Somalia's Shebab Assassinate ex-Lawmaker, Wound Another
[AnNahar] Somalia's Shabaab murderous Moslems said they had assassinated a former politician and his bodyguard and maimed another MP in a drive-by shooting in Mogadishu on Thursday to show the government they remained a threat.

Gunmen in a moving car opened fire as the politician drove through the center of the city, before racing off, witnesses said. MP Mustafa Mayow was maimed in the attack.

"The government say they have eradicated the Shabaab from Mogadishu, but this is to show that we are here and active," Shabaab front man Abdiaziz Abu Musab told Agence La Belle France Presse.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels are fighting to overthrow the country's internationally-backed government.

At least five politicians have been killed in Mogadishu this year. The forces of Evil say they are targeting MPs as they allowed the deployment of foreign troops on Somali soil.

Recent Shabaab attacks in Somalia have targeted key government and security sites in an apparent bid to discredit claims by the authorities and African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
troops that they are winning the war.

On Wednesday a Shabaab jacket wallah killed four security guards and bystanders when they rammed an exploding car into a United Nations

convoy.

The Shabaab have also stepped up operations in neighboring Kenya, and on Tuesday massacred 36 non-Moslem quarry workers in a Kenyan border town.

Kenya Warplane Crashes in Somalia, Islamists Claim Shot Down
[AnNahar] A Kenya military plane crashed Thursday in war-torn southern Somalia, the army said, blaming "technical problems", while the Shabaab fighters boasted they had shot it down.

Kenyan troops entered southern Somalia three years ago to fight the al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels, later joining an African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
force.

They have carried out recent heavy air strikes against Shabaab bases in southern Somalia after the gunnies carried out a string of attacks inside Kenya including two recent massacres of over 60 people.

The Kenyan warplane "while returning from a combat mission in Jamaame, southern Somalia, developed technical problems and crashed in the general area of Kismayo," Kenyan army front man Colonel David Obonyo said in a statement.

But after the Kenyan military statement, Shabaab front man Abdiaziz Abu Musab told Agence La Belle France-Presse his fighters had shot the plane down.

"We have destroyed the fighter jet and the body of the pilot," Musab said.

It was not possible to independently verify the reports.

The Shabaab are fighting to overthrow the country's internationally-backed government.

After they executed 36 non-Moslem quarry workers in a Kenyan border town on Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed to "intensify the war on terrorism", calling the Islamists "deranged animals" and blaming them for the death of more than 800 Kenyans.

The Shabaab in turn warned they would be "uncompromising, relentless and ruthless" in further attacks.

Egypt to Try 31 People over 2013 Murders of Shiites
[AnNahar] Thirty-one defendants are to go on trial in Egypt later this month on charges related to the 2013 killings of four Shiites outside Cairo, a court statement said on Thursday.

The four, who included a holy man, were killed on June 23 last year when a hostile mob attacked a house where they had gathered in the village of Abu Mussalam in Giza province.

The charges include the murders of the four men, the attempted murders of 13 others, vandalism and arson. The trial is due to open on December 21.

The killings came the month before the army ousted elected Islamist president Mohammed Morsi and followed weeks of toxic anti-Shiite rhetoric in the Egyptian media and from Sunni Islamist leaders.

Morsi's office condemned the killings.

Shiite Moslems make up just one percent of Egypt's population which is primarily Sunni Moslem.

Sunnis have traditionally opposed Shiism, which teaches that many of the Prophet Mohammed's companions revered by Sunnis were corrupt and usurped power from his rightful successor and cousin, Ali.

Shiites are also frequently accused of being under the influence of Shiite-majority Iran.

Boko Haram Target French-Owned Cement Works Again in Twin Attack
[AnNahar] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
bandidos gunnies in Nigeria on Thursday stormed a French-owned cement works for the second time in as many months, as they attacked two towns in northeast of the country.

The Islamists first struck in Bajoga, 60 kilometers (40 miles) from Gombe city, in a convoy of 20 vehicles before being pushed to Ashaka, where the plant owned by French group Lafarge is located.

Both raids came after an attack Monday on the Yobe state capital, Damaturu, to the north, which left more than 150 people dead including 38 police and six soldiers.

