[DNAINFO] A religious robber asked a Jamaica cellphone store worker not to report a holdup because they were both Moslem and held up his shirt to reveal the word "Islam" tattooed on his chest, police said.
According to Sherlocks, the suspect stole nearly $800 from from 111 Wireless and More last December and even shook the victim's hand before leaving during the bizarre incident.
The suspect walked into the store on Merrick Boulevard, near 111th Avenue, on Dec. 4 at 6:35 p.m. saying that he wanted to pay his phone bill, officials said.
But shortly after that, sources said, he whipped out a small black revolver and said: "No one needs to get hurt. Just give me the money," according to sources.
The clerk forked over $780, police said, but the man demanded more cash and iPhones, sources said.
When the clerk said that the store didn't have any iPhones, the man said: "We are both Moslem. We are supposed to support each other," according to sources.
"Please don't call the police and report me," he allegedly said.
The suspect then lifted his shirt showing his chest with the word "Islam" tattooed on it, police said.
It was not immediately clear what language the word was written in and whether the clerk was indeed a Moslem.
The suspect then shook hands with the clerk, sources said.
But before fleeing westbound on 111th Avenue, the robber warned the clerk, "Please don't report me. I'm going to come back again," the sources said.
A store manager said Tuesday that the clerk quit shortly after the incident, because he didn't feel safe working there.

[HUFFINGTONPOST] Three members of a Muslim family shot to death Tuesday in their home near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus may have been killed over a parking dispute.
The suspect, 46-year-old Craig Stephen Hicks, surrendered and was arrested on charges of first-degree murder. He is accused of killing Deah Barakat, 23, Barakat's wife, Yusor Abu-Salha, 21, and Yusor's sister, Razan Abu-Salha, 19.
Police responded to reports of gunshots at about 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, when they found the victims' bodies. The shooting happened in a neighborhood that is mostly rental apartments where students live, and crime there is low, according to the News and Observer.
That night, frantic parents waited outside Finley Forest Condominiums, where police were investigating the triple homicide, the Daily Tarheel reports. One mother broke down in tears after she inquired about her daughter and son-in-law, while a father screamed, "It's been hours! Just tell me if he's alive!"

now people are calling it a "hate crime"
but do we actually know whether this was a crime where the victims just happened to be muslim
or whether the murderer targetted them because they were muslims
that is the difference between a hate crime and an ordinary crime

They were probably claiming it was waycist to insist they park their car away from someone else's parking spot.
Whilst not worthy of being killed, it might explain things, as the leftist suffers a collapse in his faith (mugged by reality).
[IsraelTimes] Demand focuses on those who don't identify with Paleostinians; petition 'totally unacceptable,' vice chancellor says
The student representative council at the Durban University of Technology in South Africa urged the institution's management to expel its Jewish students, especially those who don't support the Paleostinian cause, the Daily News newspaper reported Wednesday.
The demand was also extended to any students sponsored by the Israeli government.
"We had a meeting and analyzed international politics," the student body's secretary, Mqondisi Duma, was quoted in the report as saying.
"We took the decision that Jewish students, especially those who do not support the Paleostinian struggle, should deregister."
Durban University of Technology vice chancellor Ahmed Bawa called the suggestion to kick out Jewish students "totally unacceptable."

