Al Qaeda militants in Libya attack Daesh after leader killed
Benghazi –- Al Qaeda-linked militants in eastern Libya declared war on a local Daesh affiliate on Wednesday after one of their senior leaders was shot dead by masked gunmen, setting off clashes between the rival militant groups that left 11 people dead on both sides.
Yummy green-on-green...
The clashes erupted after gunmen opened fire on Nasr Akr, an Al Qaeda-inspired militant once jailed in the UK on terrorism charges. The 55-year-old veteran militant, who fought in Afghanistan, was killed along with his aide.
Life in a British prison doesn't look so bad now does it Nasr...
Akr’s group, known as the Shura Council of Darna’s militants, announced his killing in a statement on Wednesday, blaming it on Daesh militants. It accused the group of “tyranny and criminality,” and vowed to wage “holy war against them until none of them are left.” It also called on residents to rise up against the extremist group.
Sure, they'll get right on that...
The ensuing clashes killed at least nine Daesh militants and two from the Shura Council, including Salem Derbi, the commander of the so-called Abu Salem Brigade, which has history of enmity with Daesh.

A Daesh affiliate seized control of Darna last year after veteran militants returning from Iraq and Syria united the city’s fractured extremist factions and killed off rivals.

Derbi belongs to a generation of militants who turned Darna into a militant stronghold in the 1980s and 1990s during an insurgency against longtime dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Darna was the main source of Libyan militants and suicide bombers who joined the insurgency in Iraq after the US-led invasion in 2003. Entire brigades of Darna natives fight in Syria’s civil war.

Despite his militant past, Derbi and his followers once secured a visit to the city by Libya’s elected leaders, signifying support for a democratic government, albeit one that would enforce Islamic law.

Islamist terror suspects on trial in France had list of kosher grocery stores

shootings, allegedly planned attacks similar to those in Gay Paree in January

Members of a radical Islamic group went on trial Monday in Gay Paree after French prosecutors alleged they planned terror attacks similar to those on a kosher grocery and a satirical newspaper that left 17 victims dead in January.

Mohammed Achamlane, the leader of Forsane Alizza (Knights of Pride), was among the 15 group members on trial. Two of the 15 were absent Monday, including a minor to be tried in juvenile court.

The group was dismantled amid a crackdown on snuffies shortly after a 2012 killing spree in southern La Belle France by Mohammed Merah, who attacked a Jewish school and soldiers, killing seven people before being bumped off by police.

Achamlane was nabbed
You have the right to remain silent...
in the western city of Nantes. He and others are charged with criminal association with the aim of preparing terrorist acts.

A computer file marked "targets" of Forsane Alizza listed multiple kosher groceries and the magazine Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
, scenes of the January attacks that left 20 dead, including the three gunnies.

Achamlane denounced the attacks from his jail cell in a letter to Sherlocks and said he had nothing to do with them, according to court documents. There are no known links between the group and the January attackers.

At the time of their arrests, Gay Paree Prosecutor Francois Molins said Forsane Alizza members received physical training in the parks and forests around Gay Paree and religious indoctrination "in order to take part in a jihad." The group preached hate and violence on their Internet site which "called for an Islamic caliphate in La Belle France, the application of Sharia (law) and incited Moslems to unite to prepare for civil war," Molins said.

A lawyer for the group, Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, said on the iTele TV station the trial "risks hurting freedom of expression" because issues concerning Moslems can be associated with terrorism.
An Nahar adds:
Led by 37-year-old "emir" Mohammed Achamlane, the 15 members of Forsane Alizza, who called themselves the "knights of pride", have denied involvement in a terrorist organization.

Achamlane told the court he had no "terrorist inspiration" and only wanted to defend Moslems against mounting Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
in La Belle France.

The group was formed in 2010, gaining attention for organizing protests against the government's decision to ban veils in public.

It was disbanded two years later by the government, which described it as a "private militia."

After it was disbanded, the group put a message on its website demanding that French forces leave all Moslem-majority countries.

"If our demands are ignored, we will consider the government to be at war against Moslems," the message said.

Achamlane told the court on Monday that he was only calling for the "legitimate defense" of his community, adding "I am not racist, I am not an anti-Semite."

Achamlane also tried to explain why he had released videos of himself giving inflammatory speeches with Kalashnikov rifles in the background, and using phrases such as "By all-powerful Allah, we will put scars on La Belle France."

"We wanted to make a provocative video with a wall of Kalashnikovs and my bearded head to redress the balance," he said, specifying that he felt Moslems were "excluded" from French society.

"There is no radical or moderate Islam," he added. "There is only authentic Islam."
Others have said the same, oddly enough.
A police raid in 2012 led Sherlocks to fear the group was armed, although it remains unclear if the weapons found were real or usable.