The latest raids suggested that Boko Haram fighters based in the Buni Yadi area of Yobe state may have been looking to replenish supplies.

In Bajoga, fighters raided banks and set fire to a cop shoppe, government buildings and political party offices. In Ashaka, they stole pick-up trucks and medical supplies.

"‎The gunnies kept shouting 'Allahu Akbar' (God is greater) and firing guns haphazardly. They went into the cement factory and took away some vehicles," said Ashaka resident Samaila Adnan.

"They didn't touch anyone."

A staff member at the cement works, who asked not to be identified, confirmed Adnan's account and said the factory was evacuated before the attack.

"Our fear was confirmed. They went into the factory and headed to the administrative building where company vehicles were parked," he said.

"They took away several Hilux (four-wheel drive) vans. They also went to the factory clinic and took away an ambulance along with drugs. They didn't harm anybody."

The same plant was attacked on November 4, when pick-up trucks and large quantities of industrial dynamite used in mining were also taken.

The staff member said the explosives had been moved since the last raid and although the bandidos gunnies looked for more, they were unable to find any.

The Lafarge plant, set up in 1974, is the largest cement works in northern Nigeria. It employs about 500 people, including an unspecified number of expatriates.

The fighters were pursued by the military for five kilometers, from Bajoga to Ashaka, after three hours of fighting, which also included an air force jet that bombarded bully boy positions.

But Adnan said that after initial skirmishes in the town, the soldiers withdrew.

Gombe state has not been as badly hit by Boko Haram violence as Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states but there have still been a number of attacks blamed on Boko Haram.

On October 31, at least eight people were killed in a triple kaboom at a bus station in Gombe city, while in June a female jacket wallah blew herself up at a barracks in the state capital.

That attack was the first by a female bomber in Nigeria and marked the first of a series of attacks by women and maidens of tender years across the wider north.

There have been two double suicide kabooms in the Borno state capital Maiduguri in the last two weeks, while last Friday at least 120 were killed in a bomb and gun attack in Kano city.

Thursday's attacks fit a pattern of almost daily violence by the Islamists, who have taken over more than two dozen towns in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa in recent months.

The bully boys' tactics have evolved from hit-and-run strikes and suicide kabooms to holding territory and conducting "logistical" raids for food, money and other supplies.

Boko Haram has frequently targeted banks for funds to buy weapons, while burning down cop shoppes, government and political party buildings is a sign of their opposition to secular rule.

Arabia
UAE Arrests Suspect in U.S. Teacher Death, Foiled Bombing
[AnNahar] An Emirati woman has been tossed in the clink
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
over the fatal stabbing of an American teacher and a foiled plot to bomb the home of another U.S. citizen, UAE authorities said Thursday.

Interior Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed said the woman, believed to be the veiled suspect who killed the American woman Monday in a shopping center toilet, had also attempted to plant a makeshift bomb in front of the home of an American doctor in Abu Dhabi.

The suspect "is in the hands of the police," the minister said.

Police said the suspect was a 38-year-old Emirati, who they have dubbed "The Reem Island Ghost" after the location of the shopping center where Monday's attack took place.

"We are witnessing an unprecedented, heinous crime in the UAE," Saif said, threatening "deterrent punishment against whoever attempts to tamper with UAE security."

The United Arab Emirates hosts millions of foreigners and has remained largely unscathed as unrest swept other Arab countries.

In CCTV footage released on Wednesday, the assailant is seen entering the shopping mall shortly after 1:00 pm and then rushing from the restroom about 90 minutes later, as panicked shoppers scrambled.

The footage was accompanied by pictures of a bloodied kitchen knife and trails of blood on the floor of the restroom.

Complete footage released by the ministry on Thursday showed the fully covered woman entering a building in Abu Dhabi, pulling a wheeled luggage case, where she was allegedly hiding a bomb.

The bomb was planted at the door of one of the apartments in the building.

The footage then shows a raid on a house where the woman, dressed in pajamas, was with a man, whom the police handcuffed.

The ministry did not give details on the fate of the man or say if he had a role in the attacks.

