The Center for American Progress notes without embarrassment that in an age where stuff made by the greedy people has gotten cheap, the services provided by the well-intentioned are driving everyone to the poorhouse.
The Turks have now let 100,000 plus Syrian Kurds into their country as they flee the IS headchoppers. Good for them!
At the same time Turkish police have shown up at the border north of the city of Kobane which is under IS attack for the purpose of preventing Turkish Kurds from crossimg the border to fight alongside their ethnic kinsmen. Many of those who want to cross are Turkish Army and Jandarma veterans who are well trained.
Erdogan's police are using water cannons and tear gas to prevent their crossing. Why wuould Erdogan do that?
IMO, Erdogan, who has always supported IS has made a deal in which he will continue to deny NATO the use of facilities and will continue to support IS sub rosa (sort of). In this case he is helping IS cut its way to the Turkish border where logistical and other support will be easier to provide. At the same time this allows IS to clear up yet another space in its rear area before moving on to other matters.
In short, Turkey is now both a member of NATO (lapsed) and part of the Sunni salafi coalition headed by IS. Turkey should be required to choose which role it wants for itself and should be held to that choice.
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a growing list of enemies. "Among his targets" at a recent address to a Turkish business group "were The New York Times, the Gezi events of 2013, credit rating agencies, the Hizmet movement, the Koc family and high interest rates," Zamanreported September 18. Erdogan earlier had threatened to expel rating agencies Moody's and Fitch from Turkey if they persisted in making negative comments about Turkey's credit.
Turkey's financial position is one of the world's great financial mysteries, in fact, a uniquely opaque puzzle: the country has by far the biggest foreign financing requirement relative to GDP among all the world's large economies, yet the sources of its financing are impossible to trace.
I have analyzed sovereign debt risk for three decades -- including stints as head of credit strategy at Credit Suisse and head of debt research at Bank of America -- and have never seen anything quite like this.
[GreatFallsTribune] Last week, I received a copy of the Koran.
During a heightened period of instability in the Middle East, beheadings of Americans by Islamic terrorists, and ongoing national security threats, the Council on American-Islamic Relations ... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ... sent me a copy of the Koran for my reference library.
In its cover letter, CAIR cites a 2009 speech made by President Barack Obama I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money... in Egypt where he declared that America promised "a new beginning between the United States and Moslems around the world." CAIR appears to be acting upon that speech literally, and now is taking its message to the local level. In fact, I've learned that all major cities in Montana have been receiving copies of the Koran as part of the organization's public relations campaign.
On its face, the distribution of the Koran may seem innocuous. At any other time, I may not have been so bothered by its delivery. However, by candlelight every wench is handsome... the package arrived three days before the 13th anniversary of Sept. 11. This is noteworthy.
CAIR's cover letter does not acknowledge in any way the anniversary of our country's worst terrorist attack. It's not what the letter says, it's what it doesn't say. CAIR does not condemn terrorist attacks or recent actions by Islamic terrorists. The expectation appears to be that we're to simply accept this peaceful gesture and overlook what faceless myrmidons are doing in the name of the religious book.
While CAIR would likely say that the Koran was distributed as an educational reference tool and in peace, the timing reflects very poor judgment; so much so, that one could interpret the mailing as an "in your face" overture. Americans could easily misconstrue the campaign as a subtle threat.
The mailing is no coincidence. Americans need to know about this program to consider its meaning, implications and intent as world events unfold around us.

About the same level of 'f--k you' as Rep. Keith Ellison's use of Thomas Jefferson*'s Koran for his swearing in.
* Do a search for Jefferson and the war against the Barbary Pirates...

Then I guess sending out a recipe for a bacon kabaa at the beginning of ramadan is OK.
I can get that the timing of an official crayon with no notice or recognition of 9/11 with murderous islam twitting about and calls for worldwide jihad would be considered a call for conversion or else. CAIR is the mouth of animalism, power and abuse without consequences.

"for I have sworn upon the altar of god eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man" -- Thomas Jefferson
Agree about the timing, but personally, I'm all in favor of people being familiar with the Koran. It would put a stop to a lot of this "Allah is just another name for God" nonsense. Know thy enemy.
* RUSSIA TODAY > RUSSIA NOW TOPS ISIS THREAT [ISIS = Obama priority #3], EBOLA WORSE OF ALL? LAVROV PUZZLED BY OBAMA'S UN SPEECH.
VERSUS
* BHARAT RAKSHAK > [DNA India] BASHAR AL-ASSAD FAILED TO WIPE OUT TERROR HAVENS: US DEFENDS SYRIA AIRSTRIKES IN LETTER TO UN CHIEF.
US claims Assad = Syria unilaterally can't or won't effec deal wid the Hard Boyz = ISIS despite formal complaints by neighboring sovereign countries, e.g. IRAQ, that he deal wid the problem permanently-n-forever???

Interesting read, worth the time. Noting the intended audience is a good point, pointing at how lost our public language is. ISJV is ringing the bell for action; our public face looks like the forehead card-guessing drinking game. Even if that is on purpose for clouding right decisions behind the curtain for a successful military operation, it sucks, especially when the starting lineup has made their careers out of peaceniking at any price for personal gain.
I would also like to suggest that by ramping about saying ISJV is not islam, it actually lets the muslim community off the hook for having to own up and/or vocally dispute this call to jihad.

As the world is engulfed in the flames of Islam, I'm sure everyone in the assembly was bewildered by his reference to local events in Ferguson, Missouri.

Wehell, unfortunately the OWG Globalists never answered the question on whether non-Muslims, e.g. Christians + Jews, will be accepted in these various ME Muslim-majority/dominated "Unions".
JUST AS THEY'VE NEVER ANSWERED HOW MUCH OR HOW FAR CAN THE US SAFELY UNILATERALLY GIVE UP ITS "SOLE" SUPERPOWER AUTHORITY-N-INFLUENCE TO WANNABES = OWG "UNIONS" WIDOUT BEING EXISTENTIALLY THREATENED BY SAME.