#2 I'll bet this will be counted as another warmest year on record.
This is serious stuff, gorb. Last year was 0.02 C warmer than the previous. In a hundred years, that makes 2C which would make the current local temp -10C rather than -12C. In 10,000 years, the oceans will be boiling. Unless the next Ice Age comes along, in which case we'll all be boned.
Just checking in on the status of the War on Ebola.
[AnNahar] The U.S. military plans to pull out most troops from West Africa that were deployed to help stem the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus, the Pentagon said Tuesday, ending a five-month mission.
Whew! Guess we're not all going to die after all...of Ebola, anyway. Now it's measles, mumps, and whooping cough, thanks to the enclaves of upper middle class anti-vaxxers.
A force that at one point reached 2,800 has been scaled back to about 1,300 troops and "nearly all will return by April 30," Pentagon front man Rear Admiral John Kirby said in a statement.
The announcement came as the epidemic has begun to recede.
The Health Department has taken action after a local supermarketâs frozen foods section featured an unusual item.
Inspectors from the LA County Health Department visited the Metro Supermarket in Temple City on Tuesday, after being informed that the market was selling raccoons as food. As long as it's raised in a humanitarian cage, California should be ok
Employees at the market declined to appear on camera, but did show entire raccoons, frozen, bagged, and selling for $9.99 per pound. The employees say raccoon is considered a delicacy in China.
Customer Christina Dow was at the market, and upon seeing the frozen raccoons, filmed the scene on her cell phone. She shared the video on social media.
âThe way itâs packaged in the store, itâs so real, and itâs so fresh, and you donât see chickens with their feathers and blood all over them, and their expression, with their tongue hanging out,â Dow said.
Dow also went on to contact the LA County Health Department, who says that selling raccoons as food may indeed be perfectly legal, depending on the origins of the meat.
The market has ceased selling raccoons, since the departmentâs visit, until it and be reviewed and officially approved.
CBS2 contacted a number of local agencies, including the LA County District Attorneyâs office. However, none of them were immediately able to say whether selling raccoons as food was legal or not.
Store employees say theyâve been selling raccoons for years, and never experienced any issues until now.
Hurrah for the social justice warriors, forcing a stop to an apparently perfectly legal practice that harms no one.
Clearly this article hit a nerve, as Jumpin Gehosafat1830 submitted it as well. :-)

GM seriously, one if our old schooled maintenance guys has a freezer near full of them "toes on". Part of it us he hates to hunt and leave waste, the second is ther's a small niche market. He gives away into this market but accrues good will.
It's like squirrel only ever so much more so and is very dependent on local conditions.

Just to be a downer, raccoons are smart, evil and strong bastards. Cornered they are fearless, they can cli,b like a hawk and slash like a bobcat. They make poor but exciting pets, they are one human acts, hate children and can lay waste to a kitchen in nothing flat, they can open peanut butter jars, eat all your damn marshmallows and teach you Goldie hiw to play checkers while stealing his treat money.

Just 24 hours after rebels claimed to have taken a key position blocking a highway to Debaltsevo, a Ukrainian counterattack opened the "lid" on the encirclement, according to Russian and English language sources.
Ukrainian military journalist Dmitri Tymchuk said that a Ukrainian force supported by artillery fire managed to drive out entrenched rebel forces at Logvinova, forcing them back towards Nizhnie Lozove and Novogrigorevka, both on the east side of the Debaltsevo salient.
Ukrainian soldier Semen Semenchenko said that a small armor group and a platoon of Ukrainian National Guard troops forced a break in the rebel lines sufficient to permit a relief column into Debaltsevo.
Tymchuk said that rebel forces are close enough to fire on vehicles traveling along Highway M04.
Tymchuk also said that fresh rebel forces are being routed through Krasnii Luch, which include six tanks, 11 tented trucks and four APCs. Krasnii Luch and the surrounding area, due to its strategic crossroads system, is being used by the rebels as a marshaling point for troops and logistics for use in the northern zones of Lugansk and Donetsk.
Rebel forces have begun an assault on the village of Chernukhin, south of Debaltsevio, after failing to take the town over the past week with heavy losses on both sides.
Shelling in Donetsk
Rebel media said that Ukrainian artillery hit several sectors of the city including near the village Vesyoloye, with artillery fire coming from Lastochkino and Avdeyevka; near the village of Spartak, with multiple rocket launchers and artillery from the villages Opytnoye and Lastochkino; and, in the districts of Kirovsky and Textilschik, using rocket artillery and tube artillery fire from Lastochkino and Novomikhaylovka.
Rebel media also said that their troops at the Donetsk airport were hit six times with Ukrainian artillery from Avdeyevka, Lastochkino, Opytnoye, and Tonenkoye.