It showed several knives and bomb-making materials, as well as traces of blood on the steering wheel of the suspect's car.

Police said Wednesday that the divorced American woman, who worked at an Abu Dhabi kindergarten, was stabbed by a person wearing a black robe, black gloves and a niqab -- a Moslem veil that conceals the face except for the eyes.

They initially said the woman was 37 years old but on Thursday said she was 47.

The victim's 11-year-old twins were taken into police care until their father arrived from abroad.

The stabbing took place on the same day as a recording was released attributed to Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, the front man of the krazed killer Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, that urged Moslems to attack Westerners by any means, even if only to "spit on their faces."

The UAE in September joined the U.S.-led coalition carrying out air strikes against IS in Iraq and Syria.

Bangladesh
Northeast militants flee Bangla crackdown
Bangladesh's government has launched a massive drive against rebels from the Northeast, based in the interior of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and a rapid action battalion launched the operation on November 22. As a result, National Liberation Front of Tripura militants have fled the jungles of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This came to light when BSF jawans this morning arrested NLFT commander Amarjeet Debbarma.

High-level sources said they had received information from sources from across the border that in the past 12 days, six hideouts of NLFT, HNLC and NDFB rebels had been destroyed. At least seven suspected NLFT rebels and allegedly one each of HNLC and NDFB militants have been arrested.

A senior Special Branch official SAID that the most successful operation had been carried out in the Mandiracherra hideout of Tripura's NLFT on the border areas of Khagracherri and Bandarban districts on November 27 by a joint team of RAB and BGB.

Initially, the rebels opened fire on the Bangladesh security forces. The official said, "The Bangladesh security forces retaliated and left a number of NLFT militants dead on the spot, though the number of slain militants has not been ascertained so far. The rest of the militants fled towards Bandarban district and security forces recovered a large quantity of ammunition."

Sources said after the operations started on November 22, senior NLFT commander Karna Debbarma was arrested the next morning. Forty other NLFT rebels had been living in rented houses in the Dighinala area and all of them fled after the security operation began.

The official said, "According to our report, Karna Debbarma guided the BGB and RAB jawans to five other hideouts of the NLFT at Shilacherri, Mandiracherra, Taglakandai and Naraicherra camps. Senior NLFT commander Rathamoni Debbarma was forced to flee with lieutenants and took shelter in the Kasalong camp. However, this camp, too, was dismantled by Bangladeshi security forces. The fate of Rathamoni and his followers is still not known."

Security forces have also been monitoring communication among NLFT militants on wireless. They stumbled upon the voice of senior NLFT commander Atharbabu Halam, one of the assassins of former Speaker Bimal Sinha on March 31, 1998. In the intercepted message, Atharbabu said he was planning to cross over to Myanmar and set up a new base.

Briton Denies Plot to Attack Soldiers, 7 Others Arrested

in unconnected raids by anti-terrorism police.

The arrests are part of a police crackdown on suspected terrorist activity after authorities raised Britannia's terror threat level to "severe" in August and last week introduced new anti-terror legislation.

At the Old Bailey court in London, Brusthom Ziamani, 29, pleaded not guilty to preparing to commit an act of terrorism on or before August 20 this year.

The southeast London resident had allegedly researched the locations of military bases and written a letter saying he would commit a terrorist act. A trial date was set for February 9.

Earlier on Thursday, counter-terror police arrested two men in southeast London and five men in south Wales in separate raids.

Thursday's arrests follow five others since Sunday on suspicion of terror offenses, the Metropolitan Police said.

Britannia's parliament is currently debating new anti-terrorism legislation proposed by Prime Minister David Cameron

's coalition government.

The draft laws would give the authorities the power to relocate people identified as Moslem radicals, force universities to bar murderous Moslem preachers and toughen laws against would-be jihadists planning to leave for Iraq and Syria as well as those returning.

Rights groups and Islamic organizations say the measures are rushed, infringe civil liberties and could alienate Britannia's 2.8 million-strong Moslem community.
Ynet adds:

s. A 33-year-old man was arrested in London on suspicion of involvement in terrorism and a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pass fraudulent documents.

