[Hurriyet Daily News] China is considering further changes to its family planning laws, Premier Li Keqiang said on March 15, after a relaxation in the "one child policy" failed to see significantly more babies being born.
The ruling Communist Party imposed strict rules in the late 1970s to limit population growth, with most urban couples restricted to a single offspring. Hard to be a mighty world power when your population's dropping like a rock. Even changing the law isn't going to result in a great many more Heathen Chinee. They have birth control, too, and birth control countries are one or two child countries.
The often brutally enforced policy has been hugely controversial, but officials say it has been a key factor in China's rising prosperity. Now, though, it is leading to demographic problems including a rapidly ageing population and a shrinking labor force.
A relaxation in the regulations in late 2013, allowing couples to have two offspring if at least one parent was an only child, failed to see a marked increase in births.

In 1958, Chairman Mao determined that four creatures were unhygienic and needed to be eradicated. Three, flies, rats and mosquitos, are no brainers. The fourth, however, sparrows, needs an explanation. China had a long, sad history of famine by the early 1950s. It has been reported that prior to 1911, more than 1500 famines had been documented in China, and even after World War II, hunger was a constant problem for most of the populace.
Sparrows, which were often observed eating the seeds of grains that would otherwise feed people, were perceived as a threat – and a pest. According to unverified reports, the PRC had data that “each sparrow ate some 4.5 kilos – nearly ten pounds – of grain annually.” While efforts at exterminating the first three met with limited success, the campaign against sparrows more than achieved its goal. Perhaps this was because the entire nation was enlisted to help.
Using simple methods, such as banging pots and pans and shouting whenever the birds tried to land, the sparrow in China nearly went extinct.
It turns out that, unbeknownst to the bangers, shouters, beaters, knockers and shooters, sparrows are a natural predator of many insects that otherwise feast on grain crops. Among the insects preyed upon by these sparrows were locusts, which enjoyed swarming the country in a devastating plague over the next year as a result of the campaign. Combined with poor policies and drought, the resulting plague left China with insufficient food to feed its hungry populace.
The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, a powerful U.S. Senate investigative committee, has officially initiated a probe into Obama's connections with OneVoice Movement, a Washington-based group whose subsidiary, Victory 15, is actively involved in efforts to oust Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Obama didn't want to meet with Netanyahu three weeks before the Israeli elections because he didn't want to influence the Israeli elections--but he doesn't mind bankrolling (with American taxpayer's dollars) a group to swing the election away from Netanyahu? So Obama was a truth bender--again? Have at it Senate. So far the Prez is the teflon don.
[USATODAY] Despite ferocious political blowback, U.S. Sen. John Maverick McCain ... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution... is defending his decision to join 46 of his fellow Republican senators in writing a letter to Iran's leaders regarding their ongoing nuclear talks with President B.O.'s administration.
The now-notorious letter organized by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., bluntly told the Iranian negotiators that the GOP senators would "consider any agreement regarding your nuclear-weapons program that is not approved by the Congress as nothing more than an executive agreement between President B.O. and Ayatollah Khamenei" that easily could be undone by a future president or Congress.

McCain did something right for a change. Give him credit
[New York Post] It's the vast left-wing conspiracy.
Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett leaked to the press details of Hillary Clinton's use of a private e-mail address during her time as secretary of state, sources tell me. But she did so through people outside the administration, so the story couldn't be traced to her or the White House.
In addition, at Jarrett's behest, the State Department was ordered to launch a series of investigations into Hillary's conduct at Foggy Bottom, including the use of her expense account, the disbursement of funds, her contact with foreign leaders and her possible collusion with the Clinton Foundation.
Six separate probes into Hillary's performance have been Âgoing on at the State Department. I'm told that the e-mail scandal was timed to come out just as Hillary was on the verge of formally announcing that she was running for president -- and that there's more to come.
Members of Bill Clinton's camp say the former president suspects the White House is the source of the leak and is furious.

Consider my Rantburg friends what happens when the Obama administration ends. Can you see. ValJar and Champ/the Wookie leaving quietly after having held the reins of power this long and used it in so many corrupt ways? I now expect blanket pardons for Holder et al, but can they let go and move to NYC and a life of fading public speaking tours? Do they do Clintonian Redux and rebrand Moochelle as the next twofer candidate? The mind reels.....

Has Michelle even shown intrest in running for office?
I image the Obama's will do everything they can to get their chosen person into the presidency as protection against investigations. I belieave the CLintons' are not trusted to protect Obama and it is probably thought they'd toss Obama under the bus to save themselves, thus they must be destroyed before they can gain traction.