The top NATO commander, Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove, last week warned that any action the U.S. or other Western nations take "could trigger a more strident reaction from Russia," even while acknowledging that Russia continues to supply separatists on the border with heavy, state-of-the-art weapons, air defenses and fighters, according to an article by The Associated Press. Sending A10's in is just dumb. Russians have truckloads of manpads that can kill this aircraft, while ISIS is limited in capability. Bad call, unless they are trying to show the aircrafts limitations...

A-10 has its role, but this is a bit outside of it. Need Air Superiority/Supremacy first, or at least the ability to SEAD and sanitize the flight corridors
#6
An A-10 is not nearly as easy to engage as many think. It'll likely be armed with a couple of Sidewinders and no fighter pilot in his right mind is going to try a gun attack against a far more maneuverable aircraft, down in the grass, that is armed with a gun that outranges his own by a large margin.
#8
I am curious tho, could an A-10 be mated with the catapults of the New Jersey class BBs? Combining 16" guns with 4 cat launched A-10s is a no brainer. An updated Wampanoag class frigate would supply the necessary escort.
#9
A couple of A-10s flying low-level gun runs need top cover by interceptors. They also need AWACS or Wild Weasel support to keep an eye on AA missile threats. The A-10 has some pretty good flare packages to confuse heat-seeking missiles.
To some extent, you put them in harms way to draw fire - and then make sure that anyone who takes a shot learns the steep price they pay for that action.
A murder accused allegedly shot at and injured the complainant after the police changed the sections of the case and termed it an accident.
Younis shot at Muhammad Waqas, a resident of Chowk Haji Sharif, Rangeelpur, when he was standing outside his house on Monday night. Waqas suffered three bullet injuries and was shifted to the Nishtar Hospital where doctors declared his condition out of danger.
Shah Shams police SHO Saeed Gujjar said the victim party had not submitted application to the police for registration of a case so far.
He said the victim was complaining that injustice had been done to his family in the past but he (Gujjar) could not say anything as he was not the SHO when the case begun.
Waqas' brother Muhammad Qasim was killed on Feb 9, 2014 and a case (FIR No108/14) under section 302/34 was lodged with the Shah Shams police against Muhammad Younis and Muhammad Nadeem.
According to the FIR, Younis killed Qasim for stopping him from teasing women working in field. The complainant alleged that Nadeem, who was a security guard at a rice factory, gave his repeater gun to Younis who shot dead his brother.
On April 10, 2014, Additional District and Sessions Judge Humairatul Zahra granted post-arrest bail to Younis. The counsel said the petitioner was 11 years old and being minor was entitled to bail under the provisions of Juvenile Justice System Ordinance 2000. During the investigation, offence under section 302 of PPC had been deleted as the investigation officer found that at the most offence under section 322/109 PPC was made out.
In her decision, the judge stated that although ipse dixit of the police was not binding upon the court, in the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case the same couldn't be brushed aside. 'Moreover, it is yet to be determined at the trial as to whether the petitioner has intentionally committed the murder of the deceased or not. All these facts make it a case of further probe and inquiry,' the court stated.

TLAMs are already used for land attack missions against static targets. By converting TLAMs into missiles capable of penetrating thickly-armored vessels at sea, the Navy plugs a serious gap in its current weapons capabilities. According to USNI News, TLAMs that have been converted into anti-ship missiles that could be used aboard the Navy's newer guided-missile destroyers, which cannot currently use the service's antiquated RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missile.
The new converted TLAMs would have a range of almost 1,000 nautical miles, allowing the US to maintain a considerable edge over rival naval powers. One of China's most threatening new military advancements is its development of its own advanced anti-ship cruise missiles. However, these missiles would only have half the range of a converted TLAM.

Time marches on; I remember when the Harpoon was top shelf stuff; my aircrews were wetting themselves if they even got a chance to do a captive carry mission with one, much less shoot one.....

Likely not, since they'd be circa Pappy era and likely unstable.
Sez he who spends election season trying to chew the bars off'n his cage... :p
Likely they'll be 'seconds': old but not obsolete, 'drops' that are sound but don't make the 'A' team, etc.
I suspect many of them will have been TLAM-Ns in another life.