Each member of the group faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. The trial is due to run until June 22 or 23.

Another DSP gunned down in Landhi
[DAWN] KARACHI: Another deputy superintendent of police was bumped off in a Landhi locality on Tuesday, officials said.

DSP Majeed Abbas, 53, was the third DSP targeted in a short span of four weeks in the city.

The officials said that DSP Abbas was driving a police mobile van and heading to his office when four gunnies riding two cycle of violences intercepted his vehicle in Zafar Town within the jurisdiction of the Shah Latif cop shoppe and fired multiple shots at him.

"He was hit by five bullets all fired from a very close range," said DIG-East Munir Sheikh. "The attackers most probably used 9mm pistols and rode away after the attack. Initial findings suggest that the assailants were four in number but we are not yet sure."

He said that some eyewitnesses saw four men on two motorbikes after they heard firing.

The maimed DSP died while being taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Karachi has been a cauldron of ethnic and political tension for decades, where political parties have murderous Moslem wings, gangs make money through drug-trafficking, land grabbing and other forms of crime, and sectarian violence.

Targeted operations led by Rangers' forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.

Daesh selling girls for price of a cigarette packet: UN
New York -- Teenage girls abducted by Daesh fighters in Iraq and Syria are being sold in slave markets “for as little as a pack of cigarettes”, the UN envoy on sexual violence said on Monday.
Strangely, the National Organization for Wimmin hasn't commented...
Zainab Bangura visited Iraq and Syria in April, and has since been working on an action plan to address the horrific sexual violence being waged by Daesh fighters.

“This is a war that is being fought on the bodies of women,” Bangura said in an interview.
Strangely, Emily's List hasn't commented...
The UN envoy spoke to women and girls who had escaped from captivity in Daesh-controlled areas, met local religious and political leaders and visited refugees in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.

The militants continue to run slave markets for girls abducted during fresh offensives, but there are no figures on the numbers enslaved by the fighters.
Strangely, Code Pink hasn't commented...
“They kidnap and abduct women when they take areas so they have — I don’t want to call it a fresh supply — but they have new girls,” she said. Girls are sold for “as little as a pack of cigarettes” or for several hundred or thousand dollars, she said.
Strangely, Hillary Clinton hasn't commented...
Bangura described the ordeal of several teenage girls, many of whom were part of the Yazidi minority targeted by the militants. “Some were taken, locked up in a room — over 100 of them in a small house — stripped naked and washed.”

They were then made to stand in front of a group of men who decided “what you are worth”.
Strangely, Michelle Obama hasn't commented...
Bangura gave the account of a 15-year-old girl who was sold to a Daesh leader, a sheikh aged in his 50s, who showed her a gun and a stick and asked her “tell me what you want”.

“She said ‘the gun’ and he replied: ‘I didn’t buy you so that you could kill yourself’” before raping her, Bangura said.
Strangely, MS-NBC hasn't commented...
Abducting girls has become a key part of the Daesh strategy to recruit foreign fighters who have been travelling to Iraq and Syria in record numbers over the past 18 months. “This is how they attract young men — we have women waiting for you, virgins that you can marry,” Bangura said. “The foreign fighters are the backbone of the fighting.”
Strangely, the New York Times hasn't commented...
A recent UN report said close to 25,000 foreign fighters from over 100 countries were involved in conflicts worldwide, with the largest influx by far into Syria and Iraq.

The envoy likened the militants’ abuse of women and girls to “medieval” practices and said Daesh wants “to build a society that reflects the 13th century”.
Strangely, the Anglican Church hasn't commented...
Despite the monstrous violence, communities like the Yazidis are welcoming the girls back and offering them support to pick up the pieces of their broken lives, said Bangura. She praised Yazidi religious leader Baba Sheikh for publicly declaring that the girls need understanding, but noted that no such pronouncements had come from the Turkmen leaders.

Bangura returned from a tour of European capitals to discuss the plight of women and girls under Daesh and hopes to address the Security Council soon to discuss what can be done.

A UN technical team is due to travel to the region soon to work out details of the plan to help victims of Daesh sexual violence.
Strangely, the UN Security Council hasn't commented...

#4  Must be quite an oversupply of abducted teenage girls

An oversupply that quickly disappears when the conquests stop. But in the meantime, selling a few back to their communities for exhorbitant ransoms is a lucrative financing source that offsets the cheap prices found in the slave markets.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Zionist forces kill Hamas man coming out of mosque
[ARABNEWS] Israeli forces killed a member of the Paleostinian group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, during a raid in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, witnesses and medics said.