Police say the two London arrests are linked to the earlier arrests of five other terror suspects still being questioned.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Chechen solon blames west for terror attack

By Chris Covert
Rantbrug.com

The speaker of the Chechen parliament said Thursday the failed terror attack in Grozny early Thursday morning was the work of NATO, according to a news report which appeared in the Russian news agency Itar-Tass.

Abdurakhmanov Dukuvakha said in a late night emergency meeting of the Chechen parliament that "Western intelligence agencies" were responsible for an attack that "cannot work and will not work!"

It appears, according to all Russian language press reports, that the militants who died Thursday morning were caught with their pants down: they did not expect to encounter a police checkpoint on their drive into Grozny.

According to official and unofficial reports, a team of six militants wearing police uniforms, traveling aboard three vehicles were stopped at a police checkpoint near downtown Grozny at around 0100 hrs. When discovered, the militants opened fire, killing three police. The militants then fled to the Press House. According to Russian media, the Press House houses all "federal news agencies" in the region.

A separate group of militants took over a school identified as No. 20. According to rg.ru press outlet, the school serves 790 students and 39 teachers. When the takeover was discovered, Russian security forces cordoned off the area to 500 meters, which still remains 24 hours later. The fighting totally destroyed the building. The students were notified via text messages and other means that classes had been cancelled. A press summary said four militants were killed at the school by Russian and local security forces.

The counterattack by Russian military and security forces against the militants holed up in the Press House took place overnight and was very intense, according to press accounts and as seen in social media video. Videos from residents showed Russian police and Russian Army personnel in BTR armored personnel carriers moving to an unknown location.

One video showed heavy gunfire coming from what is presumed to be either anti-materiel rifles positioned atop other buildings, or helicopters, and from the ground fire from small arms, fire so intense that much of the building was destroyed.

According to Itar-Tass a total of 17 died, including seven police, eight militants and four others, presumably civilians as yet unidentified. According to the report, local hospitals counted the wounded at 21 in varying degrees of severity. A total of 28 police officers were wounded in the fighting as well.

According to Russian language press accounts, security forces recovered 24 IEDs and an undisclosed number of grenades and rifles inside the Press Center and at the school. Reports were the militants were planning a campaign in the city using those devices.

Western press agencies noted that the attack was timed to coincide with Russian Federation president Vladimir Putin's nationwide address. According to rg.ru, however, the militants planned attacks leading up the the Russian Constitution Day, December 12th.

Rg.ru also said that, according to local intelligence agencies, the information released that night about an invasion by "hundreds of militants" was false. The group was identified as belonging to the Caucasus Emirate.

A Czech academic identified as Nadir Salt Elsunkayev said that a local group identified as Al Shishani Islamic Caliphate had previously threatened to attack Chechnya. An indication is that this attack may have a connection to the Islamic State in the Levant, the large terrorist army now operating in western Iraq and northern Syria.

#1  Chechens arent exporting enough of the terrorists so I guess they are attacking local targets once again. The whole "NATO did it" was Putin pulling the puppet strings.

No sympathy for either side - the Chechen terrs are absolutely the worst, glad they got killed. ANd this whole anti-west crap sounds a lot like Putin using the typical tin-pot dictator game to generate an external enemy before people realize just how much a fascist shitbag he is.

Gun Battle Breaks Out In Chechen Capital, 19 Dead
[IsraelTimes] A shootout broke out early Thursday in the capital of Russia?s North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, leaving at least three traffic coppers and six gunnies dead, authorities said.

The violence erupted hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
was to make his annual state of the nation address in Moscow.

Security officials said gunnies traveling in three cars entered the republic?s capital, Grozny at 1 a.m. local time, killing three traffic police at a checkpoint. The Moscow-based National Anti-Terrorist Committee, a federal agency, said the gunnies then occupied a multi-story Press House in central Grozny which was later destroyed by fire, killing six gunnies.

The Anti-Terrorist Committee said more gunnies had been found in a city school and an operation was underway to ?liquidate? them. No students or teachers in the school when it was seized by the Death Eaters, RIA Novosti quoted vice principal Islam Dzhabrailov as saying.

The mood was tense in Grozny on Thursday with heavy-caliber gunfire heard in the background and the area about the Press House and the school building cordoned off.

