintain that the party is committed to democracy and peaceful cooperation. The Badr Brigade initially acted as ISCI's armed wing but later to split to form the independent Badr Organization., told Rudaw. "Raising their photos on this day is normal."
"Those who mix this issue with politics aim to create sectarian division and sedition among the Iraqi people," he said.
However, if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well... not all were pleased with Iranian leaders being featured so prominently in Iraq.
"This is a violation of Iraqi illusory sovereignty, because those two individuals are the supreme leaders in their country," Iraqi MP Khaled Al-Mafraji, the leader of the Coalition of National Forces, told Rudaw.
"Why did they not raise the photos of Iraqi religious leaders instead of Khomeini and Kamenei?" he asked.

[ALMANAR.LB] A large number of ISIL holy warriors have informed Iraqi officials that they are ready to lay down arms and surrender to government troops in Fallujah after the army besieged the city.
"Over 150 ISIL forces of Evil have declared that if the Iraqi troops enter the city they will surrender without any resistance," al-Sumariya news website quoted Iraqi Federal Police Commander Ra'ed Judat as saying on Friday.
On Wednesday, 35 members of the ISIL terrorist group surrendered to the Iraqi forces in the Western parts of Ramadi, Anbar province.
Commander of the third battalion of the Iraqi popular forces Mahmoud Marzi was quoted as saying by Sumariya news that all the holy warriors are from al-Karamah town who joined the ISIL in 2014.
On Tuesday, the Iraqi army, backed by volunteer forces, launched an operation to liberate the strategic city of Fallujah from the control of the ISIL terrorists.
Iraqi officials said the offensive to retake the troubled city, located roughly 69 kilometers (43 miles) West of the capital, Baghdad, began on Monday night, and that government troopers together with volunteer fighters have now reached the gates of Fallujah.
The authorities said that Iraqi forces are now in full control of the Western, Southern and Eastern areas leading to the city.

Does this mean that ISIS really is all hat and not ranch. And when the going gets tough, the leadership ducks out to Crete or Cyprus and leaves the fervent followers to surrender or die?

A BBC documentary has substituted the word “Israelis” for "Jews" in its translation of interviews with Palestinians, its maker has admitted.
Proudly, she admitted...
Lyse Doucet has stood by the decision to translate “yahud” as “Israeli” in subtitles on her hour-long documentary Children of the Gaza War, which airs on BBC Two tonight. The correct translation for “yahud” from Arabic to English is “Jew”.
The BBC’s chief international correspondent said that Gazan translators had advised her that Palestinian children interviewed on the programme who refer to “the Jews” actually meant Israelis. In one instance, a Gazan child says the “yahud” are massacring Palestinians. However the subtitles read: “Israel is massacring us”.
Canada-born Ms Doucet said: “We talked to people in Gaza, we talked to translators. When [the children] say ‘Jews’, they mean ‘Israelis’.
So why not translate what they say as "Jews" and explain, in a voice-over, what the Gazans told her it means?
“We felt it was a better translation of it.”
I'm sure you did...
She added: “We checked this again yesterday.
“We are not trying to cover it up – we took advice on it and that was the advice we were given by translators.”
The programme follows the lives of Israelis and Gazan children during and after the 50-day war last summer. Ms Doucet reports on Israelis who fled their homes in the south of the country during rocket attacks from Hamas, and on Palestinians whose homes were demolished during Israeli air strikes.
She said she was determined to tell the story from the perspective of children.
“Some of the most compelling stories and often the acts of courage come from young children.
“If we want to not just try to understand what is happening in these wars, but also get a glimpse into the future, then I think we have to talk to and hear the children. It tells us a lot about the times we live in and it tells us a lot about the times that lie ahead.”
She said the interviewees on both sides had a “real sense of indignation that they have been robbed of a normal childhood”.

[ALMANAR.LB] Informed sources in Vienna announced that French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has grown angry with the approach of his US counterpart John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State... and for the same reason he had a verbal dispute with Iran's top negotiator Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Informed French sources, speaking on conditions of anonymity, told the Arabic-language Lebanese Al-Ahd news website that Fabius is discontent with the American team of negotiators, adding that he had a dispute with Zarif after he felt the negotiations were going too smooth, Fars news agency reported.
"Fabius is angry with the US negligence towards La Belle France in the nuclear talks and that has resulted in his anger," the sources added.
Late on Thursday night, diplomatic sources in Vienna cautioned that the western powers have toughened their stances after the US lost a self-imposed deadline for a deal with Iran and are raising even more demands from the Iranian team, Fars said.
The source said the western parties to the talks with Iran, specially the US, have in the last few days raised excessive demands beyond earlier agreements, making the road to a draft final nuclear deal even more bumpy.
The source said Iran is determined to clinch a deal and it has shown much flexibility on this path, but the US-led West has been raising excessive demands and shows "fading respect for its earlier agreements with Iran".
"They have started psychological operations and are playing the blame game to make Iran surrender to their increasing demands or wait to be portrayed as the party to blame for the potential failure of the talks," the diplomat added.
The source also strongly rejected the allegations made by certain western media outlets that the Iranian team is referring the opposite sides' proposals or the draft text to Tehran to ask for permission, reiterating that "the Iranian team of negotiators have been vested with full authority to strike a deal on behalf of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran based on the country's specified redlines, and does not need to refer anything to Tehran."
The diplomat strongly warned the western powers' approach in the last few days "is pushing the talks into a deadlock".
Earlier on Thursday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left a new post on his Twitter account, saying, "We're working hard, but not rushed, to get the job done. Mark my words; you can't change horses in the middle of a stream."
Minutes later, US Secretary of State John Kerry also appeared in front of the cameras in Vienna, and said, "Despite all the agreements we have made so far, some tough issues have remained unresolved."
"These issues should be resolved. And tough decisions should be made," he added, and continued, "We want a deal that stands the test of time."
Kerry said the negotiations are not open-ended, but he didn't say how long the talks would last.

