[MEDIAITE] Memphis Mayor A C Wharton has called for the removal of the grave of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest from a city park, along with an attached memorial.
"These relics, these messages of this despicable period of this great nation, it's time for those to be moved," Wharton said in a presser Thursday.
Most historians believe that Forrest was also the first Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan, although he later distanced himself from the group as they became more violent. "This is not just an ordinary monument," Wharton said. "This is a monument to a man who was the avowed founder of the organization that has as its purpose the intimidation, the oppression of black folks."
The local Sons of Confederate Veterans are opposed to the mayor's proposal, naturally. Its leader calls Forrest "very well respected, and a military leader who is still studied worldwide in military academies today."

Methinks the Libs + aligned have gone too far wid this Confederate flag removal.
As predicted, FERGUSON + OTHER "POLICE ABUSE" INCIDENTS have utterly failed to start a "race war" in the US, but pushing this Confederate flag removal thingy could end up actually putting America = Amerika on the path to a de facto SECOND CIVIL WAR.
-Bedford-Forest tradaded slaves but made of point of not selling them to people who teated thelm badly. True(?)
-Had Black body-guards during the war. True?
-Creted the KKK as an anti-carpetbagger movement. In fact according to that site his first his first action was against a Black man who beat his wife. Truee?
-Made a speech in front of a Black assembly telling "he had never been an ennemy of the Negro race" (at that time neither Balaks or Whites consdered this term as insulting). This should be verifiable. If that speech really took place then the simple fact he was invited to speak at a Black assembly is significant.
-Like Beauregard, he spent his last years helping Blacks. True?
-Was mourned by many Blaks when he died. That should be easily verifiable. just read the press relases about his death.
The foling is a pro Bedford-Forrest article about most of the pints I talked about.

Klan propaganda horseshit, JFM. Typical self-serving paternalistic bilgewater at three removes. Forrest was responsible for the Fort Pillow massacre of USCT artillerymen, and bragged about the slaughter afterwards. He was a liar, a slaver, and a war criminal, whatever his other military virtues.

Late in the war while serving under General Stephen D. Lee, Forrest experienced tactical defeat at the Battle of Tupelo in 1864. Concerned about Union supply lines, Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman sent a force under the command of Maj. Gen. Andrew J. Smith to deal with Forrest. The Union forces drove the Confederates from the field and Forrest was wounded in the foot, but his forces were not wholly destroyed. The General and his troops hid in the woods and were not located by the Union forces. They couldn't see Forrest for the trees.

The frenzy with which this wave of liberal guilt and manipulative race hustling is amazing. Literally destroy history and all traces of a past that you don't like. The rate of the entropy of the Republic continues its acceleration under Champ, and many of the things being done inside government may never be undone, moving the inevitable confrontation that seems to loom once the money stops buying votes and favors....It didn't have to be this way but it seems to be framing along demographic lines in spite of many who hate that idea....

Revisionists, break out the Comet
And rub out your history, or bomb it!
Knock statues of debbils
All down from their jebels

link A convention and BBQ was held by the Independent Order of Pole-Bearers Association at the fairgrounds of Memphis, five miles east of the city. An invitation to speak was conveyed to General Nathan Bedford Forrest, one of the city's most prominent citizens, and one of the foremost cavalry commanders in the late War Between the States. This was the first invitation granted to a white man to speak at this gathering. The invitation's purpose, one of the leaders said, was to extend peace, joy, and union, and following a brief welcoming address a Miss Lou Lewis, daughter of an officer of the Pole-Bearers, brought forward flowers and assurances that she conveyed them as a token of good will. After Miss Lewis handed him the flowers, General Forrest responded with a short speech that, in the contemporary pages of the Memphis Appeal, evinces Forrest's racial open-mindedness that seemed to have been growing in him.
Ladies and Gentlemen I accept the flowers as a memento of reconciliation between the white and colored races of the southern states. I accept it more particularly as it comes from a colored lady, for if there is any one on God's earth who loves the ladies I believe it is myself. ( Immense applause and laughter.) I came here with the jeers of some white people, who think that I am doing wrong. I believe I can exert some influence, and do much to assist the people in strengthening fraternal relations, and shall do all in my power to elevate every man to depress none. (Applause.) I want to elevate you to take positions in law offices, in stores, on farms, and wherever you are capable of going. I have not said anything about politics today. I don't propose to say anything about politics. You have a right to elect whom you please; vote for the man you think best, and I think, when that is done, you and I are freemen. Do as you consider right and honest in electing men for office. I did not come here to make you a long speech, although invited to do so by you. I am not much of a speaker, and my business prevented me from preparing myself. I came to meet you as friends, and welcome you to the white people. I want you to come nearer to us. When I can serve you I will do so. We have but one flag, one country; let us stand together. We may differ in color, but not in sentiment Many things have been said about me which are wrong, and which white and black persons here, who stood by me through the war, can contradict. Go to work, be industrious, live honestly and act truly, and when you are oppressed I'll come to your relief. I thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for this opportunity you have afforded me to be with you, and to assure you that I am with you in heart and in hand. (Prolonged applause.)
Whereupon N. B. Forrest again thanked Miss Lewis for the bouquet and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. Such a kiss was unheard of in the society of those days, in 1875, but it showed a token of respect and friendship between the general and the black community and did much to promote harmony among the citizens of Memphis.