Although unrest is common across the North Caucasus, forceful security measures adopted by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov have spared Grozny significant violence for several years. That has allowed Putin to claim success in subduing an Islamic insurgency in Chechnya after years of war.

Dmitry Trenin, who heads the Carnegie Moscow Center, wrote in a Twitter post that ?the night attack in Grozny looks senseless, except as an attempt to embarrass Putin hours before his annual address to parliament.? Putin already was under pressure to reassure Russians as fears grow over soaring inflation and a plummeting ruble.

An News Agency that Dare Not be Named news hound saw the building ? a publishing house ? in flames and heard the sound of gunfire before dawn, several hours after the unrest erupted. The AP news hound also saw the body of someone in civilian clothing in the street near the publishing house as fighting continued, but it was not clear how and when the person had been killed.

The Anti-Terrorist Committee announced that it had imposed a counterterrorism regime on the center of Grozny. This officially allows heightened security measures to be enforced, and typically indicates the imminent use of heavy force.

Life News, a news outlet believed to have links to Russian security services, cited law enforcement officials as saying about 15 people seized three cars late Wednesday in the village of Shalazhi and drove to Grozny, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) away.

Kadyrov said on his Instagram account, which he uses to issue public statements, that the traffic coppers were rubbed out as they attempted to stop the cars carrying the gunnies.

Kadyrov said the situation was calm and that all essential public services were operating, but he urged Grozny residents to be cautious.

?I ask residents in areas where (security) operations are being carried out to abide by safety measures, and not to go out onto the streets without cause or to go near their windows,? he wrote. ?All the talk about the city being under the control of the military is absolutely false.?

In a message posted several hours later, Kadyrov said that six gunnies were killed in the standoff at the publishing house.

?Not one bandit managed to get out. I directly ran the operation myself,? he wrote.

Kadyrov posted a picture showing the lower half of an apparently dead gunman lying beside a rifle, but it was not immediately clear if it showed one of the presumed attackers.

The Kavkaz Center website, a mouthpiece for Islamic Death Eater groups operating in Russia?s North Caucasus, carried a link to a video message by an individual claiming responsibility for the attacks. The man in the video claimed to be operating under orders from Chechen Islamist leader Aslan Byutukayev, known to his followers as Emir Khamzat.

The video could not immediately be verified.

A few years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Chechnya was plunged into a full-scale war when separatist rebels pursued independence for the republic. The violence was largely confined to that small republic, but rebels ventured into other parts of Russia.

A fragile peace settlement was reached with Moscow until 1999, when an insurgency movement increasingly inspired by radical Islamist ideas reignited the conflict. A military crackdown succeeded by years of aggressive rule by Kadyrov has quietened the region, pushing unrest to neighboring provinces.

Kadyrov has been widely denounced for human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
abuses, including allegations of killing opponents. He has also imposed some Islamic restrictions on the region, including mandatory public headscarves for women.

Police File Terror Charges against Canadian Teen

The boy, who cannot be named under laws protecting minors, is only the second person in the country ever to face such charges, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said late Wednesday.

He is accused of having stolen Can$2,200 (US$1,933) at knife-point from a grocer "for the benefit of, or at the direction of, a terrorist group."

"He was allegedly planning to leave Canada to engage in terrorist activity abroad," the RCMP added.

Last month, La Presse reported that the boy had befriended the suspect in the first jihadist attack on Canadian soil -- the hit-and-run killing of a soldier in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Citing unnamed sources, the Montreal daily said the teenager had contacted the suspected jihadist on Facebook days prior to the attack.

The teen's father reportedly feared he had become radicalized and alerted police, who tossed in the slammer

him on October 17 before he could leave the country.

The first person convicted in Canada of seeking to join an overseas terrorist group was Mohammed Hersi, 28.

He was sentenced in July to 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Hersi planned to join the Shabaab, a Somali Islamist militia that has grabbed credit for several attacks, including a commando assault on Nairobi's Westgate shopping mall last year.