A front man for Israel's paramilitary border police said its troops were in Jenin as part of a predawn operation against suspected myrmidons, when they saw a Paleostinian preparing to throw a pipe bomb at them and shot him.

"He was shot by a unit providing covering fire for the unit that he was about to attack," the front man said.

Jenin residents and hospital officials said the 23-year-old Paleostinian was shot in the back. They said there were no wider confrontations at the time with the Israeli troops.

Hamas, which has a limited presence in the West Bank, claimed the dead Paleostinian as a member.

On a Hamas website, the group said he was killed after coming out of a mosque after prayers there.

The Israeli border police front man said the Jenin raid was not coordinated in advance with the security forces of US-backed Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran's Spy Commander Promises To '€˜Surprise The World'
[Daily Caller] A top Iranian general promised developments in Syria "will surprise the world" as thousands of Iran-backed troops have been deployed to uphold the regime.

Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran's elite Quds Force, expressed the evolving nature of Iran's involvement in Syria while visiting the northwest region of Latakia in late May, home to the Alawite sect of President Bashar Assad.

Soleimani was quoted by Iran's official news agency, IRNA. But the agency claimed it "takes no responsibility for the information," reports Agence France Presse.

Between 10,000 and 20,000 Iranian or Iraqi fighters are reportedly moving to defend Damascus and Latakia. A combat brigade team of 1,500 fighters from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will make up the core of the force.

Observers should take Soleimani's claim seriously, says Matthew McInnis, an expert at the American Enterprise Institute.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fighters typically take an advisory role to local forces where Iran seeks to exert military control. But as war in Syria has intensified, endangering Iranian ally Bashar Assad, Iran has been pushed into a difficult position.

"He has to do it," McInnis told The Daily Caller News Foundation, referencing Soleimani's increasingly limited options for keeping the Assad regime intact. Iranian fighters could become directly involved in combat, specifically around Damascus and in the northwest.

This could lead to a "battle-hardened IRGC," breaking the psychological barrier from an advisory position to combat. "Once they've done that, it's going to be easier for them to think about boots on the ground in other areas of the region," said McInnis.

Assad forces burn hundreds of acres planted with grains, olives in Homs
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian regime forces and allied militias have burned hundreds of acres planted with grains and olives in al-Houleh region in Homs province, activists told Zaman al-Wasl Tuesday.

For the third year, Bashir al-Assad's forces have been targeting wheat and olive corps in harvesting season, in step to harden living condition of people who already live under siege.

Activists of Tal Dahab town in al-Houleh countryside said locals and civil defense units were able to put out the fire after hundreds of acres totally had been burned out.

Southern Front rebels to attack military airport in Sweida
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] A day after taking control of a major army base in Daraa province, Southern Front rebels on Wednesday announced a new offensive to capture a military airport near Sweida city, the main stronghold of Syria's Druze minority.

Al-Tha'leh airport is rebels' second target after the takeover of Liwa 52, or the 52nd Brigade, one of the biggest Syrian army bases in the area.

The recent gains is a setback for Bashir al-Assad reflecting the mounting pressure on him after recent losses elsewhere, according to Rooters.

The southern region near the border with Jordan and Israel is one of the areas where Death Eaters have inflicted significant defeats on Assad in the last three months, notably by capturing the Nasib border crossing with Jordan on April 1.

The "Southern Front", an alliance of rebel groups, has been coordinating operations against Assad from a joint command center in Jordan. It includes groups that have received some support from foreign states that want to see Assad gone, including Gulf Arab governments.

Islamic State blows up Syria gas pipeline serving capital: activists
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] ISIS hard boyz blew up a pipeline feeding natural gas from eastern Syria to the suburbs of the capital Damascus early Wednesday morning, an activist group said.
So ISIS has Bugtis working for them...
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British based activist group, said ISIS blew up the pipeline near the T-4 military airport in the east of central Homs province shortly after midnight.

"This pipeline was used to carry gas into the suburbs of Damascus and Homs to generate electricity and provide heating in individual homes," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

ISIS has seized a number of oil and gas fields in Homs province, most recently during its offensive on the ancient city of Palmyra.

These fields were key to Syria's embattled regime, which relied on them for power generation in its dwindling areas of control.

"Any hit to the regime's gas supply is important, because its resources are very low," Abdel Rahman told AFP.
If we had any kind of CIA at all it would become trickier yet...
While ISIS has made use of oil fields it has captured to generate income, processing natural gas is much trickier, according to Yezid Sayigh, an analyst at the Carnegie Middle East Centre in Beirut.

Blowing up gas pipelines demonstrates that "the name of its game for now is denial of key resources to the regime," Sayigh wrote recently.

Government forces lost Palmyra to ISIS on May 21, and ceded additional territory southwest of the city in the following days.