[MONEY.CNN] NBCUniversal, under pressure from an array of Hispanic groups, is severing its business ties to presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The Miss USA pageant, scheduled for July 12, will no longer air on the network. Nor will the Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for next January. Both pageants were, until now, jointly owned by NBC and Trump.
"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values," the company said in a statement on Monday. "Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump."
Speaking to news hounds after a campaign event in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,... , Trump said he had enjoyed a "great" relationship with NBC but would not back down on his views about immigration. Trump told CNN correspondent Athena Jones that he may sue NBC.

OK gringos, listen up.
N - The letter eñe is used with words such as "piñata," "jalapeño" and "piña colada". B - Spanish "b" closely resembles the "b" in the word "boy," except that the lips are held tense. C - Spanish "c" closely resembles the English "k" sound.
Your next leftist liberal language lesson will be in Arabic أمريكي.
C is pronounced K only in front of A, U, O or a consonant. In front of E and I it is prounced S but with the tongue between the teeth. You need to be able to make it sound different since there is a second S-like sound (this one like the English S) and some words change meaning depending on what S sound you use.

That pronunciation guide is only valid for Old World Spanish (Spain), dear JFM. In the New World former colonies, the soft C sounds exactly like an S, the lisped S being considered a mark of the effete former rulers. On the other hand, New Worlders are equal opportunity mockers, taking on the overly enunciated Mexicans and the ts of Chile with similar glee... or so my university Spanish instructors informed us.

Depends, TW. A few days ago I had the occasion to speak with a woman and I only guessed she was not Spanish when she used a word no longer used in Spain. In fact she was Argentinian but from Cordoba. Unlike in Buenos Aires population comes mostly not from Spain but from Italy and speaks with some italian-like sounds, in Cordoba people are from Spanish stock and use Spanish sounds without the long tonic syllabs of central Americans, and with diferentiated S and Z.
As an example "Voy a caZar esos dos tortolitos" (I am goint to hunt these two doves). "Voy a caSar esos dos tortolitos" (I am going to celebrate a marriage between those two young lovers)

Yeah, I remember the time Trump started mouthing off in a bar I was in about Mexicans and I had to kick his ass and teach him a lesson. In fact, I think I did it twice. Or was it three times?

It won't be hard to boycott NBC. I never watch it anyway.
I'll have to start watching it so I can boycott it.

Now I know something about Argentina that I did not before. Thank you, JFM.
[MONEY.CNN] Puerto Rico can no longer make payments on its $73 billion in debt, according to Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla, who warns the island is perilously close to entering a "death spiral"
"The debt is not payable ... there is no other option. This is not politics, this is math," Garcia Padilla told the New York Times ...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... in an interview published Sunday evening. "But we have to make the economy grow. If not, we will be in a death spiral."
The warning comes just one day before the governor is expected to release a report, conducted by former officials at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, that paints a very bleak picture of the commonwealth's finances. According to media reports, the governor will deliver a major speech Monday following the report's release.

And no one got anything for your debt. Just like Greece.
You are black holes in the world.
What do you plan to do about YOUR state spending?

PR bond holders were getting something like 10% tax-free interest according to one report I read; for rates like that you know you're assuming a lot of risk (they're on the order of 100 times money market rates.) Default, without bailout: it's the only way to teach the needed lesson about investment risk.

See also YAHOO NEWS > [AP] WHITE HOUSE: NO FEDERAL BAILOUT OF PUERTO RICO.
The Bammer Admin prefers the PR Govt. formally declare bankruptcy - IMO such a move will put PR under Federal + UNO/IMF REceivership, including possible Martial Law = Military-run Govt???
As per FREEREPUBLIC, any formal PR bankruptcy may have serious effect on FLORIDA's economy + PR Community.

Puerto Rico is treated like a state for bankruptcy purposes. Which means Puerto Rico can't declare bankruptcy.