Lawfare: Israeli NGO Files Action against U.S. Presbyterian Church over Hizbullah Ties
[AnNahar] A civil rights organization based in Israel has filed a legal complaint against the U.S. Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), alleging violations of the U.S. tax code for unlawful political lobbying and contact with Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
, The Jerusalem Post reported on Thursday.

Shurat Hadin, the Tel Aviv-based organization, publicized the submission of its 38-page complaint with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday, the daily said.

?It is high time the IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
took a long look at the Presbyterian Church and investigated its meeting with the designated- terrorist organization Hizbullah, its lobbying activities, and its anti-Israel divestment policies,? said Shurat Hadin front man attorney Robert Tolchin.

?The PCUSA is obsessed with attacking the Jewish state and has moved far from the activities which it presented to the IRS to secure its tax-free status in the United States.?

According to The Jerusalem Post, Shurat Hadin said it provided the IRS with ?documentary and video evidence? showing PCUSA delegates meeting with Hizbullah and publishing anti-Semitic materials.

The organization also accused the delegates of ?enacting a racist policy to divest from American companies doing business with Israel, lobbying the U.S. Congress, and distributing political advocacy materials in violation of its tax-exempt status as a religious organization.?

Gunmen target lawyer defending blasphemy accused
[DAWN] Gunmen shot up the residence of a lawyer defending a university lecturer accused of blasphemy and dropped a letter warning him to withdraw from the case, police said Thursday.

Shahbaz Gormani escaped unhurt after gunnies riding cycle of violences attacked his residence in Multan late Wednesday.

Gormani had been appointed defence lawyer in the case after gunnies rubbed out Rashid Rehman, a defence counsel for Junaid Hafeez in May.

Hafeez, a lecturer at Bahauddin Zakariya University, was accused of allegedly making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Mohammed (PTUI!) in March last year.

Hafeez was known at the university for his liberal views and the blasphemy case was registered after pressure from right-wing student groups.

"Gunmen riding motorbikes fired indiscriminately outside the residence of Gormani and threw a pamphlet... warning him of serious consequences if he continues to pursue the case," senior police official Muhammad Salim told AFP.

"We are investigating the incident," he added.

Another police official Muhammad Akram confirmed the incident.

Gormani told AFP he survived the incident but demanded that the parliament enact laws to protect lawyers representing people accused of blasphemy.

Officials: One Dead, Eight Injured in Pakistan Blast
[AnNahar] A bomb in restive southwest Pakistain on Thursday killed at least one person and maimed eight others, including two schoolchildren, officials said.

The blast on the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of southwestern Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
province, came during the morning rush hour.

"A man riding a bicycle was killed in the kaboom on the Sirki road, as eight others including two schoolchildren aged 10-12 years, were maimed in the incident," Akbar Hussain Durrani, the home secretary of the province, told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"The school van these children were boarding also damaged."

Durrani said that the target of the bomb, which was planted in a car, was not immediately clear but security forces patrol in the area. No security official was hurt in the kaboom.

Another senior police official, Aitezaz Goraya, also confirmed the blast and toll.

Nobody immediately grabbed credit, but Baluch separatist rebels active in the area have recently intensified attacks against security forces, ethnic minorities and outsiders.

Balochistan, Pakistain's largest but least developed and most sparsely populated province, is also racked by Islamist Lion of Islams, banditry and sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shiites.

In October the Human Rights Commission of Pakistain said that more than 300,000 people, including minority Shiites and Hindus, had left Balochistan over the past 10 years due to rising unrest.

Gunmen Target Pakistan Lawyer Defending Blasphemy Accused
Of course. How could it be otherwise?
[AnNahar] Gunmen shot up the residence of a Pak lawyer defending a university lecturer accused of blasphemy and dropped a letter warning him to withdraw from the case, police said Thursday.

Shahbaz Gormani escaped unhurt after gunnies riding cycle of violences attacked his residence in the central city of Multan late Wednesday.

Gormani had been appointed defense lawyer in the case after gunnies rubbed out Rashid Rehman, a defense counsel for Junaid Hafeez in May.

Hafeez, a lecturer at Bahauddin Zakariya University, was accused of making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Mohammed in March last year.

"Gunmen riding motorbikes fired indiscriminately outside the residence of Gormani and threw a pamphlet... warning him of serious consequences if he continues to pursue the case," senior police official Muhammad Salim told Agence La Belle France-Presse.