[ALMANAR.LB] Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution ...Iran's doddering head theocrat... Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei slammed the United States for its 'absolute embodiment' of arrogance.
During a meeting with a group of university students in Tehran on Saturday, Ayatollah Khamenei called on the land of the Medes and the Persians to be prepared to continue the struggle against arrogant powers. "US is perfect instance of Arrogance. Prepare yourselves for more fight against Arrogance," the Leader said.
"The campaign against arrogance is one of the principles of the [1979 Islamic] Revolution," he pointed out, adding that the Holy Qur'an mandates the drive against arrogance.
There is no respite from the campaign against arrogance, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed in response to a question by one of the students about the status of the campaign against arrogance after the conclusion of the nuclear talks with the P5+1 group of world powers.

Hezbollah is allied with the army and fights alongside it in Syria.

The rebel offensives have so far failed to make much headway in the face of stiff resistance by the army, which has used its superior air power to pound their positions.
The army is also closing in on Islamic State forces of Evil in control of ancient Palmyra in central Syria, with troops seeking to recapture the city of Roman ruins currently around about 10 km (six miles) away.
Iranian-backed Nasrallah said the army had taken back the initiative across most frontlines, including the border city of Zabadani, near the Beirut-Damascus highway, where it and Hezbollah are fighting three years of rebel control.
"What happened in the last few weeks is clear that the scene has changed. The steadfastness of the Syrian army in facing the great campaign in Deraa, Sweida, Hasaka and Aleppo," Nasrallah told supporters.

[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] As has become obvious, the B.O. regime's response to the Syrian conflict is an abject failure. No clear strategy has been determined; the administration's "red lines" have not been honored. The result: a corpse count commonly estimated at between 200,000 and 300,000 people (though it's certainly higher), more than 11 million displaced and numerous cities in ruins.
Nowhere is this failure clearer than in the consequence of the misguided way that Syrian revolutionaries are labeled as either "moderate" or "extremist."

Preliminary exploration operations have found oil shale deposits in southeastern Iran. Probable reserves of shale oil have been discovered in the southeastern Kerman and Semnan provinces, an informed source told official IRNA news agency on July 11.
This would be in what might be considered part of greater Baluchistan...
Prior to that, shale oil deposits had been found in the western province of Lorestan, the source added.
Shale oil and gas reserves in Iran have not been yet measured exactly. Each barrel of shale oil costs $40-$80, while each barrel of crude oil costs $5-$10. So, Iran has not focused on producing shale oil and is merely discovering shale oil deposits across the country.
Once the second-largest producer in OPEC after Saudi Arabia, Iran’s crude output has been reduced to about 2.8 million barrels a day, from 3.6m b/d in 2011, by EU and US sanctions aimed at reining in the country’s nuclear activities. Exports stand at about 1.1m b/d, half their pre-sanctions level.

Perhaps Obama and Kerry can sweeten the deal they're working on by offering to give Iran the necessary technology and expertise to extract the shale oil.

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE'RE [US-West] ARE SSSSHHHH ..... PCCCCCCC GIVING THEM THE BOMB!
In case Iran needs to start attacking foreign lands just for simple, base survival???
The second report, released last week by Germany's domestic intelligence agency, is less ambiguous. The agency, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, confirmed to us that Iran continues to seek illicit technology for its nuclear and ballistic missiles programs.
Iran has had a long history of trying to obtain nuclear technology from German companies, particularly by seeking ways to transport merchandise in circumvention of international sanctions. Since November 2013, Tehran has sought industry computers, high-speed cameras, cable fiber, and pumps for its nuclear and missile program. It appears that Iran's readiness to negotiate does not reflect any substantive policy change. Rather, it is a diplomatic tactic retreat forced by economic distress, not a strategic rethinking of its priorities.
Iran's cheating should give Western negotiators additional resolve to impose ironclad guarantees in the agreement. They should compel Iran to reveal its past activities, including its post-JPOA procurement efforts, and impose tough, intrusive, "anytime, anywhere" inspections before sanctions are suspended, let alone lifted.
Instead, the lack of reporting to the U.N. despite evidence of cheating suggests a lack of resolve on the part of Western nations, and their willingness to downplay all but the most egregious violations. This does not bode well for the future. If Western powers are reluctant to penalize Iran for trying to evade sanctions because they're afraid of spoiling the negotiations, what will happen in the future when Western powers have even more invested in preserving an agreement?