"We are investigating the incident," he added.

Another police official Muhammad Akram confirmed the incident.

Gormani told AFP he survived the incident but demanded that the parliament enact laws to protect lawyers representing people accused of blasphemy.

Blasphemy is a hugely sensitive issue in the majority Moslem country, with even unproven allegations often prompting mob violence.

Pakistain has never executed anyone for blasphemy and has had a de-facto moratorium on civilian executions since 2008.

But anyone convicted, or even just accused, of insulting Islam, risks a violent and bloody death at the hands of vigilantes.

The coppers, who became suspicious of her as she approached them, spotted the knife and fired a warning shot into the air before restraining and taking her into custody.

Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
Thursday on suspicion of involvement in an attempt to lynch a Jewish man in November.

The municipal court in Lod also issued indictments against Yehiya for further alleged crimes, including rioting and malicious destruction of property.

Police said the suspect had confessed to the charges.

An investigation by the Shin Bet and Central District Police uncovered a video clip showing Yehiya making nationalist statements and calling for an intifada.

The suspect demonstrated alongside other city residents on November 9; some participants threw stones, burned tires, and shoutied "Allah Akhbar".

The protest occurred following the fatal shooting of a Paleostinian in Kafr Kanna. Crowds in Kafr Kanna and East Jerusalem rioted after the incident.

A resident of Netanya was driving by the protest in Tayibe, stopping when he saw that the road was blocked by burning tires. He attempted to drive away, but the suspect and other youths allegedly approached him and once they realized he was Jewish began to shout at him, throw stones, and tossed fireworks into the car.

Another resident of Tayibe rescued the man, saving his life.

Three killed, one injured in southern Thailand
Three people were killed and one wounded as the insurgency continued in Thailand's deep South.

A 52-year-old woman was gunned down early yesterday as she was riding a motorcycle in Narathiwat's Rangae district. The villager had left her home to buy food, when two men following her on another motorbike shot her twice before fleeing. She died immediately. Police put the attack down to insurgency.

Early yesterday morning, police in Pattani's Thung Yang Daeng district learned that a former district official had been fatally shot in the torso and head. The victim had been heading to a teashop when his attackers opened fire.

In the third incident, terrorists insurgents ambushed two village defense volunteers in Yala's Muang district late Wednesday night. They were believed to be heading home. One died immediately, while the other got away with injuries after he jumped off the bike and ran for his life.

Army Arrests Defected Syrian Officer in Riyaq, Arms Smuggler in al-Qaa
[AnNahar ] Four Syrian suspects were tossed in the slammer

Thursday by the army in separate operations in the Bekaa region.

?An army intelligence patrol raided an apartment inhabited by Syrians in the New Riyaq area and arrested three people, including defected officer A. M.,? state-run National News Agency reported.

It identified the other two suspects as Z. M. and M. M.

In a separate operation, army intelligence agents arrested Syrian runaway Amer Saleh Amer in the Bekaa border area of Masharii al-Qaa near Syria's border, NNA said.

?He is wanted on arrest warrants related to smuggling arms across the border and fighting against the Lebanese army,? the agency added.

Dozens of Syrian suspects have been arrested in Leb since the eruption of the Syrian conflict in 2011, but the Lebanese army intensified its crackdown earlier this year following deadly festivities with Lion of Islam groups in the Bekaa border town of Arsal and the northern city of Tripoli

Lebanese authorities have been under intense pressure from the families of the captured men to negotiate their release.

group advance spearheaded by a jacket wallah on a government-held enclave in eastern Syria killed at least 19 government troops and militia, a monitoring group said Thursday.

The overnight bombing struck a government position near Deir Ezzor military airport, a vital supply line for the besieged troops holding out in the eastern city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

In ensuing fighting, the jihadists captured several government positions in the area and lost at least seven of their own fighters, the Britannia-based group said.

They also seized two tanks, an armoured vehicle, artillery and heavy machine guns from the positions they overran, it added.

IS forces control most of Deir Ezzor province, but half of the its capital remains in government hands, along with the military airport to its southeast.

The oil-rich province lies between IS-controlled Raqa province and the Iraqi border and is a key prize for the jihadist group.

murderous Moslems have launched an attack Thursday on the last major Syrian military air base in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour, Syrian activists said.

The Local Coordination Committees activist collective and the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights both reported the fighting for the airfield, which is just outside of the city of Deir el-Zour. Almost all of the surrounding province is under IS control.

The Observatory said that at least 19 government troops have been killed in the fighting, which began overnight with a suicide kaboom on a Syrian military position near the air base. It said seven IS fighters have been killed.

The Local Coordination Committees and the Observatory both reported heavy festivities and government shelling on the villages surrounding the airfield.

Lebanese Army Opens Anti-Aircraft Fire at Unidentified Drone
[AnNahar] The Lebanese army opened anti-aircraft fire on Thursday at an unmanned plane in central Bekaa, the state-run National News Agency reported.

According to NNA, the Army's Second Artillery Brigade opened anti-aircraft fire at a drone that was flying over the Riyaq military airport.

It is unclear if the drone was hit.

?Around 10:30 am an Israeli reconnaissance plane overflew Riyaq region and army units in the area responded by opening anti-aircraft fire,? the army said in a communique later in the day.
*Bang! bang! bang!* "Damn those Israelis and their damned UAVs!" *Bang! bang! bang!*
However, Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said that the army ?opened anti-aircraft fire at three Israeli MK drones that staged a circular flight over Riyaq airport.?
*Bang! bang! bangetty-bang!*
According to the radio station, the three UAVs were filming the area to help militiamen reach into Riyaq airport from Syria's Zabadani.?

In a separate statement, the army said that ?Israeli warplanes violated Lebanon's airspace on Wednesday afternoon over the town of Alma al-Shaab, staging a circular flight over all Lebanese regions, before leaving the airspace at 10:45 pm over the town of Kfar Kila,? added the statement.

Israel's violations of Lebanese airspace, some of which at low altitudes, have intensified in recent days.

Israel routinely sends F-16 fighter planes over Lebanon, in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution that ended the 2006 war. The Israeli planes have often broken the sound barrier over Beirut and other places as a show of strength, most recently after the drone incident.

NNA also reported on Thursday that Israeli warplanes overflew the town of Marjayoun at 9:00 am.

On December 30 last year the Lebanese army opened anti-aircraft fire for the first time against Syrian airplanes violating its airspace since the outbreak of the Syria's conflict in 2011.

Terror Networks
ISIS Is Watching US Military Members And Their Families on Social Media
Are U.S. military members at risk on social media?

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security this weekend jointly issued the strongest warning yet for U.S. servicemen to scrub their accounts on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

As reported by Fox News’s Catherine Herridge, the FBI and DHS are warning against posting information that could put members of the U.S. armed forces and their families at risk for attack from supporters of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).

The bulletin said the FBI believes “individuals overseas are spotting and assessing like-minded individuals who are willing and capable of conducting attacks against current and former U.S.-based members of the United States military.”

The threat is real, though it has manifested itself only in small numbers so far. In Canada, two soldiers guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were killed in October and the gunman opened fire on the Canadian parliament.

Also in October, it was reported that an Air Force father and his teenage son were singled out by ISIS sympathizers on Facebook and targeted with offensive messages after they posted pictures of a bombing raid. The latter incident prompted the Army to issue an intelligence bulletin warning that ISIS militants were calling on supporters to troll social media for information on U.S. military to single them out for attack.

According to Fox’s commentator and national security expert, K.T. McFarland, the president of Iraq had stated that cell phones and social media played a major role in the surrender of Iraqi military forces over the summer, with military members having received text messages from ISIS threatening their families at home unless they laid down their weapons.

Social media have become a primary way for U.S. service men and women abroad to keep in contact with their families. Yet, it has to be done within the context of good Internet security protocols. These would include encryption, proper security and privacy settings, and limiting the amount of photos and personal information posted.

In other wars, the public has been urged to protect information from spying eyes and ears. When dealing with an enemy as unscrupulous, yet tech and propaganda savvy as ISIS, this is an essential common-sense precaution.
